Whats up guys, the other day i was searching this forum and I found an application that allowed you to set different sms notifications for different senders as well as email and a few other things and now I cannot find it for the life of me, anybody have the link to that thread? thanks
I've never heard of this but would be really cool to have on my Touch Pro, what device did you see it on before?

It wasn't an app, it was just an idea that someone came up. But it was never done. It was just an idea of development Although I don't think it's useful, but would love to see how they pull it out.
Different notifications TO YOU you mean?
What is the point?
Except if you mean auto reply to them (SMS or EMail) based on who they are.
CommManagerPro (you'll find it in XDA Devs) is adding this functionality in the next version (among other things).
Try Ringo. Its a WinMo software that enables you to set separate ringtones and SMS tones for each separate contact. The user interface is very very simple, it is a great application to have and use. Either try searching for it Google, or you might be able to find it on this forum using search.

No I meant like how you have custom ringtones for your contacts, I could have sworn I saw a thread with an app that allowed you to set custom SMS tones for your contacts instead of just one default SMS sound, but the other guy said it was just a concept for an application, :-(
Interesting idea.

as already stated - RINGO is an app that can do this for you.

I just when from Vanilla to SuperD newest version today.
Formerly when I received new email my phone would make no sound, only vibrate. Now I no longer seem to have that option, from what I can tell.
Any advice on this one?
What do you mean? On EMail or GMail? Did you check the Settings? Details plz?
Yeah... seems like a lot apks in android have their own settings and don't play nice with default settings. Go into an app (either Gmail or Email, whichever one gives you trouble), go into settings of that app and adjust as you please.
Good luck.
I only recently discovered this too. As said above you need to go into setting individually. You can do it for SMS/MMS too and set different tones for them.
thanks, i'm some sort of moron for not figuring this out on my own. doh.

Solved?
Report the thread to a mod so that it can be closed (red triangle next to #1) and maybe go edit, advanced and edit the title so that it says "SOLVED" or "FIXED" so that everyone knows.
Thanks!
The stock Hero dialer/phone allows you to send a pre-determined text message to a caller when you hit the menu button as a call comes in. Is there ANY app in the Market or apk file we can pull from the stock rom to have this feature in CM6?
This feature came in handy quite often.
Bump to the top (or should this be in the apps section)?
Have you tried Dindy? (Can't post a link because I'm a new member but it is in the Market, or search App Brain for it)
I haven't tried it but it seems to have a lot of features and is much cheaper than Advanced Call Manager.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I am actually looking for the ability to send a text manually - like the stock HTC phone program. I want to choose wether to accept, send to voicemail, or text reply to the call.
w00t!
Just found SMS Receptionist in the Market for 99cents that does exactly what I'm looking for. If anyone knows of a free app, please share!
Dunno if these are exactly what you're looking for, but they're both free to try out
SwiftReply Free and SwiftReply Lite relatively the same name but they're made by two different people

I actually tried the Free version, but it didn't actually work. No option ever popped up for me to decline and send a text. And when I set it to automatically send, it never sent anything at all. The lite version only has the auto feature which declines all calls (not what i'm looking for).
Thanks though
This is a free app that does something like what you want, I think.

Agreed, I'm glad you like it!
Hallo
How to stop or change viber sound notification?
TiA
Hi,
This is a member of the Viber R&D Team!
@shto - Changing Viber's notification sound is not available at this point. :/
However, we'd be happy if you add your idea via: http://bit.ly/H2xu54 Thanks!
You can stop Viber sounds form your regular device settings - Viber mirrors the device setting.
Please feel free to let us know your thoughts, questions and comments, we'd be happy to assist.
Thanks,
the Viber Team
Hi
Where is sound files?
It is no possible to change it?
Unfortunately we (as a company) cannot direct users to the exact files of the sounds (they are embedded within the app file).
As we said, we plan to add the option of customizing Viber's sounds in future versions.
We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
Tanks, but .. why you need to doing embedded sound files in application !? I don't understand you ....
Come on viber we have been waiting a long timeeee

We are aware of this request, and it is certainly high on our check list of development for future versions.
Once we have news about this feature, we'll make sure to inform you.
It's still not there after a year...
Hi,
We have since added an option in Viber to use the phone's ringtone+vibration settings, and we can see our users find this feature very useful.
We will consider adding an option to completely customize Viber's sounds and vibration in the future.

It's really annoying to have viber sound for every chat message. All other messaging apps have disable notifications. Appreciate if you can disable sounds.

This is a known request, and we are considering to add such a feature in future versions of ours.
Meanwhile, we invite you to enter our Feature Request page and post your suggestion there, or join an existing similar suggestion. Unfortunately it is not possible for us to integrate every suggested feature into Viber, but the more people join on a request, the faster it will become reality

+1 on removing chat sounds. It's annoying that it beeps and boops when receiving and sending messages. Other than that is the best chat app I've used so far.
Can we stop the stupid 'beep beep' sound whenever we receive a msg in viber yet?
Why is it so freaking hard?

Yes. Running Viber 4.0.0 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 running stock JB 4.1.2. I already uncheck 'Use system sounds' and it still beeps whenever a msg came in...
What else do I need to do?
Thanks.
agree as well. I dont mind if i cant change the sound of notifications but it really bothers me that i cant turn it off . Its quite annoying especially of you are in a chat widow with many participants

and not just 'beep beep' when a msg comes in, it also 'beep beep' when I sent out a msg...
Beside that, more bugs:
-------------------------------
- after I quit Viber by options->exit, when a msg came in, it still beeped and gave notification. If I quit Viber, it means I don't want to receive/send anything and therefore I don't want 'beeps' and notifications. Please stop everything when I choose 'exit'.
About the notification sounds:

@testrider -
This is the expected behavior from Viber at the moment. We see Viber as a "substitute" for your mobile service, meaning even if it's closed (using no RAM or bandwidth), it still remains available thanks to the C2DM service.
Viber's "exit" capability is relatively unique in the messaging space. Our statistics indicate that the vast majority of Viber users (well over 95%) never use this feature. In discussions with users about this feature we learned two things:
1. Those who wanted exit were typically "power users"
2. Overwhelmingly, the reason they wanted "exit" was not to become inaccessible but rather to make sure Viber does not consume any resources. Still, they expected Viber to be accessible even if they exit the app (via C2DM).
We believe the number of users that want to an exit feature that will turn off Viber completely represents an extremely small number of users - maybe 1 in 10,000 overall. As such, we do not believe adding an "exit and turn off notifications" feature is needed. It would merely serve to unnecessarily complicate the application. We are sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for, but we need to make sure that adding features that would make some happy would not hurt other users.
+1 for turn off notification sound!!
And I already posted request on your database.
if you use old version of viber app, to stop it to check/prompt for updates, add this to hosts file
Code:
127.0.0.1 www.cdn.viber.com
127.0.0.1 cdn.viber.com
I'm a new Note 8 owner/user. I've been searching high and low, and the majority of my search results lead here to XDA, but still left me looking for a solution, so naturally I made an account.
I'm trying to get multiple alert tones to work. I know about making the Notifications folder, or moving downloaded alert/ringtones to the existing Notifications folder so they can be set using the Settings>Notification Sounds option. My problem is that I can only change the "Default Notification Sound", "Message Notifications" and "Calendar Notifications". That I can do without issue.
I'd like to be able to change notifications for specific apps, i.e. GMail, when I get a new e-mail would have a different notification vice a Facebook alert.
If this has already been answered elsewhere and my Google-fu isn't up to snuff, could someone kindly point me in the right direction, or possibly show me a guide to get this accomplished? I'd be greatly appreciative.
I use macrodroid paid to sound specific sounds for any event of interest to me, so I know without looking what is exactly happening in my phone, I find it very useful, it is way more easy to use than tasker

So I take it this isn't something that can be done natively through the device itself?

Yes, not many options, as I have used macrodroid for long, I find it easier to do it this way, besides macrodroid can accomplish many other useful things

Be advised that, free version only allows 5 macros, paid one has no limitation, do not forget to exclude macrodoid from batt optimization, put it in the unmonitored section
most apps with audible notifications have an option in their own settings screen to set an alternative sound.
with gmail you can even set different sounds for different email accounts.

Where is that located at? I can't seem to find that feature in Gmail, only account syncing and the like. Nothing regarding notifications.

Macrodroid is king. Tasker to outdated and not user friendly. Developer of macro pretty cool guy and very helpful. I love how you can download tons of user submitted tasks.
I've been a android messages user for a while now, but since emui 8 on my p20 pro, I've not been able to set customizable notifications for different contacts. Thought it would work the way as Gmail app, but no luck. I'm using 3rd party app for the moment (TEXTRA), but I don't like it. Anyone have any answers?

Does Android messages do the same thing on other phones?
Yeah it does, I've used it since my P8, and my wife uses it on her P10. Checked again yesterday, can change notifications to whatever she wants. Its like they made it the same as their old sms app.
For some reason huawei has removed this option from android messages. One of many unexplained software decisions with emui

google made this rules
as new Google rule all messaging should happen via Google messaging app only
Wasn't Google, had a chat with the other week. They have no control of what Huawei did. And Huawei just said sorry, I'll ask our Devs team to look into it but they are looking into 9 pie, so they may never fix it.

which is fine, but it still does not answer why you can customize notifications in the google messaging app on any other phone, but not on huawei.

Tried it and it took me to the App Notifications Setting screen - selecting Messages does not show any settings to change the notification tone.
You should see an entry called Other notifications, click on that (the text not the toggle button and you will then be able to set the Sound and other options.
