Reactivate after being in "sleep mode" - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi
When my HTC remains inactive for 5min or more its programed to go into sleep mode.
to "re-awaken" the phone i have to press the power button on the right side off the phone.
Can I assign the awake button to another button on the front of the phone? The power button is tiny and sunk in and I have to fumble around to turn it on.
The motorola touch phone i was using prior to HTC would reactivate from sleep mode when i touched the screen, Is there a way to get a similar result on the HTC?
Thanks in advance

Disable device lock after powering up?

After several minutes of inactivity, my Tytn II powers off normally. When I want to use it again, I press the power button. This powers on my device, but it is locked. I need to press the left soft-key and press "unlock" before I can start using my device again.
Is there any way to disable this? I want to start using the device immediately after pressing the power button.
I think the power button is difficult to press as it is, so there is little chance it will be accidentally pressed in the pocket. So, if we set the key-lock to "lock all buttons except power button", it should be safe.
MY MISTAKE...
The culprit was the Battery Status plugin. There is an option to devicelock after wake-up that was checked. Maybe I accidentally checked it as I had this plugin before on my Xda2 then prophet and now the TyTn II and never experienced this before... Thot it was a "new feature" on the TyTn...

Sleep Wake-up with every button

On my Tilt, EVERY BUTTON [except left, right, up, down, and select] will cause it to WAKE-UP from sleep mode.
How can I prevent this???
I would like just the OK button to wake up my device.
Thank you

I've never seen anything that allows this.. It's the four hard buttons (2 phone/win/ok) and power, or just the Power button.
It's in the Key Lock preference under System.
Personally I'd like it if I could do something like hit one of the four hard buttons and another button immediately after or it powers off. If I set it where all the hard buttons will turn it on I find it turned on every time I take it out of my horizontal pouch. But if it was set to some very simple key 'combination' it'd be easy to turn on myself (vs the tiny power button) but wouldn't stay on all the time in my pouch.
That is my point, either No buttons wake-up except the hard to get to power button or all buttons wake-up.
I there a registry hack that will allow the power button and one other button, maybe the OK button to wake the device up??

X1 Auto Key Lock?

Hey I was hoping that someone new of a registry setting or 3rd part app that I could use to automatically lock the keys of my X1 after a minute or so.
I can only find the option to do it with a password in the standard settings and I'm sure that would get annoying after a while so I was hoping to do one without, just like that standard key lock.
Any ideas?
For me after one minute it will lock automatically and can only restore it with the power button (can lock the keys manually by pressing the power button key too).
See Start -> Settings -> System -> Power -> Advanced
Tick the second option and set your preferred time.
Do you mean the lock function from holding down the end call button?

Exactly, I would prefer that to the setting to turn the screen off and only being able to turn it on via the power button, if possible
Something like this. Have not tried it myself

Sorry if this isn't what you are after, but...
Start -> Settings -> System -> Power -> Advance
On battery power:
[x] Turn off device if not used for: [3 min \/]
Start -> Settings -> System -> Key Lock
When device is in Sleep mode:
(x) Wake up the device by pressing the POWER button
...results in my phone going to sleep after 3 mins of no use, with the only way to wake it by pressing the power button (or to have an incoming call)

Yeah in those 3 minutes the screen takes any touch as an input though, while being in your pocket.
I don't get it, if you hold down the close call button the phone locks itseld and you get a click here to unlock screen if you touch the screen. Why can't the X1 have an option to enable this after x seconds?
Hell, my T630 has that.

What's wrong with the power button lock? It is almost the same, the difference is that you don't have to touch the screen to unlock but press the power button.
I don't understand at all this topic. The topic starter said he wants a lock without pressing anything after one minute. The solution provided by me and artesea is exactly that. Again the only difference is the unlocking method which instead using the screen you press the power button.
People are quite finicky these days....
I find this annoying also.
I now have to lock my phone (holding down the end call button) and then push the off button when I put it in my pocket. Would be better if theres an auto screen off and keyboardlock when you push the off-button.
Sorry, do we have different phones??????
To "lock" my phone I press the Power button, everything goes dark and I can put it in my pocket, doesn't matter if I hit the call button or tap the screen, the only way to "unlock" the phone is to press the Power button again.
If I forget to press the Power button after 3 minutes (but you can set this as low as 40 seconds) it "locks" the phone for me.
No need to press the End Call, or tap on the today screen.

I used to just press the power button and put the phone to sleep too... but then after a could long flight I found out that 1) if I put my phone in my jeans' front pocket (or actually... anywhere that have a chance to bump the power button), I can hit the power button and 2) once I hit the power button, the phone wakes for a couple hours trying to search for the network in the sky... and thanks god the plane didnt crash because of that but it did drain all the battery
I dunno if you have seen this too, but I realized that happened to me a couple times (not only on the plane but when I was walking as well) and eventually I decide I will hit the end call button to lock the phone before I hit the power button
this also happened when I had S2U2 installed... but since I didnt find it too useful (very nice if you want a iphone feel... but I already had an iphone for too long =P) and I dont want another application running in the background I decided to use the lock button instead
I was looking for automatic keylock too .. and then I too relized I don't need it ! Automatic screen-off is all I need.
For everyone who doesnt understand this thread, hold down the end call button and wwatch what happens.
The benefit is that yiu can see updates, email, sms, etc because the screen remains on for a while.

When i long hold the cut-call button, (which also has a lock icon on it) to happen automatically and is there a setting anywhere???
Try TouchLockPro, ever the best, even if just a few function is working on Xperia.
But actually this is what you are looking for.

[Q] Now my power button completely broken, how can I turn N1 on/off?

My N1 power button is unresponsive to any press and I realized it's completely broken. Now I can't turn off screen, turn off a phone and when i turn it off I know I won't be able to turn it on again.
I live outside US and can't get N1 to repair.
Do you guy have a way to turn N1 on without power button ?
Quickboot for shutting down, restarting etc.
Lock enabler for sleeping the screen.
Some short of trackball wake to wake the screen.
To restart from power off, just pull and reinsert the battery a few times, or pull and reinsert the sim.
Theres a thread on here, where someone replaced the power button for about $30...

[Q] Prevent Captivate from "Power Off"

I have a Captivate with bricked power button. I disassembled the phone, tried to press the pushbutton soldered to the PCB, but the phone won't recognize the 'click'. Updating to teamhacksung build 12 doesn't help either. So, I re-assigned the power button to the Search capacitive button.
However, one problem lingers. If I long-press the Search button, it will bring up the "Power Off" option normally appears when you long-press the normal power button. I don't want to turn off my phone as it may not turn on again now that the power button is bricked (currently, phone immediately turns on after I re-insert battery). Is there a way to remove this "Power Off" option?
Thanks
First of all, I suggest you immediately remove your search button as your power button. If your phone turns off, which you say your on ICS build 12 (which is still pre-beta software... aka - unstable) it is very likely your phone will turn off one day, and you're screwed. I suggest you take your phone to an att store and see if you can get an exchange. Use a hardware button as your power button, i.e. your volume keys
