kaiser and the tomtom one xl - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Has anyone gotten this to work? The tomtom site shows it works for the tytn but not our tytn2 aka kaiser/tilt. I've seen lots of results with the DUN cab and other 6/6.1 devices so I refuse to believe the one xl is not compatible. Has anyone a clue,a lead or resolution so we all can enjoy our traffic updates through this decent gps receiver?

I have a Kaiser AT&T Tilt; downloaded the TomTom Taster v 6; with it I can take the map from my Tom Tom One and use it in my Tilt, no problem.

TOMTOM PROBLEMS. **PLEASE HELP**

Hi,
can someone help me before I rip all my hair out! lol
I just installed tomtom version 5 on my MDA Vario but I can't seem to get the tomtom to recognise the bluetooth receiver.
Can someone tell me a simple solution please where I don't need to edit anything.
I need a DUMMIES guide!
I would really be greatful if someone could upload the prog. or software that would solve the problem + clear instructions.
Thank You
Hi. I had fun with this as well.
I first paired the mda vario with the gps (gpslim236 in my case). it then wouldn't work for me either so I looked up on Tom Toms website under support and there is a topic - how to pair wm5 & Bt receivers, see http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&FID=3236
As we don't have the bluetooth manager it talks about, use your imagination with what is on our Vario's.
i.e. pair the device then set up new outgoing connection & follow on vario instrutions.
Once that has been done, make a note of the com/serial port that was set up - mine was 6 (pretty standard for wizard devices)
launch tom tom, configure GPS - other BT GPS & select the port specifed from above.
Should now work.
I hate the complexity of the WM5 devices compared to the simplicity of my Palm Treo 650, BUT, I love what can be done with the Vario.
I don't regret moving across so far, other than the Treo 650 is a one hand operation wonder.
dreamer181, overwrite your navi file with the one on the forum....search for a thread called How to install tom tom
Doing it the Tom Tom way seems to me much simpler.
As I moved over from a Treo 650, I just copied the contents of my SD card with all the maps and put them on my Vario, then installed the latest 5.2xx program from the website, & then followed Tom Tom's instructions with a little interpretation.

bluetooth gps device for my xda2i

i wanna buy a new bluetooth gps device for my xda IIi, but I can't decide what to buy..I'd pleased if u have any suggestions pls?
which one is most compatible? (I live in Istanbul,Turkey)
Is 16 channel ok or should I need a 32 channel device?
I heard that there's another popular gps software other than tomtom but I can't remember its name, are these devices compatible with most popular softwares or just tomtom?
Thx in advance..
I yhink that the best bluetooth PS receiver is Globalsat BT 339. It works flawlessly and is extremely sesitive to satellite signal. Another good aplication for GPS is Destinator 6.

If I understand you correctly
1. you want to know whether you can share the GPS receiver in the Kaiser with your laptop - Yes but you will need something like Franson GPS Gate to share the built-in GPS signal over activesync or BT.
2. Yes, iGo works fine with th internal receiver.

Yes, you understand me! Thank You!!!
Do you know what is TouchFlo?
TouchFlo is the finger scrolling of menus and panning pictures and web pages. It's inlcuded in the Tilt ROM.

TyTn II and Tom Tom 910 GPS via Bluetooth

Hi,
I moved to the new TyTn II from a 8125 recently. In the past I was able to supply log in info on the 910 to connect via Bluetooth to my 8125 so tomtom could get it's plus services like real time traffic and other features. Once I moved to the Tytn II I can make the bluetooth link but I cant build a connection that pushes out to the internet over the phone. I can however surf just fine on the Tytn II and in fact have it's intermal tomtom Nav 6 GPS working just fine.
Has anyone been successful using the Tytn II to give a tomtom 910 the connection it needs? I'm on the At&T network.
Thanks

No, Kaiser doesn't have an FM tuner or interweb capability. And yes this has been answered before here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2211591&postcount=12

Thanks for the speedy response.
that being said is there an alternative that anyone know on how to configure traffic with Igo8 or to automatically reroute if im using google or something in the background.
You can use TMC with IGO but it would require you to get at bluetooth TMC receiver och a bluetooth GPS with integrated TMC but the ones I´ve found are quite expensive and not easy to find.
oh ok thanks cause i still been searching all over the net for one.

here's the link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400813
If you are in the UK, don't forget TMC is a paid service... unlike the rest of the world.
Okay I emailed the people over at GNS about the bluetooth TMC Transmitter that plugs into a cars lighter plug.
This is what I asked...
When will the GNS TrafficBoxplus FM9BT-C be available for sale, and is it compatible with the HTC Kaiser (AT&T Tilt), Igo 8 and TMC signals in the USA?
Thanks.
This was the reply I recieved.
Dear Mr. Gerado,
thank you for your inquiry. The ramp up time for production of the GNS TrafficBoxplus FM9BT-C will be in the end of october 2008. The GNS TrafficBoxPlus FM9BT is compaible with HTC Kaiser and works also with iGO8 (manual configuration). The GNS TMC receivers support the TMC service in the USA. But it depends on the navigation software (maps), if the received USA TMC data can decoded and used in the navigation software.
Best regards
Gerd Sept
So it looks like in November or so I will be ordering me another "toy" as my wife called my gadget pr0n..
