have a look in 27c65cbd_manila, should be there, it's same sort of xml. please provide feedback if you success in your purpose
you can just edit 27c65cbd_manila to looks like this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<InternetPortal>
<IncludeUserFavorites>True</IncludeUserFavorites>
<Banner
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner.qtc"
SelectedImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner_selected.qtc"

Created a png icon with size 96x96px and put it in windows folder.
Is there anyway to have the Internet Tab use another browser than Opera 9.5, like Opera Mini?
if you try to search should be an appz in development&hacking able to change messaging, clock and broser invoked by manila... I remember that but I lost it in the forum please post a link when you find it, keep searching
I can add bookmarks by changing the manila file, but they all opens up in IE not opera.

Tried that version, and the bookmarks do show in TF3D. However, the physical keypad does not work perfectly (at times). One issue is that after a few seconds, the onscreen keypad closes and also stops you from using the physical pad.
To get the bookmarks in the internet tab, quickfix
the easiest way to add bookmark in the internet tab is to manually create a dir in windows called opera9 (windows\opera9)
then copy this file from root: application data\opera9\opera6.adr to the new dir in windows. (windows\opera9)
then they will show up.
this is just a quick fix, new bookmarks will not show up..
I use the TAEL rom from Oct 22nd (Windows Mobile 6.5, TF3d 2.1.38680). As you can see on my screenshot, my bookmarks are also empty. I didn't try the option to copy the file from appdata to windows because I think that there must be a config parameter to adjust the path of the bookmarks... Anyone an idea?
Thanks!

Ok - I admit it - I am indeed seemingly the only person in the world who doesn't regularly view YouTube!
Therefore I'd like to remove it from my Favourites list on the Internet tab of TF3D.. although from what I can see this one is hardcoded (and not an Opera Favourite, indeed this link actually opens up the YouTube client and no Opera).
However.. while on the subject.. has anyone figured out how to control the ordering that these Favourites are displayed on the TF3D tab? From what I can make out, while within Opera they are alphabetic, in TF3D they are listed in the order they were created.
All ideas/suggestions welcomed! Thanks.
youtube...
No, you're not the only person. I don't watch youtube too. I'd like to remove it complete from the device. Any chance?
Well.. I've removed the whole internet tab from TF3D altogether (using TF3D config).
It's nothing but a globe and some links.. which I can also get from the programs tab. Ya might wanna try removing this whole tab and adding the opera link into your programs tab instead
I do not use it 2
I also had a problem with the internet tab. In my case (MDA compact IV) the opera favorites weren't displayed on the tab.
I've been searching the diamond and found some xml files in the following directory:
\Application Data\manila
There are several xml-files, choose the one for your own language-country combination. This file determines the contents of the internet tab.
1) Make a backup of the xml-file
2) Clear the read-only and the system flags of the xml-file.
3) Make the necessary changes.
4) Save and you are ready.
To remove the you-tube link, You'll have to delete the <link .... > entry from the <OperatorLinks> section.
P.S.
While you're there, you can also remove the <banner > field to get rid of the logo, and remove/change/add OperatorLinks ( e.g. the Search link), and detrmine wether you want to display the opera favorites.
By Christ. Removing the internet tab just to get rid of a bookmark is a bit bloody over the top!
Just delete the bookmarks you don't want from opera and they disappear.
How hard do you really need to make it??
Sheesh!!!
I realise that t-mobile and the other networks may have screwed with the touchflo to bugger it up, but if you have an HTC branded one then just edit the opera bookmarks!!
@Mods: perhaps someone could merge all these threads as they are all about the same topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408035
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408641
The solution posted above and in the other threads seems only to work for the MDA compact IV but not for the Diamond. Does anybody know how to change the internet tab on the Diamond?
Many thanks to all - I'd given up hope after my first ask
It's nice to be able to add icons for the operator links (only 62x62 tho')

Hey retard, why don't you shut up and go back to kindergarten! He can't DO THAT. It is NOT an Opera bookmark and you can't just delete it. If it was he would have done that - don't assume everybody is as stupid as you.

It's not working here. I removed the also the whole OperatorLinks section and you tube still there. I've tried to remove the read only flag and the system flag of the file. Try to softreset and deactivating touchflo3d before changing the file. Nothing works for me. Also i've searching the whole windows directory for other occurencies of the text 'you tube' and found nothing related. Additionaly I tried to changed the text 'you tube' in the OperatorLinks section, but the text didn't changed in the touchflo3d after restarting.
I'm using 1.93.
I, too, am interest in this! I'm sure there has to be a registry entry to remove it. Oh registry wizards?! Where art thou???
This variant worked on Touch diamond 1.93.
I thought I was the only one that didn't see youtube as the meaning of life and the Internet. It appears that we are at least a handful.
I did something VERY similar to the above and it worked (first shot) on a TD with 1.93.
But since the above didn't work for all, I better describe EXACTLY what I did:
1) By activesync copied the XML-file to PC
2) Removed RO-fileattribute
3) Opened it with notepad
4) Renamed the <Banner to <BBanner
5) Renamed (both halfs) of <OperatorLinks> to <OOperatorLinks>
6) Saved the file
7) Copied it back to another dir on th TD
8) Removed RO on original
9) Used TotalCommander to copy my changed file over the running.
10) Pressed the red reset-button
And look and behold. After boot It worked. The globe also went.
I noticed that the .qtc files mentioned in the .xml doesn't exist at the location given. e.g.
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner.qtc"Nor anywhere else?
Actually the whole structure
"\Windows\HTC\doesn't exist!
Nor is there anywhere a directory or registry entry "InterNetPortal" nor "Assets"!! So this is all very strange...
But the interesting thing is that the widget now only shows my favorites.
Hope it works for others as well.
I must emphasize that I didn't try the original method, so that might also have done the trick.
After change, the file looks like this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<InternetPortal>
<IncludeUserFavorites>True</IncludeUserFavorites>
<BBanner
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner.qtc"
SelectedImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner_selected.qtc"
Text="Start webbrowser"
Width="480"
Height="215" /> <OOperatorLinks>
<Link
Text="YouTube"
Executable="\windows\youtube.exe"
ImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\youtube.qtc" /> </OOperatorLinks></InternetPortal>
----
After some more testing, I found out that the very odd values for "DefaultImagePath" and "SelectedImagePath" are MAGIC words! They could be replaced with 'any' picture-file. If the path or filename is invalid/nonexistent the picture is omitted. If these two magic values are used the standard globe will be used. The picture is scalable by height/width
Order of Opera favorites on widget, opera6.adr format
The favorites are shown on the widget in the order they appear in opera6.adr.
Opera6.adr is a rather plain text-file. But please note that by default the unix-style <LF>-only is used as line separator.
So if possible avoid editing with windows notepad, or change the <LF>'s
In vista-notepad <LF>'s are treated as zero-width blanks(!!), so it's VERY easy to get confused and mess things up. I wasted a lot of time, thinking it was a proprietary format, before I discovered the <LF>'s...

How did you edit it finally?
Vista WordPad?
EDIT:
I stopped touchflo, removed read only and system checkmarks on the file. Copied it over to the PC. Used Vista wordpad to open it. Edited it and when finished clicked save. Copied the new file over to the phone, replacing the one there. Started up touchflo and it worked!

Well when I discovered the LF's it was easy. Just replaced LF with CRLF, this can be done in many editors.

How'd you manage to add icons for the operator links and are they limited to 62x62 simply due to the available space? Can icons be added for the favorites too?

Hello there,
can anybody with T-Mobile MDA compact IV confirm, that there is no possibility to configure the favorites shown in the internet-Tab of TouchFlow 3D?
My german TMob MDAcIV shows only two favorites ("MobileTV" and "Suche") and i don't see any possibility to add more. I tried to add some within opera and within PIE and none of these are visible in TF3D. Plus i can't find any "normal" configuration-screen to add favorites / bookmarks here. Is there any Patch known for this, e.g. within the registry?
Thanks in advance,
Malte
Try editing opera6.adr in the Opera directory. By doing this you can add (backup) your site links and also change the order in which they appear on the Internet tab. The order isn't changed in Opera though as this is always displayed in alpha order.
I hope that helps you.
Sorry, but your answer doesn't help me. I can modify the bookmarks inside opera - either directly inside opera (via the "star"-button) or via editing the opera6.adr.
My problem is, that the bookmarks never appear on the internet-tab inside TouchFlow3d. I thought - as i remember the htc-launch-event-video right - i could see my bookmarks in the TouchFlow3d Tab and coud access them directly by pressing one and opera should be launched afterwards directly accessing the chosen url.
Or am i getting something wrong here???
anyone with any info on this?

I've got the same problem. I have a MDA Compact IV and on my Internet Tab it has a logo of web 'n' walk (the internet service of T-Mobile) and below it one favorite: Search. I've added a few favorites, but they won't show up in this tab. I do see them in Opera itself, but I'd like to have them in the TF3D tab also.
after debranding and reinstalling opera from rom you will still see web n walk icon but additional you'll find your opera bookmarks below.

What exactly is debranding? For example I'm currently using the TF3D Config and selected the HTC Black theme instead of my default T-Mobile theme. So basicly it's debranded or is debranding something else?
I had the same problem, and I found it very annoying.
I've been searching the diamond and found some xml files in the following directory:
\Application Data\manila
There are several xml-files, choose the one for your own language-country combination.
1) Make a backup of the xml-file
2) Clear the read-only and the system flags of the xml-file.
3) Change the value of the <IncludeUserFavorites> field to TRUE
4) Save and you are ready.
P.S.
While you're there, you can also remove the <banner > field to get rid of the logo, and remove/change/add OperatorLinks ( e.g. the Search link)

i think i am in the right thread but cannot find the folder above. should i be looking in the registry or in the explore? either way i can't find the correct file to edit... help would be great
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<InternetPortal>
<IncludeUserFavorites>True</IncludeUserFavorites>
<Banner
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner.qtc"
SelectedImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner_selected.qtc"
Text="Launch Browser"

Text="YouTube"
Executable="\windows\youtube.exe"
ImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\youtube.qtc" />
</OperatorLinks> =====================> HERE, FAVOURITE LINKS ARE SET...
</InternetPortal>
So if you want to change the homepage URL to anything else, just type the URL you want.
And if you want to add or remove favourite links, jus add in the same order "YouTube" has been added. Remove? Then remove the whole code > "FROM HERE to HERE part"
If you want to add a link icon, you can do so, but be sure to set the right location of the "ImagePath"=
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, DONT USE Windows notepad, use Notepad++ (its jus ~5mb and free software, you can google and download)
WHY? Because the XML file is encoded in utf-16 and if you edit this file in notepad and press save, the encode maybe lost.
Of coz those who are familiar with notepad can do so...its ur wish

my internet tab looks now like this:

I just tried to find the folder referenced to in that post and can't find it on my Diamond.
While browsing on the device, I see two files called "InternetPortal" that are XML that will open within Opera.
How can I back them up and edit them? I can't see them when browsing the device on my laptop.
*EDIT*
Nevermind, I'm logged into to a different OS than usual on my laptop, and didn't have system files viewable.

How have you managed to customize it like that? At the moment I'm only able to get it to remove the banner (which it replaces with I'm assuming a default "launch browser" image) and it the one link I want remains.
My XML looks like this
HTML:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<InternetPortal>
<IncludeUserFavorites>True</IncludeUserFavorites>
<!--<Banner
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\_Telstra_banner.qtc"

<Link
Text="YouTube"

You see I've commented out everything but the YouTube link, and added a custom Google image and link. Is it that it doesn't support JPG? I've got no info on qtc files, otherwise I'd use one of them to keep the convention.
Cheers.

Hmm.
The syntax in both our XML is fine. The only difference is the <browser> tag, which my original XML files didn't have, so I didn't think to include.
Do you happen to know the properties of your jpg? 48x48 is the standard dimension, I'm using 96DPI, but that shouldn't make too much difference.
Do you know when the XML is loaded? Is it on startup, or when the tab is accessed?

i don´t have any idea about .xml. i only displaced the things i thought it schould work
the xml is loaded when the tab is accessed. i didn´t have to restart.
my picture is 41x48 pixel and 24bit true color.
Ok, it really doesnt seem to like Dreamweaver, so I'm doing my editing in notepad.
So I've figured that if I have a corrupt or no XML file in Manila, it reverts back to a defaul "Launch Browser" banner, with a pretty cool image of a globe. For some reason the YouTube app is also in there, so that must be pulled in from elsewhere.
If I have the correct XML, it removes the banner and uses the settings from the XML, which has no banner set. So can anyone tell me the default banner properties? I really want that "Launch Browser" banner, with my own custom links.
can you just use my xml? maybe this works and you just have to edit the path to the pictures!? i use notepad too.

No your XML has that iGoogle banner you created. I want the default one, but because it's pulling from custom XML, and no banner is specified in that, it isn't producing one.
If I remove my XML, it goes back to default, so I need to know what the default settings are (image location/name/dimensions, executable target) and then plug them into my custom XML.
But the earlier problem I was having was because I was using Dreamweaver. I'm not entirely sure why, but switching to notepad opened the thing up for me and everything works as it should, just without a banner.
If I get no info from anyone, I might post back in a new topic about it.

The youtube player is definitely on the FUZE its just not on the programs menu or the tf3d internet tab. Its hidden in the windows directory. You will have to go searching for it.
In that case use file explorer on the device and copy the youtube.exe file.
Go to the windows\startmenu\programs folder and then paste a shortcut.
Just tried it out and it works fine.
the app shows for me but does not play when copied anyone else having this issue?
I added it to the Internet tab on my Fuze, just under the homepage button and above my favorites. (Where it is on all the European versions of the Touch Pro!)
The process isn't too difficult but you'll need a good file explorer like Total Commander and if you're not comfortable editing Read-Only TF3D files, then DON'T TRY THIS!!
You'll need to edit the InternetPortal-en-US.xml file located in the \Application Data\Manila\ folder, so it's probably a good idea to make a backup of the file before you start messing with it.
Find the <OperatorLinks> section in the file.
Between <OperatorLinks> and </OperatorLinks> add this text:
<Link
Text="YouTube"
Executable="\windows\youtube.exe"
ImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\youtube.qtc"
/>
Save the file and make it Read-Only again and you should have a YouTube icon on your Internet tab.

Yeah, you can change the default launch page in that file, too.
In the <Banner> section, edit the NavigateURL to whatever page you want it to open by default and change the Text to match.
e.g.
NavigateUrl="http://www.google.com/"
Text="Google"

Badass thank you so much!!!
Worked like a charm! Thanks!
This worked great.... Could you do a favor and put an app that would add windows live mobile just above or below the same youtube link?
Hmm. I found the app in \windows and ran it. It just sits there spinning and saying downloading. I waited several minutes, but it appears to be hung rather than doing anything; in particular, sliding out the keyboard doesn't change it to landscape mode. I am connected; I can run Opera and get to web sites. Any ideas?

Mine did the same thing the first time I ran the YouTube app. I had to change the category using the buttons at the top (from Featured to Top Rated or vice-vera) and then it worked fine.

this should work. just add this line after the YouTube one:
<Link
Text="LiveSearch"
Executable="\Program Files\Live Search\LSLaunch.exe"
ImagePath="\windows\msn.bmp" />
that's not a very good icon but it was all i could find and it's better than nothing. i'm sure someone on here can recommend a better icon but that should give you the general idea for adding apps to the internet tab.
I can't seem to find the youtube.exe program file anywhere. I looked in my programs on the Fuze and all the directories in windows explorer to no avail. Am I looking at the wrong place? Or can I download this file somewhere and install it? I am new to WinMo devices and everything is just so new to me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't work for me -- still just "Downloading..." forever. Anybody else have any ideas?
Youtube Icon
Great advice IT, my main MediaNet globe icon was set to device.home which was a dead link or something, just hung every time I pressed it, changed it as you described and works pefectly. The YouTube works as well, but I have a question:
<Link
Text="YouTube"
Executable="\windows\youtube.exe"
ImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPort al\youtube.qtc"
/>
The \Windows\HTC folder doesn't exist (from what I can find) on my Fuze, and the Icon on the tf3d tab is just a white square. Any hints on why that would be, I copied this exactly, even put the /> on a separate line to end etc and no go.
Thank you very much.

It's not that picky, you don't need to put the /> on a separate line. For some reason a space got inserted into InternetPortal when I posted this so you might want to check to make sure you didn't include the space in your file.
I don't have a \Windows\HTC folder either. I'm pretty sure it's some kind of virtual directory that TF3D uses. I looked around a little in the Manila editing thread in the Diamond ROM forum but it's way more complicated than I want to deal with. I'm not sure why I have that icon file and you don't but I'm not running the standard AT&T theme so that might be part of the problem.
You can edit the ImagePath to point to a .jpg file that you want to use as an icon, too. For example, if you take the youtube.jpg file attached to this post and copy it to your \Windows directory on your Fuze, you can change the ImagePath to "\Windows\youtube.jpg" and that should work.
Ive installed the latest opera beta and used various aps to have the new version of the browser (not the one that came with the phone) launch from the touchflo3d menus. However, it still seems to be displaying the bookmarks from the old opera, when I edit bookmarks in the new beta they don't display on the browser touchflo tab.
For now, I copied the opera6.adr file from the beta 9.5 application data folder and overwrote the .adr file in the windows programs directory where the standard opera that came with the phone stores its files.
However, is there a registry edit or app that will allow me to edit the path to the bookmarks file that touchflo uses in its interface?

I have a similar problem. How can someone replace the link in the touchflo tab of internet in order to point to a different browser and not the standard coming with HTC TD?
THANXX
anybody? I am having the same problem
Hi!
I had this problem and eventually found that it is hard-coded in one of the LUA scripts. Sorry, don't know which one from memory. I tried decompiling this script, but I could not get it compliled again - even without changing a character.
So I'm sorry to say that you can't do it that way.
There IS however something you can try:
Open Opera and type opera:config in the title bar.
Under "Saved Settings" and "User Prefs" there's a bunch of paths you can modify.
You might try the "Opera Directory" path under "User Prefs".
Hope this helps.
From a quick look at the first-boot-scripts it seems that the opera6.adr file is placed eventually in \windows\opera9\opera6.adr.
The default bookmarks are cooked in in a file \windows\_opera6.adr and when you first turn on your phone it copies / moves the file to \windows\opera9\opera6.adr. The path also comes up while searching through several _manila files so that also seems to be the location where TouchFlo is looking for the bookmarks.
If you want that Internet tab to be integrated with _another_ browser you have a lot of Decompiling, recompiling, editing of LUA code and hex-editing work to.
Changing browser to point to Opera Mobile 9.5 beta
Someone else posted this & I copied into a Word doc, so I apologize for not giving proper credit:
All you need to do is to modify a file named “InternetPortal-en-US.xml” which is located in \Application Data\Manila. Use the freeware application Total Commander to navigate to this file and once you locate it press the pen/paper icon on the bottom of the page and that will open the file on the screen so you can edit it. Just so everyone knows, we’re not tweaking the registry here. I’m just using Total Commander because it is more powerful than File Explorer so don’t be afraid of it
Ok, once the file is open in Total Commander just add one of the following lines after the line <InternetPortal> which is towards the top:
Opera is:
<BrowserExe>\Windows\OperaL.exe</BrowserExe>
mobile\OperaL.exe</BrowserExe>
Internet Explorer is:
<BrowserExe>\Windows\iexplore.exe</BrowserExe>
SkyFire is:
<BrowserExe>\program files\skyfire\skyfire.exe</BrowserExe>
Iris is:
<BrowserExe>\program files\iris browser\irisbrowser.exe</BrowserExe>
I installed Opera Mobile 9.5 beta to my storage card, so my new path is:
<BrowserExe>\storage card\program files\opera
*Note if you can't save your changes - make sure that the file isn't set on "read only" (click the hand holding the paper icon and uncheck the "read only" box. You may have to click twice to remove the setting)
Yeah I do not see that file anywhere
I have the Sprint branded HTC Diamond and the \Application Data\Manila folder does not exist, I am using Total Commander.

I saw this as a solution to make 9.5 default if you lose 9.5 as the default browser. Are you saying if I upgraded to 9.7 beta, this process will make my 9.7 bookmarks the bookmarks in the TF3D internet tab?
