its the same as for the xperia..becuase that one says it for the Herald?

winmophone is winphophone.
it works the same for all devices.
edit: forget what i just wrote

but in the Dump .nb and .bin....which option do i select? it says to select option 1 for Hermes...but i dont have a hermes, so which option do i select?

I posted, no more than 5 days ago a link to a thread on the blackstone forum that told you exactly how to cook a rom.
Link is also in the X1 Wiki

Based on my recent experience i would say you are just gonna have to search and search and try and fail. I'm still having issue porting newer XIP and SYS's but u just gotta stick with it. A WHOLE LOT OF SEARCHING TOO!!!! Everything you need is on here (i know ur gonna hate reading that) you just have to do a lot of searching and googling and trying. It really helps if u start from a stock ROM so u can see how its decompresses and its structure. We will help as much as we can.. Good Luck.

Did you see anything missing in the thread on the blackstone forum? I thought it was really thorough.
How to Cook Roms
Okay there's plenty of people ask about cooking roms.
There's a good thread started on the Blackstone forums to teach it. It'll work as well for X1 as for the HD.

I didn't see that when i was searching around but i saw that a lot of tutorials just don't work. I used a couple tutorials to port the XIP and SYS and none of them worked. I finally just dumped someone's ROM and tried to build packages and tried to see which SYS folders needed to be moved over. Although that is failing now lol... That is the only thing that i didn't see in the thread that you posted was how to port the XIP and SYS. Maybe i just missed it i kinda just glanced.

have you tried bepe's package rebuilder? it's not bad at all.

Yea i've used that but i can never get the SYS port to function correctly. I think i keep forgetting a step or something cause its apparent i got it to work once For the XIP port i just xipportex. That is like the greated thing since sliced bread

New Kitchen - Pandora Variant - Problems with NBSplit...

I'm trying to port over the Pandora kitchen from the Hermes to the Herald, but I'm running into a problem with the scripts it uses to build the ROM. I just realized... I should go home and check the scripts that Hypercore uses to see if they have the answers... lol
Anyways, I'm having a problem with the splitting and merging of the nb files. I thought I finally had it figured out but I don't... I'm not home right now so I can't post the code, but I was wondering if anyone had successfully used the NBSplit, NBMerge and all the imgfsTools with the Herald?
Thanks in advance!
you dont need to do so, those tools are in hypercore, and are a part of the package.
I cant even begin to understand why you wanna start on doing that.
But if you must, then you must...

I don't want to do anything. I was just going through all the scripts and was just updating them to work with the Herald. When I get home, I'll read through all the HyperCore scripts.
It's a BuildOS kitchen: "Choose the program you want and then click on build" type of thing.
BTW, I gotta note, not one person has been very supportive of my efforts doing this... except for the Pandora kitchen maker himself... *sigh*
Kinda discouraging. (The only thing keeping me away from HyperCore originally was the lack of a "clean" ROM to start with. When I finally got comfortable with it, I realized that it'd be nice to have a simple way of making "quick" ROMs for people who didn't have the time to figure it all out.
dude good luck to you. more people working with the herald just make it better. there aren't that many custom roms it has to speak of. i hope that you are successful and I can't wait to test it out when it's done!
Thanks.
I got past that error I was having and I'm pretty much ready, except that I still don't have a clean ROM to start out with. I'm still working on that one. And I still have to add certain packages. I won't know if it works until I can get a clean ROM to work on, though.

What do you mean by a "clean ROM"? Can't you use an official HTC base ROM?

I can't believe I never thought about that... LOL
Well, I still need to know what the differences are between the herald and the atlas. I was trying to use a wing rom and clean that up, but MAN, tmobile clutters up that rom... when I get home, I'll do just that. I still need to know what the differences are so that I can create different configurations to choose from in the kitchen... (Touch-IT's itje... Hear my call. lol)

ROM Cooking First Time - I HAVE SEARCHED and searched...

Hi,
Please could someone point me in the right direction on a tutorial/guide on how to use KovskyKitchen? If there isnt one at the moment then please let me know.
Furthermore could someone let me know how to rip/extract the baseROM from a UK Vodafone X1. I am completely new to this game but would like to make my X1 as lean as possible (really how I see fit), do worry I HAVE SEARCHED THE FORUMS but cant seem to find a definitive guide.
Cheers,

There isn't one for X1. But you could read the guide for kitchen for other device (Touch pro, kaiser ...etc) since all are basically the same.
Basically, you need to put the extracted nbh file in /baserom and run the command the to extract.
Or maybe you could try mine or itje's lite/clean rom to save yr time.
searched and searched but didn't bother reading a couple of threads down on here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446382&page=2
to dump the rom you need itse rom tools and run pdocread.
if you type rom dump into the google search at the top it tells you how to do it.
I have dumped the vfuk rom, but the 4 raw files are even at maximum compression 250mb+ so I haven't had time to post them
When you have the 4 raw parts you stick one of the base ruu_signed.nbh roms that are already on this forum and put part2 & part3 raw files in the base rom folder of the kovsky kitchen, as said here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446382
Thanks for the advice, but...
Hi,
Thanks for the links fards.
Please could you describe to me what a nbh file is?
What does it do and where can I get one from?
Does this come from the ROM dump?
Thanks,
Phil

Just curious, but do you have any experience flashing ROMs yet? I have owned 3 XDA's and flashed many ROMs so I know a lot about the ROMs SPL's and such. Thats something you should be knowledgeable in. I am thinking about getting into cooking too now.
A nbh file is a ROM. The nbh is the product of your cooking, and the nbh is what you put into the RUU to flash to your device. You can get it from a ROM dump or you can download it from others.
It's always a good idea to just download the tools, start them up and take a look around. See what options are available and get familiar with them. From there start asking questions. It's a bit hard to answer if you're basically saying "tell me everything".

you're learning fast
all ive ever done is read the other device tutorials and had a play, although i did prefer the hypercore kitchen on the athena to the kovsky/kaiser based one.
but it does the job especially with the really neat options.xml generator
I am starting to learn to cook roms, does the HyperCore work for xperia? what kind of dump should i select? normal OS.bin (option 3)?

X1 Chef's Develop & Share Center

Not a big deal this thread, its not a protest agains any "recent happenings"
I just wish to start a (mainly) X1 development place where we (developers and chefs for x1) can help eachother out.
Im am soon to share all my kitchen packages, inlcuding my kitchen (some trix im keeping, but not packages or files) and I hope thats a direction we all can go.. but I will respect those who dont agree, and I I hope those who decide to work with me on this, wont judge those who dont want to either.
Also I would like that when we get stuff from this thread, we give credits to those who contributed to solve the problems.
I will ofcourse kick in help on other ppls projects if I am able...
I WILL DELETE NON TOPIC POSTS. IF YOU HAVE NOTHING OF VALUE TO SAY, PLEASE DONT POST HERE.
cheers
My contribution for now:
Packages from Rhodium
All is setup for Bepes Platformrebuilder, so if you use another kitchen, then theese wont work, you will have to convert to standard oem packages.
I have to much work on my hands to convert them, so I hope those who do convert to standard packages, will upload them here.

my roms aint protected so feel free to use all files..
have a blast at the party.
I want to share my Manila OEM package. This package is about 1000 files smaller than the common version and has a patched ManilaToday.dll (thx fireball2k) which almost solves the right softkey bug. It makes your rom cleaner and you have some mb more space. It´s working only on WWE rom versions.

bugger!!!!
you got the dialer in RC2 don't you?
as it says conference call!

Thanks. Work great.
hi all,
I recently bought myself an X1, and want to start cooking
i develope hardware and sofware for a living.
To become a chef, I first need to know some basics. is there any good wiki where de structure is explained?
Maybe someone can help me to get the HTC Fingermenu to run. This my current package status, it doesn´t work for me.
http://rapidshare.com/files/207108444/Fingermenu.rar.html
@smaberg
I´ve managed to get the dialer working except some links and the conferrence call
I can unfortunatly not share the dialer package at the moment, I promised that I would not share it just yet, if not.. I would not have gotten it...
But, its not the dialer I recieved wich "worked out of the box" because mine package works with rc2 also. So there are more to it then just release the packages, I need to figure out what makes this stuff "tick" before I release the packages I made myself.
I am gonna share the stuff I got, but I cant share what I got from my source...I hope you guys understand this...
Ofcourse I can share my old packages, but they dont work the correct way yet...
I know that many thinks that why cant I just release them and say its my fixed ones?..but that would not be fair to my friends who shared their work with me
If I was to release them now, it would be nice for all im sure, but then I would cut of a tie to a friend, and I would also loose a good developer that can help out if I need assistance in future projects...
I feel a bit sad that I cant upload it just yet, but I will do what I can to give you guys good packages to work with.
thx for understanding

dont look in the dialer package, you need more packages from topaz that is not rebuild with regsettings from blackstone...you need the correct settings, and some dll's, but, read my previous post on this

Thx,
I can fully understand your arguments. But I´m more interested in getting the Fingermenu working. May you help me there? I´ve attached the oem package for that in the previous post I guess there is a package, file or whatever to get this working are you allowed to release the secret just for the fingermenu? Any little advise

I will look into it, there are some basic files that is needed by most of the new stuff, so I will check it and have a look
edit, you are missing most of the files...or you might have them in other packages..and regsettings are under 50% of what is needed..for now I can say wich files, but you need to look for the regsettings yourself (sorry cant do better right now)
CALIBRI.TTF
EmailMenuEnhancement.dll
htcDutils.dll
HTCUtil.dll
ResProxy.dll
FileUpload.dll
HTCScroll.dll
ResLoader.dll
I had those myself in my package, but I didnt have all the correct regsettings...
Hope it helps
here is full ORIGINAL Rhodium keyboard (not from the infamous duttydump)
its not modded in any way..
OEM Rhodium
Thanks for your help, I will see what I can do

Ok thanks, and as you know im working on the 6.5 release right now, and i got the dialer to work on boot, but when resetting or restart it wont work anymore, and as you said ill guess half the regsettings are missing as the menu thingi wont work proper either. its a damn shame...
by the way, my 6.5 package will be released puplic as i wont protect it. it mush faster with new touchflo than the old 6.1 -go figure, damn micrsh...
but ill respect you and your source (i wont meantion his name here)
but how long do you think before release? i really need it for my 6.5 release... if i cant get it to work myself, i think i got all the files needed, maybe a few missing.
Phonecanvas here

can someone provide even a simple list of files of new fingermenu? I need only for my "green" purposes
Hi,
have a look at page 1, I postet the OEM package for this
@itje
thx for the dialer
thanks itje for the dialer

thank you I missed it

Touch-IT v5.04 + MyFaves bug discussion

First of all, is anyone running T-Mobile USA, Touch-IT v5.04, and the MyFaves .cab having problems?
For reasons above my understanding, my phone will not connect to the MyFaves system. It just says "updating MyFaves" indefinitely. My online management says that it is waiting for my phone to respond, so something isn't connecting between the phone and the MyFaves on the T-Mobile network.
I couldn't find a solution in the 100+ pages of the Touch-IT v5.xx thread, so I'm hoping that someone with an answer can help here.
My bugs:
1. MyFaves MUST be set to "Display: off" or else it will not display properly (must go into the registry to force it up)
2. Changing the display mode will force the home tab and people tab off TF3D
3. Will not get past "Updating MyFaves". Obviously not properly connecting to the MyFaves system.
My install method:
1. Flashed Touch-IT v5.04
2. Installed the provided MyFaves .cab to device (as opposed to storage card)
3. Corrected the registry entry to force the MyFaves display up (as instructed in the Touch-IT v5.xx thread)
Maybe akp99 can help you
He made the cab.
You must understand that this is from a beta version of a USA T-Mobile Rom.
So we don't no if it works.
Maybe you can do some testing together with akp99
I've encountered the same behavior and only to be told, "it's been discussed"... A solution within the discussion would be perfect. Yes, I understand it beta and whatnot, but we CAN have our cake and eat it too. ;D
Well as this is designed to work on T-mob contracts then it's a bit tricky to work out what's happening when you're not on a t-mob system.
This is why I haven't bothered trying to get it to work, as there's no way I can test it, but I presume there must be some way that T-mob is checking your device to see whether you are entitled to use it. I guess the key will be to work out how they are checking that?
Looking at Akps cab I'd say he might have left out voxsync.exe as it's called by the NAB..
I'll cab up the entire NAB and see if that helps? Be aware looking at the Reg files this may well stuff up your SMS all over again as there's a hook like the jblend one.....
Okay here it is, I don't know exactly where the files go as the only reference I can find is to two files in /windows/voxmobili/voxsyncsync so that's where I've dumped them.
If this doesn't work, then try copying all the files to /windows from that folder as well.
This isnt itjes rom
I have tried to remidy this for along time and got barely any support.
the only solution to make my faves work for me was to cook my own rom.
using the same builds as itje except for any r3 oem packages my roms worked perfect with my faves. It actually updates your faves while its going through the first initial rom boot install.
heres my pic.
I was planning on releasing the rom but didnt know if there were any fellow my faves users. as all my posts in the rom thread were lost and ignored. i was helped by the cab creator but no real help from itje.
I made a touchpro2 port to 6.5 as in the picture, i have a 6.1 build but its missing some packages as i was figuring out the myfaves.

everything is in windows. except for the custom icons found from tmo those are my documents/my icons and i dont have nab cooked in or even installed.
So it looks like myfaves works better when cooked instead of installed via .cab?
I don't know, in theory it should be able to be added after 1st boot. so a cab should work
theres something either missing or not configured right.
shadowmike, it seems very odd that the nab isn't there in the cooked rom, as its called directly from the reg for myfaves
ill look later on at the packages in jerpeleas kitchen.
Had a look at the kitchen you used and the Nab files are there, are you sure you didn't cook them in?
there's a provxml that contains some certificates that are missing, you can try this through advanced config (but it may not work as it's a big file, but unzip it and give it a try).
I'm trying to make a cab from it (that's a first for me, a provxml into a winmo cab using linux!) but not got it right yet, so the other method might be better..
Absolutely no reason why it shouldn't - while it's not 100% there are plenty of other instances of standalaone MyFaves cabs working. Will also take a look later...

What kitchen are you using? I know joshkoss has a kitchen here, his kitchen is real simple to use. Do a search using the link in my sign.
JOSH kittchen is the best for me.. but not visual things.. also is not but for me..
just put what you need in correct folder and thats all
if you don't want something just delete it so simple..
