backup of the start of the PDA - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

hi,
I heard that you can create a backup of the start of the PDA (HTC, diamond)
when this is to install an unofficial rom and the installation fails,
there is another chance to reinstall through the backup of the boot.
is possible? with that program?

Are you talking about backing up SPL? That's really not necessary unless you worry about warranty issues. Olinex' Unsigned Hard SPL is by far the best and even if a ROM flashing fails, you can proceed flashing another one or the stock ones.
Regards,
Carty..

good,
but if you install the new rom fails?
how do I install a new one?
to make the remaining bootloader?

if a flash fails, the phone wont boot. You can usually get to Bootloader mode (holding down 'Vol Down' and doing a soft reset), from here you can flash again.

restore stock SPL and boot custom ROM?

may sound stupid but is this going to work?
ofc u have to flash the custom ROM before u restore the stock SPL. but is it going to boot afterwards?
hi there, i think you got it wrong.
you need to flash first the stock os (rom), stock radio then the stock spl.
Code:
extra how to: how to restore Stock SPL for warranty reasons.
step by step:
- this is ONLY for warranty reasons. i.e. the device needs repair and you have to send it to htc to get it serviced. if you plan to restore hardspl then don't even bother flashing this stock package, unless you are some kind of hacker/dev
- IMPORTANT: be sure to first restore stock OS, and stock radio. stock SPL is always to be done last!!
- now the steps
1. download the stock spl package from this post.
2. download X1_HardSPL_v1 too, from this post.
3. run the hardspl package, but do not press Next button i.e do not go ahead with flash yet.
4. at this point, take the extracted stock SPL, a RUU_Signed.NBH file, and overwrite the other RUU_Signed.NBH in hardspl package.
5. go on with the RUU (or if needed, run SSPL-Manual.exe manually, then run RUU when it goes to tricolour screen with 0.52.OliNex version), it goes to 100%, reboots, done.
+1. to verify, enter bootloader (see description above in this post), and check version number on tricolour screen. it should say 0.72.0000.
however, as per your querry, i think its not possible. i haven't tried that yet.

well im not going to try it since the chance of having a perfect brick afterwards is pretty high. just asked out of curiosity

Can't Upgrade cyanogenmod, stuck at HTC screen

Hi,
I've been trying to upgrade my Hero from cyanogenmod 6.1 RC1 for a while now. Every new rom I try to install just hangs the phone at the initial HTC screen. I've tried wiping every partition I can possibly wipe before I install the new ROM's but no go. The only way to get my phone back is to install 6.1 RC1 again.
Not sure what to do. I've tried different memory cards too.
Any suggestions? Maybe my phone just doesn't like the new 7.X roms?
Try reflashing your recovery. You might want to check out Ra1.7. Or you could try this after you reflash your recovery
Backup all of your data to your pc. Then format your sd threw your pc and restore factory defaults. Then format it again threw your recovery with no partitions no swap just all fat/system. Then redownload the rom of your choice+gapps. Then perform a fully wipe as in data, cache davilk-cache. Then flash the rom then the gspps and see if the rom will reboot.
Locked & Loaded
yeah you should definitely use the wipe function in the recovery menu before you flash the new rom,
if that doesn't help, restore to the original and start over, maybe use different recovery, i use the the amonra, it's been working well
Thanks, I will give it another go in a day or two and let you know how it goes.

First ROM

Hi,
I have some experience with ROMing but I really do only basic staff. First of all, info:
Device is SGS1, with an Israeli operator stock ROM (2.2), not rooted, not SIM free.
Never messed with an SGS before, only Atrix and used to doing everything easily with ROM Manager but on SGS I'm reading about Udin, flash stock before custom ROMs etc and decided to stop and ask...
Is it possible to simply, root, install ROM Manager, flash CWM recovery and get going (nandroid and full wipe before installation of course)? This is what I did on the Atrix (with the addition of unlocking the BL which I understood is not needed here)
Again, I just want basic ROM flashing the way I am used to with the Atrix
Thanks!
You can enter the recovery with the stock ROM. Power off your phone, then when its completely off, hold volume up+home key+power button then wait for the recovery to show up.
Not following you.
The device doesn't even have root. Is the BL really unlocked from stock? Is it ok to do everything with ROM Manager all the time as long as I do a full wipe?

Click to collapse
The easiest way would be flashing a Gringerbred Firmeware that is alerady rooted.
Try and follow these instructions: http://www.darkyrom.com/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
After installing that Rom, your Phone will have unlocked BL, Root-rights and other Stuff You'll need for flashing.
Just give it a try you can use Rom Manager as well after following and flashing that Rom
Edit: If you flashed that custom Rom you are abel to flash all other Roms like these Stock Roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790
Just read a while and don't forget to make Backups of your User Data and your EFS-Folder!!

Pre-caution tip for bootloop

Hi friends,
I have gone through several bootloop/soft brick condition with my OB so used this method to get out of it in very simple way.
THIS IS JUST MY PROCEDURE AND NOT THE SOFTWARE, SOFTWARE BELONGS TO HUEXXX SO THANK HIM AND AS HE HAS POSTED ALREADY I JUST TRIED TO EXPLAIN ACTUAL USE
Go here
Download the one that suits the rom you want to flash (not currently using but you want to flash)
put rom and the above 1 you downloaded in to sdcard
After flashing your rom following developers steps dont reboot, flash the e-recovery immediately
Job done. Now if you get bootloop or soft brick due to any reason you have g/e recovery to get back to CWM

Install Stock Firmware (JB 4.1.2) without Odin

Hi everyone, I'm here because i have problems with my phone and i want to fully restore. To do this i would like to install a new ROM, but from what i've seen, to install a ROM is necessary to have the stock JB 4.1.2 on the device, while i have CyanogenMod 11 (4.4.4) running.
This wouldn't be a problem if i could use Odin, but apparently my USB port has something wrong, and i cant connect my phone to any PC, so i cant flash in that way. Luckly i can access to the custom recovery (CWM), so i 'd like to ask if there is a way to flash the stock firmware via CWM.
Instead, If I can install a ROM starting directly from CM11 without restoring stock JB, or if i'm missing something important, let me now, i would appreciate a lot
Thank you in advantage. (Excuse se for any misspelling, I'm not English)
What kind of problems do you have?
If you can access CWM recovery there's no need to install stock in order to flash a new ROM, just be sure to wipe caches and data before installing the new one to avoid related bugs; and you will probably need to update the recovery to TWRP if you want to flash one of the most recent ROMs
It's always recommended to create a backup before everything else.
Peace
Hi, thank you for then anwer Well, it would be a long list of problems ^^ The biggest one though is the fact that if I'm in AeroMode everything works as always, sometimes bugged but nothing exceptional, but in the moment i switch AeroMode off and digit the SIM pin, the phone turns off and then enters in a bootloop(vibrating every 1 minute like before entering the main window, but it remains stuck) that is solvable only pressing for 8/10 secs the POWER button and restarting it. I can't have a phone which is not able to make voice calls :/ Back to the problem, so if i'm not misunderstanding anything, I dont need to reverto to stock and then reflash the new ROM? Because, for example, in the main page of CM13 it's written:
ROM Firmware Required: Stock + CWM compatible with KitKat
and that's the origin of my post... But in case, which wipe should i do? Dalvik + wipe data/factory reset?
OK, the thing is that you need stock + CWM at minimum, it means you can't install it if you are on gingerbread; but if already installed something higher than 4.1 you can go from there.
First create a backup then wipe cache, wipe dalvik, factory reset and install your preferred ROM
Ohhh, that makes sense.... Ok, so i will wipe what you said and flash the new ROM! You saved me a lot of time, thank you so much!
