I use Gyrator and it switches to landscape when I read RSS threads and my emails. I use RealVGA so my font is small mess but it becomes even more so when clear type is switched off in landscape mode automatically. Is this a known issue with the Touch Pro or just Windows mobile in general? Can it be re-enabled through a registry fix? Not a big deal but a small annoyance.
Do not enable ClearType in landscape mode (it can be done through the registry), because you won't see letters when typing!
It is, I suppose, a Windows Mobile bug.
That bug has been addressed in some of the newer builds. You can enable it without problems in some ROMs.
HKLM-System-GDI-ClearTypeSettings value OnOffRotation to be set to zero. Original ROMs has the bug, that you cannot see, what are you typing in LS and menus was bad. Nowadays I have flashed the latest ROMeOS2 v1.80.5 and the problem is gone.

I've got a really weird problem with my TyTnII. When I use the slide out keyboard and the screen is in landscape orientation, I can't see the text I am typing - probably white on white, but as soon as I close the keyboard I can see what I've typed as the text reverts to black. My TyTn is WM6.1 and the only think I've added apart from some programs is the black dialer CAB.
Any ideas guys? Thanks.
this happened to me yesterday ,,, what fixed mine is this :
from settings > find clear type > disable it..
i tried many things first--didnt much help..
you should try it first..
Many thanks for that advice - problem solved,
I had the same when using Cleartype in landscape mode (enabled with Advanced Configuration Tools or KaiserTweak), but Cleartype only in portrait is OK.
The big question is why ClearType no longer works in Landscape when it worked fine before the WM 6.1 upgrade.
This issue has been reported many, many times before. It is most likely due to added support for direct draw. You would think 6.1 would not add new problems, but it seems to be a trade off between performance or function.
This has just started recently... but I've made so many changes, I'm not sure which one affected it. When typing a new or replying to a SMS or email, occasionally (key word there) the letters that I'm typing won't show up. The cursor moves - and if/when I send it, all the letters I've typed will send. Also if I save it as a draft, then re-open it, it shows everything... then I can type a few more letters, and it blanks out again. Any suggestions or help as to what this is? It's only in the message entry part of the screen; I can still see the start menu and bottom menu bars.
Thanks!
If it is only happening in Landscape mode then turn of ClearType font. Cleartype font no longer displays correctly in WM 6.1 in landscape mode. There is a setting in KaiserTweaks that says it will but it only forces something and makes it so text does not display at all.
it's happening in both modes... and cleartype isn't enabled - nor is it in KaiserTweaks. any other suggestions?
its a long shot, but the keyboard hardware speed up cab here might tweak somthing to make it work, its a long shot but it sounds like to me a glitch in the reg....
This is happening to me as well!!!
This is also happening to me. I installed a couple of programs recently including the HTC update to fix the backlight issue, Pocket Sudoku, The RR Keyboard Speed increase cab, Raisak's Flatbar black, and Pocket RAR. Did you install any of these recently?
I did install the RR keyboard - but none of the others and I haven't done the backlight fix. My messages were lagging bigtime - not the stereotypical missing the occasional letter because I type too fast, but I'd click on new sms and it'd literally take 30 seconds or longer to open. I don't know that i've fixed it but I disabled HTC home and HTC homeplugin and then ran the RR keyboard cab, then enabled the HTC apps. I haven't been able to make it mess up again...yet.
*edit* its still having issues. But I can't figure out why sometimes it works just fine and others I literally have to soft reset it to get it to respond.
Since I installed DiamondTweak (source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409540 )
When I open my keyboard in any text edit fields( opera add bookmark field, registry editor fields, etc. EXCEPT in sms it works just fine ), and it switches to landscape mode, I can't see the texts that are present in the boxes.
Example: When in normal mode: I would see RegistryYey with a value 2
but in landsacape mode i only see is < blanks
Any ideas??

Click to collapse
Change Windows
Really, this is well-known issue, but no solution yet...
Change Windows? Change OS? LOL
Oh alryt thanks anyway I hope someone could find it!
landscape cleartype bug....
they still havn't fixed this yet??? how could HTC release a phone with so many bugs that existed in some of the previous roms??
FIXED, I just removed the "Clear Type" fonts!
What do you mean? Did you turn off ClearType in landscape mode?
Well, it fixes text display in landscape, but i meant that nobody managed to get ClearType working in landscape. Without ClearType the text is readable, but looks ugly.
I've set my Touch Diamond up with the Landscape Manila mod and have installed Flip IT (also tried Gyrator, only Flip IT triggered Landscape Manila) - both work as expected, giving me a nice landscape Today screen and rotating other applications as desired.
One big issue I've hit, though, is that on rotation from portrait to landscape, the keyboard breaks and has to be changed. By default, I use the Compact QWERTY keyboard as I prefer it in portrait mode, but when in landscape mode I would like to (and am forced to anyway) use the Full QWERTY keyboard.
Is there a way to set the keyboard to Full QWERTY when the device goes into landscape mode and Compact QWERTY when it goes into portrait mode? I had no luck with searching the entire Diamond forum.
Thanks,
Nick
P.S. For reference, I'm running A.Z.T.O.R. V7 WWE ROM.
Although it's developed for other purposes, PQzII works very well.
Thanks for the tip Obsidian, but I'm not sure I understand how this will fix the issue. It sounds like you've got it working as desired, can you give me any tips on how to set it up properly for the purpose described above?
Thanks,
Nick
It works pretty much as it is described here:
After you start the programm you see a white square in your taskbar
If you press and hold it, you'll be able to configure the settings (which icon to use and many more)
Right on the first tab "CTRL/ALT" you'll be able to choose a SIP for portrait (Port) and another one for landscape (Land)
Hit ok and you're done. The change takes a little time, so be patient.
Ah, I see, so it's still a manual solution. As it stands right now, I can use the keyboard softkey to switch successfully.
Mainly, I'm looking for a way to have the keyboards seamlessly switch when the mode changes, like on the iPhone. I wouldn't mind so much about switching actual keyboards (i.e. Compact QWERTY to Full QWERTY) physically if they would just remain displayed after the switch; right now, on switching modes, the keyboard disappears completely.
Any other ideas out there?
Thanks,
Nick
I would also like this feature as I am used to typing in the Compact Qwerty, when I switch to landscape the Compact Qwerty option disappears. Perhaps there is a registry tweak to enable it?
does anyone know of a way to disable the annoying soft keyboard popup when you are in landscape mode and have the hard keyboard out? i saw an old thread about this but wondered if any concrete solution had been found for the Raphael.
thanks!
take a look at blownfuze.org (pass/user xda/xda).
there is a nullkeyboard.
install it and select as input method, that should fix the problem
Thanks for the response... that does work; however, it isn't exactly a "smart" solution because the setting doesn't rely on the current mode (portrait versus landscape), so when you close the keyboard and switch to portrait, it does not switch out the null keyboard for a working keyboard.
not that I do a lot of typing in the portrait mode...but would be nice to have both options
thanks anyway (and I'm using that for now)
