How can I disable the internal devise lock? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
if I press the end button for serveral seconds, my Diamond will be locked.
I'm using S2U2 so i don't need the internal lock system. Cause i have an app
that is using the end button. But if the devise lock himself...
How can I disable it?

Settings -> System. Should be something like "Hold End Call Button" (I'm not using an english ROM, so I'm not sure what it's called), there you can select what happens. I'm not sure if it's possible to turn off any action though.

Thank you.
But I can't disable it.

With a registry editor modify the following key:
"HKCU\Software\HTC\LongPressEndKey\AutoExecute" = "6".
This will disable the long press end key behaviour.
NOTE: That key can be various values:
AutoExecute = 0 -> quick menu is displayed when long pressing the end key.
AutoExecute = 1 -> Flight mode is toggled when long pressing the end key.
AutoExecute = 2 -> Device is locked when long pressing the end key.
AutoExecute = 3 -> Data connection is terminated when long pressing the end key.
AutoExecute = 4 -> Vibration is toggled when long pressing the end key.
AutoExecute = 5 -> Settings for the endkey program is invoked when long pressing the end key.
Th value of 6 turns out to do nothing

I think have three buttons
I am using AE Button Plus. UI is not that intuitive, and it's not free, but it allows OK button remapping (among others.) Here are my button functions:
Voice speed dial button: 1 press: Run App (Fullscreen Keyboard), 2 presses: Run App (Photo Contacts), 3 presses, Run App (AE Button Plus), Press and hold: Rotate Screen (Can rotate in any of four orientations)
Camera button: 1 press: M$ Voice Command, 2 presses: Camera, 3 presses: CorePlayer, Press and Hold: Xn ViewPocket (photo viewer)
OK button: 1 press: Close App, 2 Presses: Switch App, 3 presses: Soft Reset, Press and Hold: (doesn't seem to work)
Left soft key: 1 press: Left softkey (but mapped to WMP on today screen through Tweaks2K2), 2 presses: TomTom 6, 3 presses: Resco File Explorer, Press and Hold: StarCaddy (I'm a golfer)
Right Soft Key: Could remap all, but "Right Soft Key" command within AE ButtonPlus doesn't seem to work and I don't want to loose that button's soft key functionality. So I've left that one alone.
Start Menu Key: AE button plus cannot seem to add both the OK button and the Start Menu key at the same time - so this one is not touched either.
It also doesn't seem to play nice with CorePlayer: AE dominates and doesn't let other programs remap while they are open. I'm adjusting though.
Hope this helps. I've tried other mappers (VITO didn't work at all for me, and Double Launcher limited me to only 2 buttons) and this is the best I could find to date.
If anyone else has a different or better solution, please post it so we can all get maximum functionality from our little pets!!!

AE Button Plus - List Your Configuation

I think this would be a good place for people to exchange their button mapping configurations using AE Button.
Add yours, and maybe pick up a few good ideas from fellow members.
Hmmm, well I'm still tweaking, but currently:
button 1: IE on single click, Opera Mini on double click
button 2: "Messaging" on single click, strait to SMS on double-click, and Mundu on triple-click
button 3: Start Menu on single-click, next app on double, and Task Manager on press/hold
Button 4: Ok/Close on single click, Close active app on press/hold
Left Softkey: Copy on single-click, wifi on/off on double click
Right Softkey: Paste on single click, vibration mode on/off on double, Open TomTom on triple.
Everything else is stock. I'm starting to question triple-clicks though... sometimes I get the timing wrong, and it gets perceived as a double-click. If I don't acquire more natuaral accuracy there, I may move the triples to press/holds.
Button 1: Single-Opera // Double-PIE
Button 2: No Change
Button 3: Single-BlueTooth Off/On // Double-WiFi Off/On // Hold-Close DU Connections
Button 4: Single-Show Actions Menu // Hold-Show Today Screen
Button 5: Single-Microsoft Voice Command // Double-QCalc // Hold-Camera
Button 6: Single-Total Commander // Double-TomTom
Button 6 Hold: Comm Manager
I don't know the button numbers, so I shall only name them.
start menu button
single - start menu
press and hold - my own launcher with about 20 apps in it.
Mail button
single -mail
Press and hold - A2DP on
Left soft-key
Single - softkey
press and hold - MS voice command
voice command button
single press - my 20 icon finger-friendly launcher
press and hold - the cyberon voice command
Side OK key
single press - OK
long press - runs a mort script which backs out of apps which dont work properly with the OK key, such as the Audio manager library.
Thats all, but together it makes for a pretty good one-handed experience.

I have experienced problems with reprogramming side enter (roller) and green & red call buttons
How are you guys remapping the PTT button. When I remap it it clones the map of the camera button. IE. Whatever I map to camera button gets activated by the ptt button. I've tried using PTT fix, and using the add button option in AE. Any sugestions?
Button1 - Single=PIE, Double=OperaMini, Long=InternetSharing
Button2 - Single=Messaging, Double=PocketCM, Tripple=PiWeek, Long=New SMS Message
Button3 - Single=Start Menu, Double=ToggleBT Power, Tripple=ToggleWiFi Power, Long=CommManager
Button4 - Single=OK/Close, Double=progMXConverter, Tripple=prog12C Calc, Long=prog Dictionary

Quick Link to Password Lock Phone?

Hey guys,
Was wondering if theres a button you can push to activate the password lock instead of having to wait for the timer to go. Thanks!
-Anthony
hold end call for a few seconds(red phone button)
ekw,
as I mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1780468 holding the end call button just locks the keys, but/and
- "any child who can read" is able to unlock it (unlock & *)
- this way of locking doesn't ask/require a password/PIN to unlock the device
I'm using the standard HTC Rom.. maybe your's is different?
Mine: HTC TyTN II (Dutch)
R: 1.27.12.11
G: 22.45.88.07H
D: 1.56.00.00
Use htc endkey then . Holding red phone button locks mine!!(maybe i changed it a long time ago and forgot )
ekw,
does 'HTC endkey' invokes the 'enter PIN code' screen to appear or just tap 'unlock' and then 'tap here to unlock' on the screen or use '*'?
i can confirm the using "HTC Endkey" to lock the device DOES NOT invoke the pin entry screen when you have the pin/password entry enabled. The only sure fire way around this is to set the pin entry/password "prompt if device is unused for" to 0 minutes; this way whenever the display is automatically OR manually turned off (through power button or device lock (assigned to a key etc)) when the phone is woken it will always ask for the pin to be entered.

I'm "happy" that you can confirm our 'problem'
Fact is.. I've put the screen to turn off after 2 minutes of non-activity, but when I'm for instance at home, the device shouldn't lock itself with a password when the screen is turned off.
So I'm trying to find a way to be able to enable/disable the device lock by for exemple tapping an icon on the today screen or hitting an assigned key.
Briefly said.. see attached screencapture..
instead of opening that screen (settings, lock, <entering the password>) and enable/disable the option.. I want that (!) enabling/disabling to be done by hitting an assigned key which edits a registry settings..
I do think that the option which you'll see in the screencapture is being remembered in the registry.
I'm willing to find the registry key and programming a 'tool' myself which will edit the registry key.. but I must do some searching (programming for xda).

Locking the Diamond

I was wondering is there a app that will lock my Diamond by clicking a shortcut?
I don't want S2u2 it's buggy imo. But i would just like to use the std. locking through a shortcut.
Pressing and holding the hang-up button just doesn't work for me.
If pressing and holding a button for 2 seconds is too hard for you then perhaps you should consider buying a slave to do it for you....
It isn't the fact that i don't wanna push it.
But after using it one week i already notice that the pad hangs to the hang-up button a heightdifference of a mm is already present.
I don't like that so i'd rather push a shortcut.
I press the power button briefly, not sure if that's lock, but it works for me.
chech the thread "Lock Screen or put into "standby"? Best set-up?", post 9 & 10.

You could do HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight\AutoDeviceLock Enable from 0 to 1 and everytime your backlight goes off (which is quite quick with the Diamond) the device will automatically lock
Ensure that Long Press End Key is set to lock your device (Start -> Settings -> System -> Long Press End Key -> Automatically execute the seleted action: Lock device.
Next open a registry editing program and navigate to HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\HomeLSKPath and enter \windows\endkey.exe.
Then navigate to HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\HomeLSKText and enter Lock (or whatever text you want to be displayed on the button).
Save the changes and soft-reset the device (or disable and re-enable HTC Touch Flow 3D) to implement the change.
Personally i've started using Sensor Lock which seems to work really well

Locks and unlocks by rotating the screen. Has lots of nice options and locks the hardware buttons too which is good.
PocketShield looks pretty cool. It's around $11 if you decide to buy it.

remap home key and ok key

Hi, I'd like to remap the hard keys as follows:
- Home key -> Start menu
- Back arrow key -> OK button
any clues about what registry entries are these two hidden under?
Telling me the button code is enough... thanks.
Maybe this one helps. Can't test it myself as i have no Diamond yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400732
The OK-button might be:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C2
nope, no avail - have checked 40C1 to 40C7 but the only thing that fires an event is the green phone long press (40C6), others no avail (
new info - I have found the key codes using AE Button Plus as follows:
- Home button = #00ED (+no flag)
- Back button = #405C (+Win flag)
continuing research...
( No, I simply do not want to use AE Button Plus... )
Any luck on the research?
afaik, once you run touch 3d. The home key will always overwrite by it.....
HButton
I am wondering about the hardware key's to
I use a program (Hbutton) to give more functions to a hardwere button,
only key in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keys called "40C6" (the call button can be used.
does anybody know how to add the rest of the hardware buttons?
- back
- ok/enter
- home
- end/ divice lock (does someone know how to change the hold time)
- up and down?

I have ended up using AE Button plus. It doesn't initially list the buttons, but you can add them from the file menu.
Now I have control of all my buttons.
but jamesd256, do you know a solution without using AEBplus ? maybe just in modifying registry....
