I have not found any threads regarding this so I went ahead and bit the bullet and tried on my GoodLink server. Initially disappointed because my server was setup to send the last ver 4 GoodLink software to the Kaiser. After upgrading then to ver 5 the phone portion of the device would not work no matter what I did. GoodLink seemed to work but the phone wouldn't. I then uninstalled GoodLink via the remove programs (now GoodLink does not require hard reset to get rid of it).
I waited 24 hours (chicken). I then made sure that ver 5 was pushed to the device initially - viola - seems to work great now after 24 hours. No slowing of the device as was the case with other lesser devices (memory and processor speed!).
So far I believe that for those who want GoodLink and PPC the Kaiser may be the best device so far! I'll keep you updated as to any glitches that come up. I fully recognize that with some of the improvements to Pocket Outlook and with always on active sync GoodLink is not as needed as it was before but there are still some "closer to desktop Outlook" advantages for business users.

So - I binned Goodlink some time ago on the Co HP device and opted for a phone the performance was so bad. Based on your recommendation I might try it again. Where can I get the latest CAB? Will my old account registration work on the TyTN - or do I have to go back to the IS dept for another "key" to get setup?
Thx
Graham
The IT dept has to enable the version 5 for your device. In my case I have my own GoodLink server and I tried to install via a cab file and it didn't work for some reason. So I went back to the OTA setup. Just call the IT dept and ask them to enable the version 5 for your device (that is assuming they have upgraded their server yet) and resend you a PIN email. It is three or four mouse clicks so don't let them act like it is much trouble!
If you don't get ver 5 right off the bat then uninstall it don;t go any further because it didn;t work for me to "upgrade" ver 4 to 5!
how much better is it than 4.93? i find it a little buggy and i still need to activesync my calendar and contacts for other Hpone related items.
Goodlink
Goodlink 4.9.3.21 works like a charm, syncs mail, calendar, notes, tasks, the works and it's fast too. Not sure why yours would be 'buggy'; mine works like a charm without failure.

There are definitely some improvements with ver 5 -- one thing to know (I have another post somewhere else) is that you need to prepare for the fact that there is integration with the native contact list and GoodLink. In other words if you still use Active Sync (like via a server) you will get duplicate contacts. The IT person for the GoodLink server has a setting to choose what parts of you contact list will get sync'd with the native contact list for "use with voice dialing" etc (as per GoodLink's literature), i.e, Last, First, work, home, fax, email. Once you figure out what is going on it is actually better because the native contact list takes up less space because you can pick and choose (the IT GoodLink admin guy) what is sync'd.
All the while the GoodLink Calendar list , of course, gets fully sync's as it is designed to do.
[Interestingly with vers 5 server and ver 5 on the device the GoodLink admin person can actually "dis-allow" the use of any particular application on your device. Every program you have on your device shows up on the GoodLink Mangemenet Console. It's pretty cool -- that is if you have access to the server!!!]
If you have question just ask and I'll try to answer them since I have my own server
PS as far as the duplicate contact thing you need to use PPContactsMgr and delete ALL of your native contacts, then tell active sync NOT to sync contacts and then let GoodLink do its thing as far as syncing the selected fields of you native contact list.
PSS I really like using GoodLink so far -- with it's limited syncing of the native contacts list which then work NICELY with PocketCM to make calls text msgs etc

Iten I was browsing sure does. I was really surprised when I was browsing my new management console for ver 5 and click on a tab that took a minute or two to respond (I didn't know at the time but it was retrieving from my device) and then showed my applications on my device and gave options for which to allow and which to disallow!!
I didn't want to mess anything up so I didn't experiment.

I tried the OTA setup and it gave me version 6(!).. Needless to say my old PIN wasn't valid - and the IT dept wouldn't enable it for me. They said "can't use none approved devices on Company networks".. so I can't use my TyTNII with Goodlink. I think the PIN was for v5.. but I don't see how to get the v5 CAB

Greets,
A number of threads touch on Instant Messengers for the Kaiser/Tilt, but only tangentially. There are many products out there, some free, and some not, some offering AIM and some not, etc.
Does anyone know of a free Instant Messenger client which can do both AIM and Yahoo? I tried Octo(?) and it was very hard to configure (actually, never succeeded, gave up, and posted this message).
Thanks!
I'm currently using this:
http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=slick
Slick Configuration?
Did you do something special with Slick? On your recommendation I have installed it, but whenever I try to connect to AOL I get:
"ERROR!
Auth failed. Socket error. Host not found.
Error number 11001"
Thanks
See http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=The Windows Mobile Instant Messaging Bible
i use MunduIM .. it logs onto 5 or 6 chat networks including AIM or yahoo. its good but it starts up slow. i paid $8 or $9 for it... can't remember. i didnt try the rest so i cant comment on it; but i know mundu has free trial download.

Yes, scroll to the bottom of the Configuration page and select Media Net for the Access point.
I use IM+ not free but I like it, you can log in to yahoo, MSN, Google, ICQ all at the same time
i'm using palringo after spending a few weks trying and fighting with everything i could find... its still in early development but they have active devs / support as well as some cool ideas not seen in the others.
also very fast and responsive application (mundu being the worst i used)
Another vote for Palringo. It is indeed under development though. I'm still waiting for tabbed conversations and hoping they implement a history so the conversation isn't lost after I close out of it.
Ive ben using IM+, it does the job well
Hi everyone,
i went to a 3store today to get a TYTN 2 on 3 network UK. I thought we could use the free skype minutes they offer on other handsets, but they said no, use the wifi!!!
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to connect to their skype service. Thanks
PS: Please include links to any software or recent methods you might know.
Hi, I'd also like to know if this possible. Have a 3 PAYG sim and get 30 days free skype when I pay for the internet add-on but cannot work out how to use the 3G network for my calls. Cheers
I think fring will do what you want.
The website says you can make skype calls.
www.fring.com "fring is based on a unique thin-client technology that for the first time enables true VoIP over 3G, GPRS and WiFi networks"
I installed it on my stock rom AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) but have not tested.
I hope that helps.

Thanks but i think for that you should have access to the internet. I can easily use the skype program instead. The problem is that skype is not the type of skype 3 network is using ( they use a java based program).
I read an article and someone had used the skype from a LG phones with 3 and Esmertec Jbed, but that was an Australian version. does anyone have a UK version?
This would rock if it is possible! Anyone know where to download a UK version?
I think we need to find someone with a non nokia phone from 3 UK, so he can give us the jar file. preferably LG
What do you think?
anyone from uk? or anyone knows a professional UK website? please
Anyone found this?
Can anyone with a TyTn II from the 3 network confirm if it comes with Planet 3 and Skype software installed?
I use Three...
Ah, you forgot to read the ultra-small fine print that states that the offer for *all* phones has expired and it's now only on *selected* handsets that seem to exclude the TyTN 2, also you can't get the sim-only and install the Three free Skype or Live Messenger on a non-Three phone+rom without some custom ROM hacking.
To make matters worse, if you get the £5 Unlimited Internet Access, the small print is that Three block Skype and Live Messenger so they can't be used (thought I think you can buy the £10 option that allows them?) - even if you want to pay for them outside the unlimited bundle. You can use IM+ BeejiveIM etc, to access Live Messenger though, and as far as I'm aware it seems to be included in the Unlimited access...
Oh, and if you want to access Planet3/My3 on your phone you can do so, but first you need to go into Advanced Config and change your "User Agent Custom Base" to "HTC_TyTN_II Mozilla/4.0" and then use the URL "http://mobile.three.co.uk/837_sc/index.do"
The Planet3/My3 will only work when accessing the page though the 3 connection and not WiFI or ActiveSync, but is acuttaly pritty nifty at checking you accound balance, tops ups, addons and such like.

Hi guys,
This is a solution for the Skype on Three network issue. I had placed it on another forum (http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?p=385677) and one guy has reported it working, but apparently, it might not work with WM5, only with WM6. Please give it a whirl and let me know if it works for you.
Feedback is great for both me as well as others

Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum
(I have great and joyous news)
I believe that I have succeeded in getting the native Iskoot WM6 client for Skype to connect to the Three/3 service. I am still testing it and would appreciate your feedback.
Steps
a) Download and install the Iskoot client for Windows Mobile 6 . Try the direct link here (http://www.iskoot.com/pc_download/Wi...1.54_WMpro.CAB)
b) After installation, start the application, but DO NOT sign in. Instead exit it. The reason for doing this is to create the default registry entries for Iskoot.
c) Now start your favourite registry editor (I personally use Resco Registry Editor, but you should be able to use any. Please do not ask me how to use the registry editor. This is not the appropraite forum.)
d) Head for the following location in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE
e) Update all the following entries to the same value "http://mobile.three.co.uk/948" (do not include the "double quotes")
BackupHost
CallUrl
DefaultSkHost
Pushhost
f) Exit the registry editor of choice and start and log into Iskoot. This might take some time. It took me about five minutes.
It should now be configured to connect to the 3 Skype service. To cross-verify, check that the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE\Cal lNumber has the value +447838333894 (the 3 Skype dial-out number). It should be automatically added by the software.
As I have mentioned earlier, I am still testing this. However, with this implementation, it should not use your included minutes, but the free Skype allocation. Please test the same and let us all know if that is the case or you have noticed that your inclusive minutes have been used up.
I do not know how to modify cabs. But if somebody can rebuild the original Iskoot cab with these settings built-in, that would be great.
I have noticed that the sound quality on this is considerably better as compared to the Skype Java client.

Thanks for the information. I tried it on my Hermes and it worked great.
Unfortunately, when I tried the same thing on my Kaiser, all I ever get is "Currently unable to connect".
I can't see why there would be any difference between the two phones, but the Hermes never fails and the Kaiser never succeeds!
Any suggestions?

For Windows Mobile 6.1, MS .net Framework 3.5 is required, otherwise, "Currently unable to connect" error might appear
SkypeOut is officially supported (if not, very soon) by 3UK,
http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/allfeatures/3skypephone/overseascalling/
with some restrictions (read the small print!)
I failed to get Skypein to work, however.
And Skypeout is a bit unstable at the moment, might be 3UK is upgrading their servers...

I think what some people did is to download a java version of the iskoot (for other non-WM phone) and decompiled the java class/jad file and find the URL string. I guess if you can somehow intercept the outgoing network traffic from a 3 customized iskoot client running on another phone (perhaps on a Symbian phone trying to communicate to the server via wifi, which wouldn't connect successfully I believe, but still let you), parse the network packet to find out its intended destination will do the trick too.

Thanks for the tip, but the problem is that the only phone with skype is the amoi 8512 (http://www.3skypephone.com/english/index.html have you ever seen it?) I do not have x-series with skype, but a specific offer wich works only with this phone. This phone does not have wifi, so I cannot sniff packet through network, and the iskoot client is not java, but specifically made for it (when I run it, the Java log does not apper), so I do not know how I could extract the url. The only thing I have done is to get its user agent to replace it on the Tytn II, the Amoi 8512 user agent is " Amoi 8512/R22.0 NF-Browser/3.3" without double quote, of course.

I was in your situation until a week ago when I found the 3 UK setting. It is so frustrating that I knew all it requires is a correct URL address yet I didn't know what it is!
What you may want to try is to first identify which X-series phone that 3 Italy support apart from the skypephone. And then change your Tytn II 's broswer agent string to one of those phone that use a JAVA iskoot client instead of a native client like Symbian client. Then use your phone browser to 3 ITA portal and try to download the iskoot (Skype) software. 3 ITA server should now think that you have a compatible phone so it will present you with the Java client. Once you go the .jar file, you can proceed to extract the URL from there...
I think people used SEW910I to get the 3 Australia client.
Try this for the Browser agent string:
SonyEricssonW910i/R1CA Browser/NetFront/3.4 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
I tried the above suggestion myself to try to get the URL from 3 UK's client, but I can't remember why I stopped, and then later I found that the URL is already know on some other forums on the Internet...
Good luck!

You are right, it is frustriating knowing I cannot use my Kaiser just because I do not know a simple url!!
I will have a look at this right now. Thanks for your help
I am trying to run a 3 (UK) MSN/Live Messenger on my official O2 WM6.1 Kaiser. (The reason for trying is that with 3 (UK) the operator, your MSN messages doesn't count towards your data traffic; also I would like to experiment its battery drain compare to other MSN clients).
If I just log in Planet 3 (UK) (the 3 portal site), it wouldn't let me download its Live messenger client as my phone is not a compatible one. I changed my user agent string to SEW910i and downloaded the .jad file for W910i. I then removed the certificate portions (the last 2 lines) in the .jad file so that it can install on my Kaiser. It works but sometime the display is not quite way, but more importantly, only vibrate alert is possible but setting to Loud or Soft alert would still result in vibration only. I then modified the .jad file again so that instead of referencing the mp3 files from the 3UK website, it point to the local version (which I downloaded and place in the same directory as the .jad and .jar files) as:
AlertToneContact: online.mp3
AlertToneMsg: newmsg.mp3
However, it still doesn't work :-(
Is there anything I have missed?
May be I should have used the N95's version? Has anyone tried that before? Are they different? And what would be the best version?
Thanks!
SMS push on 3 Live Messenger
Also, one of the feature of the 3 (UK) MSN messenger which I Have tried on my other symbian phone is that even if the client is closed (not minimized), it can still be re-activated/re-launched automatically when new MSN messenges arrive (by listening to special SMS messages form the operator (3 UK)), if one didn't choose to sign out form the MSN server.
I notice in the .jad file there is such a line:
MIDlet-Push-1: sms://:3716, ui.Main, *
Is this a Symbian's Java virtual machine feature? Or is it a general java virtual machine feature?

can i have the oridginal file you had?
Any progress on this?
Im trying to get it to work in Australia, but the 3 MSN java app is running but i cant see it at all.
I've tried the same app and found it very flaky
I have another slight problem, can I ask you to check - I can only login to MSN on 3 if I have a 3g connection.
Where we live the 3g connection is flaky and it refuses to login to MSN on GPRS :-(
Skype wise it works fine (they offer free skype-skype too) don't use their java client, look on this site for instructions how to configure the PPC / Wmobile iSkoot Client :0 tested and it's not used any data allowance.
Thanks,
I already have skoot running using my skype call allowance.
My Kaiser already has Live Messenger, but not the unlimited one.
Was trying to get it running as a pet project.
I have just switched to Three UK PAYG and have been searching around a bit. I am running a WM6.1 ROM on a Hermes.
So far I have managed to:
1) Use HTC Connection Wizard (downloaded via CRC's Device Update) to set up the internet and MMS settings.
2) Run the 'Identify as N95 (WM6.1).cab' (thanks to sub69 in this thread. 6.0 and 6.5 versions can also be found there.)
This allows me to access the My3 pages at http://mobile.three.co.uk/hb/HutchKey
3) Install the 3 Live Messenger Java client. I am using the version 4.5, not the latest V5. Credits for modifying this go to therafiman at MoDaCo.
This is working with Esmertec Jbed, and is working for free as it is meant to.
'Windows_Live Messenger.zip' contains the .jad and .jar files, and only seems to work if both are copied to the phone and the .jad file is run.
The Java client is far inferior to the normal Windows Mobile Live client, but the normal client is not free to run. Additionally I have been unable to log on using the normal client over 3g. If I log on while connected to activesync or wifi then I can switch to 3g and keep it running, but this will be charging you.
I haven't looked at skype yet, because no one I regularly call uses it. However I have found these instructions which look promising despite the dodgy numbering system:
1) First you need to download the Iskoot version of Skype from www.iskoot.com. You'll need to enter your name & mobile number and select your phone type.
2) Once downloaded, install ISkoot on your windows mobile
3) Start up Iskoot but don't log in yet.
4) Exit Iskoot
3) Use a registry editor to change the following keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE to "http://mobile.three.co.uk/948"
BackupHost
CallUrl
DefaultSkHost
Pushhost (only if it exists)
4) Exit the registry editor and start Iskoot again. This time log in (mine logged in immediately - some people say their first log-in takes a few minutes).
5) That's it!. You can verify if things have worked by examining registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE\Cal lNumber. If ok, this should have been updated to either "123" on your first log-in, then to a number beginning +44783833...
Once you've made a few skype calls you should see that your credit / call-time balance / data allowance does NOT decrease.

If anyone has any luck getting the V5 Java Live Messenger client running on windows mobile then please post, or even better would be configuring the normal live client to use 3's free service.
EDIT
I'm attaching the WLM V5 .jad and .jar files.
These are unmodified, and downloaded using the N95 user agent in the previous post. Maybe someone knows what they are doing to modify the .jad and get it working.

My post has an Alpha/Beta that needs testing for Android.
upon request it was re-instated, there is an official version out there but i didnt get it to work properly, so i grabbed the original Iskoot for Android (non 3 version) and modified it slightly to incorporate the 3 uk settings
JavaAuthorizer
An excellent application if you don’t want to keep saying “Yes, allow NET access”
Thanks to the people who provided this.

Hi, can I somehow set ebuddy to the same settings and use it for free like windows live on 3 network?
Nokia Lumia 920
I am having a problem with a mobile version of one website on my Windows Phone: The home page loads and displays correctly, but when you touch a link, a "server or DNS cannot be found" - error is shown. However, after hitting "refresh", the page addressed by the link is displayed fine. This is very annoying, so I reported that behavior to the web master of the site.
The suggested solutions that came in response were two:
- allow cookies all the time (I changed that setting, but it did not fix the issue)
- make sure that java scripting is enabled in the Internet Explorer
While in the regular version of IE you can adjust this setting easily through the respective menu, I couldn't find any option in the Windows Phone system or in the options of IE mobile to adjust java scripting.
Questions:
1. Can these settings be changed at all?
2. What are the java script settings in IE mobile by default?
Many thanks
Joerg
First of all, "JavaScript" - one word - is the language commonly used in websites. Java (which is not scripted, although in old versions it was interpreted much the way scripts are) is occasionally also used on the web, but very rarely.
Windows Phone supports JavaScript, and this support cannot be turned off in the browser to the best of my knowledge. Apps can turn it off within their internal WebView controls, but in IE it is always on.
Possibly a silly suggestion, but have you tried rebooting the phone? After that, my next suggestion would be trying the mobile site in IE10 on the desktop, probably using the Developer Tools to spoof the WP8 IE10 user agent string.

Yes, I tried rebooting - to no avail. Opening the site in IE10 on the desktop does not work, because it automatically detects the browser and switches to the regular (instead of the mobile) site.
Meanwhile, I have encountered the same issue with more mobile sites: clicking on links causes an error. This error does not occurr when you open the site e.g. in Safari on an Ipad.

I take it you're not overly familiar with how web browsers (and servers) work. I can try figuring out what the problem is if you let us know what the problematic site is, though.
Hello guys ... I dont know if this is the place to post my problem but its the only one that is close to what I have as an issue... So .. I have a problem with some active buttons in some sites, when I log in the site there are little active buttons on the top of the page ( account, community, forum, etc. ) so when I try to click on those buttons the phone ( lumia 920 ) just selects the text and gives me the option to copy it. I have few android devices and there is no such issue with them, I dont know if this is connected with the java script or flash or what ever ... I just need some help if there is a fix for this. THX in advance and have a happy new year :good::good::good:
If possible, tap off the text but still on the button (zoom in if you need to). You could also try tapping more quickly, or alternatively tap-and-hold and see if it offers you the context menu for links.
