Hello everybody,
i just ask for help, just in case someone had the same issue
i got a vaio thats doesnt want to boot anymore,
when i press the button to turn it on, the 3 leds get on, the lights in the bottom are on (battery and wifi) the hdd light turn on a few seconds then turns off
the cd/dvd try to read a cd,
then the fan starts a few sec after but nothing, black screen and no beep...
when i touch under the laptop, the hdd, the cpu, the graphic chip area are hot
as i hav 2 x 512Mb ram, i tried only with one, i changed the slots and tried with each memory, but it's still the same
i tried with and without battery
my question is, with all those things working, where do you think the problem can be from?
if the cpu is dead, would the laptop react like that?
i was expecting some beeps from the laptop to help me but nothing happens
ps : i didnt buy this vaio in a shop, so i cant send it to sony
thanks
You know what, my Hp laptop has the same problem with yours...also its not booting anymore 'coz when I turned it on,only a black screen seen. What I did is I go to a laptop technician to make it fix. Then after a few days, he told me that it has no problem on the screen/lcd, but on the inverter. You can actually buy a new inverter for your screen so it will work.

Dear Friends:
I had today a very strange problem with my xperia. I did not drop it nor it was exposed to water.
when i turn on the device i get this white halo in the middle of the screen that goes to the corners of the screen. the screen looks washed out.
never had this problem before.
please advise.
Sincerely,
If you only see patches of light around the edges and in the middle on a black background, all it is is a bit of screen bleed, its normal and most x1s are like it. The reason is the X1 has a very strong backlight, if I turn my X1 up to full brightness it hurts my eyes and I find it difficult to look at, when your using the phone normally you dont see it, only when you turn it on, when there is no image.
Xperia screen display problem.
Hi Folks,
I can see lines on my xperia ,the phone has autoadjust backlight set as of now.
When i boot up the phone i thin lines on the screen.
Please advice if its a problem with the display or any other issue.
Cheers
JJ
I experienced exactly the same problem today.
When I connected the phone to my computer, the whole screen went white.
(This was the first time I connected the phone to this particular computer.)
Then I had an incoming call, i unplugged the USB-Cable (SE Original) and took the call - which lasted maybe 10-15 minutes - when I disconnected the call the phone returned to the default today-screen, but there was now a "halo", "ring" around the screen. (See attachment.)
Immediately performed a backup and Hard Reset, but the problem persisted.
So I thought it might be heat-related, so I let the phone be, and half-an-hour later the halo had vanished.
Specs:
Xperia X1i, Swedish.
ROM-version: 1.02.936.3
ROM-date: 08/29/08
Radio: 1.06.25.29
Computer:
MB: Gigabyte EP45-DS3
CPU: Q9450
OS: Windows 7 x64.
Google: Xperia screen white halo ring overheat
I turned my backlight to max and it did not at all look like that.
Send to repair..
Yeah, that's the thing, now it's back to normal I can't make it appear again, not by turning the backlight to max, not by plugging in the cable and taking a call like the last time.
Though I once had a TFT overheat on me, don't ask, I believe it looked similar.
That too returned to normal after about an hour.
So, I guess that's the solution - Don't panic, just wait a couple of minutes.
the ssame thing is happening to me. it gets worse when i receive a call and i would have to turn the screen off and on to return to normal
Hey guys, I was wondering if somebody would be able to maybe help me diagnose the fault\problem part with my non-working diamond...
Basically I went to a club one night and the place was unbelievably steamy / humid. My phone was working one minute and then the next it wouldnt display anything on the LCD. The backlight was working however.
Since then I havent been able to get an image on the screen although when trying to turn it on, it seems to go through its startup sequence (backlight -> vibration -> beep (i think))
I havent had any power to the phone since a day after it broke (a few weeks ago).
I'd like to get it back working again but dont know exactly what part i would need to replace. I'm fairly competent with electronics .
Any help/advite would be appreciated!
Haha, ok that's odd...
I've plugged it into my pc to get some data files off about an hour ago.. forgot about it and just looked at it now and the screen is displaying!
It is displaying and accepting input although it was flickering at first (like pixel shifting). but i pressed the power button to standby the screen and pressed it again and the display is fine with no flickering ?
Ive moved the phone about and shook it quite hard to see if there's any loose connection but the display still seems fine..
Anybody have any ideas as to what it may be?
I'm not going to deem it as fixed until I know what the problem was/is lol
cheers guys
Ok screen actually keeps flickering nonstop, and sometimes 'fades away' to gray/white/black
comes back after a few seconds though
Looks like a faulty connector?
hey guys,
I have a Sony vaio vgn-sz650 laptop and when i press the power button, i only see the power light on and the battery light , where the yellow light supposed to be blinking, isn't blinking...The screen stays black, I called Best buy and they are saying it's related to my motherboard. Strange thing is it was working last night... Having a service plan from best buy (US) is a pain in the behind...
so, Does anyone know what should i do?
the led lights that light up
-power light-green color
-battery light-orange color
-Bluetooth light-blue color
take out your battery and see if it boots.
test your memory. take out one stick try to boot. and vice versa.
I tried taking out the battery still nothing and it makes beeping noise like 7 beeps, trying to find out what the beeps can mean, not sure what you mean by taking out the memory.
Dell Dell Studio 1558 - Windows 7 Home Premium, has a beeep code:
One: Possible motherboard failure - BIOS ROM checksum failure
Two: No RAM detected (NOTE: check new/replaced RAM is seated right)
Three: Possible motherboard chipset failure
Four: RAM read/write problem
Five: Real time clock failure
Six: Video card/ Video Chip failure
Seven: Porcessor failure
Eight: Display Problem (you could guess that)
thanks for the information, from what i see it could be processor failure or display. I have read couple of articles which say to drain out the battery then try again, so hoping it's because current is not going to the LCD.
Ok,
well i've had my dell for about 2 mothns and have had a problem when i tried:
Linx Ubuntu 9.10 - No Audio
Kalyway 10.5.2 (Mac OSx86) - No Audio + other drivers,
So i went back to: OEM Windows 7 Home Premum and works fine with no beeps =]

So your saying: Put the laptop in the oven to fix it?
well, sometimes i get vertical strips of different color which appear...
It used to happen to my cousins laptop as well, get it replaced.
My Xperia fell today and when I picked up I saw the screen was broken (im talking about the inner part which is the LCD I believe)
Its kinda like this [Seach on youtube "My LCD Xperia X8 Cracked" since I can't post links ] (That is not my device but the problem seems to be the same, even tho on mine its only a small part (just the top edges))
Everytime I turn on the phone now it just shows the lanes then turns itself off.
Is there any way to fix it? If so, would I have to buy a nex LCD? And if so, would it be hard to change it myself? I live on a small town and trusting your device to some technician is like giving away your money.
Thank you ^^

Thank you for the fast reply. Yeah I think I'll try checking my warranty even tho I believe is off warranty already as I have this device for over a year now.. I'll prolly end up changing the LCD however, is it sure that changing the LCD will fix the problem or it might have another broken thing inside there? Today I just tried to turn it on and it won't even turn on now it just pops the red LED when I press the button (I think it ran out of battery, but then I try to charge it and it won't).
Thank you again

I have the same issue every time the phone dies from lack of battery. after poking it a bit on USB (connect it for 20-30 times) I saw that the device sometimes switches on in Flash Mode and after a while, FlashTool wil recognize it and do s strange thing. It allows you to start flashing what you want but after starting to gather device info, it freezes. after doing this a few times (10-15 times) Windows recognizez new device and the FlashTool asks to choose my device. Then the phone reboots and starts up in Android.
Usually this works and phone starts to charge but today after it started it was not charging and the batt level was saying Batt 0% and that it won't last if unplugged. I've left it like taht for an hour but still nothing. Then I decided to reboot the phone from the power button menu and after restart it started charging. It took a while but then it returned to normal and now it works again.
I have this issue only on custom kelners both NAA and ALFS but it's ok on stock kelner...
It would be great to find a fix for this as it is very annoying and time taking just to make the phone start charging...
Actually I charge mine via USB connected to my PC everyday (as its more comfortable) but I tried to charge it with the regular charger plugged in to the wall's socket and it charged.
I guess I'll buy a new LCD and try to change it myself.
Hello xda, i just got this damaged phone, it boots, my PC recognized it (VIE-L09) but tthe screen is black, checked the cables inside, checked for water damage, everything is ok.
right now i tried to connect it to my PC and it kept saying connected, after a few seconds disconnected, connected, disconnected, ~10 seconds time between connect>disconnect and the phone was vibrating each time it was connecting/disconnecting. i think it's bootlooping...
I don t know much about this phone, the guy who sold me said "it died in my hand", it was really cheap, i don't care if the display is broken, i will buy a new one but i'm asking you guys, where is the problem and how can i solve it?
you're probably sold a broken phone?
surely from the symptoms, it sounds... broken...
is that the behaviour the first time you got it? if you've never operated the phone properly before you tinker with it since you first got it... probably you're sold a broken phone.
