Tetris.apk Bejeweled.apk SimCityMetropolis.apk and more - G1 Apps and Games

Here are some games I found. These games are not in the Market as of 1/17/09
As i find more I would add more. If anybody finds good games add them here.

REMOVED LINKS DO TO BEING WAREZ!!!
Please refrain from posting any more, warning1
EDIT: These are free. No trials I think. Some are unreleased games. I like the tetris its the real one from EA Games.

are thes e free or trial ???

I have tried monopoly and bejeweled and they seem free it mentioned nothing about an expiration or trial. Monopoly is very fun. With updated Property, Utilities and Rail Roads are now Airports, Properties Are much more expensive but so is all the money you receive. Basically its Monopoly for the 21st century.
only drawback is the game play is a tad choppy.

Great find! Thanks! Hey, I wonder what happened to the Quake/doom demo? There was a video showing someone at some convention showing a demo right before the G1 was released... One of those great apps. that never reappeared on the marketplace after the initial release. Then I heard someone saying that the java layers wouldn't provide adequate framerate for playing higher end games like that and that the Quake demo was made to play around the java layers. Also other types of emulation have to been very slow to make due to this including coreplayer which the developers seem to have given up on. But I guess my question is now that everyone has root access who wants it, can these types of applications and emulators be created to bypass the java layers and run a decent framerate? Anyone know or have any ideas?

I installed SIm city and the controls were very hard to use. Shame I want to play it but its to frustrating to play.

Yeah I see the quake demo in a video of android's beta stages but haven't seen it since.
First post updated.

I'm pretty sure this would be considered "warez"? Probably against forum policy...

Not necessarily maybe if the games were out on the market with a price than this would be "warez."
Guess what its not on the market and their are no prices on these .apk files as of 1/17/09.
So i would continue to share until I see these on the market with a price tag.
Thank you

They may not be on the Android Market, but they are most definitely not free apps.
http://www.eamobile.com/Web/smartphone-games

This is a borderline issue. Since the market doesn't charge is it technically "free" for now? Is that site the makers of the games?? Are they charging for a free program? putting them in the wrong.
EDIT: Closing the thread do to the apk are WAREZ

Check the date, it was a april fool.
Nope, we are not a warez site, sorry... ^^
But CharlyV is right, it was our joke for april fools' days this year.
We didnt expect it would get that much attention... our report about the dreamcast emulator didnt last that long in other boards...
Hm? Since when is emulation considered 'warez'??
Iagree with krakout! If you have an original copy of the game...I have the psx with many games, but she's dead..i'm very happy to return in my favorite game with my diamond or my PC! The better psx game doesn't exist in PC (like ff9 by example..)
In general, and in fora the world over, emulation-related talk is always considered ok. Linking to ROM files MAY or may NOT be ok (for some systems and/or companies it is), but that's another story. What is the forum's policy?
For instance, I'm trying to make CaPriCe32 work on my Diamond. CaPriCe32 is an Amstrad CPC emulator; now, Amstrad has given permission for its ROMs to be distributed and used freely, so...?
We only offer emulators, but usually not any roms, isos or bios-files.
The only roms we offer are those that are officially freeware (some games like FOTAQ or BASS for ScummVM) or that are distributed by the companies themselves (Cinemare for example, who offer roms to their classics themselves).
@krakout (best akanoid clone for c64 btw ^^): Amstrad roms are really free? That would be great, then i could offer a selection of games in this case as well.
I was refering to the site as being a Warez site, so i couldnt like to it.
It was on a German site about a month ago, didnt understand much of it, but from a rough translation they thought it was going to be released soon...
So, is there any reason for there not to be a emulator?

(krakout was plain great on the CPC as well, only less brownish )
I used the word ROM literally here: Amstrad has given away the code for the machines' ROM chips, so I wasn't referring to the games themselves.
That said, there are hundreds, if I'm not mistaken, titles whose rights holders have given them to the public; I think those rights have been researched and you can find everything at TACGR.
Oh okay, i misunderstood the rom part here... ^^
I thought TACGR is down?
Ah yes it is, but then again, plenty of places to find the disk images... All the TACGR contents have been compiled into a GOODCPC ROM archive anyway (which I've been seeding on torrents for a long time now myself).
PM if you need any details
Does anyone know why is it so difficult to get a N64 emulator to work on a ppc when ps1 emulators work fine- I get around 50-80 fps on my HD2.
Are N64's actually more graphically demanding?
hey.. im wondering the same thing. I have a sprint touch pro 2 running FPSEce and it works fine. i would assume N64 roms would be much less taxing on the phone since its alot less memroy and ram needed to run it
Sweet!

"World's first augmented mobile reality browser"

Pretty sweet, check it out:
http://layar.eu/
yeah i saw it on gizmodo, looks pretty cool. Gizmodo said it was only available in the Netherland store, could someone upload the apk if it is?
but their site does say it will be released in the store soon, so who knows.
Yeah, but the problem then lies in there not being any servers in the US...
Supposed to be some this year though.
Worlds first? Wikitude has been around for ages.. looks pretty damn similar!
I talked to a couple iphone users today and they were all hyped about this until I pointed out that they'd have to have a 3G-S to run it (if/when it comes out for the iphone), which means a nice 400-500 dollar upgrade for them just to use it. Android is a beautiful thing.
"the main difference between them and Wikitude is having many content layers"
Interesting.
looks pretty cool.
That's pretty cool. Imagine if the bars has a counter on the occupancy you can either choose if you want to go to a bar that has a ton of people or not! Or if it'll show you a restaurants menu or specials before walking in.
looks cool
very neat cant wait until it comes out
seems intresting, cant wait for it so i can try it, since it gives real time info im aware it will use data but i wonder if it will require the gps to be turned on as well
From what I can tell the gps is used to determine what info to retrieve

I can't "see" any difference with it and wikitude and their claim at the first AR browser is dubious at best, wikitude beat them to the punch.
is this gonna be a free browser or will it cost us??

Well if you look at the various "layers" provided out of the gate, it seems like it might be sponsored by the various groups providing data. I mean how often are you going to want to use this program to find real estate in the Netherlands (or anywhere in the world for that matter)?
The kind of stuff i'd want an augmented reality program for (finding local eateries, sights to see, etc) seem conspicuously missing in the demo video.
delta_foxtrot2 is right. For all of you that want to try it, it's already in the market, called wikitude, may be this new browser have more POIs or have better way of allowing others to add those POIs but as far as the mechanism goes, it's already in the market, and it is free.

[game] Armed! - Starcraft style

I do not know if this has been posted before, but Armed has been released about a week ago. I've been playing it like crazy ever since. Has multiplayer, turn based, etc. CPU AI is pretty hard too.

It still has a few bugs which may result in crashes every now and then. But it's very stable most of the time. At least for me. Its developers are working hard on some updates that address the bugs/crashes and add new features and maps. I for one don't regret spending 4 bucks for this - in my opinion - awesome game.
I haven't played/test it. I mostly just did some research of reviews. Seeing a good many people say it crashes during start up. They can't play the game. So, just a friendly advisory!
Try powering off your phone. It also has issues for region not being in English/US. So if that happens change your region I think. Otherwise, just wait for the fix.
I love the game, and $4 is nothing for this.
Hi guys.
I'm one of the developers of ARMED!
We're first time smartphone developers... we did a little Java phone development in like 2004, but most of our experience is in PC and console games. Try as we might we had some crash bugs... most of them related to non-US regions.
We spent alot of time before release testing the stability of gameplay... we ran thru hundreds of thousands of automated games driven by special stress test AI, but we made some rookie mistakes in other areas... like not testing the game in different locales.
It also doesn't help that it wasn't till yesterday that we got our first stack traces from Microsoft.... that was almost 2 weeks since our game was up on the marketplace. That's way too slow for the pace of moblie development IMO... we've learned our lesson there are have integrated Bugsense (google it... forum won't let me post links) for the next release.
Anyway the 1.1 release just appeared in the marketplace and it addresses all the bugs we knew of as of a week ago. I'm sure we'll find more, but at least the locale and a couple of dumb crash bugs were squashed and should make it playable for everyone.
Thanks for trying ARMED!
i like the graphics and control. Keep up the godo work.
Are the price depends on our country that we are residing or it's in standard USD.I mean for all the apps in the markrtplace.
Question to the developer:
I am an indie developer with Full-time job, and have my own game on Marketplace as well. How do you promote your game, and do you earn something for all hard work you put into the game ? As I see it right now, it would be really hard to make a living from it.
My game is free (with ads) and recently I added non-ads version of the game for people to donate something, or to disable ads.
What I found out is that from ads you earn ~0
Btw. As I said before your game is really an Eye candy
@Ttblondey
The developer has control over pricing in each region individually if they want to set them.
In our case we set the price for the US region and let it automatically set the equivalent price in all other regions.

I sort of agree... it depends on your app/game. Most of what i see on the marketplace are things one could build in a couple of hours or clones of other apps/games. It is hard to rally users behind you if you don't have a unique and high quality product.
At the current sales/ad rate we could not support our entire company (6 people) with ARMED! sales on WP7 alone. We could support one employee... but not 6.
To me this is a victory and shows the potential of WP7 in the future considering that its only 1%-2% of the smartphone market. With the push MS plans to make over the next few months i expect our revenue to at least double if we can keep the attention of the audience with updates and improvements.
That all said... we are looking at ports to other platforms to maximize revenue from the ARMED! brand and core tech. We're not ready to disclose what platforms those are yet... but it won't be Android.

We're struggling with our ads as well. It is all new territory for us, so i'm giving it some time before i pass judgement.
Our 1.0 release was missing ID_CAP_WEBBROWSERCOMPONENT which seems caused the ad network to not show near as many ads as it could. Still even after fixing this in 1.1 on my personal phone i still don't see ads at times which is really confusing to me. Still i see ad revenue improving, but its barely enough to by coffee for the office.
There is money to be made with ads... people are doing it now. Also WP7 often has a higher revenue on the same amount of impressions... but you have to get impressions.
If your game/app is not attracting users then you won't make money with ads. You need to be seeing 50K to 100K impressions per-day to really support yourself with ads alone. Most developers do this by shipping several high quality apps... not just a single one.

Well if say you work somewhere would you like it if your employer does not pay you for your work?

soo why are you making a wp7 custom rom? or the bazaar app ( its like installus right?) ?
if you pay for it why do need need developers for... (android dev i understand...)
edit: you can lock... i read somewhere i got my answer...
CustomROMs and Unlocks enable you to run Apps that are not possible with the official APIs. Bazaar is an alternate Marketplace that provides the possibility to centrally discover and install those Apps not possible in the official Marketplace. Bazaar does not allow you to pirate applications from the official Marketplace.

Its people like you that have already destroyed the PC games market something I personally loved and could out perform any console (eyefinity anyone, not to mention far more hardcore graphics etc). Now the Pirates are doing what they can to rip off the phone market. I mean how cheap is this world??? If you cant afford a couple quid then maybe you should get a job!
Im waiting on this answer too, thinking about moving from my Titan to a HTC 8S, but only if I can sideload my apps, I have 3 I have wrote and probably will never send to market (never get round to polishing them up) and REALLY dont wanna pay $99 for the use of my own apps on my own phone, as soon as this information hits Ill pre-order a 8S

Sent from my Lumia 900 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Companies will be able to install Apps from outside the Marketplace but we don't know yet how that will be managed. If I had to guess I'd be pretty sure that there will be no free sideloading, given that Windows 8 doesn't allow sideloading of Metro-Apps either without a developer certificate (though they are issuing them for free at the moment).
Microsoft will be allowing third-party developers to build Live Apps. These Live Apps can integrate with the lock screen, and also integrate into the new Windows Phone 8 Wallet and other hubs on the phone. The ability to choose among three different sizes of tiles as part of Windows Phone 8 OS.
http://www.zdnet.com/microsofts-windows-phone-8-has-live-tiles-and-live-apps-7000006545/
is its mean that i can install a third-party app?
if soo i want to install waze, this one: http://meirtsvi.wordpress.com/
is it possible?
You can't install Apps from outside the Windows Phone Store unless your Apps are signed with a specific Certificate that you only get after being verified as a company.
Pirates destroyed PC Gaming?
WTF are you on about the PC market is doing better than ever right now and it's driving future business models for all platforms. I mean not only is there a Free 2 Play revolution going on but it's been a platform for mods to drive sales for games like Dayz has sold at least 1 million copies of ArmA 2 as a result. On top of that we have Steam which is currently the best digital distribution software for any platform and it has created this whole Sales trend. Then we have the flash games and all the casual Facebook games which I would be has more people playing than any platform alone.
The PC is just fine, the strongest platform out there and brings in the most revenue. The only difference is people tend to think of game sales just being retail box copies. Also lets not forget the fact that people who pirate media buy more media than people who don't, they just cannot afford to buy everything because it is their hobby and it would become so expensive. For example my friend buys all his games on his Xbox 360 but he's only bought 2-3 games this year and he doesn't know how to torrent, where as I torrent every game to try it out, yet I've bought over 20 games on Steam alone this year and some how I'm labeled as a pirate. Most of my friends torrent games and again they all buy far more games than any other group of gamer I know of.
So please put that piracy bull**** argument away, it was old 5 years ago and it's even older now.
Lets not forget the PC mod and indie scene has produced some of the best developers out there today. When a developer tries to deal with Microsoft or Sony they have to go through all these legal and restriction issues with them and wait around for ages. When their games are released they hardly get any coverage and are forgotten quickly. I think you'll find indie developers find far more success on Steam or even their own sites like Minecraft or Project Zomboid.
Start using bing rewards. you earn points for searching with bing, and you can use those points & redeem them for MS points, amazon $$, Starbucks, and now you can use them to but wp8 apps/games. This is better that pirating because you get updates on time, and if its an xboz game you can get achievements.

You will not get people here to agree with you that it would be great to pirate software. Most games on WP7 and WP8 have a Trial-Mode anyway that allows you to play the start of the game to check if it would be interesting to you - actually ALL XBox Live titles in the Marketplace have that.
Aside from that your price argument falls to pieces really quickly in the Smartphone sector given that most games don't cost more then 3$. That's less then you pay for a beer at a bar. We're not talking about expensive Software here. Piracy is especially bad for small developers, given that they don't earn much to begin with.
Modding is a completely different topic that does not have too much to do with piracy. Many games actually have their own APIs available to allow for those extensions. This has nothing to do with unlicensed copying.
It always amazes me to see people buy phones for $ 600 and then get annoyed when they are told they should shell out $ 1 - 3 for a game every once in a while.
I plan to switch to simple mobile, and im eyeballing the 920. i could care less about pirating windows app but i would like to know if there is any form of emulator apps, or perhaps a way to sideload those like you can in android?
my concern regarding pricing is fairly simple, on android i can get angry birds for free, pay 99 cents and get adfree versions. on iOS its 99 cents, with windows devices you pay 5 bucks and it doesnt seem like its updated nearly as often. im only using this as an example i wont be bother to play angry birds, wheres my water is much better . i wont pirate the apps that arent IMO worth while but i sure as hell wont buy em either.
and before anyone comments on if im cheap or not etc, ive spent at least 80 bucks on various android apps the most expensive one being 7 bucks for a fairly useful app
As was already stated above: there is no sideloading on WP8 unless you have a company certificate or have your device developer unlocked. There have been homebrew Emulators for WP7 but given that the inclusion of ROMs would have been a violation of the ROM-owners copyrights those Emulators were not allowed in the Marketplace.
Angry Birds btw. is 99 Cents at the moment in the Marketplace. Some months ago they dropped the prices on several XBox Live games. Indie games have regularly been at the 99 Cent price point even before that.
Nobody takes issue with people saying they won't pay for an App they don't enjoy and just won't use it for that reason. The problem is that there are many people around that say they won't buy into a phone because it is so expensive by itself and they don't want to pay for the Apps they use on it for that reason.
interesting, why would they have included roms? with teh android versions you download the app and put the files on your sdcard. and thats what i was wondering more about, i have a dreamspark account due to my student status and i believe at the time it allowed you to unlock your wp7 device?
i havent truly looked throught any of teh marketplace and ive only loaded up my recent install of win8 and saw angry birds space was 5 bucks, which suits me fine i have plenty of those kind of "smartphone" games on my tablet. im more interested in getting better quality xbox live enabled games, those im willing to drop the money on
i think its actually a valid point, i mean im fairly vested into android and for me to uproot and switch OS' means that day one after i drop x amount of dollars on a new device if i want any of teh apps that i used to have back i have to go and repurchase them all. thanks for all the info, as i dont really know a whole lot about wp8

You still get one year of Dev Center membership for free with your Dreamspark Account. They would have had to include the ROMs given that there were no exchangeable SD-Cards or an accessible Filesystem in WP7.

Hi there! looking for your feedback!

Hi All!
I'm quite new android games developer. I'm looking for developers community feedback on my first "serious" project.
So, as I'm keen on brain teasers I wanted to create some puzzle game. I've started my research and found out one of old style games called Freeways. So I thoutght that I can improve it from design and car behaviour perspective.
For last couple of weeks I have few thousands of downloads but very few feedback!
And I don't know should I upgrade it further or there is no chance to find my audience....
I've spent like 1 year to make it and absolutly dissapointed that there is now feedback from players. Should I start another project? Another 1 year?
Please advise... Thank you in advance!
Link to my game is here:
Motorways mind logic puzzles - Apps on Google Play
Stack the states in brain teaser IQ puzzle. Memory & thinking car traffic maze.

WYSIWYG.
Feedback, yes well here you go...
Looks like a data miner to me
No reason to know my precise location or browser history, share with 3rd parties or for me not to have the option to delete collected data.
I wouldn't even install it... based on that alone.
The games I have are all firewall blocked
My favorite apps have zero permissions and never request internet service. They are also some of the best.
Hi Blackhawk! That's a feedback already. This is set up of ads mediation I'm using. Probably it stops other users aswell. Probably I need to find another mediator

I know you want sponsorship and to generate revenue. I can understand that. It's a tough business. Poweramp has a good business model and is one of my few gladly paid for apps. A lot of bang for the buck and nothing comes close to it for a stand alone music player.
Unfortunately from a user prospective that degree of data mining is potentially harmful. Personally I won't tolerate it... no app is worth that. All social media and shopping apps are banned from my devices. Done that for a decade now. One of the first things I targeted when I started using Androids.
