How to connect xda 2 to TV - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Windows Mobile 6 Upgrading

hi every1!
Does anyone kn0w h0w to connect xda 2 to a tv? Wat av cable should i use? I juz wana watch some movies i've downloaded on my xda to my tv..is it possible?
Thanks!

Yes is possible

I think
You could find one for our xda fr0m Ebay, for the av cable that you were looking,,for, or if your fr0m manila try to go to greenhils, you could also search for some, upgrade for our xda,

Assuming you are still on WM2003 then search on EBay for the Backpack. This will provide you with a CF slot and connection to VGA, S-Video and RGB Composite. It doesn't work with WM5 or 6 though.

Install imate PDA2 ROM, IR range will be incresed !!!

I have just discovered that the infradred strength of SPV M1500/XDA IIi is not as weak as people thought. After installing Imate PDA2 rom on my brother's XDA IIi, now I can controll my TV and DVD player in distance of nearly 4 metres. How cool is this?
What is the actual spec of the ROM you used (e.g. radio version etc etc)?
and what software for that you use?
can you describe it in details please?
I used the latest Imate rom with Novii Remote Deluxe. 4 metres away from TV and DVD player, work perfectly ok which I was not able to do with XDA IIi ROM.
Mine qtek 2020i works up to 2 meters, maybe little more... but not 4 and not even 3 meters...=((
Did anyone try to remove black cover from IR and see if work distance increases? I wanted to try - but have no tools to remove it - and doing by only hands - Iam afraid to break it and loose my warranty..=((
The black cover just pops off without need for any tools.
I have not got remote program installed yet!
I know, I just was afraid that I can break it...
recently I removed cover and tested IR without cover.Removing it increased IR working distance from to 2.5 to almost 4 meters... not much but 4 meters suits my needs.
What software do you use?
Thanks!

Possible to hack Dualcor cPC Windows Mobile 5.0?

Hi everyone!
This is definitely off-topic as the Dualcor cPC is not even in commercial production/circulation.
I managed to purchase a used engineering unit & will be getting it in a week's time.
I'm interested to know if it's at all possible to hack the cPC to upgrade it to WM6.x?
It is currently running WM5.0 with custom video driver developed by Dualcor for the 5" 800x480 display.
Anyone with any idea where I should start?
The WM5.0 is running on Intel's PXA-263 400MHz CPU with 128Mb RAM & 1Gb ROM.
I welcome any ideas or feedback regarding if this is possible.
Thanks!

Nobody knows about this?
Hmm...
Well, as it's ARM-based and running wm5, yes, you can port wm6 to it, but for that you'll need to find a way to upload custom firmware (i.e. you need an official wm5.0 firmware and the updater utility)

sp3dev,
Thanks for the tip!
I do not have an official WM5 update for the cPC because it was not released but what if I could dump the ROM? Would that help? Where do I begin? As for the Update utillity, I really do not have an idea. Will MTTY be able to reveal anything?
TIA!

Hi josefcrist!
I got it on eBay but they are very rare.
These were only really released as engineering units to limited clients so I was fortunate to get it on eBay.

Okay...where do I go from here?
Okay, I finally got hold of my Dualcor cPC & have been able to play around with it for the past few days quite extensively.
Two things I need to do are (1) Replace the internal main Li-ion battery & backup battery (WM5.0) (2) Possibly replace the CPU fan because it's really noisy.
From the specs, it appears this unit is an earlier engineering model & not the ones that were circulated for field test.
Mine has 30Gb 4200rpm HDD for Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 SP2 (1Gb DDR-400 RAM) & 512Mb ROM for Windows Mobile 5.0 (128Mb RAM).
My only obstacle is to find out a way to open up the device. I cannot see any visible holes for any screws to hold the unit together. The only clue is the four silver knobs at the front of the unit.
Where do I go from here?
I'm really keen on upgrading to WM 6.x. The CPU & hardware should be capable of running WM 6.x.

Thanks for the generous offer but I'll keep this unit. I've a Touch Pro myself too so that won't be useful to me either.
I managed to open up the unit to take a look inside & managed to pull out the internal Li-ion battery pack. It's huge. It sits right in the middle of the unit along with the 30Gb 1.8" Hitachi HDD. And it's really tight inside there...not much room for hacking/adding additional hardware like the Asus EeePC 70x.
Here's some pictures...enjoy.
You are lucky dude... i really wanted to have one of those.... and hoped it was produced... but it never made it to production line.... Just bit jealous lol

Thanks...I'll keep reminding myself to count my blessings daily.
Now, need to find someone who's able to replace the Li-ion cells with usable good quality ones. It looks like 4 standard Nokia cells lined together side my side. That should provide a total of 18V & approximately 3-4Ah.
Took a dive with Windows 7 RTM but due to the lack of drivers, it left the device unusable. Thankfully I imaged the drive before wiping it out so I'm back to Windows XP TPC 2005.
One accessory I hope to add is a descent BT 2.0 adapter that works in XP & WM via the USB port. I discovered that one of my old Billionton BT 1.2 adapter worked in XP & WM and it uses the Broadcom chipset. I'm hoping to get a mini USB BT adapter.
Any suggestion?

BT stack for WM5.0
Okay, finally got myself a mini USB Bluetooth 2.0+EDR adapter.
It works flawlessly on Windows XP TPC 2005 with my Thinkoutside BT keyboard & Kensington BT mouse but I'm having difficulty using it in WM5.0.
The adapter has a CSR chipset.
Anyone know of a WM BT stack that is compatible with the CSR chipset that I can use on the WM ROM?
A picture of the BT adapter is in the attachment.
Update:
Found out that there is a bthcsr.dll built into the ROM already & the registry settings indicate it's a PnP driver. The BT adapter works when I have it plugged in when in Windows XP TPC 2005 & then switch over to WM5.0. But it's performance is poor & it is difficult to maintain an active connection with the adapter. I suspect this driver is not fully compatible with the new CSR chipset.
512Mb x 8 = 4Gb?
Interestingly, I found out that the chips in the fifth dis-assembly picture are Samsung DDR2 DRAM chips.
K4T51083QC-ZCD5 Samsung Electronics 512Mb C-die DDR2 SDRAM
But why are there 8 of these?
Datasheet: http://www.samsung.com/global/syste...nt/512Mbit/K4T51043QC/ds_k4t51xx3qc_rev19.pdf
From the datasheet, it's obvious that it's two sets of 128Mx4 which gives 1Gb of DRAM for the Windows XP.

Hi...
I've forgotten about this thread & just dropped by today.
Nothing much has changed...still on WM5.0.
Did try to install Windows 7 Basic on it but due to missing drivers, had severe stability issues.
Now back to original OS.
leocaste,
I did not have any issue with installing programs on the WM5.0.
What types of program were you trying to install?
As for rebooting WM5.0, I too had issues with that.
It would not reboot without pressing the reset button.
If I run some power management program, it would freeze there.
BTW, do you have the VGA adapter?
Mine is missing the adapter & I've yet to find a compatible replacement.
Any clue as to where I can get one?

[DEVS ONLY] I Have a Dream...

Hi everyone
I have an idea..and i want to share to you all, especially with DEVS.
I hope i'm writing within the correct section first of all
So my dream is to use our mobile phone as PC.
Let me show you the idea..
I was thinking to install through an application or something like that (i mean also with a dual boot) an OS like Ubuntu.
How to use it?
we have wifi for internet access
bluethoot for keyboard and mouse
HDMI port to share the video
furthermore we have two camera (for example to do a videocall with skype)
3,5mm jack port for headphone
and also the microphone
Usage could be this. Link the phone through HDMI port to a display (i mean a monitor for computer)..turn on the mobile phone with ubuntu and connecting keyboard and mouse through bluethoot and in the end start the internet connection with the wifi...the display of the phone should be keep turned off (for temperature..energy consumption etc)
I think that some smart DEV will be able to do that. So why not? I'm sure i'll use it...and our Optimus Dual should be beyond a phone..also a PC!
thx for reading.
Maybe this idea could seems stupid..but for ppl that love technology and modding..it's an awesome way to use the own smartphone

The Tegra 2 chip is awesome, but, for me atleast, it's wasted on a 4" screen.

If you want a near-pc-experience you have brought the wrong phone. You should have brought the Motorola Atrix. It runs a distribution of Ubuntu which is customized by Motorola. You could eat your heart out with that phone...
Well, if we wait for icecream port (of cm ) then we should have an acceptable experience when connecting 2x on through hdmi and use as input Bluetooth mouse/keyboard.
I certainly hope so!

First Tablet

Hi all, Just a quick question to all of you using tablets these days. First I just got nexus 7 for my b'day and now im on the market for .... everything. I would like to know if you guys experienced some issues with log me in on your tablet. What are best ways to use and utilise the tablet. Also another question is a cable, can i use MHL or Micro HDMI cable with this tablet or is that a no-no? If so would the same cable work with my GNex? What apps would you recommend and generally anything related to this. Any input suggestion or, in the end, discussion is welcomed.
Edit#2 can you connect USB drives or sticks to it, if so how?

MHL/HDMI is a nono yes. The only way I'm aware of it being done is through a Raspberry Pi, you may aswell forget about that now
I wouldn't use LogMeIn to be honest, take a look at SplashTop HD
Finally, you need a USB-OTG (on the go), then a normal memory stick/usb hard drive. Download an App called StickMount(Rooted) or Nexus Media Importer (Non-Rooted) and away you go.
PS - Welcome to the best little tablet !

Thanks for such a quick reply! Shame that there is no MHL capabilities. I sort of need log me in for work purpouses. I tried on the phone and the app worked flawlessly but on the baled graphic was gone and frankly speaking unusable.
USB OTG just plug it it, than my stick, run my app and off it works?
Can i connect keyboard and mouse same way?
Cheers

(Q) Android 4.2 Bluetooth HID with Sense?

Has anyone heard anything about HTC having the ability to have bluetooth HID connectivity with the newer version of 4.2 ?
I know it's not out just yet too.
It's something which has always been missing from sense phones and something i've always missed.
Even when an AOSP rom comes out which has the connectivity there, i always seem to miss sense and then cut my losses and gone back.
Any info would be great, rumours, official responses, anything.
Cheers.
EDIT: So sorry, posted in the wrong section, meh.
Please move mod, sorry
In theory they should do! If I can connect a wired controller via OTG cable, then why can't I with Bluetooth controllers? What if we use Bluetooth adapters?

Wired yea, but unfortunately not the same thing as bluetooth, and a fair point about the dongle, although you would need the relevant drivers and seeing as though it was difficult to get some BT dongles working on windows vista even when those dongle were made for windows (including XP) i see little hope for drivers being discovered let alone created for android.
The point is, HTC have always blocked the bluetooth HID part of their bluetooth stack and thus we cannot connect to things like the ps3 controller for six axis support,, just try wiimote or six axis and you'll see what i mean.
I find it ridiculous that the likes of the asus prime and the s3 can have this and we can't, just doesn't make sense, or maybe they've struck a deal not to?? i have no idea.
Another thing (which is off topic) the CRT animation has apparently been removed, just like it was on the One X.
Another thing i find confusing.
If anyone else has anything else to offer, i'd love to hear it.
Cheers.
