Wanted to start a thread here about dxTop widgets. I want more of them! Memory Management is awesome, now we just need a few more!
This is basically a plea to the Developers here to make a few.
Weather
Calender
Frequent callers
RSS
Digital Clock
New Analog Clock (If you make themes, maybe just extract your clock, and make them avalible as dxTop Widgets, as dxTop overwrites the clock styles )
There are more, a better starting list is at the dxTop Forums however
Perhaps a XBL Widget showing peoples status. Or maybe even a mini buddy list from some of the IM clients.
I'm thinking about adding a widget view to the open source Wifi Tether app so that you can just click on a button on your screen... If the author doesn't beat me to it.
I would like a RSS feed widget and weather widget. Maybe a system status widget(storage, temp, memory, and cpu speed)
Perhaps the tether widget could show who is also connected.
I am all about the different style clocks. Thats a great idea.

Yeah, but the thing is, I'm probably not going to actually code it because I dont have the time; I'm just going to make a view for it... eventually... =D

Wouldn't that end up being a widget that's about the size of an entire screen?

Or you just touch a widget the same size as the Mem monitor, and it changes between them/expands like a folder opening for more detailed view, or a combo of both, tap to change the quick view, hold for a detailed overview.
Mind you, I am not code savvy, so I have no clue if it'd work...but the widgets in windows can do similar things, so some intelligent Developer might take a swing at it =)
three words... upcoming calendar appointments
I think once there is a more complete "how-to", I think more will become available.
I cant wait though!
i always wanted some widget like this
i thought it would be a great
addition to the home screen

Hey everyone, if you are running build 1.5 (Haykuro, Dudes, ADP) of android, jsharkey has created a working weather widget. I have it on my phone and it works pretty well.
Read about it more here:
http://www.jsharkey.org/blog/
Or grab the apk from here:

btw, do you have a twitter account, i found thats the best way to keep up with the updates for android apps.
thanks!!
Is there a way to make an options screen for this or something? It's exactly what I've been looking for, however, my widget is showing 'red flag warning' because there's a fire risk today(even though it's going to downpour any minute).
I don't care much for this function in general, so it has nothing to do with your programming specifically, but is there a way to turn this off? I hate not being able to see just the temp outside without having to press the widget first...
The source code is there. Can someone made it work outside US?
Looking at the source, I think it'd be easier to use the app as a framework for an international version rather than modify the existing code. The reason being is it was designed an api from a US weather service.
You never know though.
Hello,
Great widget! I'm trying to recode this widget to use Google Weather API.
I just have one small problem, how to uninstall this widget? I try through the application manager, adb ...
Nice! Let's get it out there for Open Home so it can be used there too!
Monterey Bay? You from around there? I lived in Monterey/Seaside/Marina, Ca for a while.

This is awesome. Any battery effect, really?
I liked it but removed it due to not updating weather enough... was off by quite a bit
Missing a lot of icons but otherwise a good start for a widget.
If you didn't see, I made a modified version for internationnal (with added features).

I would like the option to choose where we get the weather info from. I have weatherbug also, which gives me the current weather & the widget which gives me the lows & highs of the day. The lows & highs don't always match weatherbug.

How did you remove it? I tried using Appmanager and it doesn't even show it.
Is there anything similar to this out there as far as widgets go? Im currently using the retro clock but its black and a bit small. I was wondering if anyone knew of one out there.
Go to the market place and type in 'beautiful widgets' it costs €0.99 but you'll get the exact same hero flip clock with the weather icon.
Wow that is exactly what im looking for. Thank you very much
This is well worth the money! great app!
No worries kids, glad to help.
When I search "beautiful widgets" in the Market, nothing found. why is that?
I have bought it and I m a bit disappointed... It doesn't look exactly the same as TouchFlo widget. Different colour (sun is a bit drab), different font size which makes a difference.
So it really looks close to the original widget but not 100% as I've read on different forums...

You need access to paid apps. If your carrier does not allow paid apps than you must root and use market enabler.

very good app - and skinnable too!
Just snagged the donate version and the forcast addon and all I can say is wow, fantastic app and well worth the $1.49. My iPhone never did that!
I got weather widget by donate
- PRO: Looks amazing, I love the look
- CON: my time does not always update. i have to refresh manually sometimes for it to update. any of you find out the reason for this?
mine always updates by itself.. only trouble i had was when i accidentally killed it using taskiller, then it wouldn't update and i had to take the widget off and put it back on.. so make sure that if you have any task killer application that it isn't closing it or preventing it from running?
only thing i can think of.. hope this helps
i thought i might have been that. i do close weather widget via task killer because i don't want anything running but open home, but sometimes it updates even if i close it which is a good thing. if i leave weather widgets on though it always updates but it is open and taking up resources. i like having as few apps open as possible. thanks for the response.
also at my phone: clock doesnt update frequently.... it's 5:12 but clock shows 5:01 ...
I saw this in the homescreen thread.
It doesn't appear the user is on, so I'm asking here.

Ahh, thank you.
In his post "Minimalistic Text Widget" was mentioned, but I thought nothing of it.
I was looking for a "clock" title of some sort.
Had no idea this widget would display time. lol
Thanks guys!
Now I don't know how to get the time like that.
: D
Choose layout > custom then in the editor go to time and choose the following:
Hour (12h) Static Text Minute (2 digits)
The static is under the "Misc" section in the editor and allows you to type in any text you want, for this instance I'm using it to display the colon ( : )
Let me know if you have any other questions!

I got as far as the clock part. Getting it in digital format.
It's the layout and size of everything that messes up.
When I try to make the time bigger, as shown in your screenshot, it ends up overlapping and cutting off the minutes.
Can you give me a rundown of exactly how you did yours? D: thanks.
NVM I got it. :]
Took like 10 minutes lol.
Had to use two different sized widgets to do it. align it, set each field, etc.

Hi all! I'm Digitalhigh. I port MIUI for the evo 3d. Resultingly, I've spent a lot of time lately trying to get every little detail perfected. One of the things that bugs me is that the 2x4 weather widget is broken from the factory. Or, to be more precise, the weather feature refuses to work because they rely on their own built-in weather app, which doesn't work in the US.
There exist several clones of this app with varying functionality...one doesn't locate your position, another doesn't default to the system clock, etc., etc.
So, I set out to find a method to properly emulate the MIUI weather app without any loss of functionality or requirement to bounce between six different programs - and discovered UCCW.
(This is probably a great time to point out how bada$$ UCCW is. A lot of widgets are customizeable, but this one takes the cake. The built in WYSIWYG editor is just awesome).
The above image is the full set of weather icons created for this. I'd say about 75% of them are pulled straight from MIUI framework, and the other 25% were created by me to fill in the missing requirements for UCCW.
Original: VS Mine:
And, as you can see, the output is pretty danged good. I am still playing with fonts and such, but for now, I'd like to get feedback on how all the weather icons look. I live in the frigid wasteland known as Wisconsin, so most of my weather updates are going to be very nonplussed. So, if anybody using this has issues reading over any of the weather images, please take a screenshot and post it for me and I'll see what I can do for that image. Thanks!!
As this is designed for MIUI, the assigned hotzones are linked to MIUI apps, and may not work on other ROMS. If you know how to use UCCW, then you know it should be a snap to map these to your ROM's apps.
ALSO, this is designed for the evo 3d's screen, so I'm not sure how the dimensions will work out on other devices. Please let me know.
But - the clock links to the miui deskclock, the date links to the calendar, and clicking the weather icon links to the trusty ol' google news and weather app. Tap the top-right to get into UCCW editor.
So, yeah. Be gentle. I know the corners need a little work and it's my ultimate goal to fully scale the weather icons and add more features, but for what it is, I think it's a good start.

Download the skin
Download UCCW from the play store
Is it possible to show the weather as mph vs km, or is that just a limitation of UCCW?
Thanks in advance. Looks good! Keep up the great work

Unfortunately, that seems to be the one thing I couldn't find. I'm new to UCCM, so I'm really hoping I just don't know how to do it yet. It is possible to edit the suffix of the wind speed item - but I don't think that it actually changes the value to the MPH equivalent.
Right now I'm trying to do a better job with the overlay - you can kinda see where the mask is undercut by the weather image due to the weird scaling used by UCCW. So, I'm gonna redo every single weather icon and just use a blank bg - I hope this will do the trick. Once that's done, I plan on getting in touch with the author and seeing if that is a feature or if it can be added.
I have used Beautiful Widgets for my home screen widget for quite some time but now the clock does give the correct time and its geolocation does not update. Looking at the app store there are multiple reports of similar problems and the dev does not seem to be updating the app now. Screenshot attached.
Are there any similar easy to use widgets to give a similar HTC sense clock appearance and weather? In particular I need added functionality such as being able to customise multiple areas to click and open certain apps. I've looked on the app store and the closest I found was the 3D flip clock but like some others I tried the widget does not fill the whole area and leaves a space on the sides and below on my Note 9 screen which looks awkward.
Cheers for any suggestions.
You can give HD Widgets a try. It is customizable and you can probably get close to what you need. It has time and weather (temp current weather and forecast)
It has clickable areas for the clock, weather forecast
You can also set up specific apps for each clickable location.

I agree. I use HD Widgets for clock/weather & then stock Samsung calendar/appointment widget. Hope this leads you to finding something that works for you.

Beautiful Widgets
I use BW as well and this was happening to me until I went in to Settings>General >Weather data provider and switched it to AccuWeather instead of using Weather Underground. Weather Underground doesn't work for me at all, but AccuWeather works just fine. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the replies! I managed to get beautiful widgets working by going to "Optomise battery usage" in phone settings and switch this OFF for the widget, now all working again! If it stops then HD widget looks similar and slick!
