hi guys,
i have a problem concerning the sync of my x1 via bluetooth connection...means that i can establish a bt partnership. but when i hit "connect via bluetooth" in the x1s activesync it says that it cant establish a connection to a activesync-supporting pc. an wheter i want to establish a bt-partership with another device. when i hit yes i can search for another device. when i search a again for a bluetooth fitted device it (of course) shows me my pc.
the weird thing: at first launch of the x1 it worked via bt!!!
I checked the services:
x1: Active Sync is activated...
in bt-settings on my pc: ActiveSync Bluetooth Service is also activated and OBEX. In the windows mobile device center the setting is: allow connections via: bluetooth. I also can choose IR and COM 3.
i tested if bt works by sending a (jpeg)file from the x1 to my pc...this is no problem.
cant figure the problem out. why can i transfer files but not sync via windows mobility center...crazy crazy...hope you can help me!
thanks a lot guys!
trekkie2003
seems like i have this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-347472.html
i have tried to connect with following settings:
PC:
- Windowsmobility center: allow connections via com6
- bluetoothdriversettings: services "ActiveSync Bluetooth Service" is enabled!!! I also added incoming (serial) com connection on port 6 (com6)
X1 activesync: - services enabled: serial connection. Under COM-Connections there is an outgoing connection on com6...
as you can see no service "activesync" in the service list...but as alreade told the service "serial connection"
the problem still exists and active sync on my x1 gives me that error message:
"cannot find an existing bluetooth partnership with a pc that supports activesync..."
hope for some helpful advice...

after numerous faq and forum post i figured out that the service on the x1 has to be "ActiveSync". it wont work with the "serial connection" service enabled! An in my case a only get the activesync service when i choose "allow connections via: bluetooth" in windowsmobile device center... but problem still exists..."cannot find an existing bluetooth partnership with a pc that supports activesync..."
you should not make the outgoing com on the pda
the guides they have here
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?ContentId=3163
are still pretty valid seen from the pda's side
or you can google for other guides which step by step explain it on the
vista platform but
your issue is the way you set it up
thx rudegar for your reply and the link...
this was just a try with making an outging port on my pda...there is NO outgoing port added in my pda!!
i only set windowsmobile device center to com3 (allow connections via com3) and the incoming port of the pcs' btstack to com3...checked services on pda and pc...on both sides "active sync" is enabled! but problem still exists...
as my problem unfortunately isnt solved...to make sure nothing is interfering with bt stuff on vista i rebooted my pc. rechecked all settings. WMDC automatically reset the connection to Bluetooth! i changed it again to com3 as my btstack incoming port is also port 3.
i took a screenshot of the settings on my pc...(settingspc.jpg, see attachment)...
as i dont know how to make screenshots of my pda i can only tell you the settings of my pda....so i continued on my pda: active sync=> connect via bt => "error message: cannot find an existing bluetooth partnership with a pc that supports activesync..." => adding my pc to bt devices =>checking services on pda: only serial connection service...re-checked the services on pc... activesync is enabled (as you can see in the image)...
wmdc resets the connection settings to bt on every windows startup to bt!!! i downloaded a guide from toshiba für vista @winmo6. I did it exacetly the way they went through it like me!
btw. tried it also again with com6...but...no way... im starting to get really anoying about this...
I never had any problems with any of my WM 6-6.1 devices on my Vista64 system.. I have bluetooth in "Allow connections to one of the following" selection. No serial ports needed in WM device or in Vista...
But Before you sync, open the Windows Mobile Device Center on your Vista Computer!!!
Now open Activesync in your X1. Then just choose connect by bluetooth in WM Activesync App!!
Good Luck
Stuart
thats the way it worked at first launch!! just activated bt and here we go...no need chang com ports... maybe i should hard reset the x1 but i hate to re-install all programms i have on my device again as PIMbackup only saves contacts, calendar but not installed progams...
Hi
please can somebody explain to me how to connect my x1 via bt
I read many threads and still have a problem
I'm using windows XP SP3
thank you bye
my solution
I'm using ActiveSync over BT (R10 rom, Vista Laptop) but not really without problems...
For the 1st connection X1 never get's connected to Lappi. My Solution:
Make BT on Local Maschine unvisible, then again visible and after that on X1 -> ActiveSync -> Connect over BT.
What I don't like at all, ist that my BT on Laptop has to be visible:/ and compared to Nokia N95 (how there is working BT synch) the ActiveSync on WM6.1 is really crap.
Hope it can help you.
Best,
Mag
I did that but my X1 show me massege that cannot find partnership and I'm sure I have partnership
I use the COM method but I don't know how to select incoming port in my X1 I have only outgoing port
any idea please
same
I had same problem till 1 Week ago. I could not get rid of this message... finally I've flashed my X1 to the latest R10 ROM. Till now it works.
BTW: The R10 Rom is really the fastest I've ever tried on my Xperia (mp4 Videos without played without freezes and lauder music/tones). Maybe it is worth for you to do the upgrade too.
Best,
Mag
Quick reply without reading all your details, but maybe this will help.

R10 rom ?
from where you get R10 room
the lastest rom is available for X1 is R2 !
can you explain please
thank you bye
With R10 i ment R2AA010 ROM (010). It is really good, the best I've had since I have my X1.
forgot... I you can find them here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475482
Thank you for help
I was don't know about new ROM
I upgrade my X1 to new ROM
but I'm still have the problem
I had the same problem with broadcom bluetooth. I downloaded new driver for my PC, upgraded, and after that I saw "activesync" service in my bluetooth services. I set COM (COM6) and synchro works fine now
Try to upgrade PC drivers.

I jut encountered another Problem (which is severe in my opinion):
I connot connect to my Notebook over the active Sync Bluetooth Option.
It shows the Notebook, when searchning for it, bit Active Sync 4.0 doesn't seem to give the right service...
I am having this activesync problem also.
I can sync using the cradle. I tried setting up the connect via BT, but the BA is giving me a message : "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports Activesync. Would you like to set it up now?"
And i believe that i did set it up already.
my phone settings are:
under BT devices on my phone my computer is listed. under com ports i have Incoming com port 8.
my PC settings are
Devices : My phone
Options: all checked
COM ports: COM8 incoming
in MSActive sync 4.0:
connection settings: All checked ..."Allow connections to one of the following: COM8"
still cannot figure out what is wrong.
I am currently using WM5 and Activesync 4
When i was using WM03SE and Activesync 3.8 it was working fine.
same problem here
No way to create a synch connection via bluetooth.
It might be another MS bluetooth bug !
is this really not possible? I think this is a huge problem. Might rollback to 2003 until there is a fix.
ActiveSync w/BT okay here...
I can sync via BT without a problem.... it was a little strange on how the AS connection was created.
Anyway, I made sure my laptop was paired with the SX66. Started ActiveSync on the SX66, an clicked on ActiveSync via Bluetooth in the Menu. A screen popped up saying there were no valid BT connections and took me to the BT manager. I chose my laptop and an "Activesync Connection" was created... On the PC, I made sure to allow the proper COM port in AS (in my case, AS always used Com5 when using WM2003).
I didn't create and Incoming/Outgoing connection prior to the PDA prompting me, also deleted any existing partnerships on PDA and PC.
Sorry for the vagueness, this was one of the first things I tried after upgrading to WM5... I can try to answer any other questions. Good luck!
Just got it to work.
collowed chen's directions sort of.
I deleted existing partnerships on MS Activesync on PC and SX66.
I deleted existing pairing on Bluetooth devices under PC BT icon.
I enabled a comport under Bluetooth Devices/ COMPORTS for incoming.
I re-added the sx66 under bluetooth devices, set pass key, this time on my sx66 it listed "activesync" as one of the services offered.
Acknowledged everything on the SX66.
Then opened Active sync (at this point i still did not add the sx66 to activesync on my PC) on SX66.
Chose connect VIA BT under menu, and woila it asked if i wanted to create a partnership.
Now i am syncing via BT....i guess the difference between WM5 and wm03 is that with 03 i think i had to set it up via the cradle before BT.
does not work
i have tried all steps but it does not work
It depends on the PC's bluetooth stack. Anything else than Widcomm is problematic.
Need help. Trying to set up blue tooth on cingular 8125. Just bought new kensington bt and it set up serial com as com 4 and 5. The phone only gives u the option of com 6 and com 7. Any ideas? The BT does connect to phone but activesync cant find phone. Tried activsync 4.1 and 4.2. Thanks in advance for help.
I'm having the same trouble. i scoured this and other forums but can't find any info on this problem. I think we may need to upgrade the rom on our phones. I'm still running the stock rom and i think if we upgrade that might correct the problem.
I talked to the support team at HTC about this issue, they say that the activesync feature is a function of the drivers that are loaded onto your PC. If you pair your phone and don't see activesync as an available option, then try to upgrade or reinstall your BT driver. I wouldn't have thought it would work, but a simple uninstall and reinstall of my existing bluetooth software fixed the problem for me.

This is the simpliest method to fix the problem.
I had many bad rounds of this and finally did a reinstall of the bluetooth and then Active"stink" (crappy program for many reasons).
You have to make sure that you can identify the port that you 8125 establishes a bluetooth session with beforee you try to sync with. This port number is used in Activesync to know which port to talk through.
Please make sure that in the connections of Activesync that you choose the port for which you identified as bluetooth connected to your device.
THEN try to re-establish a bluetooth Activesync connection from your 8125 (pair it if you need to) and "bing" there should the option for Activesync.

If you guys still have problems with this after let me know. I played with this for a few hours about a month ago and could retrace my steps. A couple of phone reboots after setting up the ports helped
Just to add, I noticed that once I upgraded the ROM to Summiter's 2.25 I was able to walk out of BT range and when I returned re-sync via ActiveSync without doing a soft-reset of the phone.
As SK7575 said, be sure to post there are plenty of folks using this connectivty option and it does work....
And I had this working - nicely syncing between my cingular 8125 and laptop via BT!!
But then I tried to get my 8125 to connect to my new wireless network - which did not work - and in the process of trying everything I must have broken something, because now after trying everything imaginable I just never see that activesync service on my 8125 any more.
The last I tried was to remove all the BT serial ports from device manager after deleting them from the HP bluetooth neighborhood (I have a bigger HP laptop with built in BT).
Then rebootet and four new BT ports were found and installed. Then I told the HP software to make a new incoming port (they call it service) and got COM 5. Then I told activesync on the PC to use COM5 for syncing.
Made sure all pairing was removed. booted both the HTC and PC - paired the two - bang - no 'activesync' service.
Now I am running out of options especially as I don't know how to un- and reinstall the HP software that comes with the laptop.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Gunter
I also have the HP BT stack on my laptop and ActiveStink does not sync with my MDA.
Any answers here, may help get me synced via BT.
Is the trick to see which USB port comes alive when I connect MDA via USB?
and use that on my PC for ActiveSync to listen to via BT on my laptop?
Thanks

NB
I'd be glad to hear if someone has the Belkin F8T012 USB dongle and that they have that working with bluetooth ActiveStink.
'Cause everything I've tried, I never ever see the "Activesync" profile appear on my device when pairing, I only see an available Serial Port.
Does anyone know the details of how that active sync profile is cretaed on the 'puter? If I could troubleshoot from that angle, I bet I'd have it working...

This is quite a common problem, from what I have gathered reading from the web, but haven't found a solution yet.
I could Sync perfectly via Bluetooth using Actve Sync 4.2, but ever since I received a file from another phone via bluetooth Active Sync doesn't show up as an option when I pair my phone with my laptop, hence no Active Sync via Bluetooth.
What could have gone wrong? Anyway of getting my Active Sync to work with the Bluetooth again? I have tried everything possible, hard reset, re-installing Active Sync, re-pairing etc. etc.
Please to help... anyone???
i spent a day trying to connect to activesync using bluetooth, when i finaly manage to do this and disconnect it , next time i spent another couple hours trying to connect it again as it was before ). and i think i realize all specifics of that procedure. ur main goal is to recognise computer paired device as device connected via activesync service and not the "serial port" service on ur PDA.
That I know...
Thanks, for that, but that I know, problem is how to make the PDA realise that my system has Active Synch and not Serial port! Have you managed to find that out? If you have then please let me know. Thanks in advance.
It actually depends on what Bluetooth stack yr LapTop has, Broadcom,BlueSoliel, Toshiba or MS..U need to add a virtual Serial Port..set that serial port in yr Async connections on yr LapTop..then re-do the BT search on yr PDA and now it will show Async service in yr device..
yep, in my case its a toshiba one, and u need to set incoming and outgoing port on computer this way: com6 local client port, com7 local server port. and set activesync on com7, and make a connection on computer with pda on port 6 but do not coennect it, after that make a connection on pda with computer, and try to refresh list of services that computer provides untill "serial port" becomes "activesync", then launch activesync on pda and hit connect via bluetooth option, thats it.
Using MS Bluetooth software.
I am using the Microsoft Bluetooth software and there is only incoming and outgoing. Kept refreshing but only shows 'Serial Port'!

You are an absolute genius. I would never have thought about the "refresh" on the PDA bluetooth settings. It worked. I had given up previously so many times!!!

I tried this port with com5 and com9 instead because 6 and 7 were taken (by what??). But unfortunately it didn't work, kept showing "Serial port" even after many refreshes.
What a nuisance
I had a similar problem. One of the reasons I bought the MDA was to sync wirelessly, and I never got this to reliably work, and wound up using a USB cable. The problem is that if it doesn't work without doing something, it is more trouble than the cable. Here are my notes about making bluetooth work:
A workaround is (i) on the MDA, go into bluetooth settings, open the PC listing and uncheck and then recheck the ActiveSync service, and (ii) shut down ActiveSync and restart it on the PC, using ActiveSyncToggle (Google for it). This program also solves the problem that activesync would start and then report that it couldn't find the bluetooth dongle for the idiotic reason that ActiveSync started before the bluetooth dongle was started. ActiveSync doesn't have an Exit/close button, and ActiveSyncToggle provides it.

It's rather simple. Once you pair PDA & PC with ActiveSync, you got a connection - PDA with PC (ActiveSync) via USB. This you can see in ActiveSync -> Connection Settings - checked box near "Allow USB Connections".
And if you'll pair your PDA with PC by Bluetooth (I have BlueSoleil installed), you'll have a Com port (#7 in my case) applied to your PDA - not in PDA, in PC - so you must sign this port in ActiveSync -> Connection Settings -> check box "Allow connection to one of the followings:", choose right port from the list (#7 in my case), tap "OK" (but not "Connect"!!!) - and then try to refresh BT connection on your PDA - you'll see pretty soon - "connection type - ActiveSync". Then choose "connect via BlueTooth" from your PDA - Voila! Yuo're synchronising via BT!
BUT!!! From now on this silly ActiveSync will mind, that you wish to synchronise ONLY by BT! Look in "Connection Settings" - you'll see that "Allow USB connections" is unchecked! That means, you're not able to connect via USB any more!
So, if you want to connect via USB one thing you must to do - is to check this damn box manually! And you again can synchronise via USB.
And from that on - if you want to synchronise via BT - uncheck this box and check "Allow connection to one of the followings:" and check the propper Com port.
So thats all. Have fun!
Right

That is probably the problem for me, I sync with two PCs, so when I got one working, trying to sync with the other would bollix up the first's settings.
I have no experience synchronising with 2 PC's. Suppose, you'll have to pair with both PC's and watch right connection settings every time - is particular PC switched to synchronise by USB or by BT - before trying to synchronise!!!!
Else you'll be forced to delete all synx. settings from you PDA (AS page) every time (IMHO)... and pairing you devices from beginning...
Solution found at last!
This was the solution to MY problem:

Morning: Hard reseted my device and installed all my software apps at my work computer via AS in USB mode as a Guest. Note: I have not set up a partnership with any computer (either USB or BT).
Evening: Got in my truck and paired my JasJar to my BT GPS receiver via a BT Serial Port. Used TomTom and navigated home.
Late Evening: Got home. I wanted to set up a BT AS Partnership first so I went through the procedures of pairing my device and my home computer. And guess what, it didn't work. My JasJar would not see that AS was an available option on my home computer (NOTE: Before Hard Resetting my device in the morning, I had previously established a BT AS Partnership with my JasJar so I know my machine supported that profile). What the @?#~! Ok. I did a search of the word "sync" through the registery. Came up with an interesting issue. Under the registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Ac tiveSync\
In that directory I saw a folder listed as: 000a3a051d0f (This folder is specific to my device (more below)). I was wondering what this was since I did not have any BT ActiveSync Profiles set up yet. When I looked in it, I realized immediately that this is the Device Profile for my GPS RECEIVER!!!! What the hell was it doing in this directory I asked myself. So I deleted the folder 000a3a051d0f from the directory:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Ac tiveSync\
And guess what? I was able to establish a partnership via BT immediately!!!
Hope this helps anyone else facing similar situation... I guess when I sent something via a Nokia phone it created a key which kept recognising my laptop as having only serial port. Once deleted - pronto my laptop showed up saying it had Active Synch!
Hs anyone here successfully synced their WM6 himalaya with Windows Vista over bluetooth?
I am trying to sync my device with Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 in Vista over bluetooth but whenever i try to click on "Connect Via Bluetooth" in ActiveSync found in my device i get following error on my device:
"Cannot communicate with the PC because of the following Remote Networking error (Error 608)
Please reconnect your device if problem persists, restart the device."
I have tried both the roms i.e. helmi_c & c_shehkar's rom but couldnt get to sync my device over bluetooth with Vista. Previously i had a WM5 rom on my device and it synced with Vista flawlessly over bluetooth.
Can anyone help me on this matter???

WM 6.0 is not (yet).

I cant even sync it using my USB cradle eventhough i have tried what was written in after_you_flash.txt. I am using Vista and is WMDC 6.1 is installed on Vista which is supposed to work with WM6. The problem is when i connect it thru USB, Vista fails to install a proper driver for it.

conecting ppc (wm6) to vista via BT solution
A few months ago, I posted on some forums this solution of my own, that enables conection vista pc and wm6 ppc via BT:
OW TO CONNECT WMDC AND PPC ON VISTA
1.-run bt on your pc
2.-run bt on your ppc
3.-bond your pc and ppc via bt, that will require password on both devices
4.-once connected, your pc will show some services your ppc is offering: activesync, voice gateway, obex, etc. and will allow you to configure some of them. you can see that because under each configurable service there is a button named configure. your pc assings by default one specific com port to activesync service, that may vary depending on free com ports available on your pc. you can see the assigned port clicking on configuration button. on the new window, you can see COM PORT, and one number. For our purposes, let´s suppose it is COM5
5.-run wmdc software, modify connections and mark on "allow bluetooth connection", which is not marked by default. close wmdc.
6.-old activesync program allows to choice com port to connect to. wmdc does not. it must be set modifing windows vista registry. so, run regedit and look for the key HKLM\software\microsoft\windows ce services\serial port. this key has usually the value "bluetooth" (without quotes). well, modify it, delete bluetooth and write COM5. (or any other com port your pc has assigned to activesync). notice that we are modifing SERIAL PORT, that means wmdc uses this service to connect.
7.-close regedit and reboot pc in order to allow changes in the registry.
8.-run again bt on both devices.
9.- run "add new bluetooth devices" on your pc. it will show again your ppc and services it provides, including activesync. configure again activesync service, and check out com port is still the same as before. in this configuration window, you will notice you can modify the NAME of the service, that is "activesync" (without quotes). well, change it, and write Serial Port.
10.-run again wmdc and it will connect to your ppc
what have we done?
1.-activesync ppc service is connected to pc using COM5
2.-wmdc is using serial port on COM5
3.-we change the name of activesync ppc service to serial port service
4.-both running on com5.
I don't see the word "activesync" on the services list on my device, I only see "serial port" what could be wrong? I tried re-connecting again and again, made an incoming connection on the comport and assigned the comport number in Activesync and still it won't work. The last time I did these procedures, everything seems working fine. What could be wrong?
Any solution? Bump.
I did read the thread here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=331394 ) and tried everything there but just can not get the Activesync service to show up on my Tilt. Funny thing is it was working before I tried to get Bluetooth PAN working.
By the way, AT&T branded device, Toshiba BT stack on Win XP SP2.\
FINALLY SOLVED:
-In control panels Bluetooth Local COM
-Removed COM6
-Added COM6 as Bluetooth virtual COM port for a SERVER
Then finally Activesync service showed up and all was a breeze from there.

I tried re-connecting again and again, made an incoming connection on the comport and assigned the comport number in Activesync and still it won't work. The last time I did these procedures, everything seems working fine. What could be wrong?

had the same problem. hee is, what worked for me: delete all pairing from device and PC. connect to pc with USB and install the Kaiser as modem. in active sync - connections - select the right USB serial port. after this it worked for me
tried both solutions above , but cant get the activesync service on my device :S
FINALLY SOLVED:
-In control panels Bluetooth Local COM
-Removed COM6
-Added COM6 as Bluetooth virtual COM port for a SERVER
Can you explain this? Are those settins on the device? or pc?
thnx
yeah, a little more details would be nice. I can see the Bluetooth Local COM in the device manager but how do i install the virtual one?
problem solved here
- reinstalled activesync!!!!!
- added bluetooth paired device on ppc with my laptop
- in bluetooth settings on the laptop i added an incoming port , laptop added port 11 automaticly
- in active sync in connection settings, i said , use port 11 for incoming connections
- on pda i refreshed the services of the paired laptop , serial port service became activesync service!!
problem solved for me
If people are still having the problem (as I was using a Widcomm based BT adapter) you should go check out the registry entry at \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\ActiveSync. If you've deleted all the pairings and you still see a folder in there with some numbers, open it up and check the value of RasEntry. If it says the name of any device that you've paired your phone with, go back out to the ActiveSync folder (one level up) and delete that folder. Then re-pair and set up the serial port on your local computer to be the same as the one that ActiveSync (on your desktop) allows connections from in the Connection Settings preferences.

Tried that, but that didn't help. I have a Anycom USB-200 Widcomm based bluetooth dongle and a O2 XDA Neo (aka HTC Prophet) with Prophet Touch IX WM6 installed and I'm using Active Sync 4.5. It worked for me with WM5 before a while ago. I don't remember what I did differently that time.
