Checklist Application - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

I've searched the internet and a few forums and couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. At first I started using the Note application in WM6 and quickly decided I wanted something better. The Task app works decent too, but there is something weird about it to me. Maybe I'm just being picky. I kind of the like the Checklist Tree app found here. The interface is kind of old and outdated looking as well as doesn't really display properly. When you scroll down, it doesn't quite display everything. Also adding to the list seems more cumbersome than necessary. The main feature I would like it a way to delete all checked off items. Another really annoying part of this program is that it does not autosave. You have to save everytime before you close it or you lose everything. There isn't even a reminder to save before you close. I do really like the hierarchy layout though. Sorry to complain so much and I'm sure I'm being picky, but does anyone else know of anything and what do you guys use. Thanks!!

really? no one??

What about this one?.

PointUI....hmmmm

Check this out (if you have not seen it already).

It is available for download already. Very slick...but not sure it is what I am looking for. I like how my Today page is set up now, with all info in one spot.
Anyway, thought I would share if you have not seen it already. I will continue to play with it when I get a chance.

I saw this a week or so ago, and it looks pretty damn nice. This is the type of inerface that WM needs to incorprate.
Word of Caution before you guys use this prog!
If you d/l this you will have to go through a lot of crap just to uninstall it once you realize that it lacks functions like "games" "camera" or basically any 3rd app you have installed on your device.
jb
I put it on my Exec, & it Is a bit like Paris Hilton - looks pretty but turns out to be a waste of space.
Admittedly is is a lot more pleasing on the eye than windows mobile, but it is like the terminator of applications, there is no defeating it once its on your device.
Im struggling like hell to get rid of it. A hard reset is looking like my best option.

Agreed,
I dloaded and installed it then tried uninstalling, only to realize it wouldn't without serious extra effort( deleteing folders, reg keys etc.)
Even on their forums there's a mile long uninstall thread.

Same here. I had to Hard reset also. Got tired of searching for it's file.

read their forum..
you have to uninstall thru the .Update Manager app in programs folder, not uninstall applications in windows system folder.
take a look at their forum, believe it or not the developers of this application do and answer alot of questions if you look

Been there, done that (and got that tee shirt ). Home app goes away nicely. Update Manager has no uninstall method that i can find (tried both that PointUI forums mentioned). Looking at hard reset tonight. Bummer.
installed earlier today.. number one mobile interface, period.
From the Explorer, in \program files\pointui ... start the "Update Manager"
Go in the Pointui Products>Home>1.01b Free> "Uninstall" !
That's it, the main app is uninstalled. Now you can uninstall the updater/installer.
Well, I like the program, so I have no need to uninstall it for now. But according to this thread:
http://forums.pointui.com/viewtopic.php?t=130
It's much simpler to remove it than a "mile long thread" would imply. Maybe they found a way to do so, or documented it after all the confusion. But to not try this thing out, IMO, is a missed opportunity to try something quite nice.
EDIT: Just saw Sebbes' reply. Those are essentially the directions given in the thread. Again, i can't say for certain they work since I am keeping it and haven't tried to uninstall.
Tried this myself yesterday, and am quite impressed.
If they can sort out the bugs and add some new features over the coming months, this thing could be huge.
For now, it works ok. If you don't treat this as a final product it is a fun ride.

Eye Candy that lacks function and support of the other great apps you need to use!
Maybe in time will come good but for now I'm sticking with my setup.
MM
fyi, "interface" != "OS"... i still like it WHOLE lot, but the house needs some interior finishing, i.e. letting me get to my hard-button shortcuts would be a neighborly thing; also not hiding PIE from me would be friendly. even so, its faster than the cube/flashlight combo i've used from here.

lol-well-if my interpretation of a long thread about uninstalling confuses ppl, then so be it. It really was a PITA to uninstall seeing as it doesn't follow accepted guidelines for uninstall( through remove programs) and after someone does figure out the obtuse uninstall, it still leaves reg key mods that need to be fixed to restore functionality to the soft keys.

PointUI on the TyTN II

I just installed the latest build of PointUI (www.pointui.com) on my TyTN II, and really like the slick interface and touch capability. Anyone else running this app, and if so have you run into any issues? The fact that the software will remain a free product makes it worth the "testing".
Thanks.
James
Theres a couple of threads on this already. I have installed it but my TyTN II locks up every time within 2 minutes of starting, even after a soft-reset so have given up for now.
I may give it another go when they fix all the bugs listed on their forums and add more features to make it more usable and by then hopefully my lockup issues will be solved as well.
I did use it for some days but I hate that the 'close' button is not an actual close button at all. It just minimizes the app instead of closing it. So it is very memory consuming.
But I did like the interface and the way it worked. Just wait a little longer to have them some issues solved.
plexat they have just fixed the close program issue today with this update
http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/hardwarekeys2/home.zip
Copy the exe over the old one and you now have a close button instead of a minimize one!
It also fixes the issue with hardware buttons not working.
the background color is horrid and the icons are goofy. but the app itself is pretty slick and i like the update manager.
i haven't used it that much, but the only bug i've experienced is while swiping my finger from side to side to move the applet ribbon the touch cube activates. i didn't know it could activate with a side to side motion.
anyway, for a beta product this thing is incredible. it has huge potential. after revisions, i think this will be a must-have app.
just installed it on my phone and it works for about 2 mins before freezing, once already its reduced my screen to randon red and yellow dots, so thats getting uninstalled.
shame really as the 5 mins i did get to spend playing with it i was quite impressed
or i would if it had a proper uninstaller
very nice!
Just installed this in a WM6 emulator (having no real WM6 hardware at this time) and I must say it is superb! It feels like an iPhone (heresy to say something around here, I know). I almost have to say that it is better then TouchFLO (Yet another heresy to say something around here).

No problem. I dont really know how I found it I have a tendancy to go to forums and open all threads that interest me by holding ctrl down and clicking on them. Then I read through and close them as I go.
I just happened to come across the update in one of the threads I was reading! One of the developers had posted a link to the file in the middle of a thread.

The cube activating is due to your touchflo config file. All you need to do is edit the config file to exclude pointui and the cube will not activate while pointui is open.

PointUI - some notes
Great app, but the problem is it cannot start my 3G connection when e.g. updating weather, or using update manager.
DAMN!
When I start the connection manually from normal WM6 interface, it works then, but it's annoying...
Any help with this?
Thanks,
Gabriel
You know, the saddest part about it all is that even with our $700+ dollar devices (unless you're like me and sold your soul to AT&T... $150 Kaiser baby!) we're all dying for a UI like this. Tell you what, if it wasn't for you guys and the xda-developers community, there's no way in hell I would have gotten this phone. Dutty's ROMs are magical stuff, man. Tell you what, after a few more weeks/months of dev. and a full version with a less... erm... blue background, I'd pay $50 for this program if it allows me to get through my day without ever seeing any part of the traditional Windows Mobile UI. I'd pick it up for $100 if they included integrated task manager, file explorer, media player, web browser, and other essential software. Hell, I'd gladly go higher if they allowed me to never have to see any part of Windows Mobile GUI again. The Kaiser kills the iPhone in functionality (that's why we're all here, right?), but man pointUI is a step in the right direction towards closing the "sexiness" gap.
Okay, rant over.
I'm note sure I would pay $100 for the UI, but I do agree that this is exactly what Windows Mobile needs. Overall function is great and with just a few minor fixes/changes this would be the killer app for any WM device.

I cannot agree more than what you say. HTC is a superb tool designed by engineers with some "help" from designer people. I love it, but my god the interface is sometimes not sexy at all (just compare the icons of pointui as an exemple
Iphone is a superb tool made by designers. I love it from a purely design point of view, but it lacks a lot of things engineers love (openness, 3G+, GPS, etc.)
Now the TYTNII plus a pointUI type interface would be the top must. The very few minutes I spent with pointUI, I loved it. I will keep it as soon as it really work and have more customization.
Now, I am sticked to HTC, because it is quite easier to adapt a new interface to an existing device, than the contrary
Thx

I had the same.. fairly easy to fix:
get yourself a registry editor (PHM for example)
navigate to: \HKCU\software\microsoft\today\keys\112
change: Default string to 'phone' (from Home)
change: Open string to '\windows\cprog.exe'
then i'd do a soft reset.
should work..

Seriously though, if you want it for playing videos or games. Some people are unhappy with it's performance. Personally, I'm not.
Don't change anything for the 1st fortnight, but check it does perform how you want it to. I would imagine you'll be happy enough, I love mine. But the only advice you can really be given is to play with it ALOT and see for yourself.
Yer read the forum quite a lot, used it for my orbit, great place, but some of the advice, program information can be fragmented or berried deep in a thread.
Never hurts to ask specific question again now and then to keep the info flowing.
Having fun playing with the phone, great tool.
Sorry, I was pre-empting the response your might get from some people. I came from the o2 Exec and whilst I have customised my Stellar by adding different themes etc, the base device and software is still standard and I've been really pleased. If nothing else the extra onboard memory is great!
If anything you will probably find pretty similar to the Orbit, I know that apart from the size it's not really any different to my old Exec, apart from a heck of alot more stable.
Just install/get some good apps to go with your new piece of kit.
A good backup app
Resco Explorer
TCPMP player
and then make a list of what you do the most.
Do you instant message?
GPS?
What do you want it to do?
Then just start adding things you like and stripping away the bloat you will never use.
Get a microsd card, another battery, a car charger, etc
Yes or the other classic 'google for it'
Yer very same as the orbit indeed, the sliding keyboard is great.
I did notice one of its 'selling' points on the site was you could use, say, TomTom in landscape. Can you change the 'scape' of the screen by touch rather than opening the keypad or going to settings screen and changing it there ?
TCPMP player, forgot that one thanks.
So far I've got
Googlemaps
Taskmanager
Sprite Back Up
GPRS Monitor.
TomTom
On program I would like is a decent alarm clock, nothing complicated just set, sleep wake up.

Is it ok that I'm completely overwhelmed?

I literally just bought my at&t tilt today, and when I bought it the guy I got it from suggested I come here to do some digging on modifying/personalizing my Tilt to my liking. Now, I'm somewhat of a computer nerd. I can work through most issues with my PC without having to call customer service or hit up forums or anything. I have no experience with pocket PCs or windows mobile however.
I've read the multiple notices here advising to read around first before asking dumb questions, but I have to say that I'm still completely lost and don't even know where to begin. I really don't have complicated intentions, I'm almost 100% satisfied with the phone as-is...regardless, I still just have no idea what to even start with, so I figured I would just throw that out there and hopefully get pointed in the right direction. Hopefully I'll be able to take it from there, but the tutorials, wikis, and FAQs that I was advised to browse through first (and I apologize if I'm just not seeing it, again I'm a WM noob) just aren't getting me there.
All I'm really interested in doing is changing my home screen. Other things I want to do I don't even know if it's possible to do so, or if I even have to download anything!
So maybe just one more shove in the right direction?
Try This
This is not going to change your rom......This will give a new look totally...I think you'll like it...Install it from your desk top
Peace
Mike

Wisbar advance (check out the skins for this app..)
If you know a bit of XML try RLtoday
oh, and search for "Ultimate launch" on the forum...
ummm check out the second link in my sig.
I'm in the same boat as you. There is so much information here, it's quite overwhelming. I want to get the most out of my device, but I just don't have he time to really get into it.
Well you have to start somewhere, so just say where you want to go.
Would you like to make the phone look different?
Would you like to add your own ringtones?
Themes?
gps stuff?
roms?
seriously look at the second link in my signature.
I suggest that you use it for a while to get used to it, then read, then try changing it. Just my 2 cents.
I'm guessing your question is more basic than the answeres provided. If you just want to change your today screen, check out the "Today" applet under "Settings" on the start menu. You can choose from a variety of default plugins, and some of them have options you can change (simply click the options button if it's enabled). As you install more apps, they may have Today Screen plugins as well.
DO NOT GO THROTTLE LAUNCHER.... i like the guy that developed it but it has become obsolete with manilla 2d, personally i stayed away from flashing for a long time but now that i have started i'm addictted it provides alot better preformance from your ppc, i would highly recommend it
my favorite rom right now is the garmin dk4 manilla just make sure you read up before, its not that complicated once you get the hang of it. biggest thing is make sure to flash hard spl before you flash anything else
Here's some advice from someone who has had pocket pc's for a long time. I am also half a century old, so this advice comes from experience and not theory.
Keep your Kaiser/TyTN II/Tilt, whatever it is, as stock standard as possible. Do not flash new roms etc etc. This is the cause of most problems here unless you are really clued up on this, which it seems you are not at the moment. I won't even try it.
There are many third party apps out there and in here which will not affect the normal functioning and enjoyment of your device. Most of them are freeware.
Today themes are dime a dozen, heck, you can create your own with freeware apps like ThemegenCE (Desktop app which creayes the Tsk file for your device theme and even TKCreator which is a theme creation app directly on your device I (Also freeware and more basic than the former).
You need Total Commander, a freeware File Explorer much better than than one shipped wth the device. Quickmenu 2.7 makes using the device a pleasure and hardly requires the stylus. This provides a task manager, drop down menus, controls for device utilities like bluetooth, wifi, soft resetting etc. You also need Mortplayer which is the best MP3 player and is freeware and of course TCPMP with flashvideo bundle for video clips/movies/flash video from websites etc. This all for free. Heck, here are even freeware GPS apps for navigation out there, eg Amaze GPS and Nav4All, or just go full hog and buy the best like TomTom. TodayAgenda is a Today Plugin for calendar appointments and is one of the best and totally free. S2U2 developed by A_C from XDA is a cool screen saver/slide to unlock app which is free and highly customisable with animated gifs as wallpaper etc.
This would be a good start for you.

MAC

[Q] Graphic applicatin similar to photoshop, illustrator or corel.

Does anybody know if there is any application which can allow to draw what i want? I work as a logo designer and sometimes i need to quickly draw things whats on my mind. I tried Pocket Artist 3.3 which is great but it is kinda buggy For example when i draw something with paintbrush it everytime generates straight lines to one randomly seleceted point which is bothering me So is here any other app which allows all the things like PocketArtist? Thanks for any help
I have found Pocket Artist to be the most complete program available. I found it only to be buggy with the stylus recognition. In the preferences there is a setting to reduce stylus jitters. After changing that it is very accurate. I don't know if this is what you meant by buggy, but it helps if you haven't tried it. Most of my other issues I would just consider to be limitations of a phone/small screen.
I have tried a lot of other programs but most of them were not impressive. Photogenics had some cool features, but was fairly limited. I think it was limited to like 240x320 or something small like that. Maybe if you don't need large images it would be worth checking out. At least it allows layers
If you find anything else worthwhile please post it here.
Hope this helps!
yeah ive also tried a lot of programs but found Conduits Pocket Artist the most flexible and easiest to use on the small screen.
