Finally, they have come out with a great AIM program for the G1 because the OEM one is crap, so is meebo and IM+. HelloAIM is great and i really cant complain, great layout, love the hold and slide to switch between convos...
BUT
Does anyone else have the problem of when they exit the program or if your phone dies then you sign back in, all the settings go back to default? For example, say i sign in and set the settings(custom ringtone, LED to flash when IMs are received, Conversation Timeout to 12 hours instead of 10 minutes), it will be fine all day but then my phone will die and then i will charge it through the night turn the phone on in the morning and voila, all the settings are back to default(default ringtone, no LED flashing, 10 minute conversation timeout, etc...)it also does this if i just simply sign out for a bit and then sign back in later.
Any ideas? This is driving me nuts.
Edit: I also Emailed the developer almost a week ago now but still to no avail.
Does it have a way to hide empty groups? That's my biggest complain about all of the IM clients... I use groups to sort between co-workers, clients, friends, family, etc.. and I can't stand that there's like, 12 empty groups constantly being shown. :/
Im not sure because i only have 3 groups, but you can leave them open or closed so that you just see the title of the group or you see the title of the group and everybody in it under it.
If you want to delete groups completely, then yes, you can do that. (press-hold, then delete group) But if you mean hiding empty groups (because noone in that group is currently online) then no, i don't think you can.

hey guys is there anyway to set it up where my phone only downloads my emails during set hours? i'm sick of waking up in the middle of the night cuz i just inherited $5 million dollars from my long lost ancestor in nigeria....
in active sync you can change the time interval and time to connect like 10 til 18.00 rest by hand
hey, sorry but i still dont get it. you mean i should go to activesync on my comp while my phone is connected? i did that and didnt see any settings for limiting the number of hours my phone downloads emails... please clairify. thanks
omar
One thing I do so it doesn't wake me up at night is disable the notifications. I just remember to check my mail during the day. I don't need to get buzz/alarm each time a mail comes in. If you want to try this do the following:
Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications
From the drop down tab select "Messaging: New e-mail message" and you can set the type of alarm you get. I just disable everything.
If you're using Active Sync to sync you mail (I don't, I use IMAP) you can setup a schedule as the previous post states. Just go to ActiveSync, click on Menu and there's an option for Schedule.
I understand your frustrations with this, but rather than limiting the download, why not limit the notifications. What I found and installed was PhoneWeaver from SBSH.net. This is an automatic profile changer. With this you can specify when and what notifications are set and how loud they are. For me, I have it set to be on vibrate while during work hours, silent at night, and full ring all the rest of the time. For me, this works great.
Hope this helps.
Good suggestions, thanks. I have a 17 year old son that goes out on the weekends and I want to have my phone ring if he needs me. But I have three email accounts and several google notifications that send me a lot of emails. Middle of the night waking up to an email blows.
When I travel, I have been just putting the Kaiser into flight mode, but that doesn't let my wife phone me during an emergency. So, disabling notification before I go to bed in those situations makes a lot of sense.
I have the T-Mobile(UK) version of the Diamond & I am experiencing many issues with it.
I had the Vario II before and never had a problem with it but this is driving me nuts at times.
I love the phone but the issues I am experiencing are spoiling it.
The issues include...
1. When phone has been charging if you turn it on from standby the screen comes up but is frozen. Holding off button does not work, the only way to turn it off is to remove the battery. I have also had it freeze with the screen black.
2. The phone vibrates & continues to do so, again only removing the battery will stop it.
3. Ring tone does not start until a short while after a call comes through.
4. Lower part of handset gets extremely hot whilst in use.
5. I have NTL mail set up & it continuously shows 1 unread email message. I have recieved hundreds of emails since and read them all but the 1 unread message logo on home screen & text on bottom of screen in NTL mail remains even if inbox is empty. Didnt want to 'Clear NTL mail' as I want to keep my sent messages etc.
6. Type assist thing is extremely annoying & I dont seem to be able to permanently turn it off! I write something then put a full stop, question mark etc and press enter or space and it puts it at the beginning of the word, not after where it should be.
7. Changed keypad layout but still remains as big QWERTY.
8. Intermittently all my contacts vanish & the numbers in my call history have lost their name tags.
9. Just noticed all my 'Favourite people tags' have disappeared
10. Also the finish is rubbing off the back cover even though I am very carful with it and mainly keep it in my suit pocket. Had my Vario II for 18 months and it still looks like new.
11. Many other issues but cant remember them all at the moment.
I have not altered any of the software and am not very technical so please keep any replies very basic.
I have had the phone about 3 months, how do I go on with returning it under warranty if there is no easy fix?
Thanks
Rich

This can be resolved by going to your inbox, then click "inbox" in the top left and goto "Outlook E-mail" where there is a welcome message. Delete that and you should be ok.
Regarding the other problems you might need to upgrade your ROM, theres plenty of info in the Diamond ROM development section on that.
Unfortunately that does not work. The unread message is showing in my NTL world inbox, you go into the inbox and there is nothing there! It even says '1 unread message' along the bottom of the screen even though the inbox is empty
How do you upgrade the ROM? Will it affect the warranty?
Just tried the Clear "NTL World" option in tools as a last resort but its still there!
Hello all,
I've been using my E-mail option quite a bit on my Touch Pro lately, and I've noticed that the 5 minute update interval is a bit too long for my taste (despite the option to manually send/receive).
Therefore, I am curious as to whether or not it is possible to make a registry edit, install a program, or in any way add an option to make the update interval less than every 5 minutes (say for example, every 30 seconds)?
Also, whenever there is a new e-mail, there is a notification symbol which appears on the taskbar. Along with that, is it possible to create another registry edit / addition which would allow the phone to:
1) wake up upon new e-mail,
2) make a notification sound upon new e-mail (similar to new SMS), and
3) vibrate upon new e-mail?
FWIW, I'm using a Comcast E-mail account on the Pro.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Just go to Settings - Sounds & Notifications, the notifications tab and change the Event to Messaging: New Email Message. Have 'play sound' checked and choose the sound you want; check Display message on screen and check vibrate. i think that will do it.
As for checking for new emails, you can try this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438970
I have an exchange server so I don't know the answer otherwise. Setting it to less than 5 minutes may lead to a battery drain so if you do that use the scheduler to make it longer (or off) over night.
Thanks for showing me the settings adjustment. I suppose it isn't such a good idea to have the phone check for e-mails THAT often. As long as I can hear when a new e-mail has arrived, it should do the trick for me.

Kiss your battery life goodbye!
i've been waiting and waiting and FINALLY got my invitation today, and i'm loving it. For anyone out there that wants to save on text messages, who actually has been invited, i'd suggest this (to keep this somewhat kaiser related) go to www.google.com/voice and simply log in, once you've done so...just make it your home page. that way anytime u want to see if you have any sms messages, all u have to do is hit the internet explorer hard key, and it'll open right up to your sms inbox.
by the way, i've heard that android mobile app is fully functional, and either iphone/blackberry are in the worlds, or on the way. but has anyone who knows about goovoice heard anything about a winmo app? it'd be nice to have an app in the background which always notifies you of new text messages/voicemails etc.
Yeah, I got my invite a while ago. I'm having a hard time getting used to it. It seems like a lot of work, and I've only really got 2 phone numbers. Not to mention, there isn't a Windows Mobile application yet.
i'm only using 1 number right now to be honest (no one calls me at my house number) but the voicemail transcribing and sms, call screening are things that i know i'm going to enjoy with this.
Has anyone yet figured out a way to not have the Captivate log every single text and call you make?
It is so annoying to have to hunt all through my phone looking for tracks. Originally I assumed that they could be erased by deleting the thread in messaging. Wrong!
So then go to the contact/history and delete it there. Wrong! There is nothing in the history tab.
So then open the dialer, go to call log and look, every sent and recieved text, mms, and call is logged there as well. Its like a paranoid secret agent designed this system.
And heaven forbid that you installed a second messaging program such as Handcent to log everything all over again.
I currently use Horizon to keep my private texts private, but even that allows the outgoing texts to be logged.
Yes, deleting the thread, then selecting every individual item in the log from the unwanted caller works. Or even deleting the entire call log at once will work. But short of that has anyone come up with a work around for the call logging intrusion?
Found "Not log this call" on the market to auto delete phone calls log (Not free).
For sms you can edit the text message limit and reduce it to 1. This will at least keep 1 text message in store before it gets deleted. But default it's set to 200 msg per conversation and 20 mms per conversation.
Interesting. I looked at that app, I may have to try it.
Did you actually get your message inbox to go to 1? Mine will only go down to 10.
I am currently testing it to see if it erases the call log history as it erases the inbox but I dont think it does.
Ok, so setting the message limit to 10 only deletes the messages, not the logs.
However, while playing with it I found out that by selecting one of the logged entries (text or call) it pulls up a history type page. From there you can select the bottom left soft key, choose delete and then choose select all. I am not sure but I think it only deletes one page at a time or something as it seems to leave a few behind. I am still playing but its a hell of a lot better that trying to select each individual log in the main log screen. Its sort of what you would expect the history tab in the contact screen to do. (especially if you came from WinMo )
I hope someone else finds this helpful. I did a lot of searching and found a lot of complaints about this awful "feature" but no answers. This isnt much of an answer but its seems a bit more tolerable since I figured the history part out.
It also seems to be something Samsung adds as Evo and the Droid don't do it.
Check out HistoryEraser. I think I saw it on Lifehacker a few days ago, supposed to wipe away all your unwanted tracks.
