Hallo
How to stop or change viber sound notification?
TiA
Hi,
This is a member of the Viber R&D Team!
@shto - Changing Viber's notification sound is not available at this point. :/
However, we'd be happy if you add your idea via: http://bit.ly/H2xu54 Thanks!
You can stop Viber sounds form your regular device settings - Viber mirrors the device setting.
Please feel free to let us know your thoughts, questions and comments, we'd be happy to assist.
Thanks,
the Viber Team
Hi
Where is sound files?
It is no possible to change it?
Unfortunately we (as a company) cannot direct users to the exact files of the sounds (they are embedded within the app file).
As we said, we plan to add the option of customizing Viber's sounds in future versions.
We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
Tanks, but .. why you need to doing embedded sound files in application !? I don't understand you ....
Come on viber we have been waiting a long timeeee

We are aware of this request, and it is certainly high on our check list of development for future versions.
Once we have news about this feature, we'll make sure to inform you.
It's still not there after a year...
Hi,
We have since added an option in Viber to use the phone's ringtone+vibration settings, and we can see our users find this feature very useful.
We will consider adding an option to completely customize Viber's sounds and vibration in the future.

It's really annoying to have viber sound for every chat message. All other messaging apps have disable notifications. Appreciate if you can disable sounds.

This is a known request, and we are considering to add such a feature in future versions of ours.
Meanwhile, we invite you to enter our Feature Request page and post your suggestion there, or join an existing similar suggestion. Unfortunately it is not possible for us to integrate every suggested feature into Viber, but the more people join on a request, the faster it will become reality

+1 on removing chat sounds. It's annoying that it beeps and boops when receiving and sending messages. Other than that is the best chat app I've used so far.
Can we stop the stupid 'beep beep' sound whenever we receive a msg in viber yet?
Why is it so freaking hard?

Yes. Running Viber 4.0.0 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 running stock JB 4.1.2. I already uncheck 'Use system sounds' and it still beeps whenever a msg came in...
What else do I need to do?
Thanks.
agree as well. I dont mind if i cant change the sound of notifications but it really bothers me that i cant turn it off . Its quite annoying especially of you are in a chat widow with many participants

and not just 'beep beep' when a msg comes in, it also 'beep beep' when I sent out a msg...
Beside that, more bugs:
-------------------------------
- after I quit Viber by options->exit, when a msg came in, it still beeped and gave notification. If I quit Viber, it means I don't want to receive/send anything and therefore I don't want 'beeps' and notifications. Please stop everything when I choose 'exit'.

@testrider -
This is the expected behavior from Viber at the moment. We see Viber as a "substitute" for your mobile service, meaning even if it's closed (using no RAM or bandwidth), it still remains available thanks to the C2DM service.
Viber's "exit" capability is relatively unique in the messaging space. Our statistics indicate that the vast majority of Viber users (well over 95%) never use this feature. In discussions with users about this feature we learned two things:
1. Those who wanted exit were typically "power users"
2. Overwhelmingly, the reason they wanted "exit" was not to become inaccessible but rather to make sure Viber does not consume any resources. Still, they expected Viber to be accessible even if they exit the app (via C2DM).
We believe the number of users that want to an exit feature that will turn off Viber completely represents an extremely small number of users - maybe 1 in 10,000 overall. As such, we do not believe adding an "exit and turn off notifications" feature is needed. It would merely serve to unnecessarily complicate the application. We are sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for, but we need to make sure that adding features that would make some happy would not hurt other users.
+1 for turn off notification sound!!
And I already posted request on your database.
if you use old version of viber app, to stop it to check/prompt for updates, add this to hosts file
Code:
127.0.0.1 www.cdn.viber.com
127.0.0.1 cdn.viber.com

Whats up guys, the other day i was searching this forum and I found an application that allowed you to set different sms notifications for different senders as well as email and a few other things and now I cannot find it for the life of me, anybody have the link to that thread? thanks
I've never heard of this but would be really cool to have on my Touch Pro, what device did you see it on before?

It wasn't an app, it was just an idea that someone came up. But it was never done. It was just an idea of development Although I don't think it's useful, but would love to see how they pull it out.
Different notifications TO YOU you mean?
What is the point?
Except if you mean auto reply to them (SMS or EMail) based on who they are.
CommManagerPro (you'll find it in XDA Devs) is adding this functionality in the next version (among other things).
Try Ringo. Its a WinMo software that enables you to set separate ringtones and SMS tones for each separate contact. The user interface is very very simple, it is a great application to have and use. Either try searching for it Google, or you might be able to find it on this forum using search.

No I meant like how you have custom ringtones for your contacts, I could have sworn I saw a thread with an app that allowed you to set custom SMS tones for your contacts instead of just one default SMS sound, but the other guy said it was just a concept for an application, :-(
Interesting idea.

For whatever reason, Viber just WON'T send me my access code! ><" Not even after I go to the "Get Code" part...ToT
edit: nevermind, I guess they just ran out of beta codes, so I'll most likely have to wait till they send me mine in the next few weeks.

Already did that, I have the APK and it installed fine. My problem is that my access code is never sent to me, hence I can't verify my account.
Hi everyone,
We (Viber) are just as excited as you are for our new beta.
We're thankful for your feedbacks, and hoping you are finding it useful!
A few messages and clarifications:
1. Although I'm following this thread, we would like to ask you to post all your technical issues and suggestions in our official Android webpage: blog.viber.com/viber-beta-support
2. For those who are not receiving the code or getting the error message saying they need to subscribe: the only way for you to successfully install our beta is to have subscribed, and wait for our official invitation email. Otherwise your email and number won't have been activated, thus you're blocked (we didn't want our .APK to simply be open to EVERYONE in the world). Please wait patiently. It might take up to a week, but you should eventually receive the email and use it freely.
3. If you haven't subscribed in the official way yet, you can still do it here and wait for our email: eepurl.com/bW1Ln
For other info or questions, I'm here!
Best regards,
Viber.
I registered even before december last year and didnt get a beta invite yet... so probably its still too early to get really excited, as there are thousands of people that registered later... especially over the last time.
Makes only sense of course if they send out the codes in the order as people registered.
EDIT:
I have to correct myself. i never got an invite email from viber, but using the email i used back then to subscribe i could register here http://www.viber.com/android-beta/ without any problems. i just had to try some email addresses as i didnt know anymore which one i used back then. I didnt recive a sms but the activation call worked without any problems.
So yeah, even if you didnt get an invitation mail it might work. And YES, i checked my spamfolder before!

Hi there.
Why do I see the Viber logo in the notification. Isn't there any possibility to turn it off?
I thought you receive your calls and messages through push notification?

I think thats kinda annoying too. if every running service would show an icon, there would be no space left...
As the service is always running in the background anyway, there is simply no need to show the symbol all the time.

Well i think we need that icon to see if the Viber Server in ONLINE or OFFLINE i like it !
I found a problem VIBER , when someone calls me when i try to Accept the call i have to touch the Accept button and wait a little then swipe it to right side, if i swipe immediately the call is Rejected and doesnt inform the other side (the caller) that i Rejected his call.

Thats kinda redundant, as you should safely assume that you are connected to viber as long as you have an online connection... if its usual that you cant connect to viber while having an online connection, it basically means the service isn't very reliable.
Just applied for both me and the missus. Hope we get in.

For me, the WhatsApp solution is way better. Even if I quit the app with ATK, I get my mails pushed. I don't even see Viber in ATK.
That's quite unacceptable for me.

if you quit the WhatsApp client, the WhatsApp service is still running... i dont get your point. Whats the problem with services running in the background anyway? As long as they are not eating up your battery which shouldn't be the case if they are properly programmed.
i mean as long as they dont eat up space in the notification bar

its gone in the newest beta! Thanks!
And i got an invitation mail to the beta today... a little bit late regarding i am using the beta already since last week. And it works really good for me... besides not deactivating the screen while calling (proximity sensor) but im sure they will fix this soon.
Ok, so I solved this. Not sure how the battery drain is, but this is what I did:
Installed the NULL ROM (not sure this is required, anyone can test this by just installing the unhacked bluetooth chat apps)
Hacked the BluetoothChat sample app to listen for notifications via AccessibilityService and send them and their contents over via chat
Hacked the BluetoothChat to move to foreground and sound a buzz when it gets a chat message from its peer
Installed hacked BluetoothChat app on both Nexus 7 and Galaxy Gear
Voila! Now when there is a notification on my Nexus 7, it sends it over to my Galaxy Gear which buzzes me. As a bonus, archived list of notifications are available in the chat history.
Anyways, this is just a POC. Improvements are to measure battery drain and if necessary find a way to better use BLE.
Cheers
Good for those who love the Gear but not the Galaxy.

That's a neat way of doing things, not tried this but maybe Tasker could be used to send messages to the watch over bluetooth when "stuff happens".
Then each user could change what they see on the watch..
Anyways, great stuff

Wow this sounds awesome, because I don't have any incoming notifications; I'm on Android 4.2 with non-Samsung phone paired.
Could you share the hacked app for me? I would live with it for a while since I am not going to have 4.3 upgrade soon,
Thanks!

Yeah, I'll see what the demand is like. Little nervous about sharing an apk that requires complete access to your accessibility, as it's a very big security loophole. If I do, I may only share the source code and ask folks to download eclipse and build it for themselves.
Another possibility is someone may carry the baton from here and do a less hacked version. If such a person is out there, I'd be happy to assist / collaborate. Little pressed for time unfortunately, but isn't everyone.
Version 1.4
Thank you very much all for your comments!

3- Added many minor features. Just try it and see
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 1.3
Thank you very much for your comments and feedback!
Changes are:
1- Supporting new devices. If you couldn't install it before, please try again.
2- Faster address book search
3- Faster Inbox access
4- Faster and better word suggestion
5- Several bug fixes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
Drextee Messenger for Android Wear is available for beta testing. It has a powerful word suggestion engine which makes typing faster and an error correction feature which makes correcting fat-finger errors easy.
Some of its other features are,
1- Receiving and sending SMS and email
2- Emoji support
3- Voice recognition option
4- Addressbook search
Demo: youtu.be/Bvlk3_4MOvA
You can download the app at play.google.com/apps/testing/com.idelan.drexteemessenger
We will appreciate it if you try it and submit your feedback at bit.ly/1iN8QOQ or post it here.
Note: if you can't download it, wait a few minutes and try again. Sometimes it takes a while for Google Play Store to add a new user.
it actually does work on a round face!
No hangouts support?
Well, not yet! But please stay tuned. We are going to release a new version soon. It will be more responsive and faster than current version and will
have a better word prediction engine.

For SMS notifications, if you tap on them, Drextee Messenger will open so you can reply to the message.
For email notifications, if you swipe from right to left, you will see several options for deleting, archiving, and replying. If you tap on the reply icon, Drextee Messenger will open.
Did the app stop working every time you tapped on the notification?

Yes, the app stops as soon as I tap on the notification.
Also, an option to mark the message as read will be handy, my phone light indicator will keep blinking if I dismiss the message. Having this "read" option will address this, just like the native messaging app that comes with the watch.
Also, one suggestion: relocate or make the numeric/symbol key bigger. I can't seem to be able to press it on my urbane. Perhaps you can add it as a long press option on the space key, or add it to the settings sub-menu

Version 2.2.1 is available now! It now supports Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Viber and whatsApp too.
Hi there, big fan of the app.. Any possibility to mark the sms as read ?
Every time I answer or read the sms from my watch, the notification do disappear from notification center, however, it is still marked as unread in the sms application which will therefore display an indicator meaning that some message are not read....

Hi Aanze,
Unfortunately, that's not possible. Since Android 4.4, only the default SMS app can mark a message in the SMS inbox as read. Because of this, your default SMS app
thinks that you haven't read the message.

Hey guys, I've recently switched over to a Nexus 6 from a Note 4, and have run into an issue with sending text messages under Marshmallow. I often send a reminder text to a good-sized group of people, and when I send it I get a warning from Android that Textra is sending a large number of messages. It then asks if I want to allow or deny the messages. I'd like to disable this behavior, but all of the instructions I've found on how to do so are for older versions of Android and don't work under Marshmallow.
So, any ideas of how to disable this behavior? I'm unlocked and rooted, just don't know where to look...Thanks for any help you can offer!

If you look at the popup there is an option to never show this again. Check that. Other then that it cant be gotten around. It is an anti spam/Security measure set in by google.
EDIT - Misread the OP.
It looks like I may have cracked the code on this issue and found a solution for my device.
Here's what has worked for me on my Galaxy S4 running a custom AOSP Rom. I don't know if this works on the nexus 6. Try this!
1.) Download Terminal Emulator or some other Terminal App
2.) Open Terminal app and grant SU either by prompt or by typing "su" as a command
3.) After SU access is acquired in Terminal Emulator/app type:
settings put secure sms_outgoing_check_interval_ms 0
4.) Reboot!
Let me know if this works for you!
It will still be blocked by the carrier as it is a 2 step deal. First the device blocks it and then the carrier also flags large amounts as spam. We had the same issue and had to go to a messaging app to get around the limit.

Some carriers may block it but AT&T does not. I was using a CM ROM that had it unlocked and I've been sending messages to 200 people at a time. This mod is now working for me on ROMs that do not have it unlocked. YMMV

If it is working then their spam blocker is not working as it should. The blocker was added a few years ago when I was working for ATT and we had to explain it to business users about the limit and advised them to switch to a messaging program.

In that case, I am glad they are not using their spam blocker! I've been using unlocked CM ROMs for years which has allowed me to send broadcast messages to my 200+ member sales team. This mod is now allowing me to use a locked AOSP ROM that I've wanted to use for a very long time. After unlocking sms, I can now send as many messages as I want without getting that annoying pop-up warning. WIN!

hey I tried this on boost mobile and ran into the carrier block. I talked to customer service, I even talked to some pretty knowladgable guys who said he was "heavy programming" to get my sms working lmao. my question to you is two fold.
is there any way to get the carrier to disable the spam filter?
what do you mean when you say messaging program?
thanks in advance

You can ask but they will most likely deny that it is there or just flat out refuse. It is a security thing and thankfully it is in place or we would have spamming sms like the rest of the world does.
As for a messaging program I mean something like Telegram, hangouts or something of that nature.

Unfortunately, it looks like the method I posted is not actually working. Messages sent above 30 were not actually being sent. Oh well... back to using my custom CM 13 based ROM that has increased the sms limit to 200 per minute. It's not totally unlocked but at least I can send more than 30 messages at once without being annoyed by the confirmation prompt. Bummer!
Anyone found a solution to this issue ?

Unfortunately, the only real solution I've found is to use a ROM that provides an option to increase or eliminate the SMS limit.
Use Allo, Skype, or Viber. Text message is a dying race anyway.

Unfortunately, unlike text messaging, those apps require everyone to use the same app.

That depends on where you live. In the states sms is still very widely used unlike the apps you mentioned.

If your device is supported, try flashing a custom ROM like Team OctOS (this is the one I'm using) or Cyanide M which has the limit removed.
This seems fairly odd that there wouldn't be a fix for Marshmallow... I mean, if a custom ROM can implement it, why couldn't a code edit somewhere resolve the issue? I understand that it could be limited on the carrier side, but speaking as someone who likes to occasionally mess with friends using an sms bomber on Verizon, I don't think they do THAT much limiting... Other carriers obviously might be different. Still, I don't understand why it can't be resolved at the phone level at least.

I am currently using another custom ROM created by @side called Optimized CM13 for the Samsung Galaxy S4 where he also removed the SMS limit. Maybe he can provide some answers to your questions. I agree it would be nice if there were an easy way to remove the limit on any ROM you chose.
