Okay, the problem is -- I recently installed a theme on my internal storage, and no matter what I do, it doesn't want to uninstall. I tried going to start-settings-syystem-remove programs, but it didn't work. I tried running the cab file and letting it uninstall but it didn't work. So, i think the only other option is a hard reset. But, i want to back up everything on my internal storage. However, if i backup everything then restore, the theme will still be 'installed' correct? All i want from this is the theme uninstalled. I have the cab files of my other programs so i could easily load them up after the hard reset. I do want to keep my pictures and videos etc. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?
If you do a hard reset it will leave your internal storage intact, with no programs, or themes installed, you can then safely remove whatever folders/files it created on your internal storage when you installed it.
However you will need to reinstall each of you proggies as well that you need.
Maybe you could change the file extension, that could help if you want to delete the file.
I want to clear my internal storage with my hard reset, so if I save my backup file onto my internal storage, won't the backup file be deleted?
yes.....back things up on your pc if you are deleting both device and internal storage. PC backup is crucial anyway.
A hard reset won't clear your internal memory as well, you'll need to format that using the phone.
Well i want to format the internal storage so I have to go to start-settings-system-clear storage? But before that I probably should send everything to my PC so I can just send it to my phone after, correct?
Steps
1) send everything to your pc
2) after the transfer, begin to delete files from Internal using your PC
3) hard reset phone (will bring you back to manufactures specs with what ever rom you have)
Would i delete files from internal via my PC with ActiveSync? That doesn't seem to work for me half of the time.
To get the fastest response, when you connect the usb cable choose the Disk option, this will load the internal memory as a memory stick / flash drive in your My Computer, from there you can backup what you need and then format the drive. Putting it in Disk Mode is more or less same as ActiveSync but syncs direct with the internal memory chip so allows for faster file transfer
Steps one and two completed. Should I do a hard reset and press volume down instead of volume up? Or shouls i clear storage?
If you have backed up what you need, format the internal storage from either your PC or phone, then do the Hard Reset. Once done your back to square one, out of the box type with your phone.
I remember having a similar problem when I was trying to install a clock...
No matter how I tried to remove it, it just wouldnt remove completely. The name was no longer appearing in the "Remove Programs" list but there were still bits and pieces of the clock on my today screen...
Eventually, I just installed another clock over it and when I went to remove this new clock, it seems the uninstall process also removed the junk that was left over from my initial install... Everything was back to normal after that and I didnt need to do a hard-reset...
Maybe give that a go...
Did the clear storage, and walah the theme is gone. And opera now works. Thanks guys.
Glad you got it sorted mate, love how HTC make there devices so easy to manage, with some other phones if that had happened, you would be stuck.
Yet with the HTC I can flash ROM's as often as I like to try different ones, etc, almost change them as often as I reinstall my desktop and pc with all the beta testing I do. Nicely done HTC.

Does anyone know how to retrieve items accidentally deleted from a SD Card because of a hard reset? I had so many photos and I would like to see if I can get them back.
You'll hav to get a 3rd party application to do it and you're not promised to get them back. It scans the whole card and just takes forever.

a Hard reset would not delete files on your SD card. You must have had the photos saved to your phone memory.

I thought that it wouldn't erase them either. I have done hard resets before and my items were never erased before. I made sure everything I wanted to keep was on the memory card for this reason. But for some reason this time it erased everything. I guess this was one of those freak accidents. This is why I am asking for help.
I appreciate any help on this issue.
You did something wrong then because there's no logical way they could've erased that way. On the other side, you should have followed flashing procedures by removing the memory card and sim
Your so right, kareem9nba. I should have known better. Thank you for your help.
This is why every week, I copy all the contents of my SD card (where I keep everything) To my Desktop PC in a folder I call "SDBackup" I've working with Computer long enough to know, if you don't have a backup, you are asking for trouble.
People call this Murphy's Law.
I had an issue similar to this that scared the crap out of me.
I took my SD card out of my phone, powered off beforehand, and then loaded it into my speedy microSD adapter so I could copy lots of data from my computer to it. Upon inserting the card into my monitor's SD reader, Vista gave me to "You must format this card before it can be used" message.
It took 3 removals and reinsertions to get my PC and my Tilt to see the files again. I promptly backed up my files and did a full format on my storage card. Everything's been fine since.
Im a little more paranoid and do it at least once every couple of days, just because Im on the forum alot and frequently see horror stories where people end up losing alot of their stuff.
Active File Recovery 7.3 Build 101
Very Interesting Question that made me perform a new expirement
to answer your question directly best thing is to use a 3rd party application called Active File Recovery 7.3 Build 101 it will recover data even after format or delete by mistake.
but in your case its not necessary - hard reset only delete internal storge (sd card data is intact)
i did an expirement ( i stored photos and documents in my phone) and i performed a hard reset... i used Active File Recovery 7.3 Build 101 and guess what i managed to retrieve the TOC of my INTERNAL STOREAGE but not the files... but i guess if i looked for a more powerful application i could retrieve the files themselves
i flashed new rom and used Active File Recovery 7.3 Build 101 (resulting 0 files or 0 TOC to retrieve)
conclusion of my experiment that may not relate 100% with your question is if you hard rest (some of your data can be retireved) if you flash new rom or reflash a rom (0 data can be accessed) using commercial softwares
best luck and look for our experts comments

all undelete programs which works on pc's harddisks works just the same on a sdcard in a sdcard reader connected to a pc
there are plenty and many free

Please does anybody know what´s the best program to recover data from internal storage?? It´s very strange, but after flashing new ROM my internal storage is totally clear - I lost 3,5GB of data
I tried Power Data Recovery - that works, but it found only half of lost files..
My backups from PIM backup were also stored on there so how to recover it??
Thx for your help I´m an idiot - I left my backup only there n didn´t copy to PC
I never make and backups.. and after flashing the device all the data on internall storage remains intact.. as it should be.. Flashing shouldnt have to do anything with your internal storage..

Some HardSPL have the possibility to clear Internal Storage as well. When you perform Hard Reset procedure: just after you press 3 magic keys and get color boot screen, you get the gray backround with the message like: "Press VolUp to reset (or resume defaults) the device"..
I guess Olinex SPL got second one: Press VolDown to reset and clear the InternalStorage...
I guess this may be the problem.

Thx man I´ll try it...for me is most important to recover some jpg photos and PIM backups files. By "Power data recovery" I found 70% of all lost data, but most of the pictures-photos are corrupted n I don´t know how to fix them.
Edited: Yes this issue with HardSPL I probably have, ´cause like I wrote, after flashin new ROM the phone after first launch n installin all of apps reseted itself n the process was simillar like when you do Hard reset manually - after restart it wanted to press vol up to boot - that means it made Hard reset I think n I couldn´t stop it)))
Edited: So I tried about 5 programs n did number of scans with the same results - 372 files found, but at least two thirds of them are corrupted or damaged so can´t be recovered..unfortunatelly most of the "health" files are mp3s n its´ tags (pictures) n that´s all (theese i got in my pc), all 48 wallpapers (also got in my pc), but only 3 photos n no backup file...I´m f....ing IDIOT that I never backed up these files to my pc
Thanks guys for your answer))
I have a similar problem - I've lost important data from my Diamond. I've tried recovering it with few programms (Easy Recovery, Power Data Back) and they've found most of lost files from Main Storage. But the problem is that these programms don't detect Internal Storage, so I can't even try recovering my data from it...Is there any way to make the programms see Internal Storage (if yes, which..?) or maybe I should change sth in settings of Internal Storage?
2months before i accidantly formated internal storage.
tried wih few apps(o&o,norton...) result was almost 0
than i installed recover my files and i succed to recover almost ecerything.,so try with this app, hope i helped.
Thanx, it's seems to be a great programm, but still it detects only my computer's drivers, it doesn't detect Internal Storage. Can you describe more precisely what've you done?
Damn...
OK we all make mistakes but yes me too I cleared the 4gb drive when conected to my PC thinking it was my usb pen drive DOH!
but i recovered 85% using EASEUS data recovery software worked a beaut...
goodluck and hope u get ure files back.

when connecting diamond to pc choose disk drive, than app should see internal storage.
good help!!
I have been playing with my diamond and now that I know what programs I want to run - decided to reset my to factory defaults and install only the programs I want.
I reformatted all memory (4gig and system) and everything was back to normal sprint as I recieved it.
I started installing the apps I wanted, and realised that I no longer had the option of installing to the 4 gig area. (even though that is where I was running the cab from.)
The memory is there and appears to be fine, but anytime I install something, it installs to the internal memory and never gives me the options of where to install it.
Anyone have any idea what I have done to mess this up? Was working fine before the reset and as I said, I can still see the internal storage (and run the .cab files from there) Even the programs I had installed to internal memory before, no longer give me that option. I am lost as to what to do.
Thanks,
Michael
Since you just reformatted I'd try another hard reset and see if you don't get a better first load.

Tried a hard reset and reformatting the data (not at the same time) and still the same issue. When I install a program, it installs straight to the internal memory and I do not have a choice to load it anywhere else.
Any other suggestions?
Just got off the phone with HTC and it is a known issue with some phones after reformatting internal memory.
Basically issue was proven out by going to windows - setttings - Programs - Memory and looking at the Storage Card tab and there was no card installed....
Solution is to reformat the internal storage with your computer. (hook up the phone to the computer and select "hard drive" rather than "ActiveSync", right click on the drive letter that appears and select Format.
Problem was that with my XP machine it was like trying to format a floppy drive without a disk in the drive. (just kept locking up and giving me errors) My wifes Vista machine was able to format it just fine. (BTW - quick format will not work and you want to format it as FAT32)
I am now back in business.... HTC tech support was great and got my issue resolved for me.

Hi, Im trying to exchange my phone and Im having issues with getting the phone bone stock. I used odin 1 click, did a factory data reset, and all my pictures, app folders and various other things are still on the internal SD card. I was using titanium backup, I think thats the cause (not sure though)
I also just flashed JH3, super rooter, and the OC kernel. But as far as I can tell, those are back to factory. I just cant wipe all my data and I dont know if doing it manually will clear up everything.
Suggestions/questions? Thanks!
I even tried the master clear. I can still see files for shootme, sl4a, clockworkmod, update.zip's, and tons of other folders including busybox
Did you try connecting your phone to your computer, mounting the sd card, then open the driver than your sd card is on and manually delete the files that way? You can move the titanium back up to an external sd card and see if that helps.
Go to Titanium Backup support and shoot them a pm, they got back to me within a day when I had questions if you think it's related to that.

I can do that, But what Im worried about is all the application data (including data for apps that require root) wont be deleted. Im not sure exactly what I would have to do to remove that as well. I wanted to leave it there, so that if I did manage to wipe it, Id know for sure everything was gone.
Ill also try sending them a message. Is it on that forum site they link to? Its not very clear as to how to contact them

I pm'd Shazd, I have the pro donated version so I had everything backed up, moved the folder for Titanium Backup and the folder for Titanium license to my exteral card. Then I flashed with Odin to stock and swapped my phone for a new one. Then I put the sd card in the new phone, connected to my computer and moved the files to the internal sd, installed Titanium from the market and when it installed my entire backup was there, settings, apps, and data were all there. I did a restore and everything was just as my old phone. Then I installed Unleash The Beast, the cool battery indicator, thanks to Designgears and the rest is history. When I flashed with Odin, all evidence of root were gone. AT&T didn't even check the phone, all I said was random shutdowns and a crack in the screen and they swapped it.
I have the paid donate version as well. I mean, I have the backup saved to my microsd and on my computer, Its just weird, I mean for some reason its not wiping. Im literally trying everything. I had a backup with clockwork mod and I re-rooted with 1 click root so that I could run that... It may be super rooter, Im starting to think thats more the case. But I really am just stumped
I flashed with Odin3 one click, maybe that's the difference. What did you use exactly?

Both versions lol. 1-click and version 1.0 or whatever by flashing the stock firmware Jh6 from samsung-firmwares.com. I even tried a factory data reset
It may just be files in my internal SD card themselves that arent being deleted... but Im not really sure
It didn't wipe all of my info when I did master clear and then doing the one click wipe. I'm bit sure why it wouldn't either but it did remove most of what I wanted gone.
Sweet life
Huh... Well I did a bunch of clear cache things, wiped my internal sd, and went throught my phone with root explorer and deleted whatever else I found. Wow that was a huge hassle
I think the best thing to do in the future is clear all user data through clockwork, then use odin for master clear then odin start to do it all. It is a hassle that's for sure.
The SD cards (internal and external) are not cleared with a full system wipe. When you delete all data through a system clear, it deletes everything stored internally to apps - in the phone memory where apps are installed.
Although the internal SD card is not really an SD card, the system treats it as an SD card. You can unmount both internal and external SD cards and then format them - that will wipe all data. Follow that with a system reset or Odin 1 click recovery and everything on your phone is factory new.
The phone is behaving as designed.
hey, I have accidentally deleted all the folders and subfolders from my Zuk Z2 pro Device with my Laptop. The reason was because I had some Trojans, I wanted to remove and no antivirus or security app did help. Now as I rebooted my Device, it stays with the Zuk Booting display and nothing happend unless it restarted and comes back to the same section every 20 minutes or something. What can I do to save my phone (to have the old version of my android just like it was) or to upgrade the android Version to the new one 7.1 . thanks for your helps. Please reply as fast as possible. I really need my phone

How did you get trojans on your phone?! And what makes you think that's what it was?
Okay, well, the bad news is you probably trashed all your data and will be setting up a new install as though you had done a factory reset. If /system was mounted as read-write, you probably don't get to go back to your old android just as it was unless you made a nandroid backup (that's the backup/restore option available through TWRP or CWM recoveries) and copied it to your computer before wiping. So, y'know, take a minute, take a deep breath, pour a drink, take a sip, and let that reality sink in. Sorry it happened.
I'm going to assume you're using some version of TWRP for recovery, because that's pretty much all there is for the Z2 Pro. Hopefully the 3.1.0 version from zukfans.eu, although if you got the 3.1.0 from LR.Team on the Chinese site, I'd like a download link. So just to make sure you've got nothing left, restart the phone and in the unlocked bootloader menu, go into recovery instead, go into the "Mount" button and make sure MTP is enabled, and plug into your computer with a good USB 3 type-C cable directly into a motherboard port (the factory cable can actually be kinda sketchy). If you go to This PC, see the "ZUK Z2121" MTP device, and can see "Internal memory" or "Internal storage" directory inside of that, then your MTP drivers are working correctly... and if internal memory is empty, then it's empty.
Gone.
Sorry. Take another sip and reflect on doing a backup (System, Data, Boot, and probably Persist in case you're planning on jumping between android 6 & 7) and copying that backup folder to your computer in-between each attempt to fiddle with things or start trying to sideload hacked PoGo apps from Russian sites.
Anyway, if that's truly the case and you've wiped out all the internal memory, you'll be reinstalling from scratch and you're not going to get all your stuff back.
You should probably plan to go to Advanced Wipe and clear out System, Data, Cache, Dalvik, and Boot. Don't touch Persist. Then make a new folder on the phone's internal memory (Installers or something), copy over a new ROM + Gapps, install it, reboot once into recovery just so TWRP can secure itself, then reboot into system and sign back in and start reloading all your contacts & apps & accounts & stuff.
If you have a backup, then copy it to your computer before anything else, take a backup of the current state, then restore the old backup.
In order for OTG (if that's what "ugt" is supposed to mean) to work, the adapter or thumb drive needs to actually support USB-OTG mode, and the memory card/drive needs to be 32GB or less, and formatted FAT32 (no exFAT, no 64+ gig thumb drives, boo). Go ahead and reformat it, then create a folder and copy the ROM+Gapps you want to install to it, plug it into the phone while in TWRP, go into the "mount" button and check the "USB-OTG" box, then go to Install, Select Storage, and choose "USB-OTG". Then you should be able to see the folder and install zips from the USB-OTG drive.
Good luck, and remember to take a backup and copy it to your computer for safe keeping when things are working, before you start trying to do weird things. Now finish that drink.
Memory is in Read-only Mode.

thanks for your kind reply, but unfortanetly the phone Memory ,as it get known with my computer is in Read only Mode, so I CAN NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ON IT. I can not even copy or create any folder in it. I am getting really mad on it because there is not even a proper Zuk costumer serrvice in europe for this phone and as I have contacted the chinese-Site zuk.com for support, they could also not help me.
