Hi All
I recently lost my ringtone and found a solution on here, so all is fine.....EXCEPT when the phone rings, the ringtone disappears when the scroll wheel (if that's what it's called) is moved.
Has anyone else come across this problem and if so found a fix???
The phone carries on ringing silently if I move the wheel, it's just the sound that disappears and that's obviously not very good if it's in my pocket!!
I've tried pressing all the other buttons when it's ringing to see if they make the sound disappear but they don't, it's only the wheel
Any one got any ideas????
Thanks
That's not a bug.
That's a feature...
My TyTN1 did that.
My P3600 did that.
My TyTN2 Does that.
It's the only way of making the phone go QUIET without canceling the call.
Quite usefull actually....
Honestly!!??
It's a feature??
How do I turn it off????
I like that feature very much, too. When someone calls and I don't want to talk to them I just hit the scroll wheel to silence the call but let it continue ringing for them. That way they don't know I'm ignoring them. I can plausibly be out of range of my phone or some other excuse. If you press the end key or hit "ignore" on the phone screen it sends the call immediately to voicemail and the person on the other line can tell they've been actively ignored...
I don't know if it's possible to turn it off.
ive always found it usefull. but sometimes it can be annoying as OP said when its in your pocket

The beginning of every sad story I've heard about screen cracks and phone damage, has always begun with , Well the phone was in my pocket and..............
When I pull my phone from it's padded holster I always look at the caller id first and do not wish to disturb other people while I decide. I appreciate the feature
I'm guessing it's a feature that can't be turned off then
OK guys,
I just had my "faulty" Diamond replaced - it wasn't ringing on calls, but all other sounds were OK. This is not the same issue that people have had with SMS notifications etc etc.
Basically only a hard reset cured the issue, but it came back after a few days.
Since using the new one I think I worked out what it could be, and it might be very embarassing.....part of it is to do with the stupid way HTC have implemented the volume behaviour in Touch Flo, and their philosophy of "why press the screen once when you can press it 3 or 4 times"! Dismissing email, missed call and SMS notifications from the Home screen anyone? - need I say more.
Anyway, the problem <I think> stems from the way they changed the volume feature. (and operator error).
In WM6.x native, if you turn the system volume off, then the ringer turns off - if you turn it up the ring stays off - BUT both volumes are seen on one screen. So it's obvious.
In Touch Flo there are 2 separate screens!! System Volume, then an Arrow left to "Ring Volume".
Anyone who has the apparent "no ringing" press the up or down volumne, then make sure you hit the arrow left for "Ring Volume".
My sample size is 1, so this maybe coincidental, but I hadn't realised it worked this way.
For those of you with the problem, please check the "Ring Volume" level and get back to us.
See the pic attached.....
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 'no sound on calls' problem has been seen to happen when the system volume and ring volume have been at maximum. Indeed this has also been seen to happen on WM6.x native, where as you say, both levels are visible.
I was meaning the incoming calls do not ring at all- the sound when speaking still works.
Is that what you meant?
If yes then that's a pain - I was hoping it could be the end of my troubles!
This may or may not be relevant, but, I never change the volume (system or ringer - they're both set to max) and indeed I've even remapped the volume hardware buttons to other functions but on occasion I find that whilst my system volume remains on max my ringer volume has gone right down to zero.
It certainly wasn't me that did it - at least not directly through any positive action related to changing the volume anyway.
I cannot seem to reproduce this problem, and so for now it seems to occur randomly (of course I'm sure there is a definite trigger - I just haven't found it yet!).
Mathew
that is odd - whatever is causing it then, it might be ringer volume related...
This Has Solved The Problem On My Touch Diamond...will Probably Post In A Couple Of Days To Indicate Whether The Problem Has Returned...if You Don't Hear From Me In This Thread Again Then The Problem Can Been Seen As Solved For Good.
All The Best

no sound.
hi. just got my new diamond. it powered up alright, installed all the necessary apps and sounded great. I also adjusted the system and the ringer volumes to around 80% of max.
but if i use the phone after around 15 minutes, there is not sound. no audio player sound, either songs or incoming calls or sms or anything. its just dead silent.
wanted to go to the shop to have it replaced, but before that, i wonder if anyone can help me and tell if this problem can be solved myself.
i guess i will wait for a reply before going for a replacement.

Bad news mate. But that problem is slightly different to the topic - it's only the ring volume which doesn't work for me and certain other people.
All other sounds work just fine.
Phone not ringing, vibrating or flashing for incoming calls
I am also having the same problem with my Diamond. The phone is not ringing/lighting up/vibrating or anything when someone is calling me. I have tried calling my phone myself to just watch it remain black. I REALLY hope someone somewhere finds a solution to this problem, or I may just throw it against the wall
I also had the same problem with my Telus CDMA diamond - sound worked fine, then after a random amount of time after power off, there would be no sound - no ring, no mp3 audio, nothing. Sound would be restored after soft reset, but would again disappear sometime after being powered down. I tried everything to fix - reflashed various roms, SRS WOW driver, everything - no fix to be found. The only way I could prevent the sound from disappearing was to use the "not suspend power" option of S2U2 - sound was maintained but it sucked battery like crazy. So, I returned the phone for exchange - they exchanged no problem. I haven't had a problem since with the new phone.
Phone not ringing for incoming calls
I've had this problem twice in the last couple of days. After testing a few scenarios I have been able to reproduce this problem on my TD. Like other users, the problem that I was experiencing was that my TD would not ring upon an incoming call. It would flash the screen and show caller ID, but no sound. Ring volume and system volumes were both at max.
I have been using an alarm application, G-Alarm v0.6.4. This app was installed to the device memory. After setting a test alarm and cancelling it, I then called my TD and the problem was reproduced. Are any other TD owners with this bug also using G-Alarm? (I also found that the G-Alarm was not stopping by pressing "Stop", so thought it was a bit buggy.)
I could restore the phone ringer by opening Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications. I found that my original ring tone for an incomming call had changed by itself. When I restored the ringer to my chosen ringtone, problem solved.
I uninstalled G-Alarm and so far so good.
I'm interested to see if any others with this problem are using G-Alarm or any other 3rd party alarm app.
Regards,
Paul
Paul, I also seemed to have run into the same issue with g-alarm. I say seem because although I did a hard reset the issue has persisted. The issue seems to frequently crop up when I switch sound profiles.
I've the same problem. No Sound after some call or others sounds play. When this happens and if I receive a call the others not listen my voice. This means that when audio disappear, speaker and also microphone not work, like the system can't comunicate with them. The volume control not resolve my problem. I've done HR and with nothing installed in my phone the problem come back again after few minutes. So it's not a problem of third part bad software, but htc orginal software or hardware problem.
Anyone solve it o have idea?
Thanks!
Perfect solution sickboy555 - I feel a right twit!!!!
no sound
So, for me, the Diamond is a dead brick - just good to look at, with no sound after 15 or even 10 minutes of standby.
can anyone just tell me if this type of a problem may be related to 1. Hardware, or 2. software.
I've given it to the shop from where i bought it from, but they keep on returning me the phone after a week to 10 days, telling that it's been fixed now. But the problem still persists, and I keep on giving them the brick back again and again.
Frustrated, i wonder if I can fix it myself, or just go to the shop, and throw it against the wall and count the pieces !!!!!!!!

glad to have helped!
I'm not sure if there is a real hardware issue as well. Are the others with the "same" problem sure they followed the guidance????
Hi Sickboy555,
yes I checked your advice but this wasn't the cause of the problem for me. As posted earlier, for me it was caused by my G-Alarm application. It's been over a month now since uninstalling G-Alarm and the problem hasn't returned since.
you are the man,thank you.
Thanks. My incoming ring tone problem has been solved.
er...sorry..wat is the solution again?? i dun really get it...
It is possible to change the properties of button in original headphones from htc?
When I press 2 times very quickly my htc rings and it's very annoying because it's rings when I e.g. listening music.

I think its possible. I'll look into it.
Same look alike problem
I think i broken my headphones. Whenever i plug them in , the slightest move turns into my phone calling the last person i called or called me or going into Voice Dial . So i have to call a fake number every time i plug them so it won't call from my pocket, very very annonying.
What can be made to disable this type of calling .. i don't know if the button is the problem .
So nobody can solve this problem ? I write some questions on other forums but nobody give any solution.
I keep my phone in my pocket with the screen next to my leg or chest depending on what I am wearing etc. I have my earphones plugged in and use the inline mic for answering calls. However the screen comes on when I get a call and because the screen is next to my skin through thin fabric it causes the phone to react as if touched so I get call hangups during a call and when the call ends the screen is still unlocked and does other funky things (like skipping tracks in my music player).
I use an app to keep the screen ON during a call so when I am on speakerphone it does not blank out.
How the hell do I have the screen remain locked during a call on headset and ON during a call when on speakerphone (and still respond to the proximity sensor when used normal so blanks when near my face)?
This is a terrible design flaw!
EDIT: Looks like the answer is here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30335496
Why you not make that default option HTC???
EDIT2: Dammit! That only works when the call is incoming. It still does not stop the screen from waking when I answer the call from the headset!!!
I just purchased Headset Screenlock thinking that would do the trick. But if I answer the call (by ringing myself from a land line phone) the screen shows the incoming call with the answer or decline options (which can still get answered or hung up accidentally by the look of things) and if I answer the call using the headset button the screen goes blank and after that...nothing. I cannot get the screen back! I have to reboot the phone holding the power button down for 10 seconds.
I went back immediately to get a refund but it was not available. Pretty sure it was less than 15 minutes too. The developer of the app says he will give a refund if not satisfied within 24 hours. But how? I have emailed him asking and telling him about the crash etc.
This is really frustrating.
I got my 32 CW N6 on Weds, and I've experienced a very strange issue with an incoming call twice now. The phone starts to ring but the ringer is all garbled/distorted, and the screen is unresponsive. It seems to stop ringing fairly quickly, and everything goes back to normal. I do live in a spotty 4G LTE area, and notice the signal meter showing blank often, or a little showing (which I know may be a separate issue from another thread) but checking signal strength, it averages about -105dbm sometimes a little higher/lower, depending on where in the house I am. My previous LG G2 and G3 would regularly switch between 4g/3g throughout the day. The phone was set to Global and I did just change it back to LTE (I thought I'd done it earlier, but maybe I had inadvertently set it back) so not sure if that will make any difference... Wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
edit: I realize that voice is over cdma, but knowing the N6 doesn't do simultaneous voice/data over verizon like the turbo/moto x, not sure if there could be some correlation.

Just noticed this myself. I have had the phone for a few weeks now and it was the first time this happened. The screen was off and didn't light up. The phone did respond when I unlocked it though and I was able to answer.
I haven't had the unresponsive screen anymore, but I have had a couple calls today again where the ringer got all distorted and the screen didn't turn on.
When the screen seemed unresponsive, I did have a different case on which covered the buttons so maybe I was just hitting the wrong button... in any case it's mildly annoying.
Having the same issue. It goes garbled and if I don't answer right away it will end the call

Same here.. Verizon, stock 5.01 nexus 6. Get the garbled ring.. Sometimes the ring just for a split second, then silent too.

my phone won't run for more than 2 days before this happens: incoming call OR outgoing call. ring works, call answered, then silence. call counter is ticking away, the call is in progress, just no audio on either end!. click Hangup button, and it takes like 60 seconds to hangup. reboot, phone is fine for 2ish days. or less.
