Woke up this morning and noticed that my tilt did not charge. When I plug it in, it does not register or nothing. It doesn't even show that its plug in. I tried my car and wall charger with out results. The normal amber charging light doesn't even come on. Its not the battery because, again, it will not even show that I plug it in!! I tried soft reset a few times but no good. Its the stock rom with just the basic stuff. This is the first time I have a problem with phone. Its a little over a year old. Nothing was added or changed to cause this.
thanks
Just tried pluging it into my computer, nothing!
I did not drop it or expose it to nothing. It was working great! Nothing happens when I plug it in. All my info stored on it will be lost once the battery drains!!!

Hurry and make sure that you have all your data backed up before the battery runs down. Once your data is backed up, then you can try a hard reset. If the hard reset does nothing, then it is a hardware issue, probably a bad usb port.
You can look at the pins inside the port to make sure they are not damaged or bent.
Ok, just backed up everything and did a hard reset, still nothing happen when I plug it in!!!

Sounds like a broken usb port . You will probably need to get it repaired.

this is hardly ever software related you definitley want to check the usb port
I remeber mine broke but what I did was I took a small screwdriver and put the two back together since they weren't completely gone and now it has been working fine for 6months
Sounds liek a dead USB port to me as well.. you might want to get one of those online kits where you get a dockign station that will charge and extra battery and then just play the swap battery game... Also, my son had that problem and the usb mini port on the dockign station was longer than the standard size so itwnt in a little deeper.. and on the stand it positions the phone jsut right... the dockign station would like as well as charge the phone, as well as the backup battery he now had... (he could do neither before)... Hope all works out for you

Have you tried to plug in a usb to your computer to see if it can pull off a charge? Might work...

That will most likely NOT work. The USB charge off a PC is a trickle charger. First, if the battery is completely drained, take out the battery and plug it into the wall charger. Let it sit like that for about 15 mins. Then put the battery in and let it charge over night. If it still will not power on the device is probably bad.
Are you getting a red LED on the front? If so it could be the "red light of death" (RLOD). It is a known issues that has caused many kaisers\tilts to fail.

actually it might work.....there has been cases where there's damage to the usb port and it wont charge with a wall charger, but fine when connected to a pc via usb cable (or it might be the other way round). the rlod is a different issue, this one seems to be more of a usb port issue. tqg317, take a look at your usb port and see if you can spot any damage.
Moving to the regular Kaiser Forum. Not an upgrading/development matter.
Mike
99% of the time a damaged USB port will affect USB to PC or automotive charging only. Take a look at your USB port, if it is curved or lowere on the right side then YOU placed the stylus poorly during a soft reset. You may be able to straighten it out using your stylus, but do it very carefully.
thanks for the move
i guess what i am wondering is if i get the right things to set it back to att and ezxchange it, it gets no charge large or anything, usb, ac, or car dc thanks for everyone help
ok
got all the things for reverting back to at&t i imigine i can use the origina att rom but what about the original att spl can it be ran off a microsd card?
Help! My tilt freezes up suddenly and then reacts extremely slow to any inputs. I will push a button on the touch screen and it takes the phone about 3-4 seconds to react to the input. Any ideas on what may be wrong and how to go about fixing them? Also, the phone has problems every month or so about going into the 4 color screen when booting up and not starting properly (not sure if this has anything to do with it...very annoying!!). Usually happens though when the battery is drained. Any help would be excellent!
if by USB you mean the computer's USB port, is ActiveSync syncing when the tilt slows down? because I believe that's normal when ActiveSync is actively working in the background...
USB meaning plugged into my laptop...
...and active sync is not even recognizing my device. Everything i do on my phone is delayed a couple of seconds. When i unplug it from the computer through the USB cable everything runs at normal speed.
Another Problem
I tried a hard reset through clear storage (copied all of my contacts to the sim card since my phone was not syncing) and when the phone booted back up it started in the infamous 4 color screen (anyone know what the actual name for this screen is?) and won't turn back on properly!

I got a similar issue with my Kaiser. Pluged it via sync cable to my laptop/PC, and it would freeze both sides (PC and Kaiser). It is definitely a mini-usb issue, a pin is bend, creating a bad contact. If I slightly move the plug in the mini usb, it will eventually come to life. If the cable moves to the right again, it will freeze again. This isn't happening with a wall/car charger however.
Could be you're facing the same problem. Did you recently damage the mini-usb (by inserting the stylus inside instatd of the soft-reset button, like most of the people lol).
Thanx!
Now that i examine it, the USB is slightly damaged on the inside..will try a different one...
Will try when phone actually boots up properly.....
Still Freezing
Got my phone to finally boot up (after numerous attempts) and I used a brand new USB cable and it still is going reaalllllllyyy sloooooooowwww. It also won't sink with my computer. Anyone, please HELP!

Actually, I didn't mean that the cable was damaged, but the mini-usb plug from the Tilt itself. Have you tried holding the cable while pluged right or left and see if tht Tilt reacts normally ?
That didn't seem to make any difference either. When I plug it into a regular charger it works normally.
New Discovery!
My headphones now do not work either. To recap, connect phone through USB to my computer, the phone moves as fast as my grandmother but though it still charges the battery. My regular phone charger works fine and the phone moves as fast as Micheal Phelps. Though my head phones perform sexually like my grandfather, they don't work at all.
I don't get it!
This may be the most unreliable phone I have ever experienced in my entire life. Now the head phones work after I put them in very slowly but when I take them back out of the mini USB port the regular speakers do not play and sound. When I plug the head phones back in I hear the sound through the ear buds. On a more disturbing note, I guess my grandfather is taking cialis. My mini USB port is just messed up!
I have been getting pretty bad battery life recently, and now it's gotten to the point where I could leave the phone plugged in all day, come back and it will only last about 20 minutes.
So I went to AT&T and picked up a new battery, and I popped it in and left it plugged in overnight. When I checked on it last night it was up to 35% charging, now this morning, after being plugged in all day it's at 6%!
If I unplug the phone, it gives me the battery critically low warning immediately and then soft resets.
I am not sure what to do here. I read some stuff on here about doing a hard reset and then charging, or another one said let it charge while in bootloader mode, I really dont know how to go about this. I dont want to have to send the phone in for service because then I have to revert everything back to how AT&T had it first.
Any ideas on this would be appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: Awesome, and since the battery level is under 50% it will not let me do the ROM update back to the AT&T stock ROM.
Check the usb port. It is rather easy to bend one of the gold connectors and the battery won't charge. You could still get a connection with your PC with the usb and not get a charge if you bent the right one.
You can flash VIA the SD card if you Charge is too low.
But I wouldn't recommend trying with less than 40% battery with your draining problem.
If the battery goes out during the flashing problem, you would have a pretty nice Paperweight.
I had the same problem. Try a different charging cord! They don't last long

You know what I had it plugged into the computer for a while with the new battery and I think it took the charge okay.
Also, I just gently used the stylus to poke around at the usb connector on the phone (as I have done as many others have in the past, and tried to do a soft reset in the dark and wound up putting the stylus in the USB port instead of the reset hole, but up until now I never had any issues). It seems to be charging again after doing that. I'll have to keep an eye on it and really baby that USB port, lol.
I do have a spare charger from my old HTC Wizard, I'll try using that one again if I have any more issues. I wound up reverting to the official ATT rom now as well just in case I need to get it serviced, and it really makes me appreciate the hard work people put into these custom ROMS because the stock one sucks, lol.
What the heck is going on?
I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the ROM, because it did this with the factory ROM, Manila 2d and now WM6.5.
I turned the phone off, unplugged it, removed the battery. I put the battery back in, replace the cover and press the power button. Nothing happens. I plug the phone back in to the wall charger and put power, it turns on....for about 3 seconds then reboots and it would seem that it will do this for as long as I let it go. If I unplug the phone while this is going on, it will die.
The last time this happened, it took it about a day and a half to sort itself out. It almost seems like its a battery issue.
Any thoughts or ideas?
UPDATE!
I took the sim card out of the phone for a few seconds and the phone seems to be working now.... But its been up and running for about 20 minute now with no sings of acting up.

tried to charge the pda all night the light stayed orange and never turned green indicating full charge. tried hard reset and when it goes in to prepare rom it shuts off like dead battery. when i plug in the pda to charge battery and then turn on the phone it freezes on splash screen. if i turn on phone then plug in to charge it acts like i havn't pluged in charger. is it the pda or battery?
I am not 100% sure on this, but to me it sounds like the battery.. and that is a MUICH cheaper option to test out... unfortunatly you ahveto wait for shippng typicalyl unless you have a friend who has the same phone.. I got 2 backups and a stand alone charger now... The other option could be your USB port... I have not heard this specific problem with them.... but I am a PC tech and have seen very simmilar problems with laptops... Usually the first think to for is the power port... Just like out phone, if the device is not on a flat surface and such when it is plugging it, it tweaks the port and it eventualyl breaks... on laptops it is not uncommon that when plugged in, the LEF wil light up saying it is getting power to charge, but it enver charges the battery, and even sometimes can;t power up the full system.. .It sort of sounds like this is what you phone is doing as well.. .If that is the problem the stand alone charger would work (my son broke off his usb all together and now syncs via bluetooth and jsut changes batteries.. he has 3 himself as well) If you search online, you can usualyl find a kti with a battery or 2 and a charger/dockign station for under $20US total. Good luck!

tried bootloader and installed official att rom and never shut off. when it was finished with install same issues appeared. help
For anyone facing this issue I would not recommend wasting money on a new battery as this issue has been around with few users since the Kaiser "Tilt" first came out and I've never seen ANY reports that a new battery fixes this. People have bought new batteries, fully charged their battery from a docking station, tried their friends fully charged battery all with the same result. I had this power down issue a Looong time ago my first week in with the Kaiser and managed a fix and am using the same battery now. Although it seems the battery is not being fully charged it's important to leave it charging until you'd assume it's fully charged and get into bootloader mode and flash an official htc Tytn 2 rom. It should flash completely, and the fact that it does not die immediately as on normal boot indicates it is not the battery but the rom. It did take me the whole afternoon of Flashing, recharging and repeating before it finally kicked in. Also, from reading older posts, it seems most if not all users like myself fixed this by flashing the older official htc wm 6.0; worth a shot at least.

Yup, that is what I had to today (I hard reset, actually), with barely enough battery life to do this.
Then the bloody unit came up and was charging - amazing, really!
(Was using the official HTC 6.1 upgraded WindowsMobile OS)
here is my 2 cents....
I owned five Tilts, replaced four of them with warranty issues ... so i have faced this dilemma on at least two of them.
First see if the USB tongue is loose. To do this try to gently tap it with the stylus. If the tongue inside the USB port is loose then you will be facing rebooting and other issues and troubles in the future. The USB tongue gets used and jerked every time you connect your device to your PC or wired headset. If you are still under warranty and the USB connector tongue is loose I recommend returning the phone ( if you still can) and getting a replacement. There is no easy fix for a loose USB connection tongue as i have taken one apart and it is very difficult to repair or replace and very easy to mess it up further.
So, my advice to all Kaiser owners... be careful when plugging and unplugging your phones through the USB. Do it gently as the connectors are very fragile.
For those that have the above issues, I recommend using a separate battery charger tray, avoid plugging the USB as much as you can, and if you must, then administer extra care. The rebooting will stop if you plug the USB cable to the device and move it up and down a hair then holding steady. And most likely you will not get a full charge or even a partial charge. The biggest culprit to this problem is car chargers, and second, is inserting the stylus by mistake (when it is dark and hard to see) in the USB port instead of the Reset hole by accident.
Hi, as the title of this thread says, my mobile just died i dont know how but i cant do anything, i cant enter in recovery mode, i cant enter into fastboot mode, it wont recognize any command i put. The only thing it does, its that when i plug in the usb cable it turns on the green led and wants to start but when it gets to the "Warning: Bootloader unlocked" advice, it turns off again and starts again. I dont know if this can be fixed, i hope so. Thanks

Just a guess, but you might have a bad battery. To test that, you can either buy or make a Motorola Factory Cable (google it) or get a new battery. Factory Cables power the phone directly from USB, bypassing the battery -- meaning if it works with the Factory Cable, the problem is with the battery. If it doesn't work with the Factory Cable, you might be screwed and need an actual repair from Motorola.
Also, try powering on the phone holding down all the buttons. That's how you access the boot menu, if you can get to that menu, you should be able to access fastboot and recovery.
And don't charge it with a PC, use the wall plug charger or a car charger. The phone treats a PC connection differently than the rest, even if the phone is off and only being plugged in to be charged -- it'll force boot/power on with a PC USB connection when it's turned off (it does for me). See if it'll take a charge with the wall/car.
My Bravo acts like this when that battery is really, really low and I plug it into a PC to charge when it's low....it also did exactly what your post said a year ago and I had to replace the battery....don't by a cheapo generic battery, I did and I regret it very badly (it has already gone out and doesn't work...the generic battery).

It might be the battery, because my mom dropped it into the water some weeks ago. I'll try factory cable now and see what happens. I tried holding down all the buttons but nothing happens. Just leave it in a wall charger for a few hours then. Sounds like you might get lucky.
My Dad has dropped his in the toilet twice now (seriously, twice...figured he'd learn the first time) and on the second time, it had to be powered off, wrapped in a paper towel, and left in rice for 24 hours before it worked again (6 hours on his bed the first time). Rice draws out the moisture and is a cheap easy way to dry the internals of a phone if its soaked....just telling ya for future reference.
Mines been wet, but never soaked. These phones aren't hard at all to take apart and put back together (I repaired my Dad's cracked digitizer a few days ago in under a half hour...never taken one apart before then...the 22 #5 torx that are removed are damn annoying), so you could take it apart, blow dry it (warning: don't say on any one area for more than 5 seconds, you'll risk both unsticking the glue that holds the screen on as well as warping the motherboard), and use some PC cleaner or isopropyl alcohol (99% alcohol) and clean the board up being careful to not get alcohol on the screens -- (warning: alcohol can weaken certain plastics, but it's perfectly fine as a cleaning agent for a silicon based motherboard...alcohol also dries and removes trace amounts of moisture and can clean oxidation spots.
I can see oxidation on the battery terminals making the phone act like this. IRL, I install custom, solar powered, automatic iron gates, and the #1 repair I have to do is cleaning battery terminals. 30 seconds, a terminal post cleaner tool (glorified wire brush), and some WD-40 (acts as a sealant/water repellent) can make a non-functional gate into a working gate. Bad power flow is hell on electronics.
Just look at the EB40 mod guide. It has the exact same steps you'll need to do if you want to attempt cleaning the terminals, well, except for that step where you put in a better battery.
