Landscape Keyboard Issues!!! - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

1st post...so here it goes...
Having this really annoying issue with the keyboard in landscape mode. I can't see what I'm typing in landscape mode!!! This happens only in a few programs such as Messenger, Notes etc. The keyboard is in ABC mode and T9 is turned off. I'm not having any key mapping issues. Everything types correctly, but I can't see what I'm typing till I either press enter (in messenger) or close the keyboard and go to portrait mode (in notes).
I had this problem on the stock rom after I had installed several programs...couldn't find a solution so flashed a new stock rom....things were great, everything was as expected and now the problem has appeared again, after installing several programs and tweaking the phone to my needs!!! The phone is just the way I want so I can't just go and flash the rom again, so I'm hoping someone knows of a solution to fix this really annoying problem.
I tried searching on google and here for a solution, but nothing. I tried installing some keyboard fixes floating around here, but nothing. It maybe a simple registry fix or some WM6 issue with some program, I don't know. The keyboard works fine in MS Office and when txting.
It's really bizarre and annoying. Hope someone can help!
Thanks.

hi,
try to disable the cleartype feature while in landscape.
there is an option somewhere that can do that for you.
cleartype is turned off by default in landscape, so this is caused by some change you made.

Tilt SIP Keyboard Problem

Has anyone else had the following problem? I've installed alternate keyboards (HTC, Pocket CM .12, TouchPal) and none of them seem to work. They show up in my drop down, but when I select them the Tilt will still use the default keyboard. I even tried changing it using the input selection under settings to no avail. All of the screen writing selections work fine.
Any suggestions?
try a soft reset if you haven't. or try installing to main memory
Tried multiple soft resets, reinstalling all of the above and placing in main memory.

I am having the same problems. Anyone figure out a fix for this?
thanks!
Ive had the same problem... i just gave up and went on with the norm...
I've had the same problem before. I have several onscreen keyboards installed and sometimes I can't access most of them. They just go to the default onscreen keyboard. A soft reset typically fixes the problem. For a little while at least. Kinda weird.
SIP problem
the same here :/

exact same thing here with touchpal v1 and v2 as well as pocket CM keyboard, but any keyboard built into a rom seems to work fine all the time...
Got your answer
Google up IM Selector, install it to the main memory and change the SIP default in their dropdown menu. Softreset. Bam, whatever keyboard you use.
IM Selector doesn't work on my Device
I found the IM Selector on http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/taptapkeyboard.shtml but it doesn't work on my XDA Orbit 2 (WM6). Maybe the HTC Touch Keyboard is the problem but I can't uninstall it.
Try sipchange
I installed a new IM (Calligrapher) and I experienced the same problem. My solution was to use the utility SIPchange and it worked fine for me.
You can find it here: http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=1312

Landscape Problem

So I recently flashed my ROM and everything is working just fine except I'm having one problem.
I don't know but when I'm in Landscape mode, a lot of my text turn invisible or the same color as the white background, so I can't read anything I'm typing in IE, Contacts Search, and some tabs don't show any text. I tried searching and couldn't find a fix, I was hoping White Screen was the same problem I had, but it seems do be different, if I can get a little bit of help it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Did you flashed any other ROM made available here?
I flashed it through I believe Kaiser Diamond V2, I'm just going to it over again, then I'll leave an update.
I think I saw something about that ROM (or perhaps it was the first version?) that had that kind of problem...
Leo's V3 seems to be much better...
I'm downloading that right now...
Ahh I see, I didn't notice there was a V3, and it clearly says it fixed the text missing in landscape. Thanks for the help, the Wiki didn't have that version!
I got a similar problem with the official 6.1 update. The cause was cleartype activated in landscape mode. Once it's deactivated, it works well. But if you know a tip to have cleartype AND the text correctly displayed, it'll be great
Bump: I would also love to see this working again.
I have the Official HTC WM6.1 for Australian TyTN II's and if Cleartype is enabled in Landscape much of the text is not displayed (especially on menus).
Any Ideas?

VITO SMS-Chat 1.1 landscape

hi i purchased vito sms chat and have had a problem with the typing in landscape mode, its not there. it doesnt appear in the text box until after it is sent. I had this issue in both wm6 and wm6.1 and have searched it for weeks and havent been able to find a solution, i tried disabling cleartype landscape and many other things but nothing seems to work. Can anyone point me in the right direction or has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in advance,
Fjc3
I've downloaded and tried the SMS-Chat, I think the problem is not the software but the WM6.1 have issue with displaying typed clear type text in landscape...
Vito's FunContact also does not work when you try to create/edit a contact and entered any text in landscape mode, texts simply would not show up untill you flip your screen back to vertical orientation...
I've sent a message to the tech support at VITO maybe they can give me an answer.
Unless the SMS-Chat have option to disable cleartype in landscape, it is not useable when typing in landscape mode using either QWERT keyboard or onscreen keyboard.

thanks for the reply, lets hope VITO can give us a solution!
I highly doubt Vito can give a solution other than revert back to 6.0 or just turn off cleartype in landscape.
6.1 doesn't allow it in any programs I have used.

i had to do that for my IE as well but that fix doesn't seem to work for SMS-Chat.
actually i just noticed, oddly enough, if you type with keyboard (landscape) and then close keyboard before sending the message your written text appears in text box and if you slide open again the text will stay but new text will again be invisible... i have all cleartype disabled and cannot think of what the problem may be. maybe the application uses cleartype in landscape on its own???
You guys should try L26's Diamond V9 ROM. I have zero problem with cleartype in landscape mode in any application.

I am actually on L26 v9 coincidentally i have updated roms every time he comes out with a new one since v1 and check for v10 every day lol. I have no problems with other apps both in landscape and in portrait but this one is giving me a hard time tho.
This is serious issue, I have it on my tilt too and I havew l26V9 too... this is ridiculous...
I tried to change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ClearTypeSettings key: offonlandscape with no luck, anyone has any idea?
I have Alex's newest ROM, and have no difficulty using Vito SMS chat. I can see the text as I'm typing it in (in landscape mode, of course), and can see all of the messages I've received or sent. It's in cool colors, too!

I installed AT&T's WM6.0 Stock rom on my Tilt and it indeed works perfectly, so does Fun Contacts by Vito.
You can't simply disable cleartype in the system to solve this problem associated with Vito softwares. Why? Because the software itself forces the use of clear-type fonts regardless of system setting in landscape mode.
I've got a response back from VITO support, NO They can't fix this problem unless it is fixed by microsoft in WM6.1

that makes sense, i guess we will have to hope that the cleartype issue gets figured out in a new 6.1 ROM
Is there an alternative for that program?

PocketCM Keyboard is a freeware alternative. But I guess you've paied for Vito SMS Chat right? I would not be satisfied with their answer.
Vito should add an option to enable\disable in their program. Should not be the hardest thing to do.
Voice your concerns on http://www.technologyatplay.com/main-mobile/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=165
Seems its the VITO forum that their developer visit.
looks like this could be the solution to our problem.... i have asked Leo to include it in his next ROM. lets hope he does!

Tilt Landscape View Problem

All,
All, I've tried searching for this.... No luck.
I'm out on the road and my wife and I both use AT&T Tilts, stock WM 6.1 ROM, mine with no bloatware, hers with the bloatware. Mine is heavily customized from many tweaks from the great minds on this forum, her's with the exception of Kaiser Tweak and the Camera Upgrade has backgrounds from Microsoft which is about the extent of her customization skills and desires. So, whose phone do you think is giving us problems?
Today my wife calls and says that in landscape mode, she has no letters on any menus, and the titles to tabs are gone. I walked her through Kaiser Tweak (installed on both phones) to make sure Clear Type is enabled and to double check all the settings that might effect the menus or tabs in the setting screens. Autofill is also blank even though she has the 6 words selected through Kaiser Tweak. We did soft resets after each time we adjusted Kaiser Tweak to try to get some usefulness in landscape mode back. No luck.
My Tilt is fine. Hers is basically useless in landscape mode. If we can't get a solution form XDA, I'll just hard reset the stock AT&T ROM again, this time with NO bloatware and reinstall some of the more cool software folks from here provide that she might like.
We've got a way out if need be, but not until after I get home on Saturday next week, so if anybody has an idea of what we can do besides a hard reset, that I can talk her through, I'm all ears. Heck, I'll talk her through a hard reset before then, but if we can get out of this with out the hard reset, I think she'll be happier. She likes her phone the way it is....
Thanks!
Jim
Disable Cleartype?
I'm pretty sure that with the 6.1 ROM, you have to disable cleartype in landscape in KaiserTweak. I am also pretty sure that you are not the only person to have this problem, and that something about the 6.1 ROM doesn't allow cleartype in landscape. Just disable cleartype in landscape in kaisertweak and see if that makes a difference.
Dave
That would be correct, disabling cleartype will definitely solve the problem.

[CAB] Speeding up your Hardware keyboard Responce - Disable XT9

This is a cab that i used to ALWAYS use on my Kaiser to speed up the keyboard response of the device. Just tried it on my Fuze running ROMEOS and it definitely showed signs of improvement.
Install the CAB and soft-reset. Post your findings to this thread.
Makes this change:
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409
Ime File=\windows\compime.dll
Layout Text=COMP IME
To Turn on again
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409
Ime File=\windows\eT9Ime.dll
Layout Text=eT9 IME
Hi, I've tried this registry hack on TouchHD with production firmware, and it certainly does disable XT9 and re-enable the native WM predictive text, *BUT* it makes my TouchHD slow to a crawl. The phone still works but extremely slow (like 2-3 second reponse delay) and also gets extremely hot behind the CPU. It's as though there is still some process in the background desperately making unanswered function calls to XT9. I've had to re-enable XT9 just to make my TouchHD responsive.
Can anyone point me to a CPU/process tool so I could see what it is taking up all those CPU cycles and generating all that heat when XT9 is disabled?
You tried that hack on the Touch HD? Does that even have a hardware keyboard? I don't think that it was supposed to work with that phone. (Maybe?)
yeah.. this would have no effect on sip inputs...
Well there is one problem i got is that when i install this tweak i cant type æøå on the hw keyboard:/ (norwegian keyboard) so is there away to use this tweak with norwegian keyboard support?
Still searching as well
I am also still searching for a way to get rid of the whole friggin' black et9 input bar, but keep my hardware keyboard to be responsive to the sym key, and the function key for typing euro sign and pound sign.
I hate the black input bar, especially since after you type first name in a text message address bar, and press space for a second name, it fills ion a name that's highlighted at the moment.
That's just so annoying...
Anyone any clue on how to deactivate et9, but keep the hardware keyboard fully functional?

I think it wirked.
I have jsut installed it on my kaiser and it seems to work very well, But i am also old school and running solace v1, works great thank you! no more.. t hanky ou...lol
just pade the registry change...
seems to be working well... barely any lag at all...
i've made this change VVV as well in hopes to fix this problem... it also helped a little
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
“InitialDelay”=dword: dec 775
“RepeatRate”=dword: dec 23
with this one tho seems a lot better.
After i uninstalled this "disable xT9" my manilla sms meny dissapeared... Anyone knows how to restore it?
this actually got my sip full qwerty keyboard stuck in number mode...
i just changed it back to et9ime.dll and it's back to normal...
too bad... seemed to work well for the hard keyboard.
Works well for me on my HTC Touch Pro.
Thanks heaps ... it's been bugging me for a while.

Works great for me, I've been looking for something like this! Thank you very much!
just a lil warning...
Be careful installing this on touch pros/fuzes. It has been known to get the on screen keyboard stuck on numeric mode. Some ppl have gone upto a week or two without the problem showing up. Just a heads up.
just a lil warning...
Unfortunatley, I did not read this post prior to installing the xt9 disable software on my Fuze. I really enjoyed everything, such as the older style auto correct, and the list of suggested words. Now that juicy "Full QWERTY" is stuck in number mode. Is there a fix for this? Any help will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Rick
I did the reg change to get the win mob predictive text... which worked until I did a soft reset. After that, my FULL QWERTY is also stuck in number mode.
Changed the reg back to original, and I got back my FULL QWERTY. No need to soft reset.
this helped me! HTC messaging with hardware keyboard on xperia is much faster now... but not windows messaging...
but I found this, which helped out with that too...
