I'm about to update my rom to the latest generic uk rom. I was wondering is it worth updating it, if so what are the benefits. And, is there a way to back up my text messages? Just because i dont want to lose them all
Try PIM Backup 2.8
It is free http://www.dotfred.net/default.htm

ROFL!!!
No you cant, you can sprite back up and this will backup all apps, then you just have to reflash your device with the same ROM and then Sprite restore.
Sprite back up backs up registry changes as well
yep thx bennec,
i got that one already, wanted to have a solution all in one
/mode lazy frenchman ON (wasn t lazy on the search function )

Look in the sticky from PavelX1....
For restoring the SPL look in the sticky from Olinex...

Will it work if i restore to original SPL? Or will i cause a brick to my phone?

You first need to flash a generic ROM and after that restore stock SPL!
I have the generic R3, will upload and post the link in about 15min
edit: here you go http://www.megaupload.com/?d=28O1LL6Y

Well, the retired need to be financed.
Now let's keep it on topic.....
Hi all,
after all the fuss about the nexus one warranty being broken by unlocking the device, does anyone know if Samsung's warranty is affected by installing a custom rom?
I did see a mention of it in one of the threads here, but the gist was basically if you flash an official firmware back on the phone, they won't know.
Does anyone know if this is true?
I don't want to go do something stupid to my new phone, and realise later I can't get it fixed.
Loving the screen on this device, and in person, it doesn't look as much like an iphone as I'd feared.
Both are true. If you flash a Rom you void your warranty but if you flash a stock ROM back they won't know the difference
Sent from my Behold II using XDA App
hope this is true, and its one of the reason i gave up on NexusOne.
How can we make a backup of the original ROM of our Galaxy S? is Nandroid working for that phone?

The only easy way to do a backup of your rom just to use titanium backup. You might be able to make a dump of your current state but that would involve adb and working on getting that dump into an odin file structure. There is no nandroid like service yet.
Or change the build.prop to fake the stock fw...

Hi guys
I just want to ask your opinion regarding these issue. Is it safe to remove stock apps from system/app or is it more safe to just freeze them using Titanium Backup? If you guy have a list of bloatware to be remove in stock .207 firmware please share.

It's better to freeze them if you're not sure what they exactly do,
I froze these apps with Ti.Backup when I was on stock. Hope it helps
Still keep a nandroid backup just to be safe.

Well I have got a suggestion for you. There is an app called system app mover!!!!!!! It allows you to convert system app into normal app and vice versa. So you convert some non useful system app and use ur device if its functioning normally then uninstall it. This way you can keep track of every app you remove.
