Opera Mobile 9.5 landscape soft keyboard pop-up - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

does anyone know of a way to disable the annoying soft keyboard popup when you are in landscape mode and have the hard keyboard out? i saw an old thread about this but wondered if any concrete solution had been found for the Raphael.
thanks!

take a look at blownfuze.org (pass/user xda/xda).
there is a nullkeyboard.
install it and select as input method, that should fix the problem

Thanks for the response... that does work; however, it isn't exactly a "smart" solution because the setting doesn't rely on the current mode (portrait versus landscape), so when you close the keyboard and switch to portrait, it does not switch out the null keyboard for a working keyboard.
not that I do a lot of typing in the portrait mode...but would be nice to have both options
thanks anyway (and I'm using that for now)

Screen rotation hassle

I can't seem to be able to find a satisfactory solution for setting the screen orientation.
Personally I don't really like to use the g-sensor for screen orientation. It doesn't seem sensitive enough and there is that delay before it rotates. Also, when holding the Diamond in my lap or resting on a table, it lies too flat for the sensor to rotate the screen. Actually, even when I hold the diamond straight up and tilt it, Opera doesn't always rotate. Sometimes shaking it a bit does the trick, but not always. Maybe I have a bad g-sensor, but I'd still prefer other solutions.
I think what would suit me best is to have a hardware button to toggle between portrait and landscape. I have tried mapping the call button using tweak 21, but it's not working with all apps, at least not with Opera (build 1938).
I'm curious about bepes Gnes, where you can pre-define screen orientation for different apps. However, AFAIK, Gnes only comes with bepes ROM and there's no CAB. Gnes could work well for me, as I always use apps where I input text (SMS, e-mail, Notes) in landscape to be able to use the wider full qwerty keyboard. Opera is trickier, as I would like to be able to change orientation there.
Are there any other options?
How have you solved this?
First, enable landscape mode using the registry tweak.
Then map the long press call button to landscape as a manual toggle button.
Works well for me.

Problem is, when I use this in Opera, I get to thrown out to the browser tab in TF3D.

Do you mean that this works well for you, even in Opera?
If so, what ROM and what Opera build are you using?
Any input on this would be appreciated.

SMS EMAIL screens in landscape --without using GSEN

Hi guys,
I am currently using Gsen to get the SMS and EMAIL screens to display in Landscape mode, this way I find it easier to type using 2 thumbs on the full qwerty keyboard. Unfortunately it's not that good as it often reverts back to portrait and then quits the SMS or EMAIL screen if you happen to move the phone too much.
Therefore I would like to know if there is a regisry key somewhere I could change to get this 2 screens to display in Landscape mode by default.
Thanks.
Look what I found...........

Thanks, that's pretty close to what I need but it means you lose the use of the 'phone' button. Or does it only work witha long press?
Plus I would really like something which doesn't require any intervention.
But thanks again.
Just a little UP.
I am still struggling when using Gsen as it randomly gets back on portrait mode and kicks me out of the SMS app.
Is there a registry key which says if an app is displayed in landscape or portrait?
Cheers

[Q] Automatic Keyboard Switching Between Portrait and Landscape

I've set my Touch Diamond up with the Landscape Manila mod and have installed Flip IT (also tried Gyrator, only Flip IT triggered Landscape Manila) - both work as expected, giving me a nice landscape Today screen and rotating other applications as desired.
One big issue I've hit, though, is that on rotation from portrait to landscape, the keyboard breaks and has to be changed. By default, I use the Compact QWERTY keyboard as I prefer it in portrait mode, but when in landscape mode I would like to (and am forced to anyway) use the Full QWERTY keyboard.
Is there a way to set the keyboard to Full QWERTY when the device goes into landscape mode and Compact QWERTY when it goes into portrait mode? I had no luck with searching the entire Diamond forum.
Thanks,
Nick
P.S. For reference, I'm running A.Z.T.O.R. V7 WWE ROM.
Although it's developed for other purposes, PQzII works very well.
Thanks for the tip Obsidian, but I'm not sure I understand how this will fix the issue. It sounds like you've got it working as desired, can you give me any tips on how to set it up properly for the purpose described above?
Thanks,
Nick
It works pretty much as it is described here:
After you start the programm you see a white square in your taskbar
If you press and hold it, you'll be able to configure the settings (which icon to use and many more)
Right on the first tab "CTRL/ALT" you'll be able to choose a SIP for portrait (Port) and another one for landscape (Land)
Hit ok and you're done. The change takes a little time, so be patient.
Ah, I see, so it's still a manual solution. As it stands right now, I can use the keyboard softkey to switch successfully.
Mainly, I'm looking for a way to have the keyboards seamlessly switch when the mode changes, like on the iPhone. I wouldn't mind so much about switching actual keyboards (i.e. Compact QWERTY to Full QWERTY) physically if they would just remain displayed after the switch; right now, on switching modes, the keyboard disappears completely.
Any other ideas out there?
Thanks,
Nick
I would also like this feature as I am used to typing in the Compact Qwerty, when I switch to landscape the Compact Qwerty option disappears. Perhaps there is a registry tweak to enable it?

Stopping the on-screen keyboard popping up?

i have a touch pro (sorry if this doesn't belong here, but i assumed that they were basically the same) and whenever i go anywhere that has text input, the on-screen keyboard pops up and fills most of the screen, even when I have the inbuilt keyboard popped out.
Is there any way I can get it to stay hidden until I press the show/hide button?
There's a setting in Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool that fixes this.
Unfortunately it doesn't work in Opera due to Opera's bad handling of the keyboard. If you have problems with the SIP popping up in opera in landscape, install nullkb and look for an application that allows you to set different SIPs in portrait and landscape.
Cheers for the quick reply, I'll give these a go.

[Q] The keyboard in landscape

Ok, there's something annoying about the andriod keyboard, that when you enter the landscape mode it show you the keyboard in a fullscreen and that keeps you away from knowing what's going on the background. And it's become a big thing when you use it for chatting alot, unlike the IPhone for example.
I tried to find any apps or any tweaks to modify the keyboard but no luck .
So any ideas
