ICR for Kaiser (2 side call recording software) - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

BIG thanks to Shmilson and rr69 for their work!!!
There's a new kid on the block, rr69's modded cab without the new drivers... I'd try this first (read his post to understand why):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3511566&postcount=128
rr69's lite cab, just the driver, no graphics:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=162761&d=1236030009
Shmilsons QVGA skinned cab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=162900&d=1236070663
Check out mskips thread with a alternative solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493118
Here's how to set up ICR on your Kaiser :
1. Install the cab of your choice (Shmilsons for QVGA skinned version or rr69 if you are happy with your current skin).
2. Install Vito Audio Notes or any recording software of your choice (I'm using Vito Audio Notes for touch 1.02)
3. Soft reset
4. Make a call, when your'e connected use the menu (bottom left corner) and choose start recording. Wait a couple of seconds, then hang up.
5. Start your recording software and put it to automatic record calls
6. DONE!
If it's not working for you, you could try this:
1. Install .NET compact framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3c6b-42f1-9fd9-0041345b3385&displaylang=en
2. If the "Start Recording" doesn't appear, try to uninstall your dialer skinn (or turn it off), soft reset. Try to record a call again, if it works you can reinstall your skinn.
People are looking for the reason why it's working for some and just not at all for others. As soon we have a clue I'll post it here.
Notes:
I don't have to do anything after a soft reset, Vito records everything by default.
Vito records all calls WITH BOTH YOUR OWN AND THE CALLERS VOICE, Vito will name the files according to your contacts (or info in google maps if your'e using any numbers from google).
Now you can record your calls and listen to both parties without any annoying hassle like using the speakerphone!!!
There's no beeps or any other way the caller can hear that your'e recording with this setup... Illegal in some countries, it's your responsibility! =)
Below: Picture shows Vito Audio Notes Touch interface...

no go
Unfortunately my Kaiser says that ICR in not valid windows application on matter what I do. It seem the problem is in ICR.exe because other components install just fine. And of course Vito records only me speaking.
Anyway the fact that it is possible to record both parties makes me optimistic. Maybe the day will come that I will have my advanced, expensive WMphone do what every cheap simple eric or nokia can do for over 5 years
I run stock Orange rom 6.0 (maybe that's a problem)

It say's that for me too... Ignore it, you don't need to open the app, it's just for settings anyways. Just follow the steps and use Vito (or resco or what you prefer).
It still mess up your graphics though.

do you have a screenshot of ICR?
I have been using Vito AudioNotes (on my Kaiser) for months now and when i want to record a call i must have it on Speakerphone, but i simply cover the speaker phone with my finger to reduce the volume so others dont listen in on the conversation.
pls show me what the ICR graphic is?
Thanks

I don't have a clue what it looks like, can't open it. The phone just use the drivers from the cab, I'm using Vito Audio Notes and it works like a charm. Callers and my own voice crystal clear. Had some minor glitches on some calls during the day but overall fantastic!

Any developers reading this? would be nice with a clean cab for kaiser! =)

Since I haven't come up with a solution to the graphic problem I simple disabled caller skin with Advanced Config and using Windows ugly thing for the time beeing... AT least it works, recording calls are more important (for me anyways).

I'm confused, what's this doing that Vito doesn't do? Is it going between the two? I know on the Kaiser most other recording software can't record the outgoing conversation, so no question there, just wondering how this enables it to work.
And is it progressing? No messing with the phone? And does it stay forever, or do you have to do this each reset? Each call?

roomy and i editing icr program stuff to work on kaiser so hang tight

Whoooopieee! Thanks a million!

Yes, this goes in between... There was an old audio driver for windows called virtual audio cable, it catched the sound (data) before it reached the audiocard and then you could route it to where ever you liked. This is pretty much the same thing.
So you can use Vito or any other app. The ICR just reroute the audio so that it ends up in the right place.
You have to use 'start recording' from the dialer menu after every soft reset but just for the first call. After that the 'driver' is activated and Vito will recieve audio for both parties of a conversation.

Hopefully it can be worked out so this is not a battery drain, and can be automated.
I wonder why Vito etc don't do this themselves?

I haven't noticed any battery drain and Iv'e set up Vito to record every call for the last 3 days so it looks promising.
Vito and/or Resco probably would if they could, this driver comes from HTC and I guess it's easier for the hardware vendor to create this than for a software developer. HTC don't need to make it work for any other brand or model, just for the device they choose. That's why... I guess... But what do I know, I'm nothing but a sound engineer...

Great find! This program does exactly what I need it to do, and with Audio Notes, I can maintain a record of all conversations. Very useful indeed! It's already saved me a couple of times by recording conversations where someone told me a phone number that I had to remember because I didn't have any way to write it down while driving.
I tried installing MBarvian's Opal Phone Canvas, and that seems to fix the graphics problem. The recording still works as before. Also, I can run the ICR executable, and it seems to be very similar to Audio Notes, although the vga graphics don't display correctly on my tilt...

How to uninstall IRC?
How can i revert back, my battery status and caller skin?

Hi All,
*** STRIPPED ICR CAB ***
Started off by downloading the cab mentioned in the starting post. Then i removed all the skin and other irrelevant file and registry entries in the cabfile. Which left me with a working ICR "lite" cabfile.
Just follow the same procedure described in the start post but instead use this cab.
It won't ruin the phoneskin because it has been stripped.
No guarantees, but this cab works fine for me..

I tested that, and it does automaticly work after a soft reset. Here's what i did until now.
(The Sashimi part and hard reset is optional)
I installed the cabfile (ICRKaiser.cab) and Vito audionotes 1.37 on my tytnII. Started audionotes, and edited the settings so the app automaticly records calls on my stroragecard in low quality mp3 format. Did a soft reset, and made the first call and selected "Start Recording" from the menu in the "normal" phone app. (Ended the call after a few seconds)
All the calls after that ar automaticly recorded by audionotes even after a softreset. Both sides are recorded... (You dont have to use "Start Recording" from the phone app. Vito does it all automaticly.)
--------------------
Sashimi automation! (see: http://www.winmo-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4)
copied:
"\Program Files\VITO\Audionotes\settings.ini" to
"Storage Card\SASHIMI\AUTO\Root\Program Files\VITO\Audionotes\settings.ini"
Copied
"ICRKaiser.cab" and "VitoAudioNotes.cab" to
"Storage Card\SASHIMI\AUTO\CAB\ICRKaiser.cab"
"Storage Card\SASHIMI\AUTO\CAB\VitoAudioNotes.cab"
------------------------
So when i do a hard reset, and Sashimi has installed the cabfiles and copied the ini file, every works right away. and survives softresets
B.t.w. if you dont want the automatic call recording function you can skip the Vito Audionotes installation. The recording option in the Phone menu also works for two side call recording. It saves the recording in: "\My Documents\Recording\"

I've updated the "lite" CAB mentioned above with the ICR applet that was originally on the CAB floating around and skinned it to QVGA. Only for portrait nowbut I'll try to update it once more if I have the time. I've also overwrote the BEEP and BEEPBEEP sounds with silent WAV files, so no sound is made when starting/stopping recordings.
The applet let's user set format of recording (AMR or WAV) and if to save them on memory or card. It then shows a list of recorded conversations that can be played on the app itself.
It can be used stand-alone if one wants to manually start recording selected conversations or with the procedure on the first post of this thread for the automatic mode.
And as RR69 said here: "No guarantees, but this cab works fine for me..
"
And to think about a few months ago, no one could believe we could do ICR on HTC devices! Ha!
shmilson

Cool,
I just stripped the whole vga ICR application out of the cabfile. Nice to see that someone took the time to reskin it to qvga.
The only thing i would like to find out if the volume of the recordings can be set to be a bit louder.

Ring Delay Fix works

Hiya ladies & gentlemen,
Ok, yesterday I installed with WM5 Fix .cab and converted my tones into .wav. Now my phone rings within or JUST after the first ring on the calling phone. But my problem is the playback sounds slightly jerky and not fluent. Any ideas?
For FIX look here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258109
Just install the .cab from the first post and ignore the rest and convert tones to .wav. I use mediacoder available free.
Works 100%
yup works like a charm. I do notice it first "stuter" about the first .5 of a second though (like the program loading it) but after that plays fine.
I wonder if this drains battery or not as in the post it says leave the program dormant in the background or something like that.
I'm just happy doesn't have to wait 3 rings anymore before the phone actually makes a sound
not too sure if it drains battery but it does work and i rather not miss those phone calls.
I've noticed the slight jutter in the first second also. I tried converting my .wav into a smaller file which helped but even the smallest of files it still exists.
tested and working, but sound isn't fluid.
i use this on all roms i have flashed
yes it does stutter for 0.5 of a second
but then you don't miss anymore calls
What happens if you convert your ringtone to .wma ? Or can this tweak only be used with.wav files ?
i belive wma will work the same as a wav.....
i am sure i read that on here
yes, its quite specific about wav. it must be wav. but who knows? its worth a try.
I don't need the .wav files in the .cab in this thread. I only need to know how to fix the delay.
Are the registry changes in the .cab the same as the ones available in, for example, Diamond Tweak or this registry tweak? If so: it doesn't work, only with default WM dialer and I hate that thing. Or rather: I like my slide-to-answer TF3D dialer

Can X1 use the In Call Recording software in original beta ROM’s of the Touch HD?

I have tried to install the program, but when I run it, an error occurred.
Maybe some one in this X1 forum can fix it?

In Call Recording has always been a mythical beast on HTC devices, briefly glimpsed but never captured.
It seems now things are set to change. While the original beta ROM’s of the HTC Touch HD shipped with In Call Recording enabled, the software was stripped from shipping devices in the west, likely for legal reasons.
Fortunately the device did ship in China and Taiwan with the software included, and the cab file to enable it is now available for download on XDA-Developers. The cab is however in Chinese, but a .mui file is also available (to be copied into your \windows directory) to translate the interface to English.
To record a conversation one simply need to start recording from the in call phone menu. The phone call is recorded in low quality highly compressed .amr format, stored in \my documents\my recordings and can be easily transferred to the desktop for archiving.
In addition HTC provided a nice user interface to access your phone calls on the device itself, almost reminiscent of Apple’s visual voice mail.
Listen to an example recording here. (Can be opened in Quicktime)

Interestingly, i just downloaded the CAB file, installed it, then tried to unzip the MUI files and place them in the /Windows directory, but the MUI files were already there!
I do not know if someone added the correct MUI files to the .cab file already, or if the X1 already has them there beforehand, but I did not need to extract/add the additional MUI files on my X1.

I installed your cab and it records calls fine. I can find the recordings with File Explorer. But when I try to run the "InCall Recorder" under the Programs then it gives me an error:
ICR.exe The file 'ICR' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found.
Any ideas, what to check?
How is it installed?

in theory rather easy,
1. install the blackstone dialer (http://norti.hu/xperia/touch_hd_dialer.zip)
2. install ICR
3. rename \windows\ICR.exe.0409.mui to ICR.exe.####.mui whereas #### is your language code (if your ROM is an english one you don't need to rename the file as 0409 is english)
Dutch 0413
French 040c
German 0407
Italian 0410
4. softreset
5. in the dialer during a call you can click menu->"start recording"
that's all
in practice for me when i click start recording nothing happens.
any ideas? (i'am using the uk R2A ROM)

Have you tried to take a look at the ICR program?
It should be placed in your start menu.
Well, I have tried this thing and still I can record my own voice only.
As this is working for Diamond, whose ICR function was unavaialble prior to HD's addon - I am just wondering if X1 could add the ICR function just like Diamond....
(Let's hope this is not a Hardware limitation...)
I'm a bit confused, so by using this software, can we record voice from both sides?
It'd be a breakthrough to wm phones if both sides can be recorded.
Thanks.
Have tried everything, nothing seems to work
I have tried everything to make my X1 Xperia record incoming calls. Can't install ICR software, etc -see just some instructions string on the screen and nothing else-. Can someone please attach the right file(s) and clearly explain how to install the software -either English or Spanish-. Tried Audio Vitonotes but incoming audio is almost inaudible-.
Just a comment, if recording phone calls in the US is illegal... come on, there are other hundreds countries where it is not.. that means BILLIONS people..

Patricio Alonso

I'm uisng VITO Audio Notes Touch and it can autorecord all calls. If it is not on speaker, the voice of the person you're talking to is recorded at a lower volume, but at a satisfying quality.
But it is not integrated in the dialer, you have to set it on autorecord.
One thing to notice is that many of Taiwanese on another forum reported that can simply use *any* of the software to record voices from both party.
It is found out that the jelly case (silicon case) is helping them to deliver the voice from the earpiece to the microphone and hence being able to record to both parties. Well it is not software/hardware issue of X1...then.
darthmelk are you using one or you are using any other special techniques?
Thanks

Hi!
I've installed ICR and Touch HD dialer, looks like everything is OK, but voice of caller is still very quiet.
BTW during my experiments I have found one interesting thing. Even with handsfree attached to the phone, ICR still record caller's voice. In this case acoustic way of recording is impossible, so it means that ICR record caller's voice through the hardware inside the phone. But I don't understand why voice in this case is very quiet
And one more thought. AEGphone is able to record caller's voice from line on my Xperia. Quality is not good but it is another problem. It is fact that caller's voice is loud and it is recorded from line. Only some type of intermittence is present. There are links to 2 .dll files:
Driver Enumeration:
WAV1: \windows\wavedev.dll (654584)
WAV8: \windows\bta2dp.dll (51392)

Recording a phone call finaly possible

Hi,
I don't understand why this hasn't cought everybodies attention, but recording a phone call is now possible. Both sides of the conversation are recorded in very good quality. It all seems to be made possible by the ICR (InCall Recording) software from the Touch HD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457808) although I can confirm that also my Resco Audio Recorder is now able to record both sides of the conversation in great quality, so it does now automaticly for all my calls.
It's really weird that everyone was under the impression that call recording wasn't possible due to hardware limitations, while all the time we just needed a little piece of software from HTC.
It's just a headsup, if it's common knowledge I'm sorry to have bothered you .
Cheers,
Cacti
I've look through the eniture thread...and there seems to be a lot of different files for different languages and such.
Could you post links directly to the files needed for the Raphael in English?
Thanks!

Be sure you got PhoneCansas (Slide to Answer/Ignore) installed. Some ROMs have it installed (eg: RomeOS).
You can download it separately: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3124498&postcount=76
After you install ICR restart the device.
Make a call, press Menu and go to latest item in the list "Start recording"..
Then go to the ICR application and press Play (I can't see anything but the previous screen... something is wrong here)
Anyway, unfortunately it doesn't record normally "two ways". It seems that it records only from mic . This means that you hardly can hear the other person if you are'nt using speakerphone.
I have the GSM version of Touch Pro. What about you le_cactus?
It's also part of the recently ripped and posted Sprint Diamond ROM.
VITO audio notes
I've found another good application.
This is the best app for audio recording so far. Also to hear the otherside talking.

Ok just gave it a try. Only succeeded in recording my own voice during a call. Did'nt record what the other person was saying.
Looked for any settings but didn't find any one. Did you do something special to record both sides ?
Just an FYI, but here in California in the US, both parties must be made aware the call is being recorded and BOTH parties must agree to it, if one party is not made aware or does not agree it is illegal to record. Laws on this vary from state to state.

How?
Hi,
Thanks for the info. Just what I was looking for. But how...?
Who got it working on their Touch Pro?
How to install, and how to use?
Is it possible to record all calls automatically, and then later decide which to delete (to save memory)?
Sorry if I ask obvious questions, but I went through three threads and it is not clear to me what to install, how, etc.
Thanks for your help.
I ask because I installed
ICR_51spsoft_com.cab
and it installs OK, needed an unrequested restart, further no obvious problems. Doesn't seem to record any side.. Changed settings around to WAV and Card, but no records show up of my test calls.
I also tried:

Filename: Noonski-XDA ICR-VGA-MONX.cab
Filesize: 610.3 KB
Description: ICR (InCall Recording) for HTC Diamond & Touch Pro (VGA). May work on HD too. ICR dumped from a HD ROM.
It installs, doesn't seem to need a restart (did anyway), but when opening the program it doesn't show on screen, except for menu button (bottom left) and OK/close button (top right). I tried a test call anyway, no luck.
This version says to work on Touch Pro.. but not on mine. Yours?
So, any advice?

Phone call recording for TP

Hi all,
After a lot of lost time trying to record my calls I said maybe someone already know the answer.
I have installed on TP: ROMeOS 1.70.3 and RADIO 1.02.25.28...very happy with them. I checked the post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457808&page=1 and I installed on my TP next programs for call recording:
- ICR, made by HTC. Works, but, like the next programs, doesn't record the voice of the other person (only your voice)
- VITO Audio Notes 4.51. The same like ICR (only your voice) but i like it more as he can automatic record the call. You just have to select that on menu . Also he write file name with the name of the contact that you talked, the date and hour
- Resco Audio Recorder 1.37. Same like Vito, but the file name is different and i didn't know how to make it right for me
I changed the RADIO (i thought can change something) to version 1.08.25.20M1, but no change: I can only record my voice.... I know, if i set up "Speakerphone" option i will have both, but this is not the normal way meaning this will activate the speakerphone and everyone will hear your conversation and the recording is using only the microphone anyway...
Any ideea?
P.S. If you want i can post the soft above
I would post this in the ROMEOS thread for your version. Someone there is much more likely to help you. Plus, you don't want to get yelled at by the mods for starting a new thread when it should have been posted somewhere else.

Voice Recorder for X1

Is there Voice Recorder Software for Xperia?
If yes, where can i download the best voice recorder software?
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/audiorecorder/
Did YOU try that yourself? They do certainly NOT list the X1 as compatible, or any HTC phone respectively.
I already tried another program, forgot the name, something like call recorder... but of course, did NOT work with X1.
this one partly works...
..but you can almost only hear yourself in the recordings. So it's sadly only recording the mic on it's own side.
yeah plane voice recording should be the same on all pocketpc's as
mic input is handled the same way
but recording phone conversations is another matter
it's rare that apps supported devices mean anything
unless it's software which use special features like camera or gps or
the likes
in most cases pocketpc apps is like pc apps and works on all pocketpc's
Might be true in some cases, but don't you think that if a phone would be REALLY supported, the seller would state that???!!!! Its called marketing.
So if some software works on some phones that are not stated as supported, is coincidence or plain luck on the side of the user.
One can only get back to the seller with a complaint or support question when that phone is listed. Else, out of luck
I've got Resco on my X1 right now. have used it to record lots of notes etc.
As well as used it to listen to audio books (It has a book mark feature)
I haven't tried it to record a phone call yet, will try it tomorrow when i get time
Sounds good, kindly DO report. Greetings!
"but don't you think that if a phone would be REALLY supported, the seller would state that???!!!!"
lol
do you realise how many pocketpc have been released since ms started using arm platform 90% of software works on all of them
the seller would be hard pressed to list them all or even know all of their names
you can compare it with a computer game listing
dell p3 blabla compaq p4 blba bla hp laptop tx acer........
Yeah, makes sense.... why would Resco or MS give a rats behind if a SONYERICSSON Brand and X1 (one of the most expensive phones on the market) would be listed and those users entised to get that.
