How I can change some images from the windows folder, they are read only and I can't change this, I can download the images to my pc and change them but I can't put them back, is there a other way then just decopile the entire rom?
Willem
it`s not possible, only you DUMP your Rom
greetz
Just use a program like Total Commander or Resco Explorer to copy the files into your Windows folder. The ROM files aren't actually overwritten, they are merely shadowed.

How do you unlock the ROM so that you can either delete, rename, or replace system files in the Windows directory???
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is using the patched v3 WM5 ROM BTW!
Also, when I do a ROM-to-SD dump using the d2s command, how do I get it so that the changed files in the ROM Windows directory are also copy as if they were part of the original ROM?
Unlock
You can easily do it with Resco Explore
Really? Lol, I feel stupid!
Thanks!
Now how can I get files that have been changed to remain during an SD ROM dump?
It isn't possible to delete Files with Resco Explorer in Windows Directory.
It writes: File is in ROM Memory, you can't delete this file.
Is there a workaround?
yes there is, dump the rom, modify the files repack and reflash
Does anyone has the dutch T9 dictionary for the to be used with the new K-JAM WWE ROM? Thanks!
is "Dutch" not an option in the drop-down list for the Phone Pad SIP languages tab?
This is the solution for using a Dutch dictionary in Word, SMS etc:
In this zip file 3 files are included:
dictprob.dat, statdict.dat and mssp2_nl.lex
Copy them to the \Windows dir and replace existing files.
(Maybe backup them first)
Change in the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Spell Check]
"Main_Dict"="\Windows\mssp2_nl.lex"
restart your Wizard
enjoy!
Thanks, but.... Cannot copy the file to my MDA. The file is read only and I'm unable to change the permissions..
extract the files on your pc, copy them to the wizard somewhere eg \my documents.
Then on the wizard use a filemanager eg Total Commander to copy them to the \windows directory.

That worked. Thanks again!
a tiny bump but just wanna say thanks cause this works for wm6 too
I've tried installing this, but my S200 keeps using the english files. According to Total Commander, the original files are ROM files and when I remove them al together, the original files will be back after a reboot.
I have problems in editing sym.0409.txt file from \Windows folder. All the files seem to be read only. Is there any posiiblity to edit/replace this file?

Yes, since it's a ROM-File you need an more "advanced" file manager like Resco Explorer or Total Commander to achieve that.
or you can sync your phone, copy the file from the phone to the pc, then edit it on the pc and copy it back.

What do you mean you "Deleted" it. As far as i know it's not possible to delete things from the ROM. Is it???
yes i overwrote it using total commander file explorer if you could just post up a copy of your wmplayer.exe file then i could copy it back into the windows folder and then i can access windows media player again lol
Nevermind I found a cab on the internets.
I overwrote too my wmplayer.exe using total commander file explorer.
Could someone send me his wmplayer.exe ?
my e-mail is [email protected]
Thanks a lot
hmmm...errr...i think files on the ROM that have been overwritten can be recoved by just deleting the file...this will undo the overwrite and the original file from the ROM will pop back into place
Yes, you're right.
I just deleted wmplayer.exe with ActiveSync and I rebooted, and wmp came back.
Thanks a lot !
I see a bunch of stuff in the windows folder that can go, but neither the built in file explorer nor TotalCommander will let me delete any of the files. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Null
make your own kitchen and remove files when building your ROM
Isn't there any easier way to remove crap from our windows folder??
most files in the windows dir is located in the rom which cant be altered apart from at full rom flash time
some can be overwritten if one use less poor filemanagers then explore like total commander
