I am chatting on this #mobile room at mIRC that's all about firefox for winmo and they told me that firefox milestone will be release next week and firefox alpha at the end of february. Hope it's a full browser. We can follow on this at planet.mozilla.org and they're weekly meetings at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Notes.
Exciting! I am looking for something much better than the current bloated (looking) Opera and the horrible IE..
Yeah, it's about time firefox enter the winmo world.
here's hoping for a good release that has at least half a brain cell worth of customization. most of these interfaces are made with right handers in mind and I'm left handed.
someone leaked a beta but it crashes like hell

Yeah is not stable yet...
So.. does it exist a stable firefox version for wm6.5?

Not yet. They're working on Fennec, but they're only up to Alpha 3. You can try Fennec Alpha 3, but it's still pretty unstable, and mostly unusable for daily browsing.
They've been working on Mobile Firefox for years, Fenecs just the lastest. I wouldn't hold my breath on its release being anywhere near as good as the other browsers available.
No mobile browser uses Gecko because its too bulky and unsuited to low-memory devices. Firefox on PC has more leaks than a seive, and on a device with about 30mb RAM at any given time, its no surprise that they've always suffered from running out of memory or crashing because a component was removed. It needs to be rewritten, not adapted.
check my name !lol actually im a big fan of Firefox !
isnt fennac only for NOKIA internet tablet now
nevermind i saw it.. alpha 3 now.. btw does it compress data like oepra mini?

Hey folks, many of you will have heard of the iris browser when it was first announced at first release it was pretty poor, just downloaded the latest test version though and must say im quite impressed the biggest flasw is the lack of a overview zoom like opera mini.
It renders pages fairly quick though using webkit and is worth a spin and prob keeping an eye on over the coming months.

Hello all!
Please excuse me if this has been told already, i know alot of winmo 6.5 threads floating but i haven't had a chance to surf around since i've been moving and my internet won't be up till the end of the month (bastards!)
I was at an event at work today, there was a microsoft rep that had a raphael with winmo 6.5 fully working..
Seems to be pretty slick from playing with it for about 20-30 minutes
I know the touch pro 2 will be shipping with this pre-installed.
Black bars seem to be installed, the main screen offers features of an "overview" style and when you hit the windows button you get the honeycomb that i'm sure you've seen screenshots of. I'm asking to see if they can swing me the beta copy but i know it is only internally microsoft.
Wanted to confirm that winmo 6.5 for raphael and TP2 will be available!
Once again- sorry if this has been covered already.
Yeah... There are WM6.5 roms and kitchens you can download for the Touch Pro. Been out for a while now
I'm waiting for the final release, I just can't take the risk of running beta OS on my phone (Even if it is WinMo 6.5)
Yeah sorry like i said, haven't been given access to internet and xda for a while - saw it today as an official release for raphael beta tested by them.
My fault!
you totally should of "barrowed" his phone and ripped the os off and uploaded it... would of made it a lot easier to port haha
That's interesting to hear that Microsoft has 6.5 working on the Raphael without the need of xda developers. I thought an official 6.5 ROM from Microsoft wasn't going to be released for the TP1?
the latest build 21189 is very much considered stable. i haven;t found any fault with them after running for a week with all my daily applications like GPS,Wifi or bluetooth. camera is usable and even the 7MPX panaroma hack for tp camera works. although tf3d is not stable on it, u'll grow to love the new chome platform of the new wm6.5...to be honest, i won;t think of going back to tf3d.
According to this article at engadget, phones currently on the market (as of Feb 16) will not get an official 6.5 update:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/16/microsoft-announces-windows-mobile-6-5/
That's cool you got your hands on a WM6.5 raphael though, hope they do decide to release it!
i have 6.5 on mine. i dont really consider it beta since it doesnt say beta. i think its more early build. there are really recent builds of 6.1 and i dont think you can tack labels like beta or final or release candidate on them because they are not pay for or anything and they are constantly having newer versions. it may not be announced or preloaded on new phones yet but its here, has all the features, and its quite stable.

Opera 9.7 has great improvement on speed and rendering, but why it is not included in recent rom to replace the old one?
I've been including it in my own roms for a few weeks..
works fine.

Agree. But we cant expect perfect softwares. Even the old 9.5 is buggy in some ways. Manila 2.5 is very buggy as well, but it is now included in many different roms.
And the reason why these kind of software is being used is because more and more users are being fooled that newer AND BUGGY means better.

I can't agree with this. All we know that custom ROMs are buggy .. they all have different bugs.. here and there... but we enjoy using them.

Dont forget that 9.5 is a beta too. The last stable version of opera mobile is 8.6 or something

like ?
Just want to try some thing different
if you are using QVGA and western language only, skyfire is another option. But it is no better than opera in backstone as it uses pixel doubling.
THanks for the links but there is nothing for what i asked
Over wifi I really like the latest version of Iris Browser, over slow gprs I like netfront 3.5 preview (on simple view mode) Although Netfront is an acquired taste, it really is a tweakers browser, there's a lot of settings to play with...
Just curious. Please share your thought.
Quite smooth. Apart from a second of lag when application is just launched. No flash.

Stock ics browser seems to have better performance.
(on chinese release)
chrome beta- nice ui
buttery smooth
but no user-agent option
no flash support
no exit button in menu
One force close otherwise works on the Chinese leak. I like the tabs.
I like Chrome more than the stock browser. The way it zooms subtly when filling in entries, etc. This should have been the stock browser for Android.
installed it. quite good actually. but the adblock software does not work on it. doesn't help if you are on a limited bandwidth subscription from your carrier.
i'll stick with it, otherwise opera mini for those websites that are 'blocked' by my carrier.
It's been an amazing experience and chrome beta works smooth... There is nt much lag also and quite fun...
Lots of feedback!
I am jealous. I didn't tried the first ICS leak. Waiting for standard leak!
I find Chrome Beta to be better than the Chinese stock browser, mostly because it looks good. Speed wise it might be a bit slower though, but not by much. I like how it zooms into some tricky areas where a lot of links are confined into a small space(Page index for example)
Im loving chrome browser. I have no complaints. Dont have to worry about losing bookmarks and such now and its extremely smooth.

i have tried but to be honest i didnt like. I prefer opera mobile browser
