Does the touchpad work in WinMo side? - Shift Development

I recently tried (and quickly changed again!) a ROM with a different dpi (96?) but found that I HAD to use the stylus to do practially anything in it. In other WinMo devices I've had "mouse pointer" software to work with trackballs/ pointing devices and wondered if anyone had found whether the Shift touchpad can be used from WinMo.
I imagine it's a bit like the SD card, USB etc stuff that alls needs serious work to get talking to WinMo but thought it was worth asking

Antiquing

Here is a little something I wanted to share with the group though it is quite possible it will be of no interest to anyone here. Still, blabbing seems to be allowed in this section so here goes.
Today I was going through some long unopened drawers at the office and ran in to a real antique: An HP Jornada 710.
I read about these devices before, how some people still experiment with them running Linux and stuff.
Well, I decided to see what the fuss was about but of course non of its original accessories were anywhere to be found.
Fortunately I have a 'heavy duty' 1000mA universal DC adapter at home that after some struggling I managed to connect to the device. (Mind you this is a particularly hungry little toy - 12V, 2.5A)
And to my surprise it came to life almost immediately after at least 3 years of lying dormant in a draw.
What surprised me even more, was what I found on the desktop of the unit. I worked with Win CE 4.2 and 5 devices but I really didn't expect that the old "Hand Held PC" derivative would have Power Point and Mobile Access apps preinstalled in ROM. (Just for the power point we had to wait through 3.5 Windows Mobile versions 2000, 2002, 2003 / SE).
All in all I found this 6 year old device to be more impressive then many WM5 devices I've seen.
Well right now I left it to charge over night and will take it back to the office in the morning for show and tell.
I doubt I will attempt changing the ROM, but I am trying to think of a neat use for it since it seems a shame to put such a device back in the draw.
Ow well, just thought I share, any comments, thoughts etc. are welcomed.
You should read Pocket PC Expert more! They have adverts in every magazine asking to buy, and also selling these devices. I still think that they were nearly the best form factor ever made - I loved my Psion 5, and still think in many ways it's the sexiest device I've used.
Someone should really refactor these devices - slightly thinner, foldback screen to use as a tablet (like Univeral), and it would be a beautiful "on the go" business companion.
Then again, we have Athena. $1100 right?!

Is that the one with the built in dial up modem?

Not unless there suppose to be some special cable for it that plugs in to a phone socket.
The software is there, even a dedicated button on the side of the screen but nothing that would look like a modem socket on the device it self.
One crazy though: I have a 3COM PCMCIA WiFi card for my old Toshiba laptop.
If that had a driver for CE (which I am pretty sure it doesn't) maybe it could have worked on the Jornada (probably not because of power requirements or interface version) and that would make a neat terminal.
Oh well, for now the adapter seems to have fried (no external damage, but the indicator light no longer comes on and something is loose inside).
I think the unit is still OK but the battery doesn't hold charge so for now all experiments are on hold.
I still have my iPAQ H3630 (UK) which I upgraded to PPC2002. I have the Stowaway Keyboard and the PC Card Expansion Jacket and used to use a 2GB PC Card HDD in there way back when!
Last week the internal battery died :-(
I need to see if its economically viable to repair....

Driver Wanted (Cool Project)

Hi Everyone... If you read any of my past posts, you will know I LOVE my Tilt... highyl reccomend it to anyone... My one biggest complaint is when it comes to gaming, the controls suck... I have wlays loved using my phone as a portable video games device using various emulators... All the way from my first Motorola MPX 200 .... I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to use a Wii Mote as a wireless gaming controller... Somehow connect it via bluetooth and use its buttons to control..
I have "cheated" already and done something simmilar using a Bluetooth Keyboard... Worked great, but lugging around a full sized keyboard is a bit much... I can keep a Wiimote in the car (as I already do for when I am at a friends)... The way the screen til on the phone is perfect.. So, basically I jsut need the wiimote to work like a keyboard, and use the Emulators software to map the buttons myself... Any suggestions? Would I need a driver or is there another route?? I am not worried about using the itnternal sensors or anything.. just basic up down left right a b button stuff... The "Cool" factor to get this working would over the top..
Of course, the phone is the Tilt.. I am still using the standard AT&T 6.0 Rom that came on the phone with all the usual tweaks... I use Pocket Nester to emulate the NES... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
i dont know about the wiimote but if you want to try, activate bluetooth and search for devices, press 1 and 2 on the wiimote. if it asks for a code, try 0000.
otherwise you can buy this device http://zeemote.com/
I'm not sure about winmo, but I know for desktop there are a ton of ways to use the wii-mote, both wired and wirelessly. It would be really cool to use on on the tilt, but I think we would need to create drivers first.

Alltel HTC Hero PSFreedom Question

Hello,
I have a few questions regarding PSFreedom with my HTC Hero. I am currently running my stock 2.1 firmware and I have tried a few methods to jailbreak my PS3 with both of them failing.
I was just curious if this could be due to the fact that for some reason my computer doesn't recognize my computer as a disk drive, even though it is set to that in the "Connect to PC" settings and I don't get the notification. I know for a fact it's not any conflict with my USB ports because this randomly started happening and instead of messing with it I just decided to do a quick reformat and reinstall of Win 7 so I believe that there's something wrong with my phone... but I'm not entirely sure...
Also, could this problem lie within my cable? It worked just fine and dandy for quite awhile and then I started to have problems with it while I was using CM6 so I restored my NAND backup to the Alltel 2.1 and the problem still continues.. and I just realized that my cable is a little ripped at the end of the USB male connector side but it doesn't look like any wires inside are ripped.. and I can also run commands from Android SDK just fine as that's one of the methods I used for the Jailbreak.
If somebody could help me I would really appreciate it.. and sorry for droning on I just spent the past few hours trying to figure this out and I'm a little tired of sitting in front of the comp lol.
Thanks,
Xombie
If you're having trouble getting your computer to recognize your phone properly then it's likely that the PS3 isn't seeing it correctly either. I'd say check the US cable but the fact that you still have ADB is strainge.

Logitech BT Keyboard w/ case

I know it says it's for ipad, I am wondering if it would work with the N7? Did anyone get a chance to try one of these?
It looks really good, not too small, also the case can be used as a sort of dock.
LE: for clarification, I know there is an android version too, but at the store I could pick this up, they only have the ipad version. I cannot order online at the moment. At least from the pictures the two versions seem very similar, and I was assuming they use the same BT connectivity technology.
My guess would be that its usable since its Bluetooth but the Android version would be more useful. Kind of like having a Mac vs PC keyboard on your computer. Some keys have odd symbols like the Apple command key (sometimes called the cloverleaf key) working like a control key or perhaps the Windows key. Placement of some keys will be different also. As someone who's used nothing but PC keyboards on Macs for decades I'm used to the differences but you might not like them.

You are right. I saw the key layout. Will wait with the keyboard... it's not that urgent anyway.
Wife has one, it works fine, but missing any Android-specific keys that might be on keyboards, I honestly don't know what they'd be though.. I assume things like home, back, search, media play/stop etc... None of that works. The "Opt" key launches stuff, but none of it particularly useful (Calculator etc).
But for typing etc, it works fine.

There's an android / windows version too...

Elementary OS//Wireless Mouse Issue

Howdy there!
I'm looking for some ideas for solving an issue I'm having because I've looked everywhere on there internet possible (I think lol) and still have yet to find anything like what I'm having troubles with. Here is what is going on:
I'm new to the Linux world and all though I know about Ubuntu I'm trying to use different builds along with Ubuntu so I can see what the differences between them all are. In my problem I'm using Elementary OS. While trying to install Elementary OS my Logitech wireless mouse does not move on the screen, which leaves me having to use my USB keyboard to tab through everything. Everything else works perfectly like the wireless card, the ethernet, etc. I've tried unplugging it and re-plugging it back in after a restart or after the installer is finished loading up. Which is sadly all I could think of aside from switching different USB ports but that didn't work either. After I use my keyboard to install the OS and it reboots to the desktop my mouse still does not want to move.
I'm stuck so if anyone has ideas I'm all ears, haha.
Thanks!
System Specs:
Asus Z87-PRO Motherboard
i7 4770K CPU
8GB G.Skill RAM
Elementary OS was installed on a 2.5" 200GB HDD
