I love this forum it has been helpful. But I am still new at a lot of this.
I have installed a few ROM'S on my X1. I have the Energy reference ROM right now, trying to keep the weight down on it.
I have searched a lot and haven’t found any definitive answers for the following questions.
I would like to have a Rom that is based on the Touch Pro 2. My wife has a TP2 that was bought unlocked unbranded. It is still running a stock ROM. I know its WM 6.5 but not sure about the sense version it has. I believe it’s an older version. On the People tab it is more like a flip picture for the contacts. And also the music and mail tabs.
Is there a list or reference chart that gives details on version numbers? And how to tell what version a stock ROM is?
Thank you.
I think the build number i.e. 29001 is build number of Windows Mobile that's not the WM Version. so 29001 is newer than 28000 but both of them is WM6.5.5. There's a connection between that number (so proper range is showing the version of WM) i.e. 25xxx-29xxx is WM6.5.5 or 21xxx-23xxx is WM6.5.1, but I'm not a devs so I don't know much about it exactly. If you want to flash from one chef (person/people who make ROM i.e. 826x ROM by Willyung, Russell Eclair ROM buy Russell Eclair), just choose the higher one because it means that the WM is also upgraded and updated to the max power and functionality.
Stock ROM is an original ROM from manufacture- Sony Ericsson. While Custom ROM isn't officially coming out from SE but it is cooked (made) by some kind and genius person/s.
Stock ROM is used in case you want to restore your phone to an original condition for proper purpose i.e. claiming for warranty.
Hope this is helpful...
Thank you for the info.
I think what I am after is a basic 6.5 ROM that matches the TP2 pretty close. Minus all the extra stuff that drags it down.
I like the way the sense feels better than the newer updated ones. Might be bugs but that is ok.
I don’t use the phone to any great usage, just basic calls, very very few text and GPS.
This is the info off the TP2 maybe someone might be able to know what’s what off it.
1.87.421.0 (67729) wwe ROM
10.01.09 date
4.49.25.17 radio
61.44tc.25.32u protocall version
Thank you

Hi All,
I have had my Touch HD for about 6 months now with the standard Orange ROM, I updated to the latest 1.59 Orange ROM last week but am interested in updating to one of the custom efforts out there to see what they are like.
I have no problem with performing the update but there are so many ROMS to choose from and i was hoping i could piggy back on the opinions of the forum members to help me choose which one to use.
I am mainly a business type user so i only use my phone for:
Making calls - Obivously
Organising appointments
Listening to music
Using TomTom
I do not use the phone on the net generally, i occassionaly watch video on there but not too bothered about that.
So I am looking for a ROM with the best calendar & contact functionality, would like a ROM which inlcudes voice recognition for my contacts without me having to set them all up myself (as in the stock ROM) if possible. Obviously i would like this to run as smoothly as possible, especially with TomTom and with nice, stable bluetooth/WiFi connectivity.
Look forward to your comments !
Cheers
Mark
if you want a WM 6.5 ROM id try one from Energy maybe?
can view his post here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524032
but if your happy with WM 6.1 i would go with Miris 6.1 - manila 2.5 rom (its the one i use)
link here

but it all depends on what you like i find.
Opionated threads are generally frowned upon and closed in XDA as everyone is different, therefore having different opinions, likes & dislikes.
Best advice I can offer you is do a little research, see what criteria in a rom your looking for:
*wm6.1 or wm6.5
*manila 2.0, 2.1 or 2.5
*lite or heavy rom (i.e. no apps or loads of apps)
Also have a look at this benchmark thread. Once you have decided what criteria you want, try a few roms which fit the bill and make your own conclusion of what best suits you, after all, only you can do this!!
Hi all, new here and very interested in Kaiser customization and modding!
My very basic question is...what is really the BEST WinMo 6.5 ROM for the Kaiser? My model is the ATT Tilt...dont think that matters though.
I have installed a few different ROMs and while some of them are OK most have UI problems (weird side orientation, stretch icons, very unresponsive touch commands, etc...) and just dont seem to work "right" for lack of a better word.
Ive been searching for just the plain jane vanilla WinMo 6.5 ROM as I am looking to get just the basic OS and install the programs I want and need...not what someone else thinks is good. I cant seem to find one though...all the "vanilla" versions of ROMs Ive found seem to still have unnecessary programs (RAM cleaner, various themes, unresponsive programs, etc...) and aren't really "vanilla"...
Also, as a side question...when I was researching about flashing my phone a lot of people said to make sure to note my radio version and what not...except for each ROM Ive tried my radio information and everything else associated with it havent change...is this normal? I must admit that I currently do not use ATT and cant test the phones working status (got the phone via trade) and was wondering if the original radio version still the same, it should work no problem right?
Thanks to everyone that is willing to help a n00b!
Well, as far as BEST is concerned...there really is no best ROM out there...this question has been asked time and time again on more than likely everyone of these forums on XDA, and the answer is always the same. Keep flashing until you find one that YOU like and that suits YOUR everyday needs. I for example like the fully loaded STAXX STYLES WM 6.5.1 ROM...which you may end up hateing because of all the preinstalled stuff. Just flash a bunch of different ones until you find what you like.
And in regards to your radio question...some ROMs include an upgraded or different radio, and some do not. Most of the time the recommended radio ROM will be listed on the ROMs download thread. Different runs of the Kaiser require different radio ROMs in order for WiFi, GPS, GPRS and the camera to function. So basically, flash to a ROM that you wan't to try, and test it with the radio ROM that you already have installed. If everything functions correctly, there is no real reason to change it. If something does NOT function, try flashing to the radio ROM that the ROM cook reccomends...and if none is recommended simply use the latest one.
The best ROM is subjective and a personal opinion..
The best thing you can do is look @ popular threads and see what's peoples opinions, then flash, flash, flash till you find the ROM your happy to use for everyday purpose.
Just as we do with all best ROM threads, thread closed.
Hi everyone,
I'm the (proud?) owner of a HTC Blackstone 'Touch HD', and nowadays I don't know what to think about my phone. Of course, I've done all the flashing and tweaking, but it's still not satisfying me. Although the Blackstone Android development seems very promising to me, I also have my doubts about a 'final' build in the future.
The real problem I have is slow texting, Opera opening slow and I am just dealing with an in-responsive system.
The HTC Touch HD is obviously a very slow phone, having tried different ROMs (Topix, Energy, Miri, Dutty and some more), both Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5. I fell in love for the agenda of 6.5 (the Sense edition, I have no clue if it's implanted in WM), so I don't want to ever go back to 6.1. Though, I realize that, if I want a faster phone, I should probably go back and downgrade my phone. What I am looking for is a ROM which satisfy me with speed and agility (no restarts all the time, because memory is slipping), and can provide me my valuable agenda in a pleasant way.
I would like if some of you could give me some valuable advise. Because I'm about to throw my phone in the trashcan.
Before you are confronting me with some of the greatest ROMs; I'm not 'really' in love with Sense UI, and if turning it off and using the standard WM 6.5 menu, speeds up my phone, I will do it. But is the build-in agenda satisfying enough for my needs?
In the far future I probably will buy an iPhone 3GS (4G?), just for the fact that is a phone which doens't crash and goes slow all the time. I will be throwing a little tweaker inside of me away, sadly.
Regards,
Aram (the Netherlands)
Currently using: Miri WM 6.5 | 18.0 WWE with Manila version 2.5.19222911.0 and Radio version 1.17.25.09 (should I update this?). Using an Exchange-server for my e-mail and agenda (Google Mail)!
Did you try searchig for a Calendar-Agenda Application to install before Upgrading or downgrading your phone's core software? Custom Rom don't bring anything new that Blackstone could do already as it came out of the box, imho. Then again other people do like to customize it a lot. if you do want to bin your phone, send it my way, I'll give it a home.
What I really liked about the WM6.5 roms was and still is the fact that in a single click I can look up my appointments and notes.
You are quite right about the 'why would you flash'-thing. Sometimes I've the feeling that I really downgraded my phone, instead of giving it the boost I intended to.
Again this is an opinionated query which is frowned upon in XDA as people will have different views on which is best creating endless long threads with no real result. For these reasons I am closng this thread
Is there a ROM for Blackstone without any HTC application?
Besides the FM Radio application I found most of them annoying/performance degrading. Manila (IMHO) is a beast in terms of resource consumption, it's the first thing I disable after flashing. I'd like to install my own replacements for them, but they seem to be everywhere, starting from the notification bar to the messaging system and such.
I'm interested in both 21895 and 23544 versions, if anyone knows of such ROM please direct me to them. I found some Lite versions on the wiki page, but they are rather old (build 21051) and I'd like something more recent.
Thanks
Here is a Light ROM without the most HTC staff deletet. (But it's a german ROM)

Mark....
Umm... I really intend learning german in the following months, but I'm not prepared to deal with a OS in german right now
I would be great if chefs realeased their kitchens/config files (some sort of open-source), that way I could build myself a custom ROM. Starting from scratch is a little bit too much for me to handle.
i just got a x1. These are the details:
OS version
5.2.28008
manilla version
2.1.19202517.0
rom version
1.05.931.21 WWE
Radio version
1.14.25.15
im happy with the interface. but i find a bit slow and pulling when operating. my display keyboard acts weird from time to time and program to program. my sliding keyboard cannot be used on opera. it changes tab after typing a letter. i cant add favourites on opera.
So i need a better rom. what are my options ?
- is there wm7 available for x1 ?
- can u suggest me the best roms available in wm6.5 ?
- what is the speciality of the "generic" roms ? why should i use that ?

Click to collapse
so it's a used x1 that already has a custom rom on
1. no, only up to wm6.5.x builds as of now
2. no, as I don't have an idea what you want from that rom (speed, eyecandy, smoothness, latest tech, cooked in apps,...?) and what your core areas of usage will be; I like to advice on reading the first post of rom threads you might like, there you find what the chef is cooking for and cooking with, get some screen shots and a general impression; then try some and decide for yourself, best way, believe me
3. they are faster as they are only wm6.1, nothing ported from other devices (like e.g. wm6.5), no (or little) apps cooked in,... not much to play with either
cheers
