Another Coverup
Just looks like another coverup. I've tried a few of these things, including iLaunch, PointUI... They are flashy and cool to begin with but always end up lacking something annoyingly necessary. Until someone comes up with a complete replacement for WM, I'm not biting again. Don't get me wrong, there are some really neat features on these new GUIs, and I think WM is tired. But the wizard can't afford the extra resources needed to run a coverup. We need something to replace the whole kit n kaboodle. I'm still looking for neat efficient and configurable. I'm sick of the limitations of rom based crap. I want a UMPC. I may be nieve (?sp) but can't someone create a simple iPhone like replacement for WM? I can't wait for Linux. I only wish I had the skillz and time to work on some of it myself.

Also, a couple minor chip differences. Nothing that affects anything we care about aside from which version of Tomtom you end up having to use.

Calendar 'dialogs'?
You know you can enable those white "bubble windows" that pop up on receipt of new SMS messages etc. I'm *sure* years and years ago when I first used Window Mobile that calendar reminders popped up in similar bubbles.
How do I enable them? At the moment all I get is my alarm goes off, which just leaves an alarm icon in the top menu bar for me to click on, but I want the brief details to appear in a bubble - is there a reg setting for this?

I wonder, that small transparent piece of plastic built into to the earpiece. Is that an LED?
If yes, mine doesn' t blink or anything. Should it? And if yes, when?

FM radio sucks! Anyone has this problem as well?
Practically useless radio. Even out in the open, the reception is basically like "shortwave radio". Even with the strongest of channels, I can barely enjoy anything.

Every battarie will be loaded in the same way; there is no software which controls the voltage based on the battarie!!

Performance of Diamond 3DFlo interface

I looking into changing my HTC Touch Enhanced to a Diamond.
I would like to get some infor regards to the performance of Diamond.

Very new to root and roms. I upgraded to 4.0.1 very soon after having 3.6.8.1.
What are some of the neat things you can do? What settings have you changed? I JUST found out that there was another keyboard other than the android touch.
I did not know where this was appropriate and did not want to junk up cyans rom thread. Hope this is okay and apologies if its not. Just want to know what other cool features I am missing out on, and to also see what settings people roll with.

Best way to get the whole story is to compare the changelog of 3.6.8.1 to 4.0.1 which is available in their respective threads. One thing that was cool was the global search function from donut but that go reverted in 4.0.1. It will probably make an appearance in the 4.x.x experimental series however.....
I should clarify, I did not have 3.6.8.1 long enough to find all the easter eggs either. What settings do you change or things do you use after flashing his rom?

yeah i'd also like to know.. im also new to the art of the root.. i also have my own questions
i know the myfaves app doesnt work, in fact doesnt even appear lol, but the actual myfaves service still works right?
and do the im apps work? im talking about the native one. it doesnt seem to be working for me =/
also, i want my settings optimized for overall speed.. what do you guys use for this?

You don't want the mygayes app on your phone anyways, its just a hog. It still does work, if you need to set it up just go to your online account and do it.
What native im app are you talking about, its been to long since I had the factory rom installed. But I can vouch for aim and googletalk do work.
If you are on Cyanogens rom everything should be optimized to full speed.
yeah i never used the myfaves thing to begin with, thats why when i heard its gone if you root, i didnt really care lol. plus i was already planning on getting rid of the whole service anyway. but thanks!
im talking about the one that comes with the phone. has aim, msn, and yahoo. i try logging but it just endlessly keeps saying "signing in..". im not sure if i just have to wait, or if its not working.

I guess I'll chime in. One of the reasons I flashed to this rom over an old roger's rom was for VPN. That and the sweet power widget.

Direct and Supreme... you guys aren't really helping, so why post? I'm not asking how to root.... i've read the release notes.... I'm not asking anything I think is silly. I just want to know what settings you guys change and if there are any things you find particularly cool with his rom. I am embarrassed I just found out how to use the keyboard, so I guess you can pick on that... but please, do it over PM and not here.

Point taken...my appologies...Supreme and I like to keep things lighthearted and have some fun. I'm sure I speak for him when I say we both apologize for offending you.
To answer your question....I was pretty much being completely serious about reading the change logs and comparing. That's where I get most of my info but as far as settings go, I second someone else's poste about the badass power widget. I also like the 5 homescreen options, the logcollector app is nice for troubleshooting, the fact that the buld.prop file has been changed slightly means that the new version of "My Account" runs properly without any futzing around, and playing around with the text app is fun because of the mms enhancements courtesy of rgv151.
Many of the other enhancements that make cyan's ROMs awesome are behind the scenes that just make it run faster (kernel tweaks, CPU scaling etc). These have no options available to the user, they just are part of the build that contribute to cyanoganized awesomeness.

Just like Direct said we ain't tryna make fun or nothing. We do help out alot, but after a long boring day of programming at work we got to do something fun to help pass time away. And hey we really didn't even joke around unlike the other thread. Best thing to do is just play around with the phone, try out all the apps, play with the settings, and just explore. Like Direct said alot of things are behind the scenes.

I figured it was close. I stay in Huntsville. And been thru there a couple times. Think we even had a car show in Franklin a couple years back.
I have running the Facebook 1.1 app that is on the droid, on my motorola cliq, because someone uploaded it. It is only showing 1.0 in the market right now, anyway is there anyway anyone can fix the notifications tab, so we can reply to our notifications with-in the app itself, instead of having to use the browser? I hate going to the browser just to respond to a notification such as someone commenting on my status, etc....or I have to search for it, in the app just to respond, iphone gets all the attention! If you can fix this, and upload it again, I would appreciate it.

I did the above to my facebook.apk and it enabled viewing notifications as it should have. I'm really not sure why whoever coded that in the text file left it at "0", but with it set to "1", all my notifications actually work and stuff.

Dude you have a Moto Cliq use THE HAPPENINGS APK it allows you to respond to that stuff and comment on other status why in the world would you need the droid facebook.apk anyways on the cliq it sounds like your not using your cliq the way it was intended

You mean I have to search for more than one word at a time? That's too difficult. I'll just put in the word facebook, cry for a few minutes when I see the results then I'll post in the development section? Is that cool?
I love it when people cry about how bad the search engine is and then in less than 30 seconds I searach for and link them the thread that tells them how to fix the problem they have.

funny stuff. although i feel for the noob. it rough getting everything working.
I really would like to change my notification settings as well.
But I can't open the apk in the editor, always telling me its wrong encoded.
Can someone tell my what is the right encoding?
