Need help. Trying to set up blue tooth on cingular 8125. Just bought new kensington bt and it set up serial com as com 4 and 5. The phone only gives u the option of com 6 and com 7. Any ideas? The BT does connect to phone but activesync cant find phone. Tried activsync 4.1 and 4.2. Thanks in advance for help.
I'm having the same trouble. i scoured this and other forums but can't find any info on this problem. I think we may need to upgrade the rom on our phones. I'm still running the stock rom and i think if we upgrade that might correct the problem.
I talked to the support team at HTC about this issue, they say that the activesync feature is a function of the drivers that are loaded onto your PC. If you pair your phone and don't see activesync as an available option, then try to upgrade or reinstall your BT driver. I wouldn't have thought it would work, but a simple uninstall and reinstall of my existing bluetooth software fixed the problem for me.

This is the simpliest method to fix the problem.
I had many bad rounds of this and finally did a reinstall of the bluetooth and then Active"stink" (crappy program for many reasons).
You have to make sure that you can identify the port that you 8125 establishes a bluetooth session with beforee you try to sync with. This port number is used in Activesync to know which port to talk through.
Please make sure that in the connections of Activesync that you choose the port for which you identified as bluetooth connected to your device.
THEN try to re-establish a bluetooth Activesync connection from your 8125 (pair it if you need to) and "bing" there should the option for Activesync.

If you guys still have problems with this after let me know. I played with this for a few hours about a month ago and could retrace my steps. A couple of phone reboots after setting up the ports helped
Just to add, I noticed that once I upgraded the ROM to Summiter's 2.25 I was able to walk out of BT range and when I returned re-sync via ActiveSync without doing a soft-reset of the phone.
As SK7575 said, be sure to post there are plenty of folks using this connectivty option and it does work....
And I had this working - nicely syncing between my cingular 8125 and laptop via BT!!
But then I tried to get my 8125 to connect to my new wireless network - which did not work - and in the process of trying everything I must have broken something, because now after trying everything imaginable I just never see that activesync service on my 8125 any more.
The last I tried was to remove all the BT serial ports from device manager after deleting them from the HP bluetooth neighborhood (I have a bigger HP laptop with built in BT).
Then rebootet and four new BT ports were found and installed. Then I told the HP software to make a new incoming port (they call it service) and got COM 5. Then I told activesync on the PC to use COM5 for syncing.
Made sure all pairing was removed. booted both the HTC and PC - paired the two - bang - no 'activesync' service.
Now I am running out of options especially as I don't know how to un- and reinstall the HP software that comes with the laptop.
Any ideas?

I also have the HP BT stack on my laptop and ActiveStink does not sync with my MDA.
Any answers here, may help get me synced via BT.
Is the trick to see which USB port comes alive when I connect MDA via USB?
and use that on my PC for ActiveSync to listen to via BT on my laptop?

I'd be glad to hear if someone has the Belkin F8T012 USB dongle and that they have that working with bluetooth ActiveStink.
'Cause everything I've tried, I never ever see the "Activesync" profile appear on my device when pairing, I only see an available Serial Port.
Does anyone know the details of how that active sync profile is cretaed on the 'puter? If I could troubleshoot from that angle, I bet I'd have it working...

I jut encountered another Problem (which is severe in my opinion):
I connot connect to my Notebook over the active Sync Bluetooth Option.
It shows the Notebook, when searchning for it, bit Active Sync 4.0 doesn't seem to give the right service...
I am having this activesync problem also.
I can sync using the cradle. I tried setting up the connect via BT, but the BA is giving me a message : "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports Activesync. Would you like to set it up now?"
And i believe that i did set it up already.
my phone settings are:
under BT devices on my phone my computer is listed. under com ports i have Incoming com port 8.
my PC settings are
Devices : My phone
Options: all checked
COM ports: COM8 incoming
in MSActive sync 4.0:

still cannot figure out what is wrong.

ActiveSync w/BT okay here...
I can sync via BT without a problem.... it was a little strange on how the AS connection was created.
Anyway, I made sure my laptop was paired with the SX66. Started ActiveSync on the SX66, an clicked on ActiveSync via Bluetooth in the Menu. A screen popped up saying there were no valid BT connections and took me to the BT manager. I chose my laptop and an "Activesync Connection" was created... On the PC, I made sure to allow the proper COM port in AS (in my case, AS always used Com5 when using WM2003).
I didn't create and Incoming/Outgoing connection prior to the PDA prompting me, also deleted any existing partnerships on PDA and PC.
Sorry for the vagueness, this was one of the first things I tried after upgrading to WM5... I can try to answer any other questions. Good luck!
Just got it to work.
collowed chen's directions sort of.
I deleted existing partnerships on MS Activesync on PC and SX66.
I deleted existing pairing on Bluetooth devices under PC BT icon.
I enabled a comport under Bluetooth Devices/ COMPORTS for incoming.
I re-added the sx66 under bluetooth devices, set pass key, this time on my sx66 it listed "activesync" as one of the services offered.
Acknowledged everything on the SX66.
Then opened Active sync (at this point i still did not add the sx66 to activesync on my PC) on SX66.
Chose connect VIA BT under menu, and woila it asked if i wanted to create a partnership.
Now i am syncing via BT....i guess the difference between WM5 and wm03 is that with 03 i think i had to set it up via the cradle before BT.

It depends on the PC's bluetooth stack. Anything else than Widcomm is problematic.

It worked pretty easy on my S730. Make sure you enable BT on the phone and your computer. Pair the PC with the S730 and start ActiveSync on your mobile. Select the option 'Connect via Bluetooth' and that was it (for me).
you seem to be using activesync, however i use windows mobile device center with windows vista x32... so the procedure is different and much more problematic it seems... not just with the s730 but with all wm devices

I use Windows Vista Business (32-bit) and I needed to upgrade Mobile Device Center. It works without any problems afterwards. The only disadvantage is that I need to manually connect on my phone, before it starts synchronizing. I would rather have it syncronized whenever it is near my laptop.

I had the same problem. Open you WMDC and go into Mobile Device Settings and select Connection Settings. Under Allow connection to one of the following: change the selection from Bluetooth to COM7.
Then open your device and set up your bluetooth connection again. You should see Activesync now.
You are most likely using the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack instead of WIDCOMM.

From your response I think you are trying to set the COM port on your device but you should be changing it in Windows Mobile Device Center.
I'll go step by step in case I was not clear.
1- Disconnect your Wing from your computer.
2- Open Windows Mobile Device Center
3- The only option should be "Mobile Device Settings"
4- In Mobile Device Settings you should have two option Connection Settings and End a partnership, select Connection Settings.
5- Under the second check box "Allow connection to one of the following" there is a drop-down box which should currently read "Bluetooth". In the drop-down box change that selection to COM7.
Note: If COM7 is not available, then I suggest you uninstall your Bluetooth device drivers and then reinstall them.
6- Close Windows Mobile Device Center
Now return to your device.
Delete any existing Bluetooth connections to your computer. and reestablish your Bluetooth connection. You don't need to change any COM settings on your device. Just establish your connection and you should have the Activesync option once it is reconnected.
This is under the assumption that you are running the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack on your computer. If you are and it doesn't work, I'm all out of ideas.
I should have specified that as of Step 2 above, this is all done on your computer not your smartphone, i.e. HTC Wings.
Your problem with Bluetooth is on the computer not the device, most likely.
this doesnt work... i did all the things like u told me on the computer.

So my last suggestion is to delete both connections. The one on your computer and then the one on your device.

Something currious happened with my device when I was reestablishing my Bluetooth connection, which may be of interest to you.
I erased my original Bluetooth connection and while reestablishing it my device was also connected to my computer with the USB cable. When I paired the device, there was no option for ActiveSync. I disconnected my device and then started the Bluetooth pairing over and this time ActiveSync was available.

Any of you guys who have sucessfully pairedd WDMC in Vista with S730 over bluetooth use original MS out-of-box bluetooth drivers?
I've only used the Toshiba and Widcomm Bluetooth Stacks and have been able to sync with both on Vista.

because as soon as i enter the bluetooth password on my phone and computer, there appears a bluetooth connection in the manager from toshiba. this connection has a "network" symbol and the services offered are com port and stereo audio. thats not much is it? and also when i click "connect" an error comes up.. connection couldnt be established or something.
i hate this. how can be a SIMPLE task so problematic?
toshiba drivers are working fine. send and receive works. and my phone is fine too. the wmdc work fine as well via USB. i also installed the wmdc UPDATE..... wtf right?!

I'm at a complete loss to understand why you can't get WMDC to work with your phone over BT. You've done everything I've done but unlike you I was able toe stablish the connection.
The only other thing I can think of is to download the latest BT drivers from Toshiba. But before you install them, make a copy of the TosBtChk.dll file and once you've completed the installation of your new BT drivers, replace the new TosBtChk.dll with the one you saved. This will stop you from receiving the trial period notification.
If that doesn't work, then maybe replace your Toshiba BT stack with the Widcomm stack. You'll need to locate a version compatible with your computer.

You have to understand Widcomm is not a free replacement for your MS drivers. Its commercial and it can only be obtained with some BT hardware, not as stanalone product AFAIK. As that, it is a bit complicated to make it work with unsupported device (but quite possible). And where to get it? Generally, if you are able to pirate, you are also able to google.
However, I assume you have legal OS installed on your Sony laptop - why not to tell MS they BT drivers SUCK A BIG TIME? Go tell them its crap that does not EVEN WORK TOGETHER WITH THEIR OWN UTILITIES.

I've also got a Sony Vaio, SZ45, and on the Notebook Review forum, there is a thread that discusses replacing the Toshiba BT stack with Widcomm, which you can get free of charge. Microsoft are not the developers of the Widcomm Bluetooth Stack, it's owned by Broadcom. It can be obtained for free, however, you're right in saying it may not work with non-Broadcom hardware. In A.Bagatov's case, the issue is with Toshiba not Microsoft. They are the one's who developed a driver that is not always compatible with non-Toshiba products.
According to other posts I've, the Microsoft generic Bluetooth drivers would appear to work just fine with Windows Mobile devices, however, I was unable to get it working and did not pursue the matter any further once I was able to get the Toshiba BT Stack to function.
I can sympathize with your frustration, but your post does not help him solve his problem.

I have rePaired my computer with the Tilt, created a port (com5) on my computer, set ActiveSync to use Com5. But when I try to issue a Bluetooth Activesync...it says that it cannot connect beause it's not a ActiveSync Port. Checking the available services shown on the Tilt reported by the PC...shows only Serial Port. I have tried everything I can...remove the Com Ports, replace the com ports, different com ports, remove all pairings, etc. Still cannot get the Tilt to see the ActiveSync service.
I CAN sync via cable...but I just want to cut the cords when traveling. (The less the better.)

However, depending on the version you use I reccomend you start in Activesync Help. Launch A/S, go to help menu, select "connecting a mobile device to pc", then select "connect to activesync using bluetooth".

i use a BT Dongle to sync with Activesync and was having that same problem. To correct this, i deleted the current sync relationship on both the PC and the PPC. i also deleted the BT Pairing on both the PC and PPC as well. Once that was all done, i repaired the PPC with the PC and it found the Activesync Port. and it works beautifully both via BT and USB Cable.

I know that it's probably too late to post this, but I had the same problem just now. What I did is I removed all other USB cables that are connected to my computer and tried to pair again. And viola, I see my activesync.
I'm in the same situation
My mini usb port on the phone charges, but it doesn't connect to ActiveSync. So I went and bought a bluetooth dongle for my laptop & desktop. On my desktop I allowed the OS (WinXP) to install it's drivers. I followed the instructions on the Activesync help and it worked beautifully. On my laptop on the other hand it didn't first with xp driver and then with the drivers included with the dongle I just couldn't set a com port that Activesync could use (it has to be numbered below 20 and all I get is 24 and beyond). To make matters worse the included drivers tend to hang my laptop so no joy.
This dongle's Interlink NANO Bluetooth VP6494 & the drivers are by Toshiba.
Any ideas??!!
This is how I fixed it for me
First I uninstalled the Toshiba BT drivers that came with my dongle. Then I erased the laptop pairing in my kaiser. Then I uninstalled a couple of programs (Motorola phone tools, Samsung Studio & some other for a Sony Ericson) from my laptop. After that I plug the dongle back in, allowed XP to install it's drivers.
After that I was able configure a COM port with a number less than 20 & have been able to sync thru Bluetooth since.

After hours of searching and trying, and failing, I have given in, and decided to go ahead and ask. Please be gentle, I know how much everyone hates when people ask already answered questions, but I have honestly spent hours trying to solve this problem.
I am unable to get bluetooth sync to work (Windows XP).
I kept getting too high a COM port number, and was not able to select it on ppc.
After many searches both here and Google, I was finally able to get a COM port which was low enough for my Tilt to recognize (COM port 9). I Added new device to Tilt, and FINALLY I had ActiveSync as an option.
It indicated I should select COM port 9 to sync. I have also gone into my bluetooth place on PC, and verified that it shows COM 9 as My Serial Port. I have also checked, and my PC does show up on ppc bluetooth devices. I have double checked that ppc is discoverable. I also added 9 under COM ports on phone.
However, ActiveSync on PC does not list COM port 9 as an option.
Also, when I try to add Tilt to My bluetooth places (on PC), it tells me no available COM ports on ppc.
If I go to Activesync on phone, and click connect via bluetooth, it says opening port, then connecting to host, and a pop-up on pc states that ppc is connected to blueooth serial port on PC (COM 9). After this, all activity stops, and active sync does not ever connect.

You don't need to set a COM port on the PPC itself. Delete it as well as the pairing with your PC.
On the PC, check the Serial Port service is enabled in the BT settings. I'd then make sure the COM port number is between 1-8. Now where this is done depends on the BT software stack you have on the PC, it can be in the BT settings, or you might have to go in the device manager, COM ports, find the Bluetooth COM port and change its number here in the advanced properties.
Open Activesync connection settings, check the COM port tick and select the port in the dropdown. If you can't see the port here and select it it won't work, so theres no chance your current setup will work.
Then on the phone add new device, select the PC, type same passwords on both sides to create the pairing. In the next service window you should have Activesync, tick it, finish. This should now work, at least I've always done that way for years now with different PCs and PPCs. Activesync is crap though, and on some configurations I needed to kill the activesync process and relaunch it everytime before connecting or it wouldn't work, or open the connection settings, remove the COM port tick and dismiss, then open again and put it back.
Also, when you connect on the PPC, some PC bluetooth stacks will ask you everytime if you want to allow the connection, but the prompt doesn't appear unless you go manually click in the BT tray icon. That was on my last PC.
There are often small issues but I always got it to work somehow

I deleted the COM port on phone, as you instructed.I also deleted pairing.
I wasn't able to set COM port to a lower number than 9. There was no advanced properties for the COM ports in device manager. I even enabled show hidden devices, and show non present devices. Still nothing. I have no idea what is trying up the lower numbered COM ports.
Somewhere along the line, ActiveSync started showing COM port 9 as an option. After selecting it, it now works perfectly.
I am however mad, and frustrated as I don't know which of the MANY steps I took fixed it. I wish I did, so I could post it here, and hopefully help someone else who is about to pull their hair out trying to get their Kaiser to sync via bluetooth. Not to mention if I ever have to set it up again for myself, I have no clue what got it working

Check what COM Port your Bluetooth on PC is using
Start Active Sync/File/Connections/Allow Connections from the following (select COM here)
Hit OK then Sync.

Thanks for the steps, but believe me, I had tried that dozens of times. My problem wasn't with setting up pairing or anything like that. All the COM ports assigned to bluetooth were way too high for ppc to recognize. Eventually after much effort I got the serial COM port down to COM port 9 (which the phone now was able to use, before it had been 16, 17, 18). Active Sync refused to recognize that COM port. Anyway (as I mentioned in my previous post), after hours of trying, COM port 9 magically showed up as an option in Active Sync. Sadly I am not sure which of the many steps I took fixed the issue.

Don't worry, the first time I tried to sync a PPC via BT I had the exact same kind of problem and never found out how I got it to work. But since then the steps above have worked well

Okay, this is really becoming RIDICULOUS!
I had it syncing perfectly last night. All I did, was go to bed. Turned off bluetooth on phone, and turned off PC.
Today when I went to sync again, COM port 9 is no longer listed in ActiveSync.
And of course, it will not sync. I have tried everything to get COM post 9 to show up again, and it will not. My bluetooth serial post is still listed as COM port 9, and when I establish a connection, it connects, It just won't connect to ActiveSync. I tried deleting the pairing, and re-pairing, but now ActiveSync is not longer listed as an option on phone after pairing.
Any ideas, or suggestions would REALLY be appreciated. And believe me, I have searched, and searched, and then searched some more, I just can't fix this.

Actually, I should have said I have the Widcomm stack installed. I am not however sure how to verify that it is being used.
i once read that it works with BlueSoliel, not Widcomm. Try that. BlueSoliel worked for me, but not Widcomm.
I'm using Widcomm (actually the one that is bundled with my Logitech MX5000 desktop bluetooth keyboard/mouse) and it works perfectly fine. On my laptop I have a Toshiba stack and it works well too. Maybe you have an old version that is bogus? I have had trouble to get the widcomm stack to work at the beginning, Windows default crappy stack would always take the BT hardware over preventing the Widcomm stack from using it.

Just got a new mini dongle I'm trying to use BlueSoliel, but am having trouble, I can push to my phone, listen to music via stereo bluetooth, but can't serial. BlueSoliel gives an option in tools/configuration/quick connect to assign com ports, but the ones shown won't show on my phone as an outgoing/incoming port...have you figured this out? All I want to do is Activesync via Bluetooth.
You don't need any port to appear on the phone for sync. What matters is the COM port number on the PC. You need to know it, set activesync to use it, then do a pairing preferably from the phone, and select on the phone to use the PC's "ActiveSync" service that should appear in the list if the PC configuration is OK.
Basically there's nothing to configure on the phone. If something's wrong it's 95% chance that it's on the PC.

I just bought a Bluetooth dongle for my PC. (Trust Ultra Small Bluetooth 2.1 Usb Adapter 25 M)
The main reasons for buying this was so I could sync without using one of my very spare USB ports.
Another big reason was that I really want to try SideShow.
So, I hooked the thing up, installed it. Works like a charm for most services (files etc). It just doesn't work for two things: ActiveSync (on the phone)/Windows Device Center (on my PC) and Windows SideShow. Yay.
Could you please help me out?
To summarize:
PC with Vista Home Premium,
Trust Ultra Small Bluetooth 2.1 Usb Adapter 25 M,
HTC S730.
Not working for ActiveSync nor SideShow.

PS: I installed something called "X86-PC Drivers.cab" I found in some thread. That's supposed to be the drivers for the SideShow service on the PC. (I think I installed them, I did not get an error from Rundll32...)
EDIT: what might be of use: I can't get the devices to pair if I use the PC to initiate that. The PC does not find the phone untill I pair them using to phone to initiate.
I don't know about SideShow but I managed once to ActiveSync my Wings through Bluetooth. Just be sure to remove any security restricition on your Bluetooth settings on your device. Like Secure Connection etc... Also, setup a serial port when you connect with your PC and then, at PC ActiveSync settings, at connection settings -> Allow Connections To One Of The Following (Com 4 or whatever). And then, at ActiveSync on your mobile, connect through Bluetooth. Try it and come again if it doesn't work.
Yes! Thank you. It's syncing as I type. That COM4 did the trick!
In the same way, you can have Internet on your mobile through Bluetooth's activesync connection. It is helpful if you don't have wifi on your mobile.
