Open Opera Trial and select Register. You will be presented with a number they require.
When ever i try to use the stock address book or pocketcm to send text messages the number says a standard 10 digit number (253-222-2222) but after i send the test messages saying the number i messaged was not a standard 10 digit number. and yes, they number my address book tryed to message was 12532222222. any help would be awesome. its a major inconvenience.
EDIT: this is my exact error
Error Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code
My Nexus doesn't show the senders phonenumber if the number i shorter than usual, i.g. in stead of showing "1880" the phone shows the first word in the message as sendername. Is this a generell problem in Android 2.1? Works fine on any other mobiles.
I also feel the same, I think is a ANDROID bug.
Anybody have the same problem ??
Confirmed.
For me the senders name shows up as a contact that starts or ends with the same numbers.

Who/what are you receiving texts from with a short number like that?
i.g. norwegian operators send messages from a 4 digit number.
Same problem for me
My bank uses 4 digit number for card notification and it works with android 1.6 on HTC Magic properly and uses 1st word from SMS body on NExus %((( both on official or CyanogenMod.
Does anybody know a solution?
There's a ticket in android tracker.

It was fixed in FROYO , close please .
Coming from TW and AOSP-Based ROMs on phones past I've never once encountered this issue. The short of it is as follows: some numbers in my inbox or call log wont link to their entries in my address book because the full number format doesn't match or something. It's a bit annoying because I'll send a message to someone using their 7 digit number, and when the message comes back it starts a separate thread with their contact entry as the number. Again, this never happened in other roms as 7 digit numbers could identify the contact if it was saved under either the 10 digit or the +11 digit number. Is there any possible way to change that behavior or should I just learn to use my address book to send messages? Thanks in advance
I occasionally get text messages from businesses with a 5 digit number. I would assign them to my contact so that their contact name would show up instead of the original 5 digit number in the app. At some point this stopped working because now, I just see the numbers again.
Anyone notice this?
