Deleting files that I dont need in WINDOWS directory. - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello
How can I delete files in the "windows" directory?
Those files that I want to delete are not important or anything so I want to delete them.
I mean those "Album_Sample" pictures and one .3gp video.
In Files Explorer on my Diamond I cant delete them and when I connect my diamond to my PC and I try to do it this way it says that I dont have a permission to do it. Please help me how to do this.
Thanks
Sorry for my english...

Total Commander will let you do it:

Note: you'll have to go to File -> Properties to remove the Read Only and/or System File properties from the files you want to delete before you can delete them.
Also, I find TC easier to use with a full keyboard, and I use My Mobiler to access my system when altering the registry/Windows files:

Good luck!

These files are probably in the ROM, so you can't delete them. You could overwrite them but this doesn't save any space because the originals are always kept.
You need to cook another ROM without them.

As already mentioned, those files are probably in ROM (and thus not something you can delete) BUT in the off-chance they are not, you can do the following to delete trouble-some or "locked" files:
1. Install Resco Explorer
2. Delete the suspect files (they will be moved to "Recycle Bin")
3. Restart your device
4. In Resco Explorer, empty the Recycle Bin
Ta-Da -- files gone.
Again, if they are in ROM, this won't work.

why not learn to cook ur own ROM? at ur own risk of cos... my own ROM gives me a total of 107mb of program memory and total of 123.3mb of storage memory.. plenty of space and so much less lag...
we used to say that lagging and hanging is one of the feature for WM devices.. but that's in the past now.. now i'm only trying to figure out if it is possible to partition it so that i can put more space to program memory from the storage...
Good luck..

Help with Total Commander

i downloaded the Total Commander program am i supposed to be able to delete files with it? because it won't let me... i'm trying to delete some of the preloaded songs on my phone to make more space. thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
You can not delete some system files
With Total Commander, point on a file and select file properties, it will show you if the file is a "system" file that you can't delete.
well...
well is there a free program that will allow me to delete system files? i used to have a program that would but it wasn't free and the trial expired. i think it was the resco file explorer but i can't remember.
Some "system files" are included in your ROM (Read Only Memory) and can't be deleted by any program.
true, and i understand that. but the resco joint let me delete the songs that were listed as system files before. but i've had to reset my entire phone, because it was having some issues, so now those songs are back and my resco trial peried is way over. so is there any other program that can do it? because i'm 90% sure that i deleted these files before with resco...

Can't delete files in 'Windows' folder

I see a bunch of stuff in the windows folder that can go, but neither the built in file explorer nor TotalCommander will let me delete any of the files. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Null
make your own kitchen and remove files when building your ROM
Isn't there any easier way to remove crap from our windows folder??
most files in the windows dir is located in the rom which cant be altered apart from at full rom flash time
some can be overwritten if one use less poor filemanagers then explore like total commander

Deleting ROM files

Hi, I would like to delete some Files integrated in the ROM. I'm using total commander and Resco Explorer but it does not work at all, how should I proceed with it to get those files away...?
The Files belong to FlashPlayer 2.1
Thx in advance
You'd be better opening up the nbh (if you can) and deleting the files before you install the rom, otherwise the files may be in use on your device and you won't be able to delete them

Change images in de windows folder

How I can change some images from the windows folder, they are read only and I can't change this, I can download the images to my pc and change them but I can't put them back, is there a other way then just decopile the entire rom?
Willem
it`s not possible, only you DUMP your Rom
greetz
Just use a program like Total Commander or Resco Explorer to copy the files into your Windows folder. The ROM files aren't actually overwritten, they are merely shadowed.

Unless these were installed manually then you can't get rid of them as they are in the ROM (Read-Only Memory). The only way you can remove them is to re-flash without the files in the ROM image. Are you sure you don't need them?
rom != storage
the system files in \windows are in the os rom part which is never
something you can overwrite unless you are building a rom
freeing up space in the rom don't add space to storage
it just mean you have a device which don't use all the space
it could in the read only memory
this does not give you more space or speed up your device
unless the program is auto run and take up temp storage
and application memory

Go to Windows, tap menu, tap show all files, scroll until you find the file/s you want to delete. This is very time consuming, but if you have patience and perseverence give it a try.
