so palm has this game
http://www.clickgamer.com/Arcade-Reality-Palm-OS-ToySpring-Augmented-Reality-Game.htm
which lets you shoot on screen targets and ships while it uses the camera and you actually have to rotate yourself to look left right up down and such and its very cool
has anyone seen anything like this for windows mobile?
FUDGE>..thats awesome..i'm guessing we can use StyleTap to play this?? yah it'll be great if WM had its own
good find bro
oh id never heard of styletap haha but priceyy
only issue is whether it can still call the camera properly but if so that would be nice
yeah it doesn't work...STyleTap won't call up the Camera..unless thers a hack to it??
I remember that game, had it on my old 700p. Really a blast to play, although you look like a dork, or a perv depending on where you were
Thanks for the heads up about styletap not working.
Yep I remember this too... I played the demo ALL the time. Never did buy it. But I loved it on my treo 650!
Great! Anybody!? Takers?

Not sure if this is old news. The Sony Xperia X1 was displayed today. The video acceleration is the same as my un-modded Tilt. Here is a video link and approx 3:30 into the video you need to pay attention. Watch how long it takes after the qwerty keyboard is exposed for the video display to draw to landscape. It also seems as this device is a resistance display and not capacitance. I was under the impression that there were video drivers being used on this device. however the overall design is well thought out, and the GUI, as far as the pannels go, are nice. But overall i think i will just stick with my tilt.

of course, it's made by HTC. What did you expect.
Or perhaps it a April Fool's joke...er.
I'l still be buying one.

Me too.
Also, you have to remember it is still pre-production. The drivers prolly haven't been implemented.

I'm not falling for that one again.
*looks at his crippled tilt on the desk*
I need to see some real world, real user benchmarks before any phone company sees another dime of my money.
Yeah, I guess that is true, lol.
i'm still down for an x1 whether it fixes the issue or not

Fish panel
Am I the only one that really likes the fish panel? I wish we can have that for our tilt
The fish pannel.
when she touches it does it seem like it has the Touch bug? i cant really tell.
Sorry guys, we've already got several xperia threads floating around that could have been used.

Hey.
Tried installing the warfare incorporated demo on my diamond, and it runs just fine. But when you move around on the map, and especially when you click a "unit/person" or whatever you wanna call it, and move him/it around on the map, the whole game lags very badly.
Isn't the diamond capable of running this game? I though there was some sort of graphics "card" in the diamond, maybe it's not being utilized by the game?
Anyone had any luck with this?
http://www.warfareincorporated.com/
hello!
Plays perfectly fine on my diamond...
Very smooth even with many units
That's very odd. Sure you haven't configured your device in some way to make it happen? Which rom are you using?
I get the same result both with the orig 1.37 and tlr-3.08
My apologies, I just reinstalled the game, and now, for some reason, it runs pretty flawlessly.
I was wondering however, is it possible to get te game to support 480x640?

That's funny, I had the same problem on my Raphael. Uninstalled and reinstalled and now its running great except I cannot select 480x640 either. I will contact Handmark since I do have a registered version of this game. Hopefully they will have a solution.

no wonder it doesn't have high-res support as it was released in 2001...
If you DO need a hi-res RTS, get Machines at War. Another pick is Towers Trap but it may be too slow on the Diamond. See my dedicated reviews.

I checked out the demo of Machines at war and have ended up purchasing it. It looks good, runs smooth and play great. Cheers for the recommendation.

You may be right about that, I think the latest version was released in '04, but this still predates hi-res PPC devices. I thought I remember it looking better on my Pocket Loox 720 (VGA screen). Also, I read that there is hi-res available for this game, but that may be for Palm since Palm did hi-res way before PPC did. Remember when Palm was the cutting edge in handheld technology? I'll try the games you mentioned, thanks for the recommendations.
Bunch of my buddy's got iphones and are constantly showing me cool apps for just about everything. I know our phones rule, so post up some of your favorites so I have a bit to show
I am still looking for a good weather app with radar -.-
I really like WMwifirouter http://www.wmwifirouter.com/ It has a free trial its great.
it turns your data connections from your phone into wifi. Making your phone into a wifi hotspot!
look for Shootme v 2.5, thats a fun one. its like iphones shotgun app only this one has machine gun, whip, boxing glove, and more(my fav is the hair clippers, if you sneak up behind someone it really sounds and feels like your hair is being buzzed off haha)
Im assuming ur a guy by posting this.. but HDwobble has to be one of the funniest apps..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522179
but u dont have to limit urself to breasts, if youre not completely dirty mined.
SK Tracker. It's a must-have if you flash a lot and want to learn how to back up all your settings w/ UC or sashimi.
Tom Tom stand alone GPS. I dont need to have internet access to figure where im at via google maps.
Apps
No apps really compare to Iphone apps. Especially games, the only game that is interesting and fun is "Xtrakt" and that is originally for the Sony Ericsson Xperia 1 and it doesnt fit on the screen correctly. The Touch Pro wasnt really thought of when it comes to impressive applications.
FindME
I don't mean to blow my own horn, but I am finishing up testing LsFindMe. It is an app I wrote, which I use to find my car in a parking lot (Actually more likemy wife uses it daily).
You "tag" the car when you leave the car. when you leave the mall you click "findme" . The system tells you how far from your car you are, and guides to to it.
slingplayer mobile.... use it everyday @ work and on the rail road home...
and hTorch of course... lets see the iphone guys do something like that!! good luck w/o a flash!!

And where exactly can you get Tom tom for the Touch Pro with North American maps, I am willing to buy them, but TomTom.com does not sell them.
If you're musical, Pocket Guitar is impressive http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482726 It's available for the iphone too, but it works great in the TP and it's free.
You mean I can only have one favorite app?
The list is seriously endless for me. This is just part of it:
GRemote
FM Radio (comes in handy sometimes)
A few of the games in the Mega Arcade Pack
TF3D (Can't say I've ever seen an iPhone interface this sexy )
WorldCard Mobile
PocketIRC
HTC's Wi-Fi Router app (Just started using it recently and love it, though USB tethering worked awesome too)
I used to really enjoy hearing "What's one thing your phone can do that my iPhone can't?" That was easy, just show them copy & paste. Sadly the new iPhone can do it too now...I hate you Apple
id have to say diamond beer and touch the music would be a good start also there is a thats what she said app with the voices of the people from the tv show the office. also htorch is a must turns your led into a flash light and dont forget the light saber app.
need for speed
with g sensor.

This is a prank to get people to yell about using Google, right?
TomTom Navigator for WM
Godaft is a really fun app I use it all the time .
Hi, I was wondering if there was a free voice changing application thats free for our TP's. I just saw the new iPhone app, I am T-Pain and I thought it was pretty cool. Is there anyway anyone can make this app if it doesnt exist?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZQHyfDs8DI
Pretty cool huh?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z13AjI8n4I
Haha yeah I know, but the song is refering to people using it to make songs and songs that become hot ringtones. I, however, want it for fun.
Jay-Z is the man though. Have you heard Blueprint 3? What do you think about it? I mean, EVEN HOV USED AUTOTUNE ON THIS ALBUM!
glad somebody said something. HOVA!
Off Topic(?)
BP3 kind of sucked. OB4CL 2 is waaay better.

You can continue (a WinMo Voice modifier would be pretty nice though-I like to make Prank calls)
Questions for those of you who have or used both...
1) Does the accelerometer add any real usefulness to the WM experience ?
2) Is there much WM software out there that takes real advantage of the accelerometer ?
3) Besides automatic screen rotation, what great smartphone features are made possible by use of an accelerometer ?
I was just wondering whether the accelerometer has graduated from being a novelty/luxury to something that is actually indispensible to a WM smartphone.
had one in my n95, deactivated it!
my mate has a touch HD, hes also not suing it.
to be honest, there is no pratical use for it. u dont need it for anything usefull.
id allways swap a gyro for a compass cause if i hate something, then its navigating with google maps and not seeing in which direction i currently look at.
it ould be usefull in combination with compass for displaying aternate reality.
1 - No.
2 - Yes, but they are useless.
3 - Nothing else and the automatic screen rotation is super annoying. I always keep it off on my N95 or any other device for that matter.
Well, I felt that way when X1 was released, but I figured things would have been improved between then and now
just imagine.. i have many friends that use Nokia with Tilt sensor.. And almost all said that once they disabled their tilt sensor.. their phone hangups are almost nil... from almost everyday..
I'm happy with my X1's magnetic sensor.. it only triggers when i needed it...
I had a fuze and loved having the g-sensor for taking pictures. If you take a picture in portrait it saves it that way when reviewing it.
so I want want the accelerometer for this reason alone.

this could be solved by software too, to a certain degree ofc.
Ive got a Panasonic lumix and that digicam has the same feature. it either has a gyro or its doing it by software somehow. i guess its a software thingy.
The accelerometer is nice to have for driving apps like measuring G and acceleration etc...
Did not use it in the Diamond, did not miss it in the SEX1, not impressed with it in the Diamond2.
I bought X1 in part because I don't care about accelerometer. I would love to have one in my next phone, but not for any practical purpose, and I frankly am not willing to pay any more money to add it. It's neat, but not necessary or even practical for just about anything.
Had it (iPhone 3GS), didn't miss it (Xperia X1i).
Finicky thing was a PITA.
^ U loved Xperia X1i over iPhone 3GS?????????
i am havin hard time which one to keep.
got both at home currently.
3GS is a strong competitor...and it makes good use of accelerometer

Same here lol. I am intrigued by it and it is a curious device for sure. Unfortunatelly, I haven't been able to play with it, yet. I definitely want to, though.
There isn't much to say until I get it in my hands. It looks sleek and sexy when it's closed, but I don't like that particular form factor and that type of keyboard. The keyboard seems kinda small as well.
WebOS is something that I REALLY want to try. That card based interface looks very convenient and those cards are LIVE, a feature that had to be implemented in our panels...
Bottom point, I want to try one and it looks like a very good device (not as good as the X1 ) and it has a pretty good dev communiity as well.
Pre's build quality is apparently touch and miss. There was the "rotating" slider incident. (Which is severely WTF?!?!)
However the keyboard looks like it'd cut my thumbs (what's with that sharp looking lip?) and is smallish, too small for my large fingers.
