Diamond Is Multitouch! I Guess. TRY it Urself - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hey all. I know there have been people always asking if the Diamond was multi-touch.
Well I found a solution to answer that. I think the diamond is dual touch..if that means multi touch then ya...it is.
I installed Stylophone
(sory dont know where from. If U r the Aurthur out there, I'l give u credits man. Let me no)
Ok this program is like the Stylophone (Similar to a keyboard) and lets u play 2 keys at the same time..If thats multi touch then
Heres the program if u wana try
Oh u also need to install DotNet platform3 for that to run
Try it out urself and have a say

anyone tried this?
thanks for feedback

it's not multi touch.. i can only hear a single tone (not a mix tone) when pressing 2 keys at the same time.. but the response for the screen is very fast.. the tone switches in split sec when i released a key while holding down the other..

limited multitouch is possible but it is not true multitouch. When two points are pressed on a Windows screen it is interpretted as pressing a point between the two maps. If you make a virtual key between the two keys (which is mapped as hitting both keys) then it looks like multitouch. Here are two articles showing how it works and that some apps have used it effectively but it's not iPhone style multitouch...it can have a lot of functionality if done right though

Vibration Feedback

TO DEVELOPERS:
Do anyone think to develop a vibrating feedback system on touch, such as samsung omnia or other samsung touch screen? it should bee useful for sms and call sending...
I agree!! Would be really usefull!
i agree as well it isnt very difficult as someone did do it on my n95
Yeah would be really great!!
I like this idea but I imagine it would be a battery drain.
You would be better off sticking with sound until a more bulletproof batter is invented.
bullet proof batter - now thats gonna be a tough pancake
in polaris thread there was a program called VOA.exe this program makes it possible when u press akey or button or letter the phone vibrates and also its simple to use !! u can download it from here:
http://mahmood1.com/Documents/vibrate.rar
afer downloading unrar and put it in anywhere and make a shortcut in windows/startup folder and restart device or start the VOA.exe. if u don't like just delete the link in startup folder and thats it !! its only 2 KB !!
Has anybody tested this software for Diamond?
I will try and give feedback....
Gerry
HTC said they tried this (haptic feedback) and it sucked, so I don't think we need to doubt them.
it work on my diamond , vibration is strong too
It works, but I really don't like it, I found it too strong
Yeah it works, but maybe the application needs to be re-programmed a bit.
Are there any programmers that could do this? Options like:
- simple but usable interface
- Duration settings
- Strongness settings
- Choose which application must have vibration feedback
would be nice.
damn that's just plain awful to have running. Thank god that HTC decided not to include that on the Diamond.
(PS: the implementation on Omnia is way better than this one though, but still annoying).

it was not a bad program, at least the author got the right direction. It only needs some polish:
Instead of hooking onto the screen touch event, the vibration should be active by "focus" and "unfocus" events. Anyone one has played Wii will know, when the onscreen pointer focus to a new target(button) the little internal motor vibrate a tiny bit, just enough to let the user to know "yes, you hit the right spot"
mayby it's just a matter of tweaking... just try the Teeter -game, theres quite good feedback from the ball.

but how is the tweaking to be done???
any idea???
I think some of you guys started bashing this program too soon... sure, the vibration feedback in this case is annoying and sure enough puts quite a load on the battery because of the long vibration.
But, on the other hand, I used to have a "force feedback" mouse years ago, it had a small vibration motor just like our phones do, and it was AMAZING - you could FEEL window boundaries, buttons, even textures! If it was possible to make the Diamond vibrate just a tiny little bit, similar to what Teeter does, it could give a feedback close to how it feels to press a button.
Think about Teeter, you could imagine there's a tiny hard rubber ball inside the device with your eyes closed.
If there was a configurable, fast, memory-efficient vibration feedback I would pay money for it. The key issue is responsiveness, the vibration HAS TO occur immediately when the keypress or screen tap is registered, otherwise this haptic feedback feels way more sluggish than a visual feedback that comes a tenth of a second too late.
Please, programmers, do something, I lack time, experience and Visual Studio to do it myself.

Only hooking the keys is possible on Windows Mobile.
So it is not possible to hook the mouse (touch on the touchscreen)...

Center button on Diamond...

Hi, I'm still relatively new to using the diamond... (approx 2 weeks...)
This is my first WinMo phone also so I'm just trying to get use to it. My question is, does anyone find very little use for the Center Button on the Diamond? Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that around the button is a senstivity for autofocus and zooming, etc. But other then taking a shot with the phone I rarely use that middle button. Am I doing something wrong or if possible can someone tell me what else the center button can do because I'm still finding doing things on the Diamond a little bit slower... Thanks.

If you press and hold on a file for example you get the basic editing options such as paste, copy, delete, rename etc...
There are many other uses but I have to get back to work!! Im sure more members are gonna guide you.
Luck!
I mostly use it for zooming in and out while browsing.
it can be enabled to do scrolling for almost any app - search the forum and you will surely find it...
The centre button is essentially an 'action' button. If you notice that immediately north/south/east/west of it (on the ridged circle) there are softkeys you can press down to navigate and highlight whatever is on screen, depending on the context of what you are using (TF3D, file explorer, browser, etc) much like using the arrow keys on a standard pc. The centre button can then be used to 'select' the highlighted item much like tapping the stylus on it (or hold the button down like holding the stylus to get the context menu etc etc) this makes it easy to select things in a narrow list if you dont want to use the stylus and have fat fingers
Hope this goes some way to hint at what you can use it for!
It's good to get used to some hardware keys, this center button and navigating with 'arrow keys'.
It gets you more speedy and productive, using touchscreen is not ALWAYS the best, it's quite inaccurate (since I don't push always exact at the right spot). So on those moment it's very helpful to become familiar with the HW keys
edit: Oups, i'm not on the good topic ! Sorry
If a moderator can remove this post ...
actually i use the hardware buttons a lot, just cause i like the way they feel when i press them. i know, sounds weird, but hey, they do a hell of a job for me.

SORTED: WormsWP plays on Diamond

I used to play Worms a lot on my old Trinity, there was a problem mapping the keys at first until someone managed to create a save file with the right keys on it to suit the Trinity.
I am a complete noob though, so I don't know how to edit the Savefile to change the keys to suit the diamond. I've tried opening it with notepad (garbled) tried a hex-editor but i don't know what i'm looking for really.
I'm attaching the save file so hopefully some bright-spark on here could edit it to suit the diamond.. As only three buttons are needed, the volume buttons and back button should do just the job.
Hope someone can do it
The central button - fire; Vol- - jump; Vol+ - back

why cant i play very well worms on my diamond?
i downloaded the cab and all the hw buttons work very well, my poroblem is that most of the times the touch screen doesnt recognize when i click a button, for example at start it takes me ages so i can play because i click and it doesnt act like it should, in game if i choose another weapon on a worm, when i get to other worm it doesnt let me choose anymore, i believe this is due to the vga screen, care to comment?
Could you upload the WWP cab? I would also love to play it on my Diamond.

This issue is related to screen rotation. You probably have G-Sen installed. Add worms to the list of programs G-Sen should not rotate, in the G-Sen configuration file (just like it's done for manila).
thanks a million it works perfectly now this game is awesome
thanks for the help it never crossed my mind gsen was messing with it
While I'd be very glad to play Worms, the savegame just makes Worms crash back to the Application selection screen on my Diamond. Any thoughts on what that means, or should I just attach my save-game file?
thanx for the dat files...the game is really good...just wondering guyz...everytime i close the worms app on my diamond...i get an error report...is that normal:/?
Hello, maybe I'm stupid but how can I move and aim with worm? In menu it says with D-pad, but it doesn't work for me. (D-pad is that circle button right?)
Brilliant! Thanks very much for this
Can somebody explane me how to install this on Diamond. And does it work well ?
this is a great fix, THANK YOU!
but can a similer thing be done to remap the buttons in Tomb Raider? the game runs perfect on the Diamond but cant be played as the buttons need to be mapped
can anyone do this?
how do i install it?
can someone remap up and down to end call and start call? i have no up and down on my diamond

[REF][REQ]How to Remap Hardkey(button) Actions

Our Blackstone has always suffered from the fate of an UGLY sister... from not getting official WM 6.5 to Lack of Hardware windows button. i decided to start this thread so that we can find out some way to Remap Hardware Button (HOME) to Windows start......
For the 2 years i had my Blackstone i know that i hardly used this button so it would be nice to remap it to Windows button.... also we can have the added feature of removing the Start button from bottom of screen and have more HTC HD mini like sense 2.5 look for those of us who use WM 6.5.5......
Any help into this matter would be greatly appreciated.... and on other forms ppl have remaped hardware buttons like this one .... for HERO
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695936
Actually, the home button is not a hardware key. Its a part of the touchscreen. Only hardware keys are VOL up/down (pwr, rst also)
hink this is possibke
as stated the post above it isnt a real hardwarekey so its arranged by manilladesktop.dll i believe
im writing this from my phone sso cant check if its the right dll name
if its a dll you can rewrite the dll to point to start instead of home

ohhh that would be great chris..... i would be really gald if you can help me out... take ur time... when u have access to your pc... check if you can do something about it....
i'd be interested in the results of this...
i'd like to use the BACK key for manual rotate, and use the PICKUP button as default voice calling.
currently im using the PICKUP key for manual rotate, since this is the only button available to remap it's long-press function.
well i took a quick look but it isnt something i can arrange for you
all kind of strange numbers and stuff in there that i cant read
i still think it should be possible though if someone with more knowladge of dll files and writing them comes in help

[REQ] soft keys (buttons) to save our hard keys on hd2(wp7)

as we all are into new revolution on our hd2 is windows phone 7...
i have broken back button ... and m pretty sure lot of people have done this using android on our monster HD2 ...
we had button savior software in android (available on market too) to bypass use of hard key ...
so we ware all set .. but after seeing windows phone 7 and its cool animations i love it but m not able to use it bcs i have to use back button in wp7
any developer can develop soft keys Penal which says at bottom of screen ??
i can pay for it and also that will be one and only app which would do it ...
I don't think that this would be possible with the current api's available to developers.
Well, in my prespective, I think buttons were made to be pressed.
And in the case of your broken button(s) I see that as an individual situation, I have had my HD2 for over 9 months, 6 of them were Android and my buttons look just new .
If you treat your buttons like how you treat your fingers they will live long . I voted no.
Still, it's just my opinion
i agree we need button savior for wp7
I asked jerryfan2000 if he could make it. He hadn't responded back yet.

Exactly, the os and the SDK for it are extremely limited. That's why it's so fast. Only processes made by microsoft can run in the background (media player for example).
I would suggest in this situation that considering wp7 phones come with 3 hardware keys, it would be a possibility to remap those instead of using software keys, try looking into it.
I'm really agree with it, if it sin't possible then it would be nice to do remapping the hard key. Dial to phone, home to home screen, windows to menu and red power button leave it that way plus disengaged call.
+1
vote: yes, although it seems impossible at this moment. it sometimes needs more few times as long as wm7 has just come out...
Back button
how the heck you break your button and anyways is your phone take care of it is like a pussie treat it nice
No........
+1..Our phone had runned a long way and still is..Anything is possible..

There has to be at least one hardware key which leads to the camera app, it`s the way the OS was designed to work. The same goes for a search button, there simply has to be one. As for the others... well, they are already properly assigned. There`s not much to remap, really.
As for the OP, I really think you should flash WM 6.5 and fix your hardware buttons. As somebody else mentioned, they`re made to be pressed and used. It`s just that you need to be gentle when handling them. The HD2 is an expensive and fragile device, it`s not your regular Nokia device which can be used to break bricks...
All my buttons work on my HD2 but I would like a second option to interact with my phone and I think the on screen buttons would be a great add-on. It would calm my nerves knowing that my buttons will be still around for the next gen OS for the HD2
i would say yes just to use the call buttons and not feel i am using a toy
waiting for the official update next month which is said to allow third party app running background
i hope it will be possible in near future ...
Yes...my red button is kinda broken
Now is possible with Mango release ?
