Hi all,
I've searched all over the threads and can't find an answer to this problem:
I can't select a ring tone other than the default one and media player doesn't start. If i choose a different ring tone it says it's corrupted...
This happened after a few days being turned off...
I have both patches applied and no 3rd party app installed... The ringtones are in \windows\rings.
This problem also appear at the same time that psShut Xp stops working - when i click the icon on the tray nothing appears...
This problem already appeared one time and i had to hard reset to resolve it, so if anyone has a solution other that this please tell me
there is post on this!!.
this being the 3rd one.
put tone in windows or ram disk.no folder needed just drop it in..
the search is not good.dose not matter what you type in search.
you end up with more or less the same..but not what your looking for.

Not all the people are "whatever" like you.
Search is working well, but you need to know what are u looking for: OR USE GOOGLE with site:xda-developers.com
Let me rephrase myself.
I get a message about the ringtone beeing corrupted, and media player doesn't work and neither doest psshutxp.
I also said that it works fine after a hard reset but doesn't work after a while, and no 3rd party apps were installed...
Thanks
Same problem
I have the same problem with corrupted ringtones and WM Player. How do I fix this-all I get with an incoming call is a vibration.
Paul D
Ringtones corrupted
Got the ****, noi Window Media player and WMA Ringtones corrupted, but then open them in explorer everything ok, found on the web about registry Rings key and Directory name dissapearing, but i checked mine and everything in the place. Also some people clkaim that it's Profiles software bug, So any ideas what is a problem?
Fixed
Fixed by re-flashing the phone with Baniaczek's ROM. If only it would now sync, and use TOMTOM....
For the third day with this phone, another problem arose.
There seems to be a 15-second delay receiving incoming calls. In other words, the caller would of went through at least 6 rings, before receiving my first ring on the Diamond. Am I missing something here?
-Johnny
are you using stock rom and radio? if you are FLASH!
Are you sure about 15 sec delay?? Most people complaining about 3 sec delay. There is a tweaks program you can use called Tweaks2k2. You can disable the 3sec ringtone delay. Im pretty sure if you install it on your device you can check the checkbox called ''disable 15s rintone delay''
or try this...

Btw, What filetype are you using for yr ringtone?
I tried the tweaks2k2 tweak, and it seem to reduce the delays BETWEEN rings.. not diminish the first 3sec delay.
I'm using wma. Ya think wav would be betta?
Isn't this the common problem using the HTC phone skin? If you disable that it's supposed to make the delay non-existent. You can do it in Schaps Advanced Config I understand.

Hi thanks what does this cab do, i mean the word loudest indiactes louder volume also?
Thanks
Dinesh
Thanks guys, I had got it down to 1 second now!
I installed the program and got it to come down to 4 seconds.
I converted my ringtone into a .wav format and moved it into the 'Ringtones' folder. No more 15-second delay!
-Johnny
I can confirm, after converting my ringtones to wav files and installing this patch, the 3 second delay is gone.
Working perfect !!!
Does anyone know exactly what this patch modifies so we can do it manually and track all the changes?
Or is it only the converted .wav files that is the big change?
I can also confirm that after you apply the patch and change the ringtone to .wav, the delay is gone!
@ Mask
I use mp3 files. When i call myself i took less than a second before ringing. Normally it takes 3 seconds. But i dont understand the 15sec delay..
I finally got WM6.1 installed and ran into a little issue. I tried to customize the device with my old ringtones from WM6.0.
The issue is that they do not show up in the Incoming Calls area of the ringtone section. I moved them into various FOLDERS hoping that WM6.1 would see them but this didn't work. I did notice that the ringtones were showing up in the area for RECEIVED TEXT MESSAGES and other types of the sound notifications.
How can I get the ringtones that were working perfectly fine on WM6.0 to work on the latest WM6.1?
Thanks!
Did you try putting them in the "Rings" folder. That worked for me.
I have tried the following FOLDERS without any luck:
/dev/My Documents/
/dev/My Documents/Ringtones
/dev/storage card/My Documents/
/dev/storage card/My Documents/Ringtones
/dev/Windows/Rings/
Seven ringtones (mp3) that worked perfectly on W6.0 are no longer visible as choices for the "Phone: Incoming Call" area. The only options are two WAV files I use for messages being received. However, those mp3 ringtones are visible and are options under all of the send/receive notification tone menus.
I don't get why I can't choose them as phone-call ringtones...
Any thoughts?
mine is doing the same. However, my song still rings even though it does not show being the ringer selected.
/dev/Windows/Rings/
That's where I have mine.
I had the same problem and the only solution that I found was from which ever folder you music is in just press and hold down on the song, and set as ring tone. Now your phone will ring with that song, but if you go in settings/sounds/notifications it still wont come up.

I assume you are on an AT&T Tilt? If so, I had the same problem as well. It turns out that it has something to do with the file size. There's some limit ~400k for the file for it to show on your notification lists for ringtone.
I had to chop off the end of my song, and get it to 300k and then it showed/worked just fine. I'm sure this will get fixed soon.
There's a cab that enables this function. You install it and voila all your mp3's can be set as ringtones. As soon as i find the link again Ill post it. I used it and it works great.
The Fix:
Install the .cab then move the desired MP3 File to Device\My Documents\My Ringtones and you should be able to see them in your Sounds & Notifications settings program.
Source: MikeFordMustang.com, Tiltmobility.com
Okay so I may not post it since someone beat me to it. LOL
http://mikefordmustang.com/downloads/NoRingtoneLimit.cab
I've got all mine on the root of the storage card and it works just fine - can have any size ring-tone you want...
Yo what a difference a .cab can make. I was racking my brain trying to figure out the solution to this issue. I was trying to convert .mp3 to .wma, I was downgrading the audio quality of my songs trying to get their filesize down, all with no positive results. Then I find this thread install the .cab and presto it works. To the creator and posters of this fix THANK YOU!!!!!!! You saved me from a downgrade back to 6.0. :-D
Hi,
I transferred the cab file to my xda ii, has a wm6.1 rom and it just seemed to open an html internet page with the commands in.
I see my ringtones now BUT i can't find ringtones for text.
Basically I want set my own ringtone for incoming calls and then set a differnt one for my incoming sms texts... but it just shows default when I go to look in incoming sms...
If that makes sense can someone help?
I should also mention when i extract the file it is .xml - i tried chaning the file ext to .exe or .cab but no luck... im probably being stupid but all help is appreciated,
thank you
wow, thank you
WM 6.1 registry edit for ringtone file size
I upgraded from WM 6.0 to 6.1 and now my custom ring tones that are over 500Kb do not show up in the pull down menu in order to select them for contacts. This fix is to edit the registry.
- Go into HKEY_Current User > ControlPanel > Sounds
- Delete the key of FileSizeLimit
- Done, You should now be able to set any MP3 as your ringtone.
Alan
Thanks for that .cab it was driving me insane as well not being able to have any of my old ringtones that I used for 6.0 work in 6.1 Thanks a ton!!
Thank you!!! This is just what I was looking for.
Happy Holidays!
I did not want to start a new thread for this secondary issue. I loved when my Nokia bar phone made that BEEP sound with vibration. I could hear it from a distance as it was so distinct even at low volume.
This new Windows based phones suck when it comes to rings and how they sound.
Does anyone have a very distinct beep / similar ring tone that is heard well from Tilt's loudspeakers? That would be appreciated.
New registry keys display list of ringtones.
This is my first post to these fantastic forums. I think I finally found something that merits a post.
Note: I am using WM6.1 AT&T build for Blackjack II. This may not apply here if you use a custom ROM, in which case the chefs may have already remove these keys. If not, here's how you get to see your ringtones, etc. from the Settings/Sounds menus.
In WM6.1 the registry key,
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds
have 2 new keys:
AllSounds
Ringtones
Each of these keys is a collection of sound files, obviously the ones shipped with the original rom. Use a registry editor to delete both keys. The time to display the list of sounds will increase if you have many sound files.
If you have a set of custom tones, you could put this list into the registry instead and the list will display much faster.
I hope this saves someone some time and frustration.

Can you tell me how to install the NoRingtoneLimit.cab to my phone. This is new to me thk u.
BIG thanks to Shmilson and rr69 for their work!!!
There's a new kid on the block, rr69's modded cab without the new drivers... I'd try this first (read his post to understand why):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3511566&postcount=128
rr69's lite cab, just the driver, no graphics:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=162761&d=1236030009
Shmilsons QVGA skinned cab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=162900&d=1236070663
Check out mskips thread with a alternative solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493118
Here's how to set up ICR on your Kaiser :
1. Install the cab of your choice (Shmilsons for QVGA skinned version or rr69 if you are happy with your current skin).
2. Install Vito Audio Notes or any recording software of your choice (I'm using Vito Audio Notes for touch 1.02)
3. Soft reset
4. Make a call, when your'e connected use the menu (bottom left corner) and choose start recording. Wait a couple of seconds, then hang up.
5. Start your recording software and put it to automatic record calls
6. DONE!
If it's not working for you, you could try this:
1. Install .NET compact framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3c6b-42f1-9fd9-0041345b3385&displaylang=en
2. If the "Start Recording" doesn't appear, try to uninstall your dialer skinn (or turn it off), soft reset. Try to record a call again, if it works you can reinstall your skinn.
People are looking for the reason why it's working for some and just not at all for others. As soon we have a clue I'll post it here.
Notes:
I don't have to do anything after a soft reset, Vito records everything by default.
Vito records all calls WITH BOTH YOUR OWN AND THE CALLERS VOICE, Vito will name the files according to your contacts (or info in google maps if your'e using any numbers from google).
Now you can record your calls and listen to both parties without any annoying hassle like using the speakerphone!!!
There's no beeps or any other way the caller can hear that your'e recording with this setup... Illegal in some countries, it's your responsibility! =)
Below: Picture shows Vito Audio Notes Touch interface...
no go
Unfortunately my Kaiser says that ICR in not valid windows application on matter what I do. It seem the problem is in ICR.exe because other components install just fine. And of course Vito records only me speaking.
Anyway the fact that it is possible to record both parties makes me optimistic. Maybe the day will come that I will have my advanced, expensive WMphone do what every cheap simple eric or nokia can do for over 5 years
I run stock Orange rom 6.0 (maybe that's a problem)
It say's that for me too... Ignore it, you don't need to open the app, it's just for settings anyways. Just follow the steps and use Vito (or resco or what you prefer).
It still mess up your graphics though.
do you have a screenshot of ICR?
I have been using Vito AudioNotes (on my Kaiser) for months now and when i want to record a call i must have it on Speakerphone, but i simply cover the speaker phone with my finger to reduce the volume so others dont listen in on the conversation.
pls show me what the ICR graphic is?
Thanks

I don't have a clue what it looks like, can't open it. The phone just use the drivers from the cab, I'm using Vito Audio Notes and it works like a charm. Callers and my own voice crystal clear. Had some minor glitches on some calls during the day but overall fantastic!
Any developers reading this? would be nice with a clean cab for kaiser! =)
Since I haven't come up with a solution to the graphic problem I simple disabled caller skin with Advanced Config and using Windows ugly thing for the time beeing... AT least it works, recording calls are more important (for me anyways).
I'm confused, what's this doing that Vito doesn't do? Is it going between the two? I know on the Kaiser most other recording software can't record the outgoing conversation, so no question there, just wondering how this enables it to work.
And is it progressing? No messing with the phone? And does it stay forever, or do you have to do this each reset? Each call?
roomy and i editing icr program stuff to work on kaiser so hang tight
Whoooopieee! Thanks a million!

Yes, this goes in between... There was an old audio driver for windows called virtual audio cable, it catched the sound (data) before it reached the audiocard and then you could route it to where ever you liked. This is pretty much the same thing.
So you can use Vito or any other app. The ICR just reroute the audio so that it ends up in the right place.
You have to use 'start recording' from the dialer menu after every soft reset but just for the first call. After that the 'driver' is activated and Vito will recieve audio for both parties of a conversation.

Hopefully it can be worked out so this is not a battery drain, and can be automated.
I wonder why Vito etc don't do this themselves?

I haven't noticed any battery drain and Iv'e set up Vito to record every call for the last 3 days so it looks promising.
Vito and/or Resco probably would if they could, this driver comes from HTC and I guess it's easier for the hardware vendor to create this than for a software developer. HTC don't need to make it work for any other brand or model, just for the device they choose. That's why... I guess... But what do I know, I'm nothing but a sound engineer...

Great find! This program does exactly what I need it to do, and with Audio Notes, I can maintain a record of all conversations. Very useful indeed! It's already saved me a couple of times by recording conversations where someone told me a phone number that I had to remember because I didn't have any way to write it down while driving.
I tried installing MBarvian's Opal Phone Canvas, and that seems to fix the graphics problem. The recording still works as before. Also, I can run the ICR executable, and it seems to be very similar to Audio Notes, although the vga graphics don't display correctly on my tilt...

Hi All,
*** STRIPPED ICR CAB ***
Started off by downloading the cab mentioned in the starting post. Then i removed all the skin and other irrelevant file and registry entries in the cabfile. Which left me with a working ICR "lite" cabfile.
Just follow the same procedure described in the start post but instead use this cab.
It won't ruin the phoneskin because it has been stripped.
No guarantees, but this cab works fine for me..

I tested that, and it does automaticly work after a soft reset. Here's what i did until now.
(The Sashimi part and hard reset is optional)
I installed the cabfile (ICRKaiser.cab) and Vito audionotes 1.37 on my tytnII. Started audionotes, and edited the settings so the app automaticly records calls on my stroragecard in low quality mp3 format. Did a soft reset, and made the first call and selected "Start Recording" from the menu in the "normal" phone app. (Ended the call after a few seconds)
All the calls after that ar automaticly recorded by audionotes even after a softreset. Both sides are recorded... (You dont have to use "Start Recording" from the phone app. Vito does it all automaticly.)
--------------------
Sashimi automation! (see: http://www.winmo-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4)
copied:
"\Program Files\VITO\Audionotes\settings.ini" to
"Storage Card\SASHIMI\AUTO\Root\Program Files\VITO\Audionotes\settings.ini"
Copied
"ICRKaiser.cab" and "VitoAudioNotes.cab" to
"Storage Card\SASHIMI\AUTO\CAB\ICRKaiser.cab"
"Storage Card\SASHIMI\AUTO\CAB\VitoAudioNotes.cab"
------------------------
So when i do a hard reset, and Sashimi has installed the cabfiles and copied the ini file, every works right away. and survives softresets
B.t.w. if you dont want the automatic call recording function you can skip the Vito Audionotes installation. The recording option in the Phone menu also works for two side call recording. It saves the recording in: "\My Documents\Recording\"

I've updated the "lite" CAB mentioned above with the ICR applet that was originally on the CAB floating around and skinned it to QVGA. Only for portrait nowbut I'll try to update it once more if I have the time. I've also overwrote the BEEP and BEEPBEEP sounds with silent WAV files, so no sound is made when starting/stopping recordings.
The applet let's user set format of recording (AMR or WAV) and if to save them on memory or card. It then shows a list of recorded conversations that can be played on the app itself.
It can be used stand-alone if one wants to manually start recording selected conversations or with the procedure on the first post of this thread for the automatic mode.
And as RR69 said here: "No guarantees, but this cab works fine for me..
"
And to think about a few months ago, no one could believe we could do ICR on HTC devices! Ha!
shmilson
Cool,
I just stripped the whole vga ICR application out of the cabfile. Nice to see that someone took the time to reskin it to qvga.
The only thing i would like to find out if the volume of the recordings can be set to be a bit louder.

Thanks so much for posting this link. This has been my biggest problem with my Fuze.
I'd tried every suggested fix I could find for this problem ever since I first got the Fuze 11/08. HTC and third party media players, registry tweaks, huge caches, running on and off battery power, turning off equalization, etc.
But, no matter what, nothing that I did made a bit of difference. My WMA collection was subject to hiccups and stutters. Every few minutes at most I'd get a brief interruption, which gimped my phone as an all around media device.
But, now I've listened for about half an hour after installing the hotfix and at long last I'm golden! Thanks HTC for addressing this issue that is admittedly minor for most users, but was HUGE for me. That's how to build customer loyalty.
This is good news. Unfortunately, this exe won't run on custom roms.
I wonder if some kind soul might be willing to install this on a stock rom to see exactly what files and/or registry settings the installer changes (using SKTools or something) and then zip them up for us so we can test it...

It ran fine on NATF's v4.7. No idea what it did though. You can open the .exe in 7Zip and see the files though, so you might be able to work out what it does from that.

NATF 4.7 is a 6.1 rom, so that explains why it probably runs on it (I should have clarified that it won't run on newer build custom roms).
Anyway, thanks for the tip about 7Zip. I've extracted the contents and I'm looking over the xml files to see what it does. Looks like it installs a new OEM_Misc.dll, along with a couple other files, and a few registry entries. I may try to fiddle with it this weekend.

From this looks of this thread, Da_G was going to include the fix in his kitchen, although I still experience skipping audio sometimes.
I did a quick compare of the OEM_Misc.dll in Da_G's kitchen, the file in the other thread, and this one. The file in this Raph hotfix is smaller (by about 10kb) than the version in Da_G's kitchen and it is labeled version 5.11.0.0, as opposed to 5.0.0.0. The file in the thread you posted is even smaller yet (by about 7kb) and is labeled version 1.39.0.0...
I'm going to try copying this newest OEM_Misc to my Windows folder to see what happens. I'll post back later...
Update: I installed this new OEM_Misc.dll on my TP and ran it through my regular weekday audio test at the gym. After about 1 hour 15 minutes of straight music playback, I did not experience any of the skipping I had seen before. The only skip I noticed was immediately after the audio resumed after hanging up a call. Other than that, it seems to be a noticeable improvement.
I've whipped up a cab for anyone else that wants to try it out on a newer rom.
thanks hefman,
quick question before i install, is this cab uninstallable? just want to make sure i don't have to hard-reset if it doesn't work out for me
Works
Thanks very much. This worked for me with the 6.1 standard FUZE ROM. Before the Hotfix, every 20 seconds or so of audio playback I received a skip. It was very annoying and rendered the FUZE unusable as an mp3 player. Since the installation of the Hotfix, no more skips. I played several songs without a single skip or hesitation.

You should be able to uninstall the cab. However, if it won't uninstall, you can always use TotalCommander to delete the OEM_Misc.dll file from your Windows directory. A soft reset will then restore your rom's version of that file.
Can you please inform CDMA folks that this is not for them. I had to do hard reset (SPRINT Touch Pro). Thanks.

Strange though, the original HTC hotfix link does not say it is GSM-specific. Did you install the original exe or my cab?
seems to be working great! i have noticed however that my 'menu' soft-key for htc music player is not working anymore but it is probably due to a diff program b/c uninstalling the audio fix does not correct the problem..

Thank you very much for this. Just listened to around 20 minutes of music on pocket player (320kbps files) without any lags. Before it was rare if I got through a track without a skip.
