Hey not sure how many people use it but here is zip for the apk and for the sd card download all in one. Just place the com.mobisystems.msdict.embedded.wireless.wordnet file in your data folder on sd card. Its a free dictionary of course but a big download, this way you can save your battery life on your phone

ADP builds of Android do not have TMobile apps such as Amazon MP3. This has been discussed ad nauseum if you had bothered to search.

It's a protected app. If you need it that bad that I suggest you go back to an RC build and do research before blindly flashing whatever build of Android is at the top of the forum.

If you still have the RC firmware you can just unzip it copy the amazon apk out and install it into the adp the amazon works. I dont think anyone has the IM app working though
We should have an official rc update from tmobile real soon, which will have amazon mp3, myfavs, etc...
Just open a RC33 update.zip and extract the file from /system/app. Then you can install it by adb push.
Verified as working. I just added it to the app folder of Dudes 1.1 build and then did the update and it works just great. Purchased and downloaded a song to verify.
Here it Is
http://droiddeveloper.com/com.amazon.mp3.zip
enjoy it works for me...
Really Bad,
In Germany it cannot charge my creditcard... It has enough money on it.
I have the dude's 1.5 version, and cant seem to get it running. It forces closed upon trying to open. Any thought? It is saved to my SD in the app folder.
TIA

TY SolemnWishing, this is how I got the app on my SD card to begin with - yours is a very helpful thread for a n00b like me. Unfortunately, I was never able to get the app to open. I am not sure how I could have messed it up - pretty simple, I navigate to the app folder on my SD and click the apk file which proceeds to install Amazon MP3. No go.
If you have any ideas on what the problem might be I would appreciate the input.
Thanks again for your great tutorial
Hmm... I assume you deleted the .zip and renamed it to .apk, what firmware are you using?
I am using firmware 1.5. Yes I renamed to apk. I wants to work, just force closes before it fully loads. I also have this problem with oi music player. It used to work, now no longer loads. I wonder if my SD card is the problem. It is 8 gb, but I am sure only like a class 2 card.
Strange. I have JF 1.5 and installed the Amazon app the normal way for any app on the G1 and have rebooted several times. The app still works. I thought if you did not push the app to the G1 it would need to be reinstalled each time you reboot the device?
Well, I am pretty positive it was my SD card - after writing my post this morning I pulled the SD card and have not been anble to get the phone back since. This thread pretty accuratly describes what is going on...long story short, i think I fried my SD card and as a result am stuck on Splash 2. I have wiped several times...

uggg...all for mp3's!!!! any thoughts and lots of luck would be appreciated.

Ahh I did the same thing. Here is what you need to do, you will need to force format it. Windows will NOT detect the card, and it may even freeze your computer. Put the phone into another device, such as a palm pilot or another cell phone and format it from there. It shouldn't take very long, and when it is completed, it will likely say the memory card only has 5Kb or so of memory on it. NOW insert the card into your computer and reformat it into a FAT32 format (+Ex2 for apps to SD) and you should be good! Of course, you will need to reload all your files though. That will fix your SD card. As for your phone... you will need to completely reflash a new firmware onto it, as right now starting up your phone is looking for items on your SD card which it may need, which no longer exist.
edit: if that doesn't work, completely start from the beginning by flashing the dreamimg.nbh file for rooting.
I was able to reformat the SD card, lost all my backups of course, and had to reflash dreaming.nbh and start from scratch. No biggy, at least i still have my phone.
thanks for all the tips...once i get my card re-partioned, I will try the Amazon.apk again.
K
I got it to load - thanks for all your help.

No problem at all, glad I could help.
hello, im really new on this thingy.
I have downloaded some free apps and its file extension is .apk
how will i install that in my G1 Android?
i downloaded the files using PC not my mobile.
You need to go "Settings>Applications>" and check the "Unknown Sources" box.
There are a few ways of getting them to install.
Most people will copy them to the SDcard by USB cable. (I have a /APKs folder). Then you need to use a file manager to select them (search ASTRO or Linda in market).
The other method I use is putting them in my "/htdocs/G1" folder on my local server, so I have a bookmark pointing to "192.168.0.2/G1" on my G1 and just visit that in the browser, you can then launch the installer from the downloads screen.
Edit: Oh and the other main way if you cannot do either of those, would involve downloading the SDK, setting up your path and drivers and issuing the install command from your PC.
What i do and i got this from youtube so i dont know if there are easier way
make sure phone is setup to install Unknown sourses you can do this in settings,Applications and have a tick next to unkown sourses
mount sd card...
copy .apk file to sd card
unmount card
goto market placed and install linda file manager..(i think astro file manager is as good but ive never used it)
Open Linda File Manager and press SD Card ...it should show a screen that should say complete action using google mail + Linda File Manger press linda File manager option
click on the apk you want to install.
it should show a screen with a option saying package installer click it
you should get a screen with a install button
press install
and that it..
AndExplorer v1.0BETA3 <-- can i use this? coz for now i dont have wifi in my place.
i got that from here http://slideme.org/application/andexplorer
but my problem is how will i install this?
get appsinstaller from the market.
It will search your sdcard and give you a list of .apk files just tap one to install it
so when i will install the installer the sd card must be unmount for it to be placed on phone.. tnx btw to those replies
is there any good apps that i can download? i want the nice ones but for free xD

Just put the .apks on your sd card either in a folder or on the root (it don't matter). Then download either appinstaller or linda. Check install from unkown sources like they said in previous post. Open up app installer or linda, find the apk then install. Its pretty cut and dry.
ok tnx, uhmm any good apps / games u can refer to me? xD
have you checked to see if the app that you downloaded is available on the market. AndExplorer, for instance is available in the market for free. This can be installed without any extra files or help. Perhaps you can check the market for other files to install on your thingy.
Hi all...
Sorry for the noob question but I am still really new with Android devices.
Can someone please explain how you "sideload" apps to my Galaxy S i9000M?
I really hope this is not an extremely dumb question but I really want to try the
z4root app out that RyanZA has created and it is not YET on the Market for download.
Any assistance and explaination is much appreciated!!!
PS... Im a quick learner so once it is explained I will not bother you PRO's again for something like this...
-EDIT- Ok... I see that this thread is not getting much response so I will add some further information in hopes that someone can explain things to me.
I am on stock JH2 Eclair Firmware (if that matters).
I want to know... How is the best way to download these apk files to my device to be installed? Via my computer and then xfered to my SGS via USB or should I download the file directly to my device?
Once its on my device, where is the best place to put it? ie. Internal SD, External SD, somewhere else?
Please oh mighty DROID experts... Help this unworthy noob in his quest for "DROID-DOM"...
There probably isn't a best way, but if you download the .apk to your desktop computer you can email it to your phone and then save attachment. I use internalsd/download because I don't have an external sd. Then use a program like Astro Browser on your phone and navigate to the download directory. Tap the file you saved and then open app manager to install.
USB or through kies will get the file to your phone easily also.
I like when people create a QR code for their files. I browse mostly on my desktop so I use barcodescanner on my phone to get the link to my phone.

Thank You Videonut. I appreciate the response and the help.
Any way works. Card reader for your SD card, KIEs, USB debugging mode, Dropbox, email attachment, web browser, bluetooth... none of it matters. Location on your phone doesn't matter either. You are still going to have to install it.
Thanks everyone for the explainations. They will come in handy in the future but for now it seems that RyanZA has put the z4root on the market and I no longer need to side load it but again... Thanks for helping!!!
i have no idea what i am doing. i have stock rom tryin to go to cong 2.4 need help
You need to root your phone first. Look for a galaxy-s one click root somewhere here or google for it.
Once it's rooted download ROM manager from the market. You can use the free version but supporting is good.
Once you have that installed. Then put the Cog 2.4.zip file somewhere on your internal sd card (this means your phone's internal drive not an external sd card). Put it in the root directory. Then open rom manager and select to install from sd card. Once you do that it will ask you for the new ROM location and it looks on your phone's root directory as default. So you should see it right away. Select it and off you go!
thanks so much just finished love it. just one problem i can't send picture mail any suggestions?

Make sure you don't have "(" or ")" in the contact's phone number.
Example:
change 1-(555)-555-5555 to 1-555-555-5555.
Hopefully, the official Froyo release won't have this issue.
again thanks so much for the help. your awesome.
Hi, I´m using Darky´s Gingerbread ROM and there isn´t any "Write and Go" application.
I want this application back because it´s really easy to post something to the facebook wall. Could you please someone copy this application from the system and put it here for download for me?
EDIT: Please I need it :/ the installer apk from /system/app would be just fine

Here you go: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6524760/WriteandGo.apk
I have got it from XWJS5 in Romkitchen.
Thanks, but it seems it isn´t working for me. I get "Application not installed." error message :/
I think you have to copy it directly in /system/app/ with rootexplorer (after mounting system R/W)

I tried it, it doesn´t copy anything.
Try to download it from Romkitchen as an update.zip then flash it with CWM!
quick question Gerusz,
when i goto romkitchen, click on galaxy s, then on generate, then on the apps tab, then select only flash and go, it tells me that if i dont select a launcher my phone wil be unusable. How to i create an update.zip that ISN"T trying to replace my entire ROM?
thanks in advance!
Hey I have the same problem, using darky rom and i couldnt find this app anymore. Any solution yet? been searching for quite some time
I know this is an old thread, but just thought that you guys on darky ROM should know that all of these apps are available and installed on your phone on your SD card. They will be in a folder for darkyROM and they will be saved in system/apps within that folder. You use and always should use the darkyROM tool available from the market and it will add or remove any system app you want and it backs them up (so if you remove something you shouldn't you can re-install again) and also it does the same for user apps too. It has now been suceeded by the darkyOTA application though which provides Over The Air updates for ROM related stuff. All support and info is located on the darkyROM forums to check out
