Hey everyone,
I have just noticed tonight that when the phone is on silent or vibrate there is no call waiting notification, so it's pretty tough to know a second call is coming through. I take it this is the case with everyone else's X1, and isn't specific to my ROM (the new UK generic)?
If so, what's up with that bad?! A pretty bad flaw if you ask me - the calls are the fundamental function of a phone, so everything about them should be perfect in my opinion.
I had a search and saw only 1 other post about the issue, but without a resolution. I thought everyone would have been moaning about it!
Jason
I am having the exact same problem. Any solution/workaround?
Mine still goes *beep* when it's on vibrate. I'm on the original R2A0010 UK rom. What ROM are you guys using?
Mine is R2AA008 Generic UK
Just installed the latest Generic UK Rom R3AA010 clean, with no addition, same problem. Any ideas?
anybody else suffer from this or is it only my X1i?
I'm on the generic UK R2AA ROM and I have the same issue.
When on a call with the phone set to vibrate mode, there is no audible notification of waiting calls. Guess this really is a bug with the R2AA.
Actually, as I wrote above, I have this problem on the R3A rom too. Does anyone else? Any way to fix it?
Anyway i fixed the problem with Registry Editor
Anyway i fixed the problem with Registry Editor
Somehow I must have set the Incall/Incall2/Incall3 Attenuation to 0 which silent all notification sounds during a phone call.
Adjusted it to setting 5 and now the call waiting tone is way loud. Never missed a call waiting ever again

What are the registry keys you changed in order to fix it?

Hello all,
I have noticed the following problem lately on my TyTN2 (original Norwegian ROM): After a while, the phone goes silent. It doesn't vibrate or ring when I receive messages and phone calls.
This seems to apply only to the ring/SMS tones. It plays sound files fine, and I am able to make a phone call.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any solution?

Check that you didn't change the settings in the Sounds and Notifications settings menu.
Make sure that under the Sounds Tab the Programs box is checked along with the Notifications box.
I forgot to mention that after a soft reset, it's back to normal.
It seems like the settings aren't changed.
I have a serious problem with my new diamond....
When I get an incoming call, I often miss the call because the phone is really slow to ring/vibrate...
I can see that at least for two of callers rings before it rings/vibrates on my end, the touch pad lights up/flashes. But unless you are physically watching your phone all the time, you have no chance to react in time..
Especially becase the lag-of-death os (wm6) takes eternity to figure out that Im actually frantically pressing 'answer call'
Is there some sort of registry hack for this?
Disabling the phone skin helps (download Schap's Advanced Config) and gives you back about 10Mb of memory. Also, some people say that moving from a .wav ringtone to an mp3 helps. I've not tried the latter but it certainly helped on previous PPCs.
Don't have any suggestions for your problem, but I do have a question of my own:
Who hangs up after 2 rings!?!
Who designs a phone that doesn't ring the first three times and then starts ringing? What's the point?

And the answer to that would be - HTC
BTW just a suggestion, if it might help ...
You can set alerts for missed calls - Start - Settings - Sounds and Notifications.
So.. in case someone does give you a missed call (one or two rings and then disconnects) - you will be notified with a sound. As opposed to pulling the phone out of your pocket - after 30 minutes and then noticing that you have a few missed calls from people who disconnected after 2 rings
Hope this helps.
the thing is that when the phone starts ringing, I need to react... it does actually happen that it is not in my hand, but on the table somewhere etc..
then by the time it rings the second time I get to it, and press answer.. wm6 then takes 2 years to figure out that the moron holding the phone has actually pressed te button..
by then its up to at least 5 rings on the other end... then a lot of people hang up...
what I would like was to tweak the phone to ring immedeately instead of the initial blinking for two rings...
yea someone do help out in this aspect please...
i for one have free incoming call.. so its pretty wasteful to call back a missed call when actually i could have answered it fast enough..
and im using a mp3 ringtone.. din see much improvement..
As told before: seems the diamond dialer interface is causing most of the pain. disabling it makes it respond faster.
but maybe...
someone made a custom VGA version of our Diamond dialer skin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2365614&postcount=16
perhaps if we install this we get our Diamond skin back but without delay (???). it's worth a try, I will try it later.
disadvantage: 5 Mb extra storage space consumed.
I just did some testing on my Diamond.
I have a .wav as ringtone, am using the new dailer interface and am not using TF3D.
The phone starts ringing after the caller hears the second ring on his end, not too bad is it?
Also, I noticed disabling the new dailer interface also disables the "flip the phone to mute" option?
yes its bad.. or not good enough...
did you notice that the ring on your diamond is in fact blinking for those two first rings?
So the phone knows someone is calling you, but delays the ringing?
It's really not that big a deal..
I mean.. so it rings a few seconds later... I mean.. err.. compare that to.. NOT BEEPING AT ALL when you receive an SMS (thanks for the tweak) or an EMAIL (hoping to find a tweak)..
Yeah, it's a problem.. just not that big a problem.
you can setup notifications in the advanced section of the sounds menu.
and even if you couldnt I dont see how one flaw should excuse another?!

Mate, you SERIOUSLY think that there were tonns of people who DIDN'T think of setting up the Sounds and Notifications Menu!!
Needed a registry tweak (for the SMS) and as far as I know, some are still having a problem with the Email (auto retrieval) - notification.
More importantly, nobody is saying that the delayed ring IS NOT A FLAW..
I just said.. a few seconds delay is not THAT big a deal. It's not a matter of EXCUSE one FLAW by looking at the other. Definitely not. A problem is a problem. I was just highlighting that a few seconds delay in notification is not THAT BAD as opposed to not being notified (by a sound) AT ALL

well for me its bad, and theres plenty of other people that feel likewise..
I agree it is bad and would also like a solution.
Most people who ring me get two rings before my phone even plays the MP3 and 2 rings later the answer phone kicks in.
It would be nice if the MP3 played as soon as the LED flashed like it should..

what do you mean with " new dialer interface", the white Diamond interface that comes with the diamond ROMs or the cab file I referred to?

I mean the default dailer interface m8. I'm calling it the 'new dailer' because the tweak set you back to the old one (default WM6.1).
Sorry for confusion
Ok you guys and dolls with the slow response: what ROM are you using?
I use the 1.93 (from Walshieau) en did the test many times today with the diamond dialer active. Result: the moment the phone goes over my Diamond responds. Exactly at the same time!
I did it with the device on, device off, waited 10 minutes, all the same result: immediate answer.
Are there any guys who use 1.93 and experience the delay or am I the only lucky bastard?
BTW: I use radio 1.00.25.05
OK guys,
I just had my "faulty" Diamond replaced - it wasn't ringing on calls, but all other sounds were OK. This is not the same issue that people have had with SMS notifications etc etc.
Basically only a hard reset cured the issue, but it came back after a few days.
Since using the new one I think I worked out what it could be, and it might be very embarassing.....part of it is to do with the stupid way HTC have implemented the volume behaviour in Touch Flo, and their philosophy of "why press the screen once when you can press it 3 or 4 times"! Dismissing email, missed call and SMS notifications from the Home screen anyone? - need I say more.
Anyway, the problem <I think> stems from the way they changed the volume feature. (and operator error).
In WM6.x native, if you turn the system volume off, then the ringer turns off - if you turn it up the ring stays off - BUT both volumes are seen on one screen. So it's obvious.
In Touch Flo there are 2 separate screens!! System Volume, then an Arrow left to "Ring Volume".
Anyone who has the apparent "no ringing" press the up or down volumne, then make sure you hit the arrow left for "Ring Volume".
My sample size is 1, so this maybe coincidental, but I hadn't realised it worked this way.
For those of you with the problem, please check the "Ring Volume" level and get back to us.
See the pic attached.....
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 'no sound on calls' problem has been seen to happen when the system volume and ring volume have been at maximum. Indeed this has also been seen to happen on WM6.x native, where as you say, both levels are visible.
I was meaning the incoming calls do not ring at all- the sound when speaking still works.
Is that what you meant?
If yes then that's a pain - I was hoping it could be the end of my troubles!
This may or may not be relevant, but, I never change the volume (system or ringer - they're both set to max) and indeed I've even remapped the volume hardware buttons to other functions but on occasion I find that whilst my system volume remains on max my ringer volume has gone right down to zero.
It certainly wasn't me that did it - at least not directly through any positive action related to changing the volume anyway.
I cannot seem to reproduce this problem, and so for now it seems to occur randomly (of course I'm sure there is a definite trigger - I just haven't found it yet!).
Mathew
that is odd - whatever is causing it then, it might be ringer volume related...
This Has Solved The Problem On My Touch Diamond...will Probably Post In A Couple Of Days To Indicate Whether The Problem Has Returned...if You Don't Hear From Me In This Thread Again Then The Problem Can Been Seen As Solved For Good.
All The Best

no sound.
hi. just got my new diamond. it powered up alright, installed all the necessary apps and sounded great. I also adjusted the system and the ringer volumes to around 80% of max.
but if i use the phone after around 15 minutes, there is not sound. no audio player sound, either songs or incoming calls or sms or anything. its just dead silent.
wanted to go to the shop to have it replaced, but before that, i wonder if anyone can help me and tell if this problem can be solved myself.
i guess i will wait for a reply before going for a replacement.

Bad news mate. But that problem is slightly different to the topic - it's only the ring volume which doesn't work for me and certain other people.
All other sounds work just fine.
Phone not ringing, vibrating or flashing for incoming calls
I am also having the same problem with my Diamond. The phone is not ringing/lighting up/vibrating or anything when someone is calling me. I have tried calling my phone myself to just watch it remain black. I REALLY hope someone somewhere finds a solution to this problem, or I may just throw it against the wall
I also had the same problem with my Telus CDMA diamond - sound worked fine, then after a random amount of time after power off, there would be no sound - no ring, no mp3 audio, nothing. Sound would be restored after soft reset, but would again disappear sometime after being powered down. I tried everything to fix - reflashed various roms, SRS WOW driver, everything - no fix to be found. The only way I could prevent the sound from disappearing was to use the "not suspend power" option of S2U2 - sound was maintained but it sucked battery like crazy. So, I returned the phone for exchange - they exchanged no problem. I haven't had a problem since with the new phone.
Phone not ringing for incoming calls
I've had this problem twice in the last couple of days. After testing a few scenarios I have been able to reproduce this problem on my TD. Like other users, the problem that I was experiencing was that my TD would not ring upon an incoming call. It would flash the screen and show caller ID, but no sound. Ring volume and system volumes were both at max.
I have been using an alarm application, G-Alarm v0.6.4. This app was installed to the device memory. After setting a test alarm and cancelling it, I then called my TD and the problem was reproduced. Are any other TD owners with this bug also using G-Alarm? (I also found that the G-Alarm was not stopping by pressing "Stop", so thought it was a bit buggy.)
I could restore the phone ringer by opening Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications. I found that my original ring tone for an incomming call had changed by itself. When I restored the ringer to my chosen ringtone, problem solved.
I uninstalled G-Alarm and so far so good.
I'm interested to see if any others with this problem are using G-Alarm or any other 3rd party alarm app.
Regards,
Paul
Paul, I also seemed to have run into the same issue with g-alarm. I say seem because although I did a hard reset the issue has persisted. The issue seems to frequently crop up when I switch sound profiles.
I've the same problem. No Sound after some call or others sounds play. When this happens and if I receive a call the others not listen my voice. This means that when audio disappear, speaker and also microphone not work, like the system can't comunicate with them. The volume control not resolve my problem. I've done HR and with nothing installed in my phone the problem come back again after few minutes. So it's not a problem of third part bad software, but htc orginal software or hardware problem.
Anyone solve it o have idea?
Thanks!
Perfect solution sickboy555 - I feel a right twit!!!!
no sound
So, for me, the Diamond is a dead brick - just good to look at, with no sound after 15 or even 10 minutes of standby.
can anyone just tell me if this type of a problem may be related to 1. Hardware, or 2. software.
I've given it to the shop from where i bought it from, but they keep on returning me the phone after a week to 10 days, telling that it's been fixed now. But the problem still persists, and I keep on giving them the brick back again and again.
Frustrated, i wonder if I can fix it myself, or just go to the shop, and throw it against the wall and count the pieces !!!!!!!!

glad to have helped!
I'm not sure if there is a real hardware issue as well. Are the others with the "same" problem sure they followed the guidance????
Hi Sickboy555,
yes I checked your advice but this wasn't the cause of the problem for me. As posted earlier, for me it was caused by my G-Alarm application. It's been over a month now since uninstalling G-Alarm and the problem hasn't returned since.
you are the man,thank you.
Thanks. My incoming ring tone problem has been solved.
er...sorry..wat is the solution again?? i dun really get it...
Has anyone experienced any problems with their phone with the ringtone? To make it clear, basically when someone calls me it is after 4/5 actual rings before my phone actually starts to ring... I have called myself from my other phone and It literally takes 4/5 rings before I hear my diamond ringing!
any fix for this? am I the only one?
i disabled phone skin, although the delay wasn't as bad as yours, it helped.
This has been around quite a bit.....suggest you do a search and find your exact solution......believe me, its there
My delay was about 2-3 ring
As a solution, I've increased the time before the answering machine take the call...
there are loads of threads, and loads of solutions, just search.
Disable HTC Dialer Skin may help
There are tweaks such as registry hack alter script "apw3r" in the HKCL\ControlPanel\Sounds\Ringtong0 which I have tested cannot work. There is post claimed to have solved the delay in WM5 device here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258109
I have not tried this. Suggest you to disable the HTC Dialer Skin and restore Windows default dialer skin which your Diamond will ring up in the 2nd ring. Here is my finding regarding this issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437431&highlight=ringtone+delay
Ringtone Delay
Did you install any application lately?
When I bought the Diamond I solved this by using Diamond Tweak however in the past few days the issue seems to have re-surfaced even with the ring delay disabled!
My phone has developed a strange problem whereby it no longer makes any audible tone when someone rings! If I set it to vibrate, it does indeed vibrate, but if its set to ring, its completely silent. The incoming call notification is displayed from S2U2, and I’ve tried changing the ringtone to ensure it wasn’t having difficulty finding the file, but it doesn’t seem to work. I’ve verified the volume is set to ring, but its still not working. Has anyone experienced this or able to suggest a possible fix?
6.1 stock att tilt
I have the same problem and really like some help towad this matter. see mines is a little different it rings, but it's low but once the call comes to the end of the call volume get loud like it should at the begening. i thinks the cause of this is the s2u2 on my tilt . everything works but incoming call is so low ,I do't know someone was calling until they hang up the volume comes back it's like s2u2 ver.136 muffes my ringtone untile the call end someone please take the time out and give alittle help over here plz asp.
I have the same problem too. I changed from ATT stock ROM to Garmin DK 1.2 ROM and then after a month, the phone stopped ringing for incoming calls. I upgraded the ROM to Garmin DK 2 and the problem temporarily vanished and then started again after about a month.
Does anyone know about this problem? For now, I am installing the HTC Kaiser ROM to test if that solves the problem.
random freezing
I've been having the similar issues with my tilt. It freezes and will vibrate when a call comes, but no sound and it won't stop vibrating until i soft reset. It does it randomly and sometimes it freezes before the number can be displayed so it is shown as an unknown number and i don't know who's calling because after the phone restarts the last call is not in the history. I have a few programs installed like skyfire, tcpmp, s2p, and i use my bluetooth headset at almost all times and i still can't answer with the headset on. I also have the HTC home plugin installed but it came with the windows mobile 6.1 update.
idea
Hya,
I had the same problem with my Niki and it intercame even with the Kaiser.
On Niki the problem was on WM6.0 .. after I upgraded no problem came. The "vibration freeze" never happened again and it's ringing every time.
On Kaiser the problem was in mirror. The ringing functioned well with WM6.0 and the problem came with the upgrade to WM6.1.
I can only think that the problem was that the ROM was broken but not sure.
An idea which I can gave to you to resolve a bit the problem is to install SPB phone suit where you can set ringtones to the calls, SMS, MMS and e-mails (and on newer versions maybe to many other things). It worked on my Niki `till I didn't upgraded (I didn't try it on WM6.1).
Never tried on Kayser but it worked for sure on Hermes.
Just try it, you can be sure that you don't brake anything and SPB phone suite for me was a usefull prog. Friendly interface, easy use and VERY usefull.
Have luck
