The new TaskFacade 4.0 contains full support for theming. And it seems to me that its theme paradigma is now well-developed and complete.
SO, THE ONLY THING WE NEEDED IS YOU!
That would be great if we could provide TaskFacade with a full package of themes as soon as possible.
If you have some experience in graphics or inspiration in Task Facade's enhancement - please show up here, in this thread. I guarantee you prompt and full support.

THEME CREATION GUIDELINES

What is a theme?
In Task Facade, a theme is a directory that contains the theme.xml configuration file and all the files referred in it.
The name of the directory is the name of a theme.
All TaskFacade themes are located in the directory, described in settings.xml file, "ThemesFolder" element.
The drawing sequence
This is how TaskFacade draws its surface:
1. Draw background (either a Wallpaper or SolidFill);
2. Draw each slot in memory:
-- Create a copy of a snapshot in memory;
-- Draw a Frame (Titled or Untitled, Selected or Usual) over it (using either alpha-blending or InnerTransparency color for transparency);
-- If necessary, draw a special Frame (CloseProcess or ProcessDead) over it (using either alpha-blending or InnerTransparency color for transparency);
-- If necessary, draw a title;
3. Copy the resulting slot's image to the background, using OuterTransparency color.

Themes work everywhere. The only requirement is the latest TaskFacade 4.0 Alpha2.
All images in TaskFacade 4.x are scalable, so you need only 2 (portrait and landscape) to look nice in any resolution.

glad to see you here.
the only thing we all should consider: in most cases the user sees only the lower-right corner. sometimes the borderspace (top&bottomlines or left&rightlines depending on slots alignment in user's settings). the rest is only gapspace.
so don't rely too much on the middle of the wallpaper.

by the way,
i wonder if you or other guys over here could fulfill a kind of a "request":
we definetely should have "Manilla" and "MacOS" themes in TaskFacade, and i know there are real profis in this area on the forum.
so guys, please show up!
Here is a WVGA skin that looks ok with manilla.
This is supposed to be used without titles and full screen.
I didn't bother changing the titled images from the original skin...
In fact, this is very lazy... all black background and a 1pixel frame (white/green depending on status).
I also corrected all the sizes, so that the stopped/killed program signs are round and not stretched.
I am dumping it here, perhaps someone else likes simplistic skins.

i skinned:
every icon/frame in the theme!
the screenshot shows a black background, but if you enable the wallpaper, i also skinned that!
put the theme into a cab, which also replaces your settings file to enable only the titlebar, disable menubar, fix some other little things
if you dont want to install via cab, simply move the folder in the zip to your taskfacade\themes folder on device! (i included both cab and folder)
i really like what i came up with, so hopefully you all do too!

could you please update your skin a bit.
it's about sizes.
the principle is: maximal size of a wallpaper is screensize (e.g., 480x640 for vga).
however, for frames the maximal size is only quarter-screensize (240x320 for vga). it is because we never show 1 frame.
it will save good amount of memory for users of your skin.

looks like this:
this is a mock up, because i didnt have time to take screenshots, but it looks like this (the only difference is that the titles go all the way across the snapshot instead of being bubbles) with support for landscape as well:
the top is the "gloss with title" and the bottom is the "gloss title below"
"gloss bottom title" has the title on the bottom of the snapshot just like the original gloss
"gloss bottom title" and "gloss with title" have small icons on the top right like above preview (first level) for dead and close icons
"gloss title below" has large close and dead icons like the preview above (second level)
also, if you want to use a solid background, it looks quite nice with 10,10,10 as the background color (offblack)

There are four versions available for download below. They include:
1) WM7 Standard Analog - Analog clock on the Now screen, single Contact page and no MRU page.
2) WM7 Standard Digital - Same as above except has a digital clock on the Now screen.
3) WM7 Professional Analog - Analog clock on the Now screen cycles with a Calendar page, 3 Contacts pages, and MRU page that cycles with the Launcher page.
4) WM7 Professional Digital - I think you get the idea.
For those that may be new to SPB Mobile Shell, please follow these instructions after installing SPB Mobile Shell:
1) Download and unzip the layout below of your choice.
2) Install the font file in the "Fonts" folder to your device in Windows\Fonts
3) Install all files in the "SPB Mobile Shell" to your device in Program Files\SPB Mobile Shell
4) Soft reset your device and enjoy your new phone!
Note: When using with MS v2.1.1 or higher, the status icon hot spots are slightly up and to the right of the icon. I have not found a fix for this yet with these icons.
This version is for QVGA(240x320) screens and is optimized for portrait mode but also supports landscape mode. See posts #2 and #3 for v2 with other screen resolutions.

Ultimate WM7 v2 for QVGA(240x320), WQVGA(240x400), 240x240 and 320x320 Square Screens.
The screenshot below shows darker than it looks on my screen. The backlighting really brings it out.
Screen resolutions other than QVGA I am not able to fully test because I only have a QVGA phone so please report any bugs and I will try to fix them.

Font size of operator name in Today is little bit bigger than in Launcher and Contacts. Could be adjusted?
first opinions of the theme...
The contacts pages are labeled backward, if you sweep right to left, like turning pages in a book, they come out as page 1, 3, 2, and back to 1
I understand the appearance of the "title bar", but if the header and title bar were a bit thinner, you could get the 4th row of icons back on the launcher and dialer.
The icon on the the launcher panel for PROGRAMS... I like the icon itself, but I think something similar to the start button graphic would be more appropriate
I love the blueness... Diamond was getting mundane, but it just seems that things are there just for the sake of being there.
Of course, I am a much better critic than artist. This looks awesome and with a few refinements, I'm sure this will be up with the greats both functionally and visually
mtkates...this is great! I am using in landscape and I really like how the nav bar is at the bottom!

Any chance to spread the nav bar in landscape across the screen (pic below)?
I really liked how greatbal made the clock go to a calendar page instead of clock details in his layouts with MRU
Also agree with post before...would be nice to have a thinner nav bar on top (second pic). It also looks like the operator font is smaller in the second pic
these of course are just observations...take them or leave them, no matter what happens...this is the theme I am using right now...just great!

Thank you all for the feedback and keep it coming.
I don't have answers or fixes yet for all comments but I am saving notes on all feedback and will be making changes, bug fixes, etc. as time and talent allows. Be assured I am listening.
I would also like feedback on performance on your phone. The complex graphics of this theme and my limited knowledge with skinning may have resulted in a memory hog skin. I had some lockup problems in early versions. I hope that's not the case. It works smooth on my phone, but not all phones are alike.
And look for the possibility of different colored versions, hopefully including black.
I am also hoping to do a VGA version in the future as time allows but may have a problem with the graphics.
I really need someone who cam help clean up some of the graphics and also double the size of all for a VGA version that is not so pixilated.
As far as square screen support, the is a huge modification and will probably require the talents of a skinner who has experience with square screen phones.
This is a lot of work, even for the smallest of changes, so please be patient. My goal is to really make it The Ultimate WM7 theme, but quality takes time.

I have plans to try some different colors including black. Attached is a quick and dirty example of what it might look like. Of course I plan on putting more detail into an actual release, such as maintaining color in the launcher icons and adjusting the color of the calendar grid. This is just an example, not a final release.
VGA version will be really appreciated..graphics is not a problem as long as I can use WM7 skin
The thing I like about iPhone's icons is that they are of the same size & shape.
Hence, they are pretty neat to look at and well organized on the device.
BUT I wouldn't like my Xperia to get any resemblance of an iPhone whatsoever.
Otherwise I loose it's uniqueness. And since I feel X1 is better than iPhone, why should I copy something inferior. (Hey, this is just me ok?)

Great looking icons... Only complaint is: aren't the VGA/WVGA icons supposed to be 90x90 (for the WM6.5 start menu at least) and 45x45 for QVGA/WQVGA?

It is already in the zip, the yellow ones are the folders Bluemetalaxe already created these and you will find a GPS one as well. Glad you like them I will work towards completion as soon as possible........
Its Been SOOOooo Long since i saw an icon set i actually liked. These are BOSS icons dude. Thanks MUCH. These will be in my ROM as soon as You've ported the set!!! Putting what I need off the first 120 in my kitchen now.

Glad you like them! Thanks for the screen shots and yes I will be finishing up the entire set by Sunday night then I will need users to let me know which ones I missed and/or need to be made. I like how you rotated them I am going to be making a set exactly like that when I finish this one. I realize that there are issues with this first set for "iPhone Today" users like yourself because of the overlaying text like for the battery meter and such. I will try to finish as soon as I can, thanks for the comment.................
note: I will make a few blank ones for you so you can use them for the text on your meters and such......

Could you pack your icons inside a dll? I would like to use them with SK Shortcut Manager and that needs dll files to take the icons from. I tried using Icon Changer but it does not work on my device.
Really very neat icons and i am thinking of changing the icons of all shortcuts so i could use them in SPB Mobile Shell.

I am sorry but I have no experience with "dll" maybe a kind soul here on XDA can hook you up with this? I am glad you like them and I used custom icons in SPB Mobile Shell and really liked it but I missed some of the features of sense....I will look into the "dll" method when I get a chance so I can be of more help in the future........

Thanks i did that, downloaded gconvert and created a dll from your actual icons. I hope to be able to convert all your icons before the trial expires...lol.

Do you know what size i have to give to the ico images, so that they display correctly in the shortcuts? If i leave them just converted from the png's the ico's are way too big.

The new release of Beautiful Widgets will not only include a lot of popular skins built it, but you will be able to easily install skins made by others, or you can create your own unique look(skin).

Installation Process:
1) Create skin using development kit above.
2) Place folder on sd card: sdcard\data\beautifulwidgets\skins\

Yeah, but I just figured out how to skin. It's a lot easier then I thought. No coding or anything like that. Just changing some .png's with photoshop and done. I will just continue to make my own little skins and keep it at that.

no icons in home screen
hello,
i have installed beautiful widgets and added it to my home screen. i applied a skin but i doesn't show the icons of the sun or anything else.
i see the clock and the temperature but no icons. If i open it i see little icons in the bottom but not the big icon on top. i've downloaded some skin and applied them but still doesn't work.
What am i doing wrong? Can anyone help me please......

I would recommend uninstalling/reinstalling the app. Then see if the default skin shows the weather icon and other data. If so, follow rules listed above for proper skin installation. Hope this helps.

I flashed another rom and now it is working. I had an eclair rom and this doesn't seem to work on that one.
Anyway TNX for your help en keep up the good workssssssss.

any ideas how bw organizes the .pngs of the numbers and am/pm...i've tried numerous sizes of the png's and i can't seem to get them numbers smaller without having huge spaces in between. Also the am/pm never lines up with the bottom of the numbers.

Really weird, I'm running the latest Cyanogen Mod which is eclair as well... Glad it's working for ya!

Not 100% sure how they organize the .pngs but what I do is just take a working skin and keep the sizes of those. For example, the sense ui skin numbers are sized 88x112. So when I go into photoshop, I reduce the size of the font until it fits inside that area perfectly. Works for me. And the AM/PM thing is like that even in the default skin. I don't think it will ever be perfectly lined up.
Update: I stand corrected. I'm working on a coca-cola skin and it appears to allow me to have the am/pm on level with the numbers. I don't have time to get into the specifics, on the way to work, gotta go...

The wallpaper is great: 3116 x 848. The IPT has 15 pages. I can not use the definitions "Transparency - Alpha blend on background" because I no longer have access to the icons when I try to change or add some. I noticed that with the "Alpha blend on black background" selected it does not happen, but the icons are not so with good definition. What can be done to avoid this problem?

What can be done is, after adding all the icons we want in the settings, change the "Transparency - Alpha blend on black background" to "Transparency-Alpha blend on background". The icons are of better quality.
If thats a IPT skin, I'll go commit suicide. I am a skinner too and i made some iphonetoday skins and for other programs, but this is something else. You are not from this world

P.S. just an idea, remove the apps icon from the bottom and put this icon on the middle of contacts and sms icon. Set the bottom bars iconrow to 3, so the icons will be centered Its more like ICS then..
