Hi all, has anyone noticed that the Connection Wizard seems to kick in whilst UC/SDConfig is running?
Tends to make the whole thing hang/loop. I waited for around an hour after flashing yesterday and it didn't complete. Both with Dutty's and Laurentius's ROMs.
The only workaround I have found is to flash without the storage card, then once booted & the Connection Wizard has run, is to replace the sd card, set the SDautorun flag to 0 (in teh registry) and start SDAutorun.exe
Anyone else have this & are the chefs aware (and of other more elegant workarounds?)
Thanks
lol, anyone?

After a long frustrating period using my BA (search for my previous posts) I have can finally make it do what I needed - thanks loads all you smart people doing this stuff!
I was able to figure everything by reading the website plus a little trial and error so those of you frustrated like I was - don't give up!
While I had many minor complaints, the worst one was that the phone would at various times suddenly lose reception and require a soft reboot. I would go hours without realizing it and then get in trouble because I wasn't reachable.
My last attempt at upgrading resulted in a week with the newest radio but a dead BB client.
This time was different.
The improved software here and the different downloadable roms really made things better this time. It still cost me about a day and a half but that included testing WM5 which worked but has no Blackberry client.
Starting with the standard German T-Mobile latest ROM, I was sucessful with the following:
- DLd the newest NL T-Mob ROM "BA_TMNL_14200_115_11300_Ship"
- Pressed reset/off/record to get into the rom loader screen
- DLd and used "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe" to upload the ROM
- DLd and used "xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB" & "Repart_DOC.exe" to remove unwanted cabs in the ext mem, and to reduce the size of ext mem to free up for other functions
- After unlocking EXT mem, copied everything I wanted to the hard drive and resized the EXT mem.
- On rebooting the phone said yes to the error message about deleting everything in EXT mem because it was corrupted.
- Copied the cabs I kept back into the (now smaller) ext mem
- Hard reset and now only the stuff I want installs.
End Result:
- Blackberry works well (number one priority)
- The phone hasn't once required a reboot in 24 hours
- WLAN works better (longer range, easier switching between GPRS &
- newest version of WM2003
- newest BB client
- Everything is in English
One small problem: the German keyboard is still not configured correctly despite DLing and installing the appropriate cab. No big deal, I think I like the keyboard better this way.
I would be happy to help anyone else having problems with blue angel, MDA-III, VPA, Qtek9090, etc.
i new to this whole pocket pc thing, and i found this site and started upgrading my t-mobile mda. first i upgraded the rom to the k-jam upgrade and everything worked fine. then i started messing with the registry with registry wizard. that was fine also. but as soon as i hit the edge icon tweak, i can no longer connect to gprs. i get a msg saying
"Cannot connect. make sure your phone is turned on, or tap settings to check your connection settings. "
can anyone help me. i didnt alter the settings from when it was working so im unsure of what the problem is. any help is greatly appreciated
sounds like ou ahve been doing a fair amount of tweaking. Even in the registry. Are you sure it was the Edge icon tweak that did it as my Cingular 8125 is running 2.16.9.1WWE and I have made that change and mine works fine. My wonder is if one of the previous changes didn't take affect until a reload or a new program load, and that is what actually caused the problem. I loaded some cingular cabs yesterday and it broke activesync.

yah i know. but even after i restored my original registry settings i still cannot connect. when i try to connect, the window that shows gprs is trying to connect flashes 2x then it reads the msg i posted. any ideas
none here... I hope someone else can help, or you can hard reset and try to do the changes slowly soft reset a couple of times after each change until you figure out which one cased it. Each change including installed programs.
Sorry
mine does the same thing and I have been able to get it to connect without reset. Tap your signal bar on screen and turn on flight mode than turn off it will reset connections. It happens after every sync or charge for me and once we are able to unlock the cid and install the cing ext rom it might go away.
i actually just got rid of the program and it works now
Hi all, first can i give a big thanx to all on here who have contributed and made it possible for me to use my trinity again after an awful "upgrade" to an LG Renoir, may it rest in peices.
After following all the relevant steps my old Trinity is now working a treat so i thought i'd post and mention some of the possible pitfalls that a complete noob like me might have to deal with.
First was error 260 that i read quite a lot about but could not fix. having followed the relevant steps for using Vista to upgrade, including updating the USB driver i kept getting error 260. This was easily fixed eventually by using all the same cables and ROMS and radio version by using a PC running XP instead.
If you want to update your radio version, as i did to get GPS back working, i copied the relevant radio RUU_signed.nbh file to a FAT32 formatted card and renamed it trinim.nbh and inserted the card in to the phone. The update started automatically, finished, the phone reset and hey presto, new radio and working GPS.
Eventual;ly i had an unlocked Trinity working with an O2 SIM card but could not use the internet or push e-mail as i didn't know what settings i had to change or where to change them. After a phone call to O2 they told me as they didn't sell the phone they didn't support it and wouldn't give me any idea of the settings i needed. A quick internet search and i found a little app, i think on Modaco, that once you have your phone connected via ActiveSync you just run and select the network you want, all the usual suspects are there, and it updates your phone settings automatically.
All i need now is a new battery, charging every 6 hours is getting boring, and i'm good to go.
Sorry if this is long winded but for a complete noob, as i am, some times you need it like that.
Thanks again
Steve

Hi,
Over the weekend, my Kaiser starting giving the error message that it was running low on memory, and i suspect that it was due to downloading large files and the system cache filling up.
I tried ClearTemp and MemAid to regain space and it was a temporary fix.
How ever last night my Today screen was not displaying correctly (only showing HTC Home) and a SPB Wireles icon citing that both Phone Alarm and SPB Wireless were unsigned and incorrect parameters.
I decided to check my 8gb MicroSD to reinstall the applications but virtually all data on it was erased (except for the files in use on the today screen) It was only half full.
I cant even access the settings page to modify my Today screen as the 'settings button is no longer there.
Has anyone experienced this and / or know of a fix. I prefer to exhaust all avenues before i hard reset and build it back again.
thanks in advance for your input.
Dear friend,
your situation looks very complicated. I have never faced such a problem, but I am aware of some similar problems....but those problems are very rare, though.
First of all you need to do some back up if you can and format your memory card on your PC.
Then find some good ROM,I suggest a non modified, stock ROM and flash your device.
I know this can be frustrating, but this is the only way to get your device to work again.
Although I do not know what exactly did you do before that problem appeared, the solution is very simple...new ROM.Stock HTC ROM would be the best.
Let me know if I was helpful.
Best regards,
Alexander.
Thanks, I ended up having to hard reset.
I have currently defaulted to the stock Aus3 Rom but am looking at trying the the WM6.1 Aus3 rom, or even a cooked rom!
It will depend how much time i have to try and fix things if it goes pear shaped again! I dont want to Brick my phone!
Hello,
I had some freezes on bootloader.
Searching a solution on this forum, I updated my Kaiser 130 with a 3.29hard2 patched HSPL. I installed the PDACorner v8 rom, set my all stuff and made a backup with SPB Backup 2.
Since this time, every day, my Kaiser lose the contacts, the programs and calendar. The settings still remain. It happens while my ppc is USB connected to my PC, some hours after a sucessfull synchronization.
After each "crash", I restore the full system and settings with SPB backup.
Today, I thought the problem was on my Activesync 4.5. So, I removed it, reboot my PC and install Activesync again. I removed the activesync's settings on my PPC and launched a new partnership with synchronization.
But my PPCfinally "crashed" some hours after.
I hope you can really help me.
I tried HSPL 3.29hard2 and 3.34 ; radio 1.71 and 1.70 ; PDAcorner V8 rom and some others ; without success.
Greetings.
Restoring full setting might be a problem! What OS was your backup and what OS are you restoring it to?
I forgot to mention that.
Of course, I only used my backup on the same OS it was made.
Clearly, I didn't use the SPB backup's possibility to restore my settings on an updated or different rom.
The crazy thing is that the first synchronization is succesful and that my PPC seems to run normally until it crashes.
After each crash, I need to hard reset my Kaiser to reboot normally again (with all items in programs, Start, etc.)
I don't remember if I tried to set my all stuff manually instead of restoring with SPB. In fact, I'm just doing this try since this afternoon and all seems OK at the moment.
some bad news
I was trying my Kaiser's stability since yesterday afternoon, after a hard reset and without a SPB backup.
This morning I was thinking the problem was due to the restore of SPB.
But my PPC just crashes. So I have to search a new explanation.
Thanks for your help
strange... i have the same problem.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i'm not alone !!!!!!!!
sorry... and welcome to my club !
Actually I have the following roms on the Kaiser :
- SPL 3.34
- radio 1.71.09.01
- PDA Corner V8 (win 6.1)
and Activesync 4.5 on the PC.
My ppc crashed so frequently during the last days that Activesync is totally lost with the two partnerships it can manage. I tried to completely uninstall this soft two days ago, but without success... for the Kaiser's stability, I mean.
I have to mention that I only attempted to create partnerships with the same PC, my work's one. Tomorrow I will connect the ppc only for synchronization instead of the usual all the day's connection.
Are your crash's conditions similar with mine ?
similar issues
i have had similar issues, I never worked out what was causing it exactly... it happens if i sync with active sync and even worse i have lost my whole sd card once (it's ok i backup, phew). I assumed i had caused the problem by using advanced config to move some of the basic file storage and caching to the sd card. in the end i have switched to Google sync for my contacts and calender and use Bluetooth to transfer files between pc and ppc. I had initially also thought it had something to do with sprite back up, so i had stopped using it. wondering if you have moved cache and default file locations too? cos maybe active sync has an issue with this (maybe a delay writing to the sd card?) jst speculating really. since i switched to google sync i dont have a use for active sync at all....

No, I didn't.
I usually only change minor settings (regional settings, owner informations, ringtone, etc.) after a flash or a hard reset.
I made backup to speed up my ppc's customization, especially since crashes happened more and more frequently (ppc was under non patched HSPL 3.56).
I really think that two problems are chaining in my case. The first was my Kaiser's instability, due to the couple HSPL & TPCElite rom, which caused a great shake in my partnerships. The second is due to Activesync, I think, but I don't have any evidence at this time.
So, I just made two synchronizations today.
I have disconnected my Kaiser after each one.
And the ppc didn't crash again.
Hey guys,
Just moved this over to kaiser general, Wanted to keep the rom dev section a bit cleaner since this isn't really related to rom development.
Peace,
Josh
Joshkoss :
Sorry, I firstly thought my problem was a rom's one.
Finally, it appears that my crashes became from my PC's connection even I don't know why.
So, you are right !
This post shall not stay in rom section anymore.
