I recently bought an LCD on eBay for 35 dollars which I thought was a great deal. Now I need to purchase another part but I seem to be having problems locating it on ebay. So I went to the web to see what I could find. I have come across a few sites that will sell me the part but they want 95 bucks for a single cable. When I compare prices to see what they charge for LCD's they want 135 bucks. So clearly these websites are giving the best prices. If the LCD is 135 and the cable is 95, then through a cheap dealer I should be able to pay 35 for the LCD and possibly 25 for the cable. Understand my logic? At any rate, can you guys offer me suggestions on where to get 8925 parts? I suppose I could even purchase a busted phone since what I am looking for is the LCD flex cable assembly that contains a wide cable and two small circuit boards on either side. I did see two phones on ebay selling for parts only but they want too much and they are water damaged which means the cable I am after may not work. I don't mind buying a busted parts only phone if I knew that the LCD was the only busted part. Any ideas where I can get either the cable I need or perhaps a scrap phone for cheap? Thanks.

Im living in the Uk and managed to crack the screen on my kaiser. My insurance company will fix it/replace the phone but theres is a 50quid excess.
Iv searched the internet high & low for new LCD screens but aside from ebay iv struggled to find any. As for the ones on ebay they are all from hong kong & google has brought up a few horror stories from people who have used them.
Does anyone know where i could source a new lcd from, or any advice in general?
cheers guys
I cracked the screen on my kaiser a couple months back. I purchased an LCD off ebay (i may be able to find the seller and see if he has more). I received it within a week and fixed it myself. easy stuff. I wouldn't be too afraid.
so your insurance will charge you 50quid to replace it completely or 50quid on top of the price of the lcd?
cnn.cn has lcd's for $75.99 + shipping. I've had mixed results with them. Ordered about 3 things from them, all seperate orders, arrived on time and no complaints. But then ordered a 4th item (lcd for nokia n82) and the package arrived empty. I honestly think it got lost in customs cuz they tore the package open, but cnn.cn didnt reply to any of my emails so i just withdrew the payment with my bank.
£50 in total, inc shipping and parts. the £50 is just my insurance excess.
The phone is in very poor shape so imo id quite happily pay the £50 if they will send me a refurb phone!
poor shape how?
i sent my phone Tytn in or repa[ir on insurance with a cracked screen, they serviced it, cleaned it etc.
if you have insurance then use it! you won't be able to get a screen for less and then you'll have the hassle of fitting it.
whats the point in having insurance?
if your phone is in poor shape cosmetically and you are disappointed with that then look after your phone!!!
else report all faults in a one-er and get them fixed for one excess payment.
For those of us outside the USA that have purchased the Nook, it doesn't seem that there's any way to buy an official replacement USB cable.
My Nook slipped off the table and landed on the carpet. It survived unscathed, but the micro USB plug basically just folded over, splitting the case slightly. I can bend it back into shape but the connection is not solid, and I'm not comfortable using it.
Ebay lists many NC "compatible" chargers, but it seems unlikely that any of them will actually give proper charging speeds. Does anyone know of a reliable 3rd party charger, or a way to get B&N to ship an official one outside the USA?
Thanks.
I'm not sure about shipping outside of the US, but I recently found out that B&N will replace your charging cable free due to lots of factory defects. *mine was cracked when I got it, and slowly deteriorated over time. Called their tech support line and before I could even ask they offered to replace/ship it for me. Worth a try. At the worst they might just charge you for the international shipping, but since your not paying for the charger it wouldn't be too bad I would think.
In dell streak charging port have two rectagle piece of plastic right? Two of them have been broken. Another piece stuck inside my charger port, i still can charge as usual eventhough two of the pins have already broken. Why? Does it under warranty?
Probably you had a defective device or chances are that you did not insert the cable correctly and broke the pins. The charging port is really delicate if you need to re-solder it. Thing is, if you are not used to soldering delicate parts in a mobile device, chances are high that you would break something else while resoldering. Sell your faulty Streak and buy another second hand one - they are pretty cheap now (150-300usd + shipping on ebay depending on the condition. The cheaper it is, the more scrathes it has usually.). It's better to have a full functionning device than one that will soon stop functioning when you will have trouble connecting the pins together!! Better sell it in my opinion.
It cannot be repaired?
If you know someone who can repair Dell Streaks, then ask them. otherwise......
Damage to the charging port most likely will not be covered under any warranty, whether the carrier's warranty or Dell's. The cost of such a repair would likely approach the cost of a new Streak itself. Dell themselves never bothered actually repairing the Streak, sending out refurbished or new units as replacements.
Final5k's advice is sound. Purchasing a used Streak and then selling yours for parts is the way to go here.
oMG it is really bad. I think the pin gradually be broken 1 by 1 as u said the pins are very delicate. I dun wish to sell my streak. Tomorrow i will try to contact dell.
Perhaps this is the last way to fix it?

LOL if i chosen the last way, my streak would look very different.
Is this the item i am looking for?

You will probably do more harm to your device if you are a novice in dismantling phones and soldering parts. The removal of the Streak's housing is itself a pain if you are not careful enough. Where did you buy your phone?
The parts on ebay are usually non original ones as only Dell sells replacement parts. Again using non original parts might bring more problems to your phone.
But the choice is yours, if you want to venture on repairing your phone yourself, just be very careful not to damage other parts as you may end up with an unrepairable phone which you won't be able to sell to anyone.
Something similar happened to me and I just used a fine pair of tweezers and a safety pin to get the plastic out and straighten the pins and now it works fine. One of the pins is broken in my phone but it still charges fine and can connect to the pc fine.
u got the plastic out? I have two broken pin, but cant said it already broken, it just fold inside. I still able to use. Is the pin is the matter of charging speed?
My Nexus One power button recently died due to the well-known flex cable issue.
Unfortunately, I bought a new flex cable assembly from GadgetFix on ebay. The item was advertised as "Brand New OEM", but what I got was a very dirty, finger-print covered, taped-up, what looks like a cheap china knock-off part that I am going to have to throw in the trash. The 3.5mm headphone jack even has a bunch of lint in it still. The 90-degree bend where my part borke even looks worn, like it's ready to break already! WTF
Here is a link to where I bought mine. I can't recommend anyone buying their flex cables here:

Fortunately, it was only $16 wasted, but my time was more valuable to me. Now I need to buy from somewhere else.
My question is, does anyone recommend a trusted seller of good flex cables? I would prefer new and not refurb, and I am willing to pay for it.
The same goes for other Nexus One parts. I have owned by Nexus One for three years now, and I'm going to keep it going as long as I can. What an awesome phone.
Thanks in advance.
I bought another cable from another ebay buyer, "usmobileparts". They sent me the same thing... an obvious refurb. At least this one isn't as dirty and didn't have a broken audio jack, but it's still fraud because they are advertising the part as new instead of refurb.

I am okay with buying refurb parts if that's all I can get, but these guys are dishonest. That's pretty much what ebay is all about.
Hello guys,
Yesterday, I dropped my phone by mistake and cracked the screen, so I went online to look for replacement (I can change it by myself) and ended up not knowing what I exactly need.
My question is do I need this https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Free-Shipping-for-HTC-One-M8-LCD-Screen-Display-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Assembly/800156_2046697346.html?src=google&albch=search&acnt=479-062-3723&isdl=y&aff_short_key=UneMJZVf&albcp=304964476&albag=11402194156&slnk=&trgt=dsa-62796764476&plac=&crea=64152582916&netw=g&device=c&mtctp=b&memo1=1t1&gclid=Cj0KEQjwsO6-BRDRy8bsxfiV2bkBEiQAF8EzKAy1YydCzYq8AeRHSHbDCTHSTlwdXW_P3EdSkpvs4GMaAqWj8P8HAQ to replace my screen?
It would be easier to just purchase the lcd and digitizer with front housing. The 3 pieces would be already assembled. IMHO it is just easier to spend the few extra dollars to avoid a possible hassle. And, for the record this is the route i went when i replaced mine. I only buy from sellers located in the U.S. to avoid warranty/replacement issues of parts (if you live in the U.S.).

Hey,
Thank you for the reply and no I am not from US.
So, this one should work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-HTC-ONE-M8-LCD-Display-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Frame-Replacement-Assembly-/282122816484?hash=item41afd48be4:g:5pgAAOSwaB5XowrM
I'm not a fan of parts from China and Honk Kong. But yes, that will work. Just remember, be free of static, disconnect the battery as soon as you get the rear cover off, and wear anti-static gloves designed for electrical devices and components. Good luck!
