Anyone have r1a or r2a bare firmware? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was looking around to see if I could find the original Xperia firmware, whether it be R1A or R2A generic X1i but without the uneccessary items like the different panels and stuff like that. Just so we can put what we want on there and have it as light as possible.
I saw Jacks 2.1 seems to be bare but wasn't sure. Still haven't decided which was better yet, the R1a or the R2a but forsure I like the original rom over the TF3D as I get full landscape support. If anyone knows where to find a light R1a/R2a or a way to remove the things I do not need, that would be great.
Thanks!

I haven't changed my ROM, how can you tell what version you're running?

Did you read the sticky?

Yes I did read the sticky. I don't see where it shows a R1A or R2A firmware without the extra add-ons. I see the original R1A and R2A but I basically am looking for a "Lite" R1A or R2A.

Okay which Rom is better Molski's 2.26 or the new 3.00?

Hello, I am as green as grass when it comes to this stuff. I just loaded Molski's 2.26 Rom and i am so happy with the way it works compared to the stock rom. But Now i hear he has a new Rom. Now when it comes to this stuff, i really dont have a clue. So i want to find out from the experienced people out there. Which Rom is better to use Skype, and Slingmobile, as well as the internet. Which ever it is Molski is the man.
2.26 is quicker in my experience (I don't know what other users do but I just open the windows folder with each rom I use to see how long it takes to open)
3.2 has all the same molski tweaks progs etc but the difference is the aku, see this link (first google i found) for an idea of aku differences

Depends individually some roms work for some people and some dont. Its a personal choice.I use moliski last edition(2.26) and have had no problems with it till now.Try some of them and which ever suits you the best.....
I mean right now everything is working perfectly. But because this is his new Rom, should i upgrade to the new Rom, or will i lose something i have now. Like i said i am very new to this stuff, and i still use my Nextel i 1000 plus, because it still works. So if it will just improve what i have then i will change, but if it will take away something i need to use Skype, slingmobile, and the internet. Then i will just stay put. Clueless.

nX1i Lightspeed vs Touch-it v4.0 Landscape vs Generic RA10

Hi everybody. I have a X1i that I have been using for 4 months or so. I really hated the stock rom. I lurked around this forum for a little while after reading about it somewhere (forgot where). Saw all these glorious roms that I was afraid to try cause I had no idea was HARD SPL was, until this morning when I flashed the TOUCH-IT 4.0 Landscape rom. I have a few questions if you guys can help me
Im fairly new here so I hope you can forgive my question if its been asked before. I searched back a dozen or so pages and couldnt find a similar thread.
Which ROM is most user friendly and stable so far? The nX1i Lightspeed or Touch-IT Landscape 4.0 or the Generic RA10 UK rom?
Currently I am using the Touch-IT Landscape by ITJE and i love it. Much better than the original rom my xperia was shipped with. Video is noticeably better.
However, if i do not need touch-flo, should I use the generic RA10 rom or nX1i rom instead?
Also, for youtube, i kept reading that I need to install the youtube.cab from blackstone. Where can I get this cab? I've tried installing previous youtube.cab but I guess they were the wrong version cause youtube doesnt work and the panel does not show up.
previously I tried cabs located

You can find the correct youtube.cab and the panel for it in my collection topic (in my signature), it should work fine on WWE roms installing the cab first and the panel after.
If im already using TOUCH-IT v4.0 Landscape, do I still need the WVGAFix?

WVGAFix is for such applications that cannot run in WVGA only in QVGA,VGA or other. You can change the screen's resolution on the X1 with this, so you might need this for some apps.
despite to itje's great work, new tflo3d isn't 100% stable and some crash happens. If you need a full and stable rom stay with itje' 3.5 or something else but don't choose a rom with new manila landscape, we have to wait a bit more before using it every day
Also, generic rom sucks, now we have many great rom from our cookers, choose one of them and be happy
Unfortunately, which is best is very hard to answer because everyone has different requirements and perceptions of what is good.
I have tried Jack's roms, itje's roms and now the nx1 rom.
For me the most important thing is my perception of responsiveness. I also want to have a highly customizable device and therefore tf3d is not ideal. Given this, the nx1 rom seems to be the best for me. All the roms seemed reasonably stable but I am still playing around with it so much that it is difficult to know whether any problems are caused by the software I am loading or the rom.
The best thing to do would be to read the comments people are leaving regarding the different roms and then if you like the sound of it, give one a go. Unfortunately this is a time consuming process.
d0z3y, can You paste here link to nx1 rom or itje ?
And question from me:
Is there available rom, that it is stable, very fast (graphic too) and have generic panels or it's nice to be a SPB panel or Manila HD panel ?
Please help me, bacause i've found difficulty with understanding every information about roms in topics. I dont speak english very well.
Can You answer me with simple english ?
TIA
You should just look in the route forum of this thread and you can find them all there, and many more.......

Here you will find all available Roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477801 including links to nx1 rom or itje.
I can personally advice you to try all different roms. In 1 day you can flash about 4-5 Roms, play with them and understand which one is your best. This is the only way to really understand what you need.
However, up to me:
- jack v2.1 is the best "naked" Rom to start from. It has almost nothing, so you can fully customize it.
- Jack v2.3 has tf3d, so you get smooth graphic but it sometimes freeze.
- nx1 is like jackv2.1 but with some apps in, panels preloaded and stable/fast.
So, as you can see, and as everyone told you, you have to try them to find the most suitable. It's like a pair of shoes: you ahv eto try them to tell which one fits you.
[email protected] - thank You a lot ! Now i undestand it.
Can You tell me- is there a huge difference between new standard soft (R2A) and these roms like nx1 etc.? With stable, fast, and freeze/do not freeze?

My 2 cents:
Standard (Stock) ROM R2A is stable and acceptable.
Jack v2.1 is optimezed to be fast & stable but you have no programs.
Jack v2.3 & nx1 are stable in 90% of cases and faster than sotck ROM, with a nice fluid interface.
Those are my "pair of shoes". I use them, because I want a stable, fast, fully customizable ROM.
Now just ask yourself: what am I looking for? do I want to search and install programs on my own, or just find them inside a ROM? I want a cool interface? I want to try the coolest, latest ROM out here (most probably unstable) or go for a stable ROM?
Answer yourself, and then go into ervey ROM post (you can do it, you'll just have to visit 10 post...), read the first three post with the description of the ROM and choose the one that best fit your answers.
That's all I can do, I can not tell you install this or that.

Thanks! You help me a lot!
My xperia come to me in Friday, here- in Poland i pay for it a lot of many... Now i had a HTC Kaiser and it's OK to me (with HyperDragon soft)
I prefer programs include a ROM, because I dont know where to find all of theme in Web (maybe can You help me? MP3 trimmer, new core player etc etc).
And the last question. In standard rom (R2A) and tweaks from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459328
Will i have this problem?:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4_oONTZ3S0
I'll be pleasure to have a fast animation without "frame by frame" efect, fast and smoothly...
It is possible in standard rom with/without these tweaks or I must to change ROM (for ex. Jack v2.3) ?
P.S. When I find a rom with [SWE] its mean that this rom are with only Swedish language, not English?

Wow... never ever seen an Xperia that slow. Mine has never been, I am sure that you will never experience that slow frame by frame effect, unless you are running 5 programs simultaneously (man, even a Core Quad extreme would slow down if you load 10 programs at one time!!!)
P.S.: Jack v2.3 doesn't have Panel Manager as default. It has Touch Flow 3D (TF3d). However, you can always install panel manager on your own.

Yes, that's the international code. It represents the ROM language.
Have a good (flashing) time!

Hi again!
This effect appear without running any programs (i've seen other video on youtube, where somebody first had shown that any programs are running, and next gone panels and opened qwerty- the same effect, frame by frame... What is wrong with these xperia? In brand new does it work fine?
Unfortunatly i'm looking for ROM with Panel Manager and deuflat panels. And manila 3d too. So is there any rom like that? (of course in English, because my language will be in about 1month in oryginal SE ROM).
TIA for answer!
imho panels by default are crap slow and unresponsive, it consumes a lot of ram. New upcoming version promises opengl sdk and should be better, will see... For now I get rid of panels as soon as possible every time I flash

Best ROM to use for SPB mobile shell 3.0

I am starting to get pretty bored of TouchFlo3d and the 6.5 Titanium interface so I was excited to try out SPB mobile shell 3.0 but I don't know what ROM I should flash before I get it. Does anyone have any suggestions? maybe the stock ROM? maybe something else for speed? maybe a 6.5 rom? anyone got any suggestions of what ROM would work best with it? Thanks, any advise is much appreciated
SPB MS 3 works great with the stock roms R2A and R3A and it is very fast. I would recommend you version 3.01, as there is huge improvement in rotation speed (landscape to portrait and vice versa). I'm not sure though that you you need specific rom to launch SPB Mobile shell. It should be working fine with any X1 rom. Just give it a try.
I use MS 3.01 with my stock ROM. And although I have still R1A, it works great for me. Speedwise I'm absolutely happy.
Why I never patch? Well, never change a running system!
Sweet Thanks man. Does anyone see a downside to using the stock rom? I have been using custom ROMs for a while now and it would be weird to go back to the stock ROM. Anyone else have any input?
Why go back to stock ROM? I assume you can easily install MS3 on a cooked ROM. Mine works on a stock ROM, but I have removed the startup files for the panels, since I don;t use them at all.
Yeah, I would prefer to stick with a cooked ROM because they always seem to be the best. However I am ask WHICH one would be the best? if I can't come up with an answer I will probably go with the R3A just because... yeah I don't know
Recommendation
I'm using Gtrab's Barebones R3.61 - WM6.5 Build 21815 with SPB Mobile 3.01. Works very well, nice and quick, can add extra HTC apps and panels via cab installation, highly recommended.
if You are using panels then I would recommend generic r3a uk rom. fast, stable, no bugs. You'll have to tweak it a bit though, but I guess everyone uses xperia tweak these days, isn't it?
I am using TouchIT v8 (non TF3D) with MS3, an excellent combo, very stable and itje's excellent cooked rom.

New Vodafone Uk Rom

Has anyone downloaded this? Is it 6.5 any extra apps over the standard htc rom
yes, just flashed now, all 6.5 apps, nothing voda specific, nothing extra .. but it's 2.1 manila, and I kinda got used to the 2.5 features from cooked roms, especially NRG, so I think I will go back .. on a positive note, landscape works well, since it's 2.1.
Already discussed in the "Official 6.5 Sticky".
Closed.

[Q] Few basic questions please! For X1

I love this forum it has been helpful. But I am still new at a lot of this.
I have installed a few ROM'S on my X1. I have the Energy reference ROM right now, trying to keep the weight down on it.
I have searched a lot and haven’t found any definitive answers for the following questions.
I would like to have a Rom that is based on the Touch Pro 2. My wife has a TP2 that was bought unlocked unbranded. It is still running a stock ROM. I know its WM 6.5 but not sure about the sense version it has. I believe it’s an older version. On the People tab it is more like a flip picture for the contacts. And also the music and mail tabs.
Is there a list or reference chart that gives details on version numbers? And how to tell what version a stock ROM is?
Thank you.
I think the build number i.e. 29001 is build number of Windows Mobile that's not the WM Version. so 29001 is newer than 28000 but both of them is WM6.5.5. There's a connection between that number (so proper range is showing the version of WM) i.e. 25xxx-29xxx is WM6.5.5 or 21xxx-23xxx is WM6.5.1, but I'm not a devs so I don't know much about it exactly. If you want to flash from one chef (person/people who make ROM i.e. 826x ROM by Willyung, Russell Eclair ROM buy Russell Eclair), just choose the higher one because it means that the WM is also upgraded and updated to the max power and functionality.
Stock ROM is an original ROM from manufacture- Sony Ericsson. While Custom ROM isn't officially coming out from SE but it is cooked (made) by some kind and genius person/s.
Stock ROM is used in case you want to restore your phone to an original condition for proper purpose i.e. claiming for warranty.
Hope this is helpful...
Thank you for the info.
I think what I am after is a basic 6.5 ROM that matches the TP2 pretty close. Minus all the extra stuff that drags it down.
I like the way the sense feels better than the newer updated ones. Might be bugs but that is ok.
I don’t use the phone to any great usage, just basic calls, very very few text and GPS.
This is the info off the TP2 maybe someone might be able to know what’s what off it.
1.87.421.0 (67729) wwe ROM
10.01.09 date
4.49.25.17 radio
61.44tc.25.32u protocall version
Thank you
