Milestone release will happen later today. All blockers have been resolved, although some of the patches have not landed so this release will be built with a small set of patches.
Wait and see...

dat zeiden ze gister... page last modified: 9 feb

I just spotted version 0.11 here:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/
and a nightly build here which appears to be the 9th Feb fennec-1.0a3pre.en-US.wince-arm.zip:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/nightly/
Rob

I think latest can be found following this link:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/wince/1.0a3/fennec-1.0a3.en-US.wince-arm.cab

so as of today what is the newest build?

Fennec Alpha 3. It starts up faster, and there are a few UI changes, but most of the improvements are under the hood. However, if you have a (W)QVGA device, it now scales UI elements such as the URL bar so it won't be huge like in previous versions. Overall, it's still not yet suitable for everyday browsing, as it's pretty slow, and a lot of features still don't work. It's a promising looking browser though.

Someone called me?

from pocketnow on their twitter and had an interview with the fenec team there will be a beta hopefully by the end of the year! http://twitter.com/pocketnowtweets

On Energy ROM 21885 (31 dec), once installed and soft reset HTC Sense won't launch
(seem the Fennec fast start launch during statup of the machine use too much resource !?).
Too bad
Waiting for the next release

On my Touch Pro it doesn't even start - Fennec says there is not enough memory to start while there is 122 MB of free memory.

Fennec has just the state Alpha 3.... This will take a while before we can get an Stable
Beta or Final Version... Cant wait anymore

I've tryed fennec on my htc hd2 and it crashed my camera, the camera app did not start, until i close fennec from the task manager, don't know why it stay open there, for no reason to me. afther closing fennec frorm there camera app works great, fennec did not strat, not enough memory it says, still fennec is a disaster to me

I have installed this on my X1 and the interface looks good, but I can't get it to load any web pages!!
Am I missing something or is anyone else having the same issue?
For those that want to give it a try the cab is here:

same here
I didn't have any trouble at all - just installed and ran fine. I'm using Touch-X custom rom though, so I'm not sure if that affects it. I've tried both a1 and a3.
I'm really excited about the layout, it certainly better and more inline with the iPhone Safari experience; needless to say the rendering is the same as FF for desktops. But it's quite unstable, many pages cause the browser to crash/quit, and since there's no support for OpenES yet - it's painfully slow.
I only had one problem with it. It was terribly slow.
As Opero Mobile Turbo mode is still in beta and does not support lots of features, I keep my Opera mini.

Thats absolutely no excuse for this extremely slow piece of software, Opera Mobile 9.6 didn't have any acceleration either and is over an hundred times faster. OpenGL-ES was one of the key-features of 9.7 Beta.
Granted, its a Alpha. But all things considered, I dont think we'll ever see this running at reasonable speeds on the 528Mhz MSM7200A.
Im very interested how the speed is on the, 1Ghz Snapdragon powered, LG TG01 phone.
The actual page panning is a lot better since A2, it's just panning onto the interface that is painfully slow.

Haha that's true, shame that it seems Fennec's focus is really just on the Nokia platform at the moment.
on my x1, don't start the browser, crash only.

OperaMini 5 soon..
Will kick ass probably.
I think some people in this thread forget that it is a fricking ALFA! IT IS SUPPOSED TO CRASH AND BE SLOW AND LAGGY! Ever heard of a "work in progress", or did you think "alfa" is part of the name? Pffft...

IE 9: First look at the new JS Engine
The IE team is busy working on the next version of the world's most popular browser. IE 8 is the most widely used browser on Windows. IE 9 is currently in the oven and the IE team is ready to talk about what they're working on. Here, JavaScript engine team members John Montgomery, Steve Lucco and Shanku Niyogi give us an early look at the new JS engine that will ship with IE 9. As of the interview, it is on par with the latest performance numbers of the latest Firefox beta and making progress in catching up to Chrome's latest V8. Again, this is a really early look at where the JS engine is and where it's going (and what they've done, architecturally, to speed up IE's JS engine).

same problem for me
I have it installed (using King's Legend 1.0), but it's not doing anything. I open the app, it shows a big button that says "Launch", I click it, and then I get a black screen (top bar is still there)
This is an EARLY beta of Fennec and it was designed for the Droid/Nexus. Chances are, it isnt gonna work right with the G1.

Please note that I said it is an EARLY BETA. Actually, it's the FIRST BETA. It's going to have problems on any device, much less a device it wasnt designed to support, like the G1.
the guy said it requires android 2.0 or higher.
As I read things, it is actually an UNOFFICIAL beta built from the dev repos.
The official betas will be distributed from mozilla's website, just as the n900 betas are.
Its also a ~40mb app. My thoughts are its running itself virtually for now. But that could be one stupid theory...
The alpha is out for Android 2.0 users. Only 10M this time

Howdy birders!
We’ve been hard at work on something super seeekrit and we’d like to give you a preview. No, it’s not a series of leaked Whitehouse cables or Military secrets, it’s way more awesome: Songbird is coming to Android!
We’ll be continuing to work on it for the next few weeks before a full release, but here’s a build for you guys and dolls to try out. First, though, I need to go over a few pieces of information that will make your use of it more pleasant.
You’ll need an Android phone that’s running Android 2.1-update1 or newer for the OS
To install, you will need to enable installing applications from unknown sources (Typically under Settings -> Applications -> Check ‘Unknown Sources’ Option)
When we release a final version through the Android Market you will need to manually uninstall this build which will wipe data related to it
This build will expire 4 weeks from today so do get your testing in while it’s hot!
Download the APK
Let us know what you think! Also, have a quick look at the list of known issues we’ll be fixing before we make the full release, so you know if we’re already covering something you’ve found.
When launching app via Widget, if drawer was open previously, it gets closed
If you have an HTC Incredible, the wrong song may play when you have music on both the phone storage and the SD card
On the HTC Incredible, stuff may be sorted oddly in the Artist, Albums and Songs views when you have music on both the phone storage and SD card
Have a great weekend!

Wow, I thought the Songbird team dropped all of their projects years ago... Nice to hear this.

[ROM] MIUI V6 // Alpha

THIS IS NOT A DAILY DRIVER
I just figured people would want to play with the new MIUI based on KitKat.
Ported by me, mostly works, and based off of today's Nexus 7 2013 beta build.
Has no cell radios, most MIUI apps crash, etc, etc.
*MOD EDIT: REMOVE LINKS*
Enjoy!

Great work so far.

I can guarantee you that we're not getting radios anytime soon. It's still in beta testing, and this version was meant for the WiFi only version of the Nexus 7. Unless someone wants to hack together some RIL support, we''re gonna be radioless for some time...

That's a shame, as it looks fantastic, hopefully Miui will release an official N5 ROM themselves then.
