After I did hard reset, I saw it was installing a bunch of BELL's stuff.
Can I skip them or can I unstall them from "remove program" menu?
I found no way of doing so, but you can deactivate their stupid interface to keep TouchFlo.
The only thing I really want is to be able to put the status bar at the top to Black.
The CAB files BELL installed are not even in the remove list :-D
After the hard reset and after setting up the screen and date, you will see a customization window appear saying that the customization will begin in 3 seconds. While that screen is there, press the reset button on the back of your phone. After your device is restarted, it will show you the same screen again. Press the reset button again. After that, your phone will restart and the Bell customization will not be applied.
If you want it back, just hard reset your device again and let the customization do it's job.
Hope this help!

Trying to do a hardreset by following the manual ...
Press and hold the left SOFT KEY and the right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device.
OK ... tried that ... but the device just does a soft reset and starts up normally afterwards. The left / right soft keys are the ones you use to select the associated menu / selection options in applications.
Note that the hard reset through the other route works fine:
1. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Clear Storage.

I got same result.
However, you can do this :
1. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Clear Storage.
2. Type "1234" in the box and tap YES.
I did that, and it hard reset the device nicely.

Make sure you have both buttons pressed and held when you hit the reset button and don't let the buttons go until you see the screen flash again. Then, as soon as the screen flashes let the buttons go and you should see the reset menu.

Tried that including numerous variations of how long to keep the buttons pressed ... doesn't work.
What exactly do you mean by "until you see the screen flash again"? Do you mean the screen first turning black, or do you mean the screen turning from black to the next screen with "smart mobility" shown in the middle?
Also can you please post your ROM details (mine are in the sig), thanks.
Note that the two buttons you need to press are not exactley below the screen - as the yes and no buttons are little curved to let you press it by mistake
Finally ...
Yes the buttons really suck compared to the TyTN I unless you have miniscule girlie fingers ...
Anyway thanks for the pointer ... I changed tactics and pressed the keys with my right hand and making 100% sure that no other adjacent key is accidentally pressed as well ... use the left hand for the stylus to reset
Thanks!
After doing a soft reset, my icons in the start menu disappear. The apps that are gone are installed on my storage card. Now is there any way to have the icons refresh after a reset instead of having to edit my menu by removing them and then adding them back? Thanks
Are you talking about the drop down start menu?
As it has two parts. Top part is app's you have set in 'Settings' 'Menu'.
The second half is app's you have recently used.
You will lose the lower half on a soft reset but not the top.
On a HARD reset you will lose them both.
I lose the graphic for the icon on the top in my settings menu. The .exe icon (white square w/blue top) is there and it works but the app specific icon is not there. For instance, instead of the "Yahoo go!" icon or "Live Search" icon, there is just a generic white box with the blue bar at the top. It's just an appearance thing, but it is annoying. I love tinkering with this thing so I want to get it figured out.
thanks
After you do a soft reset go to Settings - Personal - Menu and click any of the programs that you have previously selcted on off and on. The icons will now appear in your Start menu. Don't know why it works, but it does!
att tilt
stock rom
windows live
Htc home customizer
OK after trying to install SCLPF cube and not liking to much i uninstalled it the way his instruction said. What i get now and this was preset with cube installed is after a soft reset i can hit the start menu 3 times but on the 4th time my menu has a white background and show windows live and live search about 10 times before programs and setting.
Help? if u need more info let me know.
what does a hard reset do and how do i do it?
Hard resets are covered on the FIRST PAGE of the wiki.
Hard reset puts the device back to how you had it when you bought it ( or installed a fresh rom ) it will wipe ALL settings youve made and put it to factory.
To perform this,
Press the 2 softkeys ( above the IE symbol and above the Mail symbol ) while pressing the soft reset button on the bottom. When it prompts you on screen, press the green talk button 2 times.

Hi there,
I´m trying to hide the soft buttons bar. I already tried pmc today shrink and softbar remover, both found searching the forums.
Problem is, I still want to display the tray (in the place of the soft button bar - the goal is to increase today space without loosing the tray).
With pmc today shrink, the soft buttons bar is gone, but also the tray.
With softbar remover, the softbar is gone, but the tray remains in the same place (so today screen space is not bigger).
Does any1 have any idea about doing this ?
Thanks in advance.

well with pmc the buttons are still usable. you just have to hit the actual soft key buttons not the touch screen.
my 2centz.
Well... yes, I know
Thats exactly what I want: I want to get rid of the softbar, but be able to still use it by pressing the soft buttons (hence, why I think there is no need to have it on screen).
What I want is to hide the softbar, and still be able to see the system tray at the bottom of the screen...
The problem is that with both solutions I have found, I can´t do that: with the first, the softbar is gone but the tray remains at the same place, so I can´t make use of the extra pixels. And with the second, both the softbar and the tray are gone.
Thanks for trying to help
On WM6.0 I had very rarely problems with VJ Toggle Today II, it basically just hides the soft menu and everything else moves down, it looks great and the soft keys still work, PHM Task Launch works perfect, programs show up in the tray at the very bottom of the screen, the Today screen items can take up the extra space that has been made above it, etc..
The executable is: vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe and you just put it in Startup. I have to tweak the registry to get it just perfect, the following post documents it, has a link to it, etc..

It says WM5 only but it works fine for me on WM6.0 and WM6.1 Caveat with WM6.1; after reboot I have to slide the phone once for the task tray to show up at all. It's just empty down at the bottom otherwise. It happened every so often with WM6.0, but 100% of the time with WM6.1. But it's a fairly minor annoyance. I might see if there's some way to automate this with MortScript or something and put it at the end of the startup list.
Amazing!!
Reinstalled pmc todayshrink and as you mentioned, opening the keyboard made the tray reappear.
Thanks!! Now my today screen is looking the way I want.
You may also want to try dcinobar. It is a very small program that lowers the softkey bar but still allows the system tray to be seen.

D/L link in post #12.
EDIT: But you will have to slide the phone open and close it to make the tray go to the bottom as well...
This bar is almost like the google cards app. Hitting it will bring up interesting info. But, I do not want it. I have looked at all the settings. I must have accidentlly hit a wrong key somewhere back. That vertical bar is really annoying.
I looked some more but could not find additional info so I just did a factory reset. I know I know that this is a radical step but the bar annoyed the heck out of me. In the future I will be more careful as to which box I tick. lol
Update: Factory reset did work but indirectly. After the reset I manually entered one app at a time. The first app was Nova launcher-went thru the settings while watching for that stupid vertical bar to appear and voila it did. It was in the "App widgets"/Card background" that somehow I previously set and that brought out that stupid vertical bar. So, just shut it off and good to go. You can't beat starting fresh with a factory reset even though it took a while to get my apps backup one at a time.
