Bizarre boot up problem after upgrade to wm6.1 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I've strange problem with my BA after upgrade to wm6.1 (no matter which ROM version, all behave in the same way, no matter which radio version either). I have to switch on BA twice before RADIO shows up. That's mean if I switch it on, only by button on the top, there will be no radio. It's shows up after soft reset. For clarification, my switch on procedure looks like this:
1. button on top
2. color stripes shows up (no radio)
3. soft reset
4. color stripes, radio is on
After roll back to WM2003se everything backs to normal.
Is there any possible way to have normal boot up after upgrade?
Best regards,
Mar.S

as found in many other entries here in the forum and in the wiki, this bug/problem has been there on every rom, every build since wm5. it is not bizarre at all. we all have that. takig out the battery is not a legit way to soft reset your device. and i believe "switch on" is not the right term, because if you press the power button on top, it should wake up from stand by.
so, if you are talking about the soft reset behaviour, it is perfectly normal, that the device acts this way.
Chef_Tony

all you have to do to solve it is every time you switch on from a "cool boot" (as in turning on from a point of having taken the battery out) is press the soft reset button.
easy
josh.
this happens on my blue angel with wm6

White screen and no bootloader

I successfully loaded WM6 on my Cingular 8125, but it had some weird issues (today screen didn't fully draw, ringtone screen wouldn't close, etc.) so I decided to go back to the stock ROM. But I thought I'd try a hard reset first and that's where I ran into problems. The screen stays white, but there's a constantly changing series of vertical colored lines that move all over the screen. I can't do a hard reset and can't get into the bootloader. All I get is the shifting white screen and ActiveSync won't see the device, but I get occasional USB bleeps/bloops when i plug the device in.
Any tips on recovering and going back to the original ROM? I've learned my lesson and won't fool with WM6 on my locked G4
Try turning your phone off, and then press and hold the camera button and then press the on button while still holding the camera button and that should put you in to bootloader mode. From there, download and flash the stock ROM from your service provider and see if that works. From your description of what it's doing though, it might actually be a hardware issue that just happened coincidentally at the same time you tried to flash a new ROM. Hopefully it's just software related though for your sake.

After soft reset,My Hima freezes just like that

Perhaps, all of my expert-friends here can diagnose why my hima often freeze everytime I perform a soft-reset here.
It just freezed, stating Windows Mobile 6 Tofclock. And it never moves. So, I always perform hard-reset afterwards
Anybody can tell me the solution to this problem?
I also got the same problems. I charge my PPC and after sometime (5min-1h) it would run again, but I really hate that
Try to flash your rom again
Or start checking installed software
mine has jsut started doing this too
it's been fine for weeks, but this morning it just wouldnt boot. It hung on the alarm this morning so i couldnt cancel it, soft reset and npow wont reboot. hard-reset....same thing
I noticed that WM6 Hima's can behave very weird when power is very low, including:
-refusing to load battery
-refusing soft reset
-refusing hard reset
-refusing to listen to any hardware button or touch screen
-horizontal lines in screen
-very dim backlight
-not refreshing screen information
That last symptom can be very confusing when you load the battery, battery meter clearly shows 100%, you switch off while some battery draining software is still active (minimized), you switch back on, still see battery near 100% but some or all other symptoms are taking place.
So:
-be sure to have low battery reminder active
-be sure to use a taskmanager and exit background programs
-keep backups
-kee backup
-ke backu
-k bac
Had the same problem with Fresh AKU WM6 Rom.
Flashed my Qtek with another ROM, never had the problem again
The most funny:
If I couldn't soft reset, I have to hard reset.
If I perform a full restore with SPB Backup, and then soft reset, new freeze! So I couldn't restore datas after hard reset
That's why I prefer SPB clone, not meant to be a backup program but a way to fast create a bunch of identical devices, but it's actually the best backup I know. Syncing after restoring a clone always gives an error message once, but I never lost a bit of data. And all reminders between the moment of cloning and the moment of restoring the clone have to be dismissed.

May be you are right, when the power is very low the behavior of WM6 is very weird. This is a bug ? Any suggestion to overcome this problem?
i figured it might be a software conflict or something that was breaking it so JUST before i re-installed i had a brainwave and tried this :
Hard reset your pda.
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> NO
When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.
it worked.

Wing - Turns off/locks up on its own

I've had a wing for the past 2 months. Over the past 2 weeks, the phone has been acting wierd. Occasionally, it will be working fine and I'll click the power button to turn off the screen (like I do all the time). Then when I go to turn on the phone, the screen stays black and it locks up and is unresponsive to any keys or sliding out the keyboard and I need to pull the battery. It's not the battery because it is fully charged.
The only 'hack' i've done to it since i've had is the pagepool thing. Any suggestions? I'm tempted to reset it/format it to remove any 'hacks' but not sure how to do so. I'm not sure the reset with the 1234 command will remove the pagepool hack
First of all, why are you pulling the battery? All you have to do to reset the phone is a "soft reset" ... which means putting the stylus into the little hole on the left side of the phone under the volume slider.
You should probably try to hard reset it. (hold in both soft keys while soft resetting) and yes, You'll have to set the pagepool back up.
Do keep in mind this will delete everything off your phone, so be sure to backup any important files before doing so (contacts, pictures..etc..)
I've had this happen to me a few times. I can say this though, when I flashed a new rom onto it it stopped.
If you don't want to flash, try looking in settings>system>key lock and set it to "Lock all buttons except Power button" or possible looking into some auto-locking programs, like S2U2 by A_C.
Good luck

heres a question, what did you set the pagepool to? If you set it to like 32 bajillion or 0, it won't work. also, some of the older pagepool changers don't work with the wm6.1 roms

I Unbricked my 8125

Ok, I know not everyone will have a similar situation and maybe my post is quite late since many might have moved on to other nicer phones ;-)
I was uploading ROM using ShellTool that takes awfully long and my PC (an XP) decided to download updates and reboot all by itself. Needless to say, I was stuck at the boot screen with the IPL, SPL, GSM and the OS screen. The OS was showing 6.0.0.1 and that's it. pressing the Voice Dial and COMM button and resetting didn't help. So out of frustration, I pressed the Camera and Voice Dial buttons and did a reset and Presto, got the Red, Green, Blue with USB screen. I was able to load ATT's WM5 on it. Am sure many will like to know this minor pleasant mishap.
Hard Reset is mentioned here http://www.pocketpccentral.net/help/cingular/8125reset.htm
I would call my trick as the Hard Wiping

It's not a trick, it is called the RGB bootscreen.
not same as RGB, the actual boot.
well, all I got stuck was at the boot screen, not the RGB screen, the screen that just shows the IPL, SPL, GSM and OS numbers with the Cingular screen. I did not find anywhere that showed me to get out of the screen till I accidentally came across it. Actually, the record button is not necessary, just the camera button is fine while pressing the reset and holding it till the RGB screen is back.
Where did you get AT&T's WM5 rom, I am having the same problem. I have the IPL/SPL but can't find the rom, the link in the thread here no longer works.
Thanks.

Startup Blocked following new ROM!

Hi
It's not the first time I flash my TytnII, but this time, I get worry about my phone...
I've tried to put the kaiser_wwe_shifu_v3.0 rom's.
According to doc, I've upgraded Radio and Hard SPL.
Radio is 1.70.19.09
Hard SPL is 3.29.
The upgrade of ROM was OK, but some stranges things appened therefore. The first boot, OK the device is configuring itself, and rebooting.
After the first reboot, the device is still "fresh installed"! So here we go another time to pre-configure it...(time, touch screen...)
After, it seems to be OK, but in fact, I see there's no more memory to completely startup the phone. Because the phone starts, but finally, a program (don't remember which one) says that it cannot start because lack of memory...)
I reboot, and since, me phone doesn't boot at all....
It display the startup page with radio , hard SPL infos, but no more, it seems to be completly block on these steps.
What could I do?
Thanks a lot
Have you tried to flash another ROM?
You can try this bij holding camera button while booting, you should see the tri-color screen. Connect it to your PC and try to flash again or another (maybe stock-rom?) ROM.
Good luck
No funny multi color screeen appears when pressing camera button while booting...
Can't connect a cd reader on it, and erase flash
thanks
Do a hard reset and see if that works, hard reset is hold down left and right softkeys and and hold in reset button with stylus until you get to a screen about resetting the phone, remember to back up any data on phone memory cos you will lose this after a hard reset
I want to second this problem.
After flashing the Radio to "KAIS_RADIO_ONLY_1.71.09.01" and installing PDA corners newest ROM, everything worked fine. The only bug was that when I wanted to turn off the device by holding the power button, after choosing the turn-off option, it just restarted.
Now the phone doesn't start at all. Seems as if there is no power from the battery, while there was enough charge in it. When I connect it to the power plug, the charging/power led turns almost red, never saw that before.
This is not my first ROM-update, but this is the first time I've encountered this problem.
I tried hard and soft resets, removed the battery, tried to connect it to the pc, nothing worked.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Press and hold the camera and the power/ on buttons. While ho[ding both buttons, do a soft reset. Once in bootloader ( tri color ) flash your original stock rom.
What I already tried:
- hard and soft resets
- removed the battery
- tried to connect it to the pc
- connected in the power plug, nothing worked.
- tried the power button+camera+soft reset
I download the the same Rom....I I have the same problem.... I Reset with Pressing Camera and Power method....it went to the Hardspl screen and I load a new ROM...its working fine now.
