The "display message on screen" ("Sounds & Notifications" > "Notifications" > "Reminder") is being unchecked after a calendar reminder has went on.
I've tried re-setting it to on, then soft reset, re-verified the setting. But, the setting has gone after a calendar reminder.
This is causing me extra click on the title bar to get the message pop up and to dismiss it. annoying.
Anyone experienced this problem? with 2.03 ROM? Any fix?
Thanks.
I have the same problem with 2.03. For many events I have "Display message on screen" checked.
The /something/ happens to my device that un-checks them but I don't know what causes it.
I have set a calendar reminder to test if that causes it but that doesn't seem to be the cause for me.
It /is/ very annoying!
Ah... The wonderous feeling of not being alone.
I have this problem too on a 2.03 dutch ROM. A solution will certainly be highly appreciated.
oh no
This just happend to my phone too, I really am getting fed up with HTC, why don't they test the software and save us all some time....?
If anyone finds a solution please let us know
RM
fixed
Somehow this turned itself off,
but here is how to fix it
settings/personal/sound and notifications then click on show on screen and its back....
Sometimes it turns off again some people say its a bug not sure ... but this works for me...
RM
I have succeeded in creating a CAB file that fixes the registry entries for me and it seems to run fine in Windows startup.
However, I found that by just restoring the entire registry key for each reminder the selected WAV for the reminder was reset - I don't know why. To solve this I just manually edited my .reg file so that only the 'Options' value was listed for each reminder.
If the problem always occurs when the device is reset or switched off & on then hopefully I shouldn't see this issue again. Otherwise I'll have to manually run the CAB file each time I notice the issue.
This also happens on mine, but it has nothing to do with reset or turning power off. It just happens randomly :-(
same issue, even for the ones that remain checked, they don't appear on the screen.... well, hope someone can find a fix.

I recently noticed that my screen orientation icon at the bottom of the today screen has disappeared. I tried the registry tips mentioned under services, and the gdi folder, but the icon hasn't come back even after a couple of soft resets. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to go through the hassle of a hard reset, especially since I'm moving to another country in a few days.

I have the same problem.
I think it's with the startup programs every boot/soft reset.
The only solution I had was to hard reset, but when I restore my backup it disappears again.
I'm still looking for the program that was installed that somehow overrides the startup service of the rotatescreen.dll
I seem to have fixed it for the time being. I edited showicon to 1 in the HKLM/GDI/Rotation, file -> exit resco file explorer then immediately soft-reseted.
It might have something to do with my uninstalling Skype to install on the SD card though...good luck.
remember seeing someone said it needed to check the registry

Unfortunately I don't have Skype installed...
and I've tried the registry...
so I'm left with finding out which program I've installed is the culprit for overriding the startup of the screen rotate icon service...
as of now, I've somehow learned to live with it not there...
Have you tried both locations in the registry? Set hideUI to 0, and showicon to 1. then immediately exit your registry program after affecting the changes, and soft reset, lemme know how it goes
I have tried to look everywhere to see if anyone else has the same issue that I am facing. I cannot reply or compose new emails on my K-Jam after upgrading to WM6. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Any help is appreciated.
No Problem Here
I've been running the X-plore WM6 ROM ever since it's release and haven't had any problems at all with sending/receiving emails . . . or anything else, for that matter.
Are you sure your network settings are correct?? That would be the first thing I would check.
settings are fine

TY for responding, I am able to receive emails, but when I try to reply, my screen is blank and at the bottom of the screen you can either choose Send or Menu and then the email program hangs. I have 3 profiles, Earthlink, Mail2web and Live mail and for all 3 I am having the same problem.
If I'm understanding this correctly, you can type the response, but the phone hangs -- or freezes -- when you try to send?? Or, is the screen blank when you tap the "reply" option??
If it's the former, do you have any other apps running in the background that would be eating up system resources?? Maybe freeing up some memory would take care of the hanging/freezing issue??
I'm kind of groping here since I haven't experienced this. . .
can't type

The issue I am having is that when I choose reply or start a new msg, my screen turns white and you see the top and bottom bar, but I am unable to click on ok or send. The menu option on bottom right gives me the option to cancel, and still nothing happens. I have closed all the running programs and checked the msg agent and it doesn't respond at all.
I hope I have given a clear description of my issue here.
issue resolved
I did a clear storage at systems settings and reconfigured everything and that solved the issue.
every 2 or 3 days when my alarm sounds i get no onscreen noticfication to dismiss the alarm, only the symbol in the status bar.
When i look into sounds notification/reminders i see the "display message on screen" box is unchecked again so i recheck it.
What causes this to uncheck itself?
are you experiancing this behaviour or have any insight into the cause?
thanks
I have the exact same prob. It started when I used Diamond TF3D Config prog to change the diamond theme.
Dont know why it happens bro.
Anyone knows how to disable Missed Alarm Alert (symbol on the status bar) so I don't need to go to status bar console and remove it every morning ?

I believe i was having this problem before i had installed Diamond TF3D.
The search continues.
Im having the problem on TLR3 ROM and i know people who are also haveing this trouble on 1.37 original ROM and the 1.93 Original.
I'm using TF3D Config and also 1.93 ROM but I don't seem to have this issue?
Although I have never used it to apply a 'theme' only, to change date/time format and apply one of the performance tweaks.
Have you guys updated your TF3D config via apptodate and also tried restoring defaults (within TF3D config) and then tried applying your settings again?
i too only use TF3D config to format the date, i have updated it using apptodate.
I may uninstall it and see what effect that has, im not really sure that TF3D is the cause of the problem.

Yes, I'm on the original 1.37 ROM and am seeing this - bl00dy annoying too as it seems such an odd 'bug'....

Had this happen again today, really annoys the wife as i spend time trying get the phone to shut up.
I have made no progress determining the cause, but it does only seem to uncheck the box after a soft reset, but strangley not after every soft reset..... the plot thickens
This problem only happens after i reset the device, but not every time.
As i cant find the cause i was thinking of a way to fix the problem.
i found the reg entry for the reminders show "on screen"
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{15F11F90-8A5F-454c-89FC-BA9B7AAB0CAD}
and i have the values for the box checked and unckecked.
I have been googleing for the past hour but having no luck with what i want to achieve.
I would like to write a batch file to open a reg file that will change the dismiss box registry entry to the checked value, but it seems batch files cannot be run from the windows start up folder.
Im not very technically skilled with programming so could someone more knolegable point me towards the correct way of doing what i desired, which is change a rehgistry value at start up.

I could write an executable that will restore the registry entires on start-up but I can't find the registry value that controls it.
Which value are you editing?
Start / Settings / Sounds and Notifications
Page Notifications
Event - choose Reminders
Check on Display Message.

If that was in reply to me, I'm looking for registry entry!
This thread seems closest to the problem I have.
For me it is always that on alarm there is no popup where I can dismiss the or snooze the alarm
I always have to unlock the phone (by entering password), tap the status bar, then choose the alarm button and then the pop up appears as it should have done by itself.
This is always, no matter if I reset or not. And, I have checked on "display message" when I look into the settings.
This is freaking weird and annoying.
I've noticed the box unchecks after the sync process via Activesync.
I'm pretty sure it's caused by particular side software we have installed on our Diamons. I propose to post the side software list we have and then point out the pattern.
My list:
MS Voice Command
Finix Battery Icon
Splash ID
Sprite Backup
Diamond Tweak
Resco Explorer
Yandex Maps
Skype
CorePlayer
G-Alarm
Manila Calculator Skin
Yota TV
Nice idea but already flawed given you've not published an exhaustive list. A case in point being Activesync - that's a resident piece of software and furthermore one which you suspect as possibly being responsible!
Or are you certain it is a non-Windows issue? That's quite a leap of faith given we've all previously been scratching our heads...
I don't mean to come across negative, but I also don't want to see a futile attempt at finding a solution!
Mathew
No I am not pretty sure it's not Windows issue. However, if it is, why there are so few of us suffering?
I suspect G-Alarm, got to try to play around with it being uninstalled.
I'm having the same annoying problem since running the 2.03 official ROM. On the 1.93 I never had this problem. I didn't install G-alarm or TF3DConfig.

That's a very good point, although it could quite simply be down to a combination of i) a limited number of people using the alarm, ii) affected users not being bothered by the issue, and/or iii) affected people not realising they are being affected!

Hi,
I'm having this problem: At home I work with WLAN all the time, so WLAN is enabled. Later, when I take my Xda Diamond as navigation device (with TomTom), whenever I pass a hotspot or private WLAN, a dialog box pops up and a nasty sound plays, telling me that WLAN networks are found and asking to connect. I simply want to avoid that dialog. Is it possible to tell the Diamond to ONLY connect to known WLAN networks (the one at home) and to be quiet if any other network is in range?
Sure, I could simply turn off WLAN whenever I leave home, but often I forget that, and I don't want to fiddle with the settings while driving...
Thanks!
you can turn off the notification when a new network is detected. just look in settings>sounds & notifications.
Dave, exactly what I was looking for! I just missed the point that you can change more than the standard ring tone here... Thanks!
Try This
If your still having problems, try this.
Here is a program i made that fixes this problem for the HTC touch pro, let me know if it works on your device.
On my device at least, after I disable the notifications they come back automatically every time I soft reset. This will fix that issue

You were right, after soft reset the notifications came back. Actually I solved that by setting a registry key in a MortScript:
RegWriteDWord( "HKCU", "ControlPanel\Notifications\{DDBD3B44-80B0-4b24-9DC4-839FEA6E559E}", "Options", 0 )
I guess your *.exe does the same?

Interesting... how do you launch the script? Do you put a shortcut to it in the startup folder?

Exactly. After installing MortScript, it's enough to put a shortcut to my init.mscr script into the \windows\AutoStart folder.
Yep, that's all my program is doing.
I have a strange issue in my Topaz:
Some times, a notification (with repeat) ring and show up. In the same day, another notification (just a small reminder) with no repeat, DO NOT ring, and DO NOT show up in the screen, no led blink, no nothing.
This happens with or without sence.
When I flash the latest Official ROM, and import data with PIM Backup, I noticed that same thing. At the time, I figure out a problem with my Time Fuse. So, I just adjust the fuse, set the time and everything was alright.
Now, I don't understand. Same Monthly and annual calendar alarms work as usual, but if I made a new appointment in calendar, the phone do not ring, and do not show any notification.
I went to the Registry, and check this:
Enter registry HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{}
The Notification entry (second on the list) show:
AvailableOptions
0x0 (0)
Duration
0x0 (0)
Options
0xF (15)
Wave
\Windows\notify.wma (that was my choice)
What could be wrong? I'm stucked here, without any clue
- Another thing... maybe BsB utility (Made for HD2) have something to do about this... after install it, the phone get some errors at restart. Just a guess.
Is there any other registry entry for Notifications?
Thanks for any help.
PMoto
There seems to be a missing key.
The typical notification reg is listed as;
Available Options: Set to 1
Default: (this is the one your missing and it names the notification, i.e., Reminders, Mediauploader, Phone: Voicemail, etc.
Duration: Set to 1
Option: Set to 1
Wave:
If your registry is bad, there is only one solution, to hard reset.
BsB could have been the culprit as it is for a different device with a different registry configuration.
I never used it because it caused me issues early on.
Thanks Bruce.
The Default key is not missing. I just omitted that one, because is the name in Portuguese:
(Default)
Lembretes
So, thanks but that is my fault... I have no missing key.
Anyway, the (Default) key is the first one, not the second. Does that matters?
I change values to 1, and I'll try.
I'll post feedback.
Appreciate.
PMoto
Can you translate Lembretes for me? Sorry.
I just want to check what settings I have under the same key.
Sure: "Lembretes" are Notifications.
If I set all keys to 1, I loose the options, so I set them again, as I used to use it.
Still the same... nothing happens.
I wonder if TD2 tools could have something to do with it too. Both (TD2 Tools & BsB) use registry twicks, and might have done some damage.
I try them both when I need to have NDrive & TomTom in landscape.
Try installing the enclosed cab.
I exported my reminder registry and set it for your sound file.
Don't know if it will help but it is worth a try.
Thanks. I'll try that and post back.
PMoto
Well, thanks Bruce, but...
I Install that file, and instead of "Lembretes", I get a "Reminder", showing notification, but with no sound, no repeat, no led flash. Anyway, did not work.
But, that make me think in one thing. What is the "Right" name of the key?
Could it be "Lembretes", or "Notificações" (I try that one too with no luck), or could it be something else? Is the name really important. Maybe I have a wrong name, changed by BsB or TD2Tools?????
Or maybe it's something else...
I'll keep trying new combinations, and post back... again.
Thanks.
PMoto.

In my reg in English, I have HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications with only blank default key.
Under this key are subfolders with all of the various notifications listed after "Default, Phone, Reminders\Autosnooze, Shell Overrides, and Sounds" keys.
I cannot speak to the Portugese translations but I have no key labeled notification with a sound attached.
Sorry that didn't work for you.
I notice in TD2 tools under TF3D there is a setting to enable\disable Custom notifications UI, try changing that. Also look for similar in BsB.
Again, all would be fixed with a hard reset, as painful as it is.
Well Bruce, here are the news:
Definitely is not a Notifications Registry Key issue.
I pick a Annual 12/Mai notification I have, edited it to today, and it works.
So the registry is working fine... start thinking its a notification cue issue.
Must investigate.
Thanks for your help, anyway. I believe we will solve this...
PMoto
Well well... and it seems it's working again.
I deleted some notifications not important, try the posted above, and now i make a new notification at it worked.
So I guess some "BAD" deleted notification was blocking the natural behavior.
I'll make sure everything is all right.
Be back tomorrow.
Thanks for your effort's.
PMoto
Just to say that my notifications are working again.
There was no problems with system registry.
Just a small cleaning, maybe some garbage was the cause.
Special thanks to Bruce and his effort to help.
