Skype calls - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

For all the skype users out there...is it just me or everytime I call/recieve a call from Skype it forces you to use the speakerphone instead of the regular phone output.
Not sure if I messed up a reg entry to make skype act that way or if it comes like that by default...? I checked its settings and found nothing regarding any output settings....
Does anyone else have the same issue?

This is currently the normal behavior. As far as I know Skype isn't able to use the "ear speaker".

Thanks for the clearification!
Hope their newest version fixes this problem....

Use Fring, it pushes the sound through normal ear speaker.

Good Conversation Recorder for HTC Phones??

Hi
Have been using Resco Audio recorder and Vito Audio Notes to record phone conversation but in both the softwares i could only here my voice clearly and the other persons voice is not audible at all. I have faced this problem on ALL HTC DEVICES but the same software worked amazing on XDA Xing and ATOM. cam someone help me here as to what settings to change or what software to use for proper recording.
Thanks
all of these programs will record if the phone is on speaker.
read the documentations, as some phone do not provide duplex conversations, or something like that.
once you set the call on speaker, all works fine, but it's kind of inconvenient.
yea if i remember correctly, it has something to do with the way that the voice calling was implemented in the device that it will only record your voice.
straight from resco.net from the audio recorder page:
(Both sides recording is hardware dependent. If your recording contains voice of one side only, it is not due to the program's failure.)
On my old PPC6700 mine worked fine with the call volume all the way high, The other person sounded a bit low, but if you want you can edit the call on a PC and make them louder. It all depends how often do you plan to record your convos.
I'm recording both sides without speaker or any other hazzle...
This is what I've done:

Do you really intend to unbury every 1+ year old topic on that subject? I think people got it by now. Make ONE thread with full relevant info, that will do it.

Skype & Fring

A brief survey to sastisfy my own curiosity:
How often do you guys use these apps?
If so, do you find them functional?
Do you use Bluetooth Audio or stick it out with the speaker?
Do you use them on 3G, Wifi only, or even Edge?
For me qaulity is rubbish on both using wi-fi so I don't bother anymore
I agree, Skype sounded like poo over wi-fi, and fring doesn't even open on my phone anymore.
On HTC Herald, using Skype, the call quality was crap because first, I was with Tmobile and edge was too slow. I got the kasier tytn II, and switched to at&t. Skype call quailty was alittler better now with their 3g and wifi. But then I begain to learn about different radios frequencies and how they can significantly increase/improve your reception. My skype stutters very little and the call quality is very good over 3g.
I don't use it often (twice a week maybe) I mainly use it to save my (anytime) minutes during the day and it comes in handy with I want to make international phone calls. I may just upgrade to the $99/month (Unlimited calling) plan
But in a nutshell, I believe you can improve your Skype (or Fring) call quality by experimenting with different radios.
Bluetooth and skype? Something I don't recommend, but I prefer the wired head set with Skype.
Hope this helps
Looks like that fring was not prepared that WM 6.1 will appear. Everyone who has this version of WM is not able to use fring now. used to have fring over wife - quaility was fine. skype is heavy memmory eater so only tested it nothing else
I tried using 3G but the quality was crap.
Wifi works fine for me - I use Skype quite often at home.
I find that using the head set which came with my TyTN II offers far superior call quality than the speaker.

Did she Mind, your wife? And I'm not sure I totally understand your euphemism.
Just installed Skype on my Tilt. All went well, but it seems to only want to be on speakerphone. Also, my call to echo shows no microphone present. I looked for settings to change audio prefs and could not find any. Any suggestions?
I use Skype all the time for overseas calls on both my PC and Kaiser.
I am using Dutty's 6.1 Non Palmsms version and the call quality is fine.
Using Radio 1.64.08.21
So, can I use Skype to make outgoing calls to landlines and other non-skype cell phones? Can I use it to get incoming calls of the same nature?
I read somewhere that Skype and any/all other program will ONLY use the phone speaker. It seems that the only funtions that will use the ear speaker is the phone program. Unfortunately my spearkerphone on my ATT Tilt does not function well or at all. Apparently this seems to be a very common problem with the Tilt... I suppose I can still use Skype for text chatting.
Is this true? I was hoping I wouldn't have to sign up for any minutes with ATT if I had Skype

If you plug in the headset that came with your phone, Skype (Windows Mobile?) will use that instead. Call quality is much better for me using the headset.
I rebooted my router and got Skype to hear me. The quality is not so good with the speakerphone. Unfortunately the Tilt doesn't have a standard wired headset that I know of. I thought maybe the bluetooth headset might work, but it does not connect to Skype at all. It just invokes the voice command dialer...
^It doesn't? The Wing includes one!
I think there is a jack for a stereo headset but not sure which one is compatible... Will have to do some research.
On my kaiser, dutty's 6.1 ROM, fring works better than skype... call quality, connection timings, all are good.. maybe due to HSDPA..
I'm using Skype over HSDPA and WiFi and quite satisfy with it, voice clarity is good (using Sony 970 Bluetooth), good call handling, just don't try to use it over Edge

you need to get a headset that does both handsfree and headset profiles. I have the lubix stereo headphones and it works great both as wireless headphones and handsfree.
For the person thinking about just going with skype as voice, your limited to where you have good 3G connection.

ringtones only coming into bluetooth headset, how do i stop this?

I have a Tilt and am currently using the latest Hyperdragon III rom, but this has happened with several of the most recent roms.
it used to be that whenever i got an incoming call i would have both ms voice command announce the call through my bluetooth head set, while the phone would vibrate and play the ringtone through its normal speaker.
now, for some reason, in this latest batch of roms, i'm getting both the msvc announcement and the ringtone through my headset and the phone only vibrates. if i turn the headset off, then the phone rings like normal.
this gets to be a problem when i have the headset in my pocket, i start to miss calls!
has anyone else had this problem?
edit: also, something that's bugged me forever, the T key seems to always miss presses. i have to really jam on it to get it to register. if i'm not thinking about it, i'll send out texts and emails with no Ts in them at all! is there a software fix to this or is it a hardware issue?

Hardware. As to BT, I've always had that behavior (all sounds in headset), so don't have much to say, seemed normal to me.
I had that same problem, but I used the MSVCtoggle.cab and it switches it from headset to phone and vice versa.
I believe you need to go to "Voice Command" under settings > system, then select "Notifications"
There are settings that allow changes in how notifications are handled via your speaker and/or your BT.
Hope this helps.
The problem isn't the calls being announced via bluetooth, it's the fact that the phone now only rings into the bluetooth headset.
in previous roms, it used to be that when a call would come in, my phone speaker would ring and i would also receive the MSVC announcement via the bluetooth headset
now, in newer roms, the phone speaker does not ring, and i got both the ringtone and the msvc announcement via the bluetooth headset.
i don't want msvc to announce the calls via the phone's speaker
same thing happens with messages and the announce new messages feature. I get the sms read to me in my bluetooth headset, but the new sms tone also plays through the headset.
edit: if i turn off call announcements, then the phone rings through the regular speaker. i get no call announcements, but hearing the ringtone is much better! i'm using msvc 19965
same problem, please help , it is geting to be verry annoying (((
thank you
p.s. using tilt, original rom, voice comman 1.6.19214
very annoying voice comman problem
same problem, please help , it is geting to be verry annoying (((. if i take check mark out from phone checkbox, under setings voice command then it rings at a phone, but i cant use voice command to dile phone numbers. i say call "name " it finds it but doesn't ask < call "name" > , so it defits the porpose of voise comand.

Call Recording problems on X1 HELP!!!

Hello everyone,
can not say that it is like "to live or not to live" but still important, and i belie not only for me.
I have tried a lot of different call recording software for WM.
The problem is that during call recoding it just records the microphone, but not the dynamic.
It just works like simple Voice recorder.
Most advanced I think was the tool from Resco. It has even the input device list in which I've chosen "Cellular Line" but still... no result.
I even have few times changed the firmware
I'm interested:
1) If it's only in my phone and you did not experienced such problem on yours
2) You guys can do the miracle ???

anyone ?
I can't do the ICR as well.
However, many of the people in the forum said they can...
I am wondering how as well.
I think this is not software, this is hardware problem. Something with laws reasons. Anyway, no program to able to write sound from hardware speaker.
Another way to use that programs - try to use recording with BT hendsfree.

Thanks, but obviously there are people claiming that they can do it with their X1s. Therefore we are asking why and how.

Hmmm... I'm not sure, but seems to me they mean recording from BT. Try to use VITO AudioNotes, it works on my Jamin and LG KS20, but only via BT
You tried this?

The speakerphone trick is not possible while you are using it outdoors, which is unfavourable for most of the time
Thanks anyway
Have you try this?

For some reason, mine was there with the phone. During the call - press menu then select note. Another window appear with tools for record. I tried mine and it works. The conversation save under my document>calls... Perfect

I just tried your method, it seems that it actually records passively via the vibrations from the speaker to the mic, or via the actual output from the speaker. Recording in a silent environment I can barely hear the person on the other end even at max volume.
I guess this option isn't really a working solution.
At this point it does make me think that there are hardware differences between X1s we have...
I am using X1i made in Y09W03, which I can't get the ICR to work...
Can those who make ICR work state their model and manufacture date as well?
Thanks
For a start, there may be some confusion here, some are using simply the notes application which can be accessed by menu (right softkey) during call and then record a sound in new note. Other it seems are using a recording software.
That being it, it is so unlikely, that it is nearing impossible that there would be hardware differences in the phone causing such significant difference in functionality. They have a specification to keep.
That being said, the cases describedas working I would put down to a difference in opinion on what "working" is considered to mean exactly.
P.S. X1i UK Y08W52
How about BTHF?
I heard some people had claimed that they can record both streams through BTHF... ark... things getting confusing: but I just want ICR on my X1, for the best I just pick up the phone to record all the in call voices, or using the HF comes with X1, or the worst BTHF (which I dont have one right now).
Just to keep you updated:
BTHF - No Good.
In Mobile01, some users claimed that if you use plastic "jelly" type protection case, it will help you divert the other parties' voices from the earpiece to the microphone, which in case help the ICR.
I am looking into issues and possibilities from the threads in Touch HD to make ICR work with Xperia X1.
I just freakingly hate it when people make false claims. That in any other way doesn't help but rather contribute to confusions.
Firstly, you can't even say that it records voice calls simply because the extreme silenced environment enables the mic to hear the whispers coming from the earpiece of the phone. Or saying that you just have to turn on the speaker phone while on record.
That definitely isn't a way a developer would do to claim anything about recording voice calls.
I'm sure you guys have other phones rather than PPCs say later nokias and later SEs perhaps. Whenever someone is calling you, you can simply press softkey and press record, and it will record the conversation and "stop recording" whoever hangs up first which doesn't happen to notes-recording.
Reviewing the recorded message is simply just as clear as having two people on phone patch just like our President's phone patch scam.
Dude, by far this thing DOESN'T record voice calls as I have tried to search. These claims are just workarounds. And If this do ever record voice calls, then you wouldn't even have to search the whole damn features finding where the record button is. Simply put.
>>MrLeche
Thanks for your comments, but the fact is that the recent Touch HD movements have granted us some hopes. People in Taiwanese forums are making use of the patch to apply on various of HTC phones and got positive results - therefore this has given some people, at least the stupid me, to do some further testing and research before closing the issue prematurely.
Did everyone just give up or did someone find the "cure" and I missed it?
I have tried everything possible but have not been able.
Just out of curiosity is this possible:
I have seen a program that diverts the sound from the speakerphone to the earpiece for use with skype. Could a virtual device be created to emulate a speaker, have sound diverted to the virtual device then to the real earpiece or speakerphone? This would allow the virtual device to send the sound from the other party to the recorder and hence record both sides of the conversation.
Maybe the above makes no sense but just wondering.
If anyone has been able to record both sides of the conversation at reasonable volume levels on an X1, I am interested in finding out how.

Download Resco Explorer
Change the amplify level to your preferred settings
During phone call, make sure speakerphone is on
It works wonderfully.

Thanks but unfortunately that is not an option for me. I would like to record all calls and the speakerphone option is just too awkward for normal phone use.

Need a Call Recorder for windows mobile

I have the Sony x1.
I always find myself wishing I had recorded calls.
Is there a way to have your phone automatically record all calls.
If it was just a stand alone program that needed to be activated each time I think would forget.
Try this:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-acr-auto-call-recorder.html
Same as above:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536472
It only works one way though...
The X1 has call recording built-in through the Notes app (also accesible through the phone dialer. Once in the Notes app, go to Menu->Use Recording Toolbar. You can record the conversation while writing into the notes app. It's unfortunate SE didn't integrate this better into the dialer app.
You can record both sides of the conversation if you use speakerphone only. Using the handset, it will only record yourself and the other end will be inaudible. I believe this is some hard limitation in the design of the phone and not something that can be overcome by software.
EDIT: Ooops, I see you want calls recorded automatically...Notes doesn't do that
How do I access the feature through the phone dialer.
If you are using the built-in SE dialer, it is the icon that looks like a sticky note with a tack through it. Pressing that will load the Notes app with the number you are dialing already inserted. From there, just follow the instructions in my previous post.
I believe once a call is initiated, you can still run notes the traditional way (Start Menu->Notes) and achieve the same thing if you have a different dialer you are using.
This functionality with notes is cute, but it only record some 30 seconds. How can I change it. Through regedit or?
One more thing: The loudness of person that I called on recording is miserable... My voice is lot louder... how can I fix this?

As stated in my first post, you have to use speakerphone to get a usable record volume from the other caller. This is inherent in the X1 design.
I don't understand why some phones have this limitation and others don't. My old Moto v60 could record both ends of the phone call perfectly without any fuss.

Look at Resco Audio Recorder.
I have tried many programs and none work perfectly so here is what i did to get perfect results:
Plug your xperia into the "Line in" port on your computer using a male to male 3.5 mm audio cable - after that i used a program like Audacity to record the call.
It records your voice and the person you are speaking to with perfect results.
^^^ That's clever, but how do you fit your computer in your pocket?
