Is there a way to pull the .apk for the paid apps from our phone and allow others to download and install it on theirs?
If we can I think we should start a thread where we can download them. Kind of like P2P sharing but instead of music its paid apps.
this thread will be locked soooo quick. this isnt a warez site. support the devs
you said it!
Hello Fellow XDA Brothers....
I am a hardcore XDA Fan and I can see many users have started posting their download link to other forums.
This is re-directing all the traffic of Xda.... as slowly XDA fans would stop logging on here and go on these sites.
We should take some steps to avoid this....
Wanted your views...
Even for normal users its really irritating to click on the link register then download ? how many clicks are we adding for one download ?
sometimes it is required so that you can download peoples work that directly conflicts in xda's rules, but they can't say anything about it since it is just a link to another site if you get the download from that site, but if you were to grab it directly off of xda then it would go against one of the rules.
or the person doesn't want their work on xda because of the attitudes that a lot of the newer users have that they are entitled to every little thing, and that is the only way you can access their work.
Simple answer, it's because it requires so much bandwidth, which costs money. Each ROM is 30-90mb, and that's only for Android, WinMo coud be bigger, I don't know. The site is kinda slow as it is (I'm not complaining, just saying) so I highly doubt large uploads will be enabled any time soon (current limit is 8mb for zip).
Humm...
Hey thanks for sharing your thoughts....
I have never posted a ROM or Apps... was nt having idea of rules
Still I could see that files were uploaded on servers like mediafire, rapidshare etc..
But now each member posts on different forums... which i did not like frankly...
So many devs come here on XDA and thats the reason why so many things are happening....
United we stand divided we fall.....
XDA Owners should think on this so everyone stays here...
I figured with all the smart folks that this would be the place to get an answer. I'm one of those who is missing a couple paid apps from the market. Not a HUGE deal but I want them back at some point. Anyone here know the real deal?
Here's a link with a little more info
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=25b86f2ce5166c3c&hl=en
I looked for a thread around here but couldn't find one. If there is one please direct me there and apologies if this is has already been posted.
My apologies as I think I got my answer in that thread I linked to. Someone just contacted one of the developers and it appears the missing apps are copy protected apps and google appears to be blaming devs and devs are blaming google.
All I know is I want my paid apps. Surely they'll get this straightened out...
Hi All,
I would appreciate help with the following questions:
1 - Will rooting allow me to buy from the Pay-Android Market? I am in SOuth Africa and we only have the Free stuff
2 - Will rooting allow me to install all apps and games, including pay appd/games? Like an iPhone Jailbreak? So I wont have to pay
3 - Are there any down sides to rooting? Or adverse Side effects?
Also if possible can someone link me to a thread were I can ascertain all the necessary software to root my i9000
Thanks in advance,
Obi~
P.S. Please can a mod edit my title - 1st Time Rooter Help Please
Answer to question 1. Rooting your device will allow you to download an app called Eris Market Fix which will allow you to run the Market in your region of the world however, if you dont have the market already you will need to search for the .apk file from someone here at XDA to get it. If you do have the market already but just cant buy paid apps then that is ok cause the Eris Market Fix app is free.
Answer to question 2. No... Rooting is not quite like jailbreaking the iphone and it will not allow you to get paid apps from the market for free. Also - Pirating software is NOT tolerated here on XDA so I would not even discuss it again for sake of not getting yourself banned from the site.
What it MAY do is provide you with the ability to download "non-market" apps if you dont already have the ability to do so.
Answer to question 3. Check the Galaxy S Android Development forum for the z4root app. This is the easiest and fastest way to root. Be advised that it will not work on some firmwares however.
Thanks for the feedback
Was unawares of the Piracy issue, wont happen again.
As I said I am happy to pay, as soon as I get the pay market
No problem... Good luck... And happy Market Shopping when you get it all worked out!!!

He wasn't asking about warez or downloading ROM's, he was asking about a problem he was having with an app. I haven't heard this being against policy in a general Q&A forum, although you might be correct in him being able to find better help on a psx4droid site.
Sorry, i didn't mean to upset anyone. I've search for a while and i haven't been able to find a good solid answer.
Hate to break it to you guys, but downloading PSX roms or any game roms is illegal. It is the same response he would get at any respectable emulation scene. Please note I never impersonated a mod, only made a suggestion to lock the thread as this is clearly warez and he did not obtain the software he is asking for assistance with legally; done. If the mods of XDA feel differently, to each their own.
From the forum rules!
6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, either pay or find your cracks and serials somewhere else. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained.

he is asking about psx4droid which is obtained straight from market. the app is not working, yank the mod-wanna-be stick outta yer ass and forget a rom was mentioned. none of that rule applies, he said nothing about obtaining or promoting piracy nor is he asking for a tutorial on stealing. ease up.
I had this issue on my cappy, seems i had to much junk running in the bg. i didn't have enough memory to get the thing running right, after i cleared all the ghosts out with a task manager it ran just fine.

Read the bold. All I'm saying is if you want to ask for support on PSX4droid; fine, but leave the ROM buddy and the downloading psx bios file out next time, because it is illegal, and against the forum rules. He is promoting piracy by telling us where the games came from, as anyone reading this post will easily come to the conclusion "I can get free PSX games on ROM Buddy?!". Read the rules, abide by them, that's why they're there, and they're there for a reason. XDA isn't that kind of place.
A lot of games won't work on PSX4Droid at all, it is an emulator and no emulator is perfect, especially one as gimmicky as PSX4Droid. If no game loads, the bios file may be the problem, or the actual game itself. Best thing to do to troubleshoot such problems is to run a game that is confirmed to work, from a clean source. If it doesn't work, it's most likely the former.
im not gonna get into a semantics war with you about the words you chose not to bold. he did nothing wrong, let that drop. and thank you for actually adding in some advice that answers his question
