i recently installed wmwifirouter on my phone so that i could turn my phone into a wireless router via my 3g connection. after installing it though i havent been able to connect to a wifi connection like i was able to do previously i was wondering if anyone can help me with this problem. i've tried uninstalling wmwifirouter however it hasnt been completely uninstalled and i still can't connect to wifi locations. i was wondering if someone could either help me get rid of wmwifirouter or help me to use it properly so that i can have it work like the program is supposed to and also use my phones wifi when i'm not using wmwifirouter.
I tried the router but it is slow and a battery killer.
Do this - write this text to the manufacturer support of the Wifi Router. I'm sure they'll help really fast their customers - it is a way of keeping business running - just by respecting the ones that buy their stuff
i've contacted wmwifirouter but they havent responded so i'm wondering if someone on here could help me because i would really like to have the ability back of using my wifi again

I have yet again another question.I don't want to sound like I'm completely ignorant as the person who asked how to listen to FM radio on the Tilt/TYTN II (Looks like dutty(?) made it possible though with the assistance of a FM headset or whatever.)
Anyways, I wanted to find out if it is possible to make the Tilt essentially act as a router. I don't think the Tilt/TYTN II can "broadcast" internet through wifi through its' 3G connection, but hopefully I'm wrong. Currently I am tethering it so it won't let me search the forum. Say's something about security issues but that's besides the fact. I tried searching a few days ago but I couldn't find anything useful. I tried ICSControl and that was no help.
Thanks for any info!
This is worth a try: http://www.wmwifirouter.com/
Seems to work well in my experience, though only as an ad-hoc network rather than access point. Great if you want one computer to connect to your Kaiser's internet (3G/HSDPA etc)
One word
WMWifiRouter
I've tried that before but it didn't seem to work.
it seems to be the only one maybe it was a settings issue you had
I've been using WMWiFiRouter and seems like a great tool for sharing the Internet to the friends while on the road.
It work flawlessly for me.
Cheers!

WMWiFiRouter works, but you have to remember is is working as an AD HOC router, not as an access point.
Some devices won't find ad hoc routers, like the PSP. So in those situations you are out of luck.
This is probably a very specific issue that I'm experiencing but hopefully someone out there can help me.
I recently got an HTC Touch Diamond, running WM6.1. I use Internet Sharing on the phone and then connect it to my PC via a USB cable. I can then browse the web from my PC. If I now connect to my office VPN, it seems that the connection times out and / or is very slow. I can't even browse to other PC's on the network via the VPN connection as it times out. But I can ping the PC's so I know I'm definatly on the network.
Now I know what everyone is thinking... our VPN might be screwy. But if I use someone else in the office's phone (running WM6.0) I can connect and there is no problem whatsoever. The only difference is that he is on a different service provider than me (and of course a different phone).
I used to have a SE M600i before this phone and it worked perfectly on that (same service provider as now).
Has anyone experienced anything simular? Or have any ideas what I could check?
I've played around abit and found the following: When I take my SIM card and put it into another HTC running WM6.0 (can't remember the model) it works perfectly and I can browse our intranet sites over the VPN. So the problem is definatly limited to my phone.
I also used Internet Sharing on the other phone and then established the VPN connection from my laptop. I didn't change any of the settings so it is 100% the same on both phones as download from the service provider upon insertion of the SIM card.
On my phone when I'm connected to the VPN I can browse the network shares and download email, but as soon as I try and browse our intranet websites or try to connect to any database (using TOAD etc.) it doesn't seem to be able to retrieve data. Almost like the phone is not able to handle large amounts of data coming through... (i'm just guessing here)
Anyone know of any setting somewhere on the phone that could cause this to happen?
Finally got this working!!
I'm now using WMWiFiRouter to use my phone as a WiFi router and then connect to the internet from my pc. If I then connect to the VPN from my PC everything works fine.
I'm not sure if WMWiFiRouter implements Internet Connection Sharing differently than the normal ICS app on the phone, but it seems to work and it's pretty fast.
Can't believe it took two months - with absolutely no else seeming to have this issue - but I'm glad it's over now!!

so you're not alone in this one...
Hello.
I'm trying to connect two wireless devices (HTC hero with a WM device or PSP for example) and I want to do that without an AP.
As far as I know that's possible with AD-HOC network, but wireless tether on android seems to only share internet and not just create a wireless network and since I don't have data-plan it doesn't let me tether.
I'm basically trying to create a walkie-talkie or a messenger app
So... is it possible to create and AD-HOC connection on my phone (not for the internet)?
Thanks in advance.
couldn't you just call (walkie talkie) or sms (messenger) the other wireless device?
Sorry but that was a really dumb reply.
The purpose is to make free calls and send free messages if you haven't figured that out already and even though I'm not going to be actually using this, it's interesting to try and I could also finally put some use to my PSP.
Also it has to be *specifically* wifi.
As far as I know the Nintendo-DS supports something like this. Is that true?
I thought of this aswell.
Could be very usefull!
Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker, first time thread-starter, and I hope there is a simple solution to this.
This is more of a proof-of-concept question, and since the PS3 is capable of connecting to a tethering application I figured an XB could as well.
Recently, I updated my Captivate's ROM to the SREv1.3.1c (it was the ROM before he renamed it to Cognition). One of the added benefits was the addition of the Mobile Access POint, which is way better than PDANet in my opinion, but I digress.
Anyway, I've managed to turn the AP on and get it to connect to a PS3 with no issues and very little lag, which was awesome. However, the XBox is being a pain in the ***. i can go to my network connections on the XB, and my wireless attachment "sees" the connection just fine. It also connects and pulls both a IP and DNS server address. I even get 5 bars of great signal.
But when I run a XBL test, when it tries to connect to the internet it craps the bed and does nothing. Now, I've seen people get XBL to connect over similar tethering apps, even PDANet with its shaky connection issues, but I can't seem to figure this one out. As far as I can tell, maybe 3G has too high of a latency to be compatable, but I figured I'd ask the experts of XDA. Can anyone help?
Did I forget to say please or something? Any pointers?
Hey just wondering what is your configuration. like are you connecting with wi-fi from the phone, do you have a laptop to use? that is one of the easiest ways. or are you just usb direct into the console?
Well presently I'm using MobileAP which broadcasts a wifi signal that my laptop can pick up (it's how I'm typing this at the moment as well). It can be seen, like I said, but the XB won't get past the internet part of the diagnostic test.
I also had PDAnet installed a while ago so I know how to usb tether but couldnt get that to work on XBL either.
I got a problem with the wifi after I install the rom id Andro-rc3
I replace wpa_suplicant, in order to get an ad-hoc connection. and it worked. before that, my phone does not even detect the ad-hoc. and successfully
I can connect to wifi. surf smoothly. and others. but for some applications do not. like facebook. instagram. and certainly I never managed to upload anything. unless I move to 3G networks
can anybody help me?
