Ok, there's something annoying about the andriod keyboard, that when you enter the landscape mode it show you the keyboard in a fullscreen and that keeps you away from knowing what's going on the background. And it's become a big thing when you use it for chatting alot, unlike the IPhone for example.
I tried to find any apps or any tweaks to modify the keyboard but no luck .
So any ideas

How do I disable the phone style keyboard, and only have the proper 123/qwerty one, in contacts the keyboard changes to the 3 press phone one, but on other apps is the proper wide one?
touch keyboard changes its layout depending on what app you are using i think.
Can't really answer your question though.. lol sorry :O
I'd still like to lock, or remove some screens.
This bothers me too. I've tried playing with all the various XT9 options.
It would also be nice to have the HTC Touch keyboard work in landscape mode with out having to slide out the keyboard
is there any way to ALWAYS use the touch keyboard? no sometimes the touchkeyboard and sometimes the touch T9 keyboard?
bothers me too... I want to use the keyboard that I can see when there is nothing to type... but the keys are big enough and seperate from each other...

I've gone back to this, even though it is a bit unstable.
does anyone know of a way to disable the annoying soft keyboard popup when you are in landscape mode and have the hard keyboard out? i saw an old thread about this but wondered if any concrete solution had been found for the Raphael.
thanks!
take a look at blownfuze.org (pass/user xda/xda).
there is a nullkeyboard.
install it and select as input method, that should fix the problem
Thanks for the response... that does work; however, it isn't exactly a "smart" solution because the setting doesn't rely on the current mode (portrait versus landscape), so when you close the keyboard and switch to portrait, it does not switch out the null keyboard for a working keyboard.
not that I do a lot of typing in the portrait mode...but would be nice to have both options
thanks anyway (and I'm using that for now)

Hi, this is a thread for the programmers:
The actual keyboards fullfil all the screen and you can only see what you are typing and that is really annoying.
I had an iPhone in my hands the other day and I realised that when my friend put the phone into landscape mode he was still able to see a small part of the screen which was really useful in apps like Whatsapp.
Would it be possible in Android??
PD: sorry for my bad English, I don't use it really much lately and it's getting worse :S.
hi

you have to look in the settings, somewhere is an option to disable fullscreen for the landscape keyboard
Hello, I was wondering this thing: while I am browsing the web with the stock browser in landscape mode, when I press on a textbox, like Google search, the keyboard appears on screen. The thing is, the keyboard takes the whole screen, with a big Textbox above it and the browser is not visible anymore. I'd like to know if there is another keyboard which could take only half of screen and still see the browser window on the other half ?
I dont have this issue.... I use Gingerbread keyboard - available in market free
Hi, try betterkeyboard from the market it's free.
I use hackerskeyboard its great
Smart Keyboard Pro is awesome!
