Windows Mobile 6 Options - Off-topic

I recently purchased the HP IPAQ 211.
I know I have seen both Iphone and Touchflo based skins / mods on the internet, youtube, etc.
Where should I be going to research more about this process?
I have uploaded a program called Wisbar Advance and Wisbar desktop which alot of them apparently use, however would someone point me in the right direction to accomplish the task of getting a decent Iphone theme and also Touchflo interface if possible?
Also, anyone have a decent list of APPS for it?
My primary use will be photos of my kids, some music / movies, and basic business apps but nothing more than keeping business contacts probably.
Any help appreciated.
I apologize in advance for the newb question but alot of people mention XDA as the place for PDA mods, but my PDA isnt' listed in the phone list so I don't know if there is a site more directed towards my usage.
Again any help appreciated.

Unfortunately this forum is for HTC manufactured phones and yours is an HP. So there is no page for your phone. You can try some of the generic WM 6 apps here and see if they work on your phone.

Hrmph
I appreciate the heads up.
Would you or anyone know just a WM6 PDA type site similar to this one then?
I will toy around with the apps I find then.
And thank you for the help.

Google is a wonderful thing.....
http://www.google.com/search?q=iPho...ox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7ADBR

heh
I had already looked into some of that.
Between Ifonz, Lazyboys Iphone, and half a dozen other rip offs of the iphone skin, I was hoping for more input on what works vs what doesn't before I clog up my device with 10 different skins trying to accomplish the same thing.
I am more interested in the touchflo (probably why I am here) that I have seen on youtube especially because I like the cube effects much more than the simple iphone icons.
Sorry to keep pestering, just wanted anyones experience with some of the apps, not to have people just tell me to research it myself.
If no such person has any other device or has never used anything other than a stock HTC, then so be it.

Pocket Outlook in .cab form?

Friend of mine foolishly bought the Fujitsu-Siemens N100 Personal Navigation Assistant the other day. Crazy fool, I hear you cry, and you'd be right.
However, he has figured out a way to get onto CE from the abysmal Navigon software, so rather than throwing it away, would quite like to use it as a PDA.
Except CE 5.0 seems to have been brewed without the useful stuff like Pocket Outlook etc, so its a bit bare.
Does anyone either have the .cabs for Outlook etc, or a suggestion as to something else he can use for PIM stuff that will sync nicely with Outlook?
Not hugely hopeful, but if you guys cant....
*flatter, flatter*

PS Having dropped my second Universal in as many months, how easy is it to change the screen?
Marcus,
Digging up old stuff ... thanks for asking on my behalf ... it's appreciated.
As it is, I have another thread on the topic, running here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330757&highlight=N100
AS it is, it looks like I am drawing a blank all 'round!
(BTW, What is abysmal about Navigon? I am new to the field - are other navigation software packages better?)

MSN Direct

http://phone.msndirect.com/phone/download.html
I cannot get it to work on the Kaiser, has anyone tried this yet?
Won't install for me either. Says it's not intended for this device.
I'm running v3.0 Sleuth. Could be it doesn't like WinMo 6.1, but I have no way to verify that unless I reflash.
I have a t-mobile Wing and it doesn't work either. I think it is because all the phones listed as supported are smartphones (without touch screen).
Anyone know a work-around install for touch screen based units?
Just look at the name of the file it installs: SP50.cab = SP= Smartphone.
I've adjusted the CAB a little to allow it to install on a Kaiser. But when installed it's not 100%.
It installs, you can run the MSNDirect.exe through File Explorer, but as the controls are geared towards SmartPhone, it's not all that usable
Perhaps someone with additional skills can tweak it.
Is it possible for someone to tweak the program to be more touch friendly?
I'm pretty bummed about this. I've had a SPOT watch for years and would really like to have it on my Kaiser.
I have a Dash sitting on a shelf at home, that my wife didn't want, but I really can't switch to a Dash for MSN Direct.
its work for me
samsung b7320
but no wethr for iran .......
sucks!!!
but rep+++

Wow I didn't even know this service was still around...I used to have one of the watches, they were pretty cool.
This does not pertain to Kaiser Rom Development. Please post questions like this in the Kaiser General section in the future.

Today Widgets for Kaiser?

Ok so this is actually my first time posting in a long time. i do regularly flash the great roms on this site and use the cabs that are presented here. wonderful work guys.
ok so my question is, is it possible for someone to write some software for some widgets like the ones on the new Samsung I900? I know that it runs off WM 6.1 Pro. But is the today screen widget system a flash program? or built in somehow? it would be so cool to have something like that on the today screen of my 6.0 kaiser. ive seen so many different UIs its hard to name them all. they are all pretty cool in their own ways, but if someone made this as a cab that would be awsome. i know someone will be dumping the I900 rom sometime soon. hopefully!!!!
thanks,
vince
i dont get it, so nobody thinks this is possible? any takers....bueller...bueller...
Two suggestions...
Link to what you're asking about so someone can possibly make comparisons.
Don't be annoying/insulting.

riiight... i wasnt trying to be annoying or insulting. i figured a quick search on youtube wuold have informed anyone about the phone in question. seems simple enough to me.
well. the Omnia I900 is a new phone that is being put out by Samsung. If you watch the video posted above youll see the widgets that i am talking about. they seem to be flash based. sort of like the ones in vista. i wonder about how much memory they take up. the phone has some other cool things as well like the screen rotate transitions. i love the one from this device. hope some programmers here can chime in on this one.

Apart from the dragging and dropping of widget from the sidebar, everything else is able to be reproduced on wm6 using various methods. rlToday and MobileShell are starting points. The i900 is not that great of a phone.
I figured out the Widgets app is called TouchWiz. i was wondering if anyone has been able to make a cab out of this? i would probably use it if it were available. ive tried a lot of shells, launchers, plugins, they are all cool but none seem to be the end all OS-replacement. by that i mean that they cant do everything yet. some will do some things good and others do other things good, but none do everything good! i know its a lot to ask for from just a shell, but if the next iphone (not 3g version) is any good with a 3rd party following thats growing, i might jump on. its gonna take some great plugs and an awsome os update to keep me on the windows mobile wagon.
i really wish they would start to try and move away from teh stylus usage on their future OS versions. like the Omnia. this would make alot of people happier i think.

-Price - Currently over $1,100 in Australia vs. TyTnII free on most caps. Ouch.
- Poor finger menu navigation. Like most WM6 devices, the underlying OS is designed for stylus use, not thumbs. Comes with a stylus but no slot to put it in the phone.
- No physical keyboard, and dodgy software keyboard which cover 3/4 of the screen making it impossible to see what your typing underneath.
- Haptic touch is cool, but the glossy body is really bad (good?) at collecting fingerprint smudges. Carrying a cloth all day is pretty lame too.
- Battery life is ok, except when using GPS or 3G/HSDPA- reports of going from 100% to fully flat in under 40 mins while using satnav & about 3 hrs talk time on 3G. Cant personally verify this because I only played in-store for about half an hour - google around though..
- Can't use it as a bluetooth HSDPA modem for laptop/PC. Even my 5 yr old nokia can do this..
- Annoying automatic screen orientation, way too sensitive when you moving your arm around and the screen starts freaking out and spinning.
- Reports of random shut downs. Cnet reviewer had 2 in 3 days & pressing the Power On button does not help - have to physically remove and re-insert the battery to reset it.
- Useless "widgets" - Stock ROM does not include Calendar, Messaging or mainstream apps. Like the nazi-esque licensing for the iphone app store, you're not allowed to add / develop non-Samsung-approved apps. So for the time being you have a fancy looking but useless desktop. Standard WM6 "today" screen & various plugins is much much more usable.
Bottom line is its fashion over function. Some will love it, but there's too much iPhone mentality going on to even consider it for folks like me (I like to tweak and fiddle with everything to make a system that suits me perfectly - way better phones already out that can do this easier (TyTnII, imho) )
I do like the camera though, and the weird not-quite-VGA 240x400 resolution.
I agree. I am not interested in flashing a new ROM but would rather customize a few features usings cabs and so forth.
There are some widgets that I would like to use myself. This is very similar to the Vista sidebar that I have become familiar with and appreciate now.
Hi,
i found the related widgets, on rapidshare or megauload.it works fine
on a Qvga pda, but on mine (I780) i have resolution problems
Bye
Herc.
yeah i found a thread in the general-hacking and development section where someone has already made a cab for the widgets. after installing you have to reset your device for them to appear in the today plugins selection. the widgets are really cool but not being able to edit the apps they control at the moment kinda sucks. some of them dont do anything because they are supposed to be connected to programs in the Omnia I900

New diamond for XMAS -- questions

My wife got me a diamond for christmas, it replaced an original Touch (vogue). I wonder if I could bother the experts with a few questions..
1. Other than keyboard and memory expansion is there any real benefit to go with a touch pro? I had 2gb expansion on my old touch and never exceeded it.
2. My carrier is sprint, model is DIAM500, ROM 1.09.651.5 Which if any Custom ROM upgrade would y'all recomend,
3. Major complaint: I listen to a lot of audio books. When listening and wearing headphones OR using aux input on sterio, it auto answers even though I have auto answer turned off in phone settings... any ideas.
4. I've installed a new theme, only complaint is home screen limited plug-ins. Does HTC have a TF3D API to expand or is that limited?
5. I have advanced config installed, gyro 2 installed, TFT3d config, and sbp phone suite... any other "essentials" anyone can recomend?
I have limited WM and CE development experience (Ford Sync and WM5 basic apps). Any dev tools a "must have" for development or theme development for this phone?
I have tried to find some of the above answers but have not had much luck, perhaps because of my limited knowledge. Any assistance would be most appreciated.
1 think only the touch pro support the tv out cable
and for development then depend on what you wish to develop
if you wish to develop apps you will need
visual studio if you want to make .net apps and visual studio and wm6 std if you wish
to develop c++ win32 apps
if you just want to make skins ms paint is likely to be enough

Honnestly, it all depends of your needs. Some like to go more all out where as others like to have faster roms in terms of response. So it's really what you want to have.
Also there are different rom versions which do extra stuff. Depends what you want to do.
Make sure you read the HOW TO's section in the ROM Development section.

Make sure you get yourself a GPS software hahaha
You may want to look at the whole debate behind SensorLock, S2U2 and AutoKeysDisabler (not quite sure of the exact name). SensorLock is what I use and is pretty good for what it does.

If you want to make applications for windows mobile, like Rudegar said you will need Visual Studio.
If you wish only to make tweaks and package them in cabs for other uses to use, consider WinCE Cab Manager.
Enjoy your Diamond
Thanks for the responses guys! Most appreciated.

Will do. Are most ROM's carrier specific (or will I find out in the how to's? )

No, not tabls, but the home screen... on mine I only have a clock, call history, and calendar available. I'm used to the old home screen where I could enable which plug-ins to display (e.g. SPB phone suite today plug in). Don't get me wrong, I can adjust just fine if not available...

Yup, got VS 2008 enterprise + WM6 sdk and emulators. Will look into WinCE cab manager. Is HTC going to release an SDK for the TF3D?

1. This answer depends on the user. For those who like texting with one hand and feel that 4gb of internal storage is more than adequate, like myself, then the soft-keyboard only device is fine.
2. As far as custom roms go, the second thing you should look at is getting hardspl on your phone; the first being the CDMA section of this board.
3. an app? an ipod?
4. im sorry that's beyond my limited realm of knowledge. TF3D seems fairly closed to that stuff.
5. phm registry editor
Umm yeah, so... hi.

Looking for Mobile Shell/ SPB Touchflo 3d

Hello all,
I'm truly sorry if I have start it a new thread that has an answer else where but I have looked and typed all different ways and can not find a few things I'm looking for for an AT&T TILT 8925...
I have seen all different type of posts for TOMTOM and people having problems with their Garmin but I can not find a cab file for a Garmin anyplace...
Also, I can not seem to find a SPB cab file anyplace either... I have seen a lot of today's screen and such but no touchflo or SPB ( not sure if they are the same thing)...
Anyways, if you can please send me to the right direction or send me the cab files, it would be greatly appreciate it...
And also, if you know or have any other cool stuff for a 8925 I would love to see what all this phone is capable of.
Thank you and again my apology if I didn't look hard enough or can't seem to find them.
SPB Mobile Shell is a commercial product -- go to their site and you can download a trial, and buy it if you like it.
I have it, and I think it is pretty darn good
Looking forward to version 3 out sometime this month.
